Episode 189 Clarisse's purpose
"There is one thing you should be aware of regarding Clarisse."
As Takase walked beside me, he whispered.
"What is it?"
"It's about her age, it's top secret. As for asking her age, never do that."
"Maa, it is bad manners to ask a woman her age. I won't ask, but has anyone done that?"
"Once upon a time, there was a Foolish Hero, and he seems to have quit being an adventurer."
What did you do, Clarisse. Because A-class are monsters. Be careful with your words.
Upon arriving at the training grounds, Clarisse asked me to teach her how to use 'Blade'. Three logs were prepared and placed in the center of the training ground in a triangular shape about five meters apart.
When I stood in the center of the triangle and readied my staff, Clarisse tilted her head. The distance between me and the three logs was about two and a half meters, too close for 'Blade to demonstrate its maximum power.
After taking a deep breath, I jumped backwards while raising my Black Staff. I swung down the Black Staff while landing so that the distance from the log in front of me was 5 meters. As if chasing that movement, I invoked SeventhBlade and the V-Shaped Plate cut the log in half vertically.
While jumping to the right, I swung the Black Staff to the side. I moved as soon as the log was cut and rolled on the ground. I moved to a position of 5 meters away from the last log, I swung the Black Staff downwards diagonally. The V-Shaped Plate formed by that movement cut the log diagonally.(TN:By the way, a lot of the 'Black Staff' should be 'Black Thoughts Staff', but it's not easy to differentiate when I'm plowing through, so they tend to lose the Thoughts part. It's not a big deal, just thought I'd mention it. Also, it's annoying to type the full name every time XD.)
"Tres bien."
A smiling Clarisse applauded. Then Takase and the Branch Chief applauded. Other adventurers had stiff faces, others had surprised expressions, and so on.
"Wonderful. Especially the speed at which magic is activated is amazing."
"Since the trigger for activating 'Blade' matches the movement of swinging this, it activates quickly."
I showed Clarisse my Black Thoughts Staff.
"I see, so you're using your actions as a trigger for activating magic? That's interesting."
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
I prepared a log and had Clarisse execute multiple activations of 'Blade'. At first, it took a long time to activate, but she soon got used to it and was able to activate it quickly.
After I gave her a little advice, Clarisse learned the tricks and improved her Life Magic skills. This was probably why A-class adventurers were said to be monsters.
Seeing that the C-class Kamijou improved his Life Magic with tremendous momentum, I thought that C-class were monsters, but A-class were the real monsters.
Clarisse, who moved her body and fired magic repeatedly, was sweating slightly and was flushed. It was terribly fascinating, and the male adventurers who were watching were fascinated.
There were female adventurers among the onlookers, and they were also fascinated. There was something that attracted people in each of Clarisse's gestures.
"I would like to leave it at this for today and for you to teach me in the dungeon tomorrow, is that okay?"
"Of course."
As a reward for accepting the request from the Adventurer's Guild, I was promised to receive just three scrolls from among those kept at the Guild Headquarters. I got paid plenty, so I'll do my job.
The next day, I headed to the Narukami Dungeon. I met up with Clarisse and went inside.
"Grimm, are you going solo?"
"Yeah, I couldn't find anyone to form a team with."
"Is that so, I'm solo too."
It seemed that many of the adventurers ranked within the top 30 in the World Adventurer Ranking were active solo. It seemed that they couldn't form a team because their abilities were too different.
We proceeded by defeating Goblins and Orcs in the area with more grasslands, and entered the forest where OrcKnights lived. This was to raise Clarisse's magic level.
Clarisse used QuintBlade to defeat OrcKnights one after another. She lightly parried the OrcKnight's attack and decapitated it with a single strike from QuintBlade.
Her dancing movements were both splendid and terrifying. It looked as if the OrcKnight willingly gave away its life. It was probably because Clarisse was anticipating the OrcKnight's movements and attacking it.
Clarisse seemed to be dissatisfied with OrcKnights, and said she wanted to fight a BlueOgre.
"You can't kill a BlueOgre with 'Javelin' or 'Blade'."
"It's okay. After dealing damage with Life Magic, I'll kill it with my sword."
For Clarisse, the BlueOgre seemed to be treated as a small-fry.
When she actually fought against the BlueOgre, she used Life Magic to toy with it, and then killed it with a single blow from her beloved sword, Balmung.
"It looks like I've reached magic level 7. BlueOgres seem to be more efficient."
As was natural. It was a monster strong enough to be a subject for the C-class promotion exam. Clarisse defeated the BlueOgres one after another.
By the time the dungeon got dark, it seemed that her magic level had reached 8. As expected, A-class adventurers are monsters.
"Since the purpose is 'Wing', are there any other Life Magics that I should learn?"
"I recommend 'High Blade' and 'Sensing Zone'."
" 'High Blade' is an enhanced version of 'Blade'. What is 'Sensing Zone'?"
"It's the same detection system as the Attack Magic 'Mana Watch', and it senses the movement of monsters from the movement of D-Particles."
Clarisse nodded in agreement. Her eyes lit up when I told her that if she used 'Sensing Zone' often enough, she would be able to feel the D-Particles even when she wasn't using it.
The detection system of Muscle Magic strengthened the original five senses, such as hearing and sight, to detect signs. So, she seemed to be happy to be able to use senses other than those five senses.
Having learned and become proficient with 'Wing' and 'Sensing Zone', Clarisse returned to France.

After returning to France, Clarisse entered a large mansion on the outskirts of Paris.
"Emilian-sama, I have returned from Japan."
"I've been waiting for you. Was it not difficult to investigate the adventurer Grimm Sakaki?"
The person who asked Clarisse about Grimm was a blue-eyed man in his thirties.
"Luckily, the Japanese Adventurer's Guild prepared Grimm, so I was able to investigate without any trouble."
Théodore Emilian was France's prided Wiseman. As an adventurer, he was A-class, ranked 37th in the World Adventurer Ranking, but it was said that his ability was above the top 10 adventurers.
It was said that this was because Wisemen hide a number of unique magics that only they can use.
"Was he a Wiseman like me?"
"I couldn't confirm it, but I felt a response. Even if I was an A-class adventurer, he seemed confident that he was superior in some way."
Even as Clarisse learned Life Magics one after another, he watched over with a relaxed attitude. He was just like the Théodore she met a few years ago.
"Are the other Wisemen aware of this?"
"The fact that the 12th Wiseman might have appeared, they aren't aware. Even I studied the newly registered Life Magics in detail, and only just arrived at the fact."
Théodore wondered why so many new Life Magics had been registered recently, and researched them.
