Episode 223 The Church of the Otherworldly God

Episode 223 Church of the Underworld God(TN:Dunno why title is 'ikai no kami' and the rest of the chapter says 'ikyou no kami'(pagan/heathen god).)

I ran around the church. As I turned the corner, I saw the adventurers and the goat head fighting. I decided to watch the situation without jumping out.

"Be careful. This guy is strong."

Akagi, a B-class adventurer, warned. Akagi's team should have been five, but now they're fighting with four. Was the scream just now an injury to one of the team?

The Muscle Wizard Iguchi quickly thrust out a spear that seemed to be a Magic Weapon. At that moment, the body of the goat head lost its presence.

Iguchi's spear was supposed to pierce the goat head's chest, but it slipped through like it had no flesh. What? It seemed to have become a spirit like a Wraith.

"Damn, change your weapon to something with the holy attribute."

Akagi raised his voice. Iguchi and the others put away their Magic Weapons and replaced them with weapons with the holy attribute that they had as spares.

If you looked closely at the goat head, it floated like a Wraith. It was strange, even though it was running on its own feet until a while ago.

[ That monster seems to be able to transform its own body into a spiritual body. ]

I couldn't believe Metis' words. At that moment, a long, sharp claw extending from the finger of the goat head grazed the arm of one of the adventurers. The adventurer screamed. Its claws seemed to inflict enough pain to make a first-class adventurer scream.

"Yamashita!"

When the adventurer's name was called, he dropped his holy attribute weapon and backed away. The arm that was scratched by the goat head's claw hung weakly. He must be paralyzed.

"Sorry, I screwed up."

From the man's movements, I was guessing he was an Attack Wizard. The goat head that became a spiritual body was unaffected by Attack Magic, so he tried to attack with a weapon with the holy attribute and was counterattacked.

The Muscle Wizards attacked with weapons they weren't very familiar with, but they were received and dodged by those claws. The goat head's athletic ability seemed to be on par with an adventurer who used Muscle Magic.

I whispered to Metis.

"It would have been better if the Magic Weapon had been given the holy attribute, so why wasn't it given?"

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

[ It is not possible to add the holy attribute to Magic Equipment that already has other attributes added. ]

"I see, so the main weapon they're using is a Magic Weapon with a different attribute attached. Nn, but I was able to give it to my black scale armor."

[ The black scale armor did not have any attributes attached to it. Magic that manipulates D-Particles and pure magic is basically non-attribute. ]

"What about Shadow Puppets?"

[ They have the dark attribute, more precisely, the shadow attribute. ]

"In other words, they can't be granted the holy attribute?"

[ That's right. ]

That's why Metis proposed making a holy attribute weapon for Tamegorou. I thought it was because Tamegorou was too big to enter the Spirit Fountain, but it seemed I was wrong.

The goat head's presence suddenly returned. It seemed that there was a limit to the amount of time it could transform into a spirit body. Akagi and the others noticed this and changed their weapons to their main weapons.

Akagi and the other's fierce attack began. The Attack Wizards activated 'Rock Crush', and the Muscle Wizards tried to cut the goat head with a Magic Weapon.

It seemed that the goat head, once reverted from spirit form, could not immediately transform into spirit form. The demon-like monster received all-out attacks from Akagi's team, took damage, and collapsed and disappeared.

Akagi and the others' movements were sophisticated, befitting veterans. Attack Magic was activated quickly, and it seemed that there were various attack methods. It must be a strong team.

Akagi was so powerful that he single-handedly defeated the EarthDragon, so I wanted to see an Attack Magic that showed his skill. However, the non-spiritual goat head didn't seem to have high enough defensive power to require such attack magic.

"Iguchi, go check on Horishita."

Iguchi was instructed to do such and hurried to the roof terrace.

He seemed to have left just the wounded companion in the church. I didn't know the situation so I couldn't judge, but I felt that he was cruel to his comrades.

I left where I was hiding and returned to my original path. When I called Akagi cold, Metis countered.

[ To kill the goat head, perhaps they decided that they needed four people. ]

"But, the goat head ran away."

[ It may have been looking for an opportunity to escape and strike again. I think it's a dangerous monster. ]

Did they choose to defeat it when they could defeat it. That judgment may be correct.

I found the stairs and went down to the 7th floor. As I went down the stairs one step at a time, I started to feel the cold. When I entered the 7th floor, I saw a coniferous forest.

"It doesn't look like it's snowing, but it's cold."

Since I might have a battle, I would stop wearing the expensive Heat Insulation Cloak and wear warm clothes. Actually, the Heat Insulation Cloak was more comfortable, but it couldn't be helped.

When I walked on the ground, there were places where it made a crisp sound. It looked like frost. I encountered a WhiteElk. A big white deer. Its body length was about two meters, and the horns on its head were intricately branched and the tip was sharply pointed.

The WhiteElk looked at me and spat out the grass it was chewing on. What did it not like about me. No, this guy was a monster who thought all humans were its enemies.

As it rushed forward with its horns turned towards me, I instantly killed the WhiteElk with a QuintBurningShot. I then explored the coniferous forest, but encountered only WhiteElk.

The only thing I learned from exploring the 7th floor was that this area was vast.

[ Should we investigate from the sky after all? ]

I nodded at Metis' words.

"Let's try flying a little."

I took out the Combat Wing and flew up. The coniferous forest was much larger than I expected. I flew for twenty minutes and found nothing.

I couldn't fly here without planning. I decided to go out and make a plan. I returned to the entrance of the 7th floor and went up to the 6th floor. And when I came close to the church, a part of the church exploded and was blown away.

"What's happening?"

I thought I'd go into the church and find out, but the current commotion might be Akagi and the others. I decided to wait for a while.

After waiting about ten minutes, Akagi and the others came out of the church. Akagi and the others were all smiling. They must have found some treasure. I should be able to find out if I checked with the Adventurer's Guild later.

The next day, I went to the Adventurer's Guild and asked what Akagi and the others had obtained. The church on the 6th floor was the church of a pagan god, and apparently had a treasure trove.

What Akagi and the others found was a jewel dedicated to a pagan god. It was said that they returned in triumph after obtaining famous gems such as diamonds, sapphires, and rubies, as well as gems whose names were unknown.

Maria, who told me about it, looked at me.

"Recently, I haven't heard about Grimm-sensei's activities."

"I suppose. There are times like that."

By the way, I learned why Akagi and the others were desperately trying to defeat the goat head. It seemed that if you defeated the goat head, you would get an item called 'Guidepost to the Treasure Warehouse'.
