Episode 200 FortSpider
Returning to the day I reported to the Adventurer's Guild about the Golden Pyramid Chamber.
After returning from the Adventurer's Guild, I rested in my apartment's living room. I took out the 'Scroll of Knowledge' from the storage armlet.
This scroll was a scroll that taught what the user wanted to know as knowledge. This was the result of appraisal with the Appraisal Monocle, but what did it mean?
Items such as this were not perfect. Knowledge should be limited, as this item could not know everything in the universe.
I couldn't figure it out, so I decided to try it. I spread the scroll and poured magical power into it. A list appeared in front of me.
It seemed to be an item that taught knowledge on that list.
[ What happened? ]
Probably because I made a strange face. Metis asked me. I told her that I had used the 'Scroll of Knowledge' and that I could see a list in front of me.
[ What kind of things are there? ]
"...
[ Are those things that Grimm-sensei wants to know? ]
"I'm not sure about Magic Circles, but the others I do. But, these are not the only things I want to know."
[ I think so too. 'How to be popular with women' or 'How to cure tone deafness' ... Maybe that's the kind of knowledge that can't be obtained from the 'Scroll of Knowledge'. ](TN:Subtle burn?)
Wow, what a sharp guess. In that case, the choice would be
I chose Sacramental Letters. At that moment, a passage opened in my head. The passage seemed to be connected to something gigantic. My consciousness flowed into the passageway and made contact with that gigantic something.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
It may be what Metis called the Dungeon Archive. It was a storehouse that collected information and knowledge related to dungeons and magic, and I thought it was similar to the Akashic Records, albeit on a smaller scale.
It seemed that my consciousness was connected to a small room in the Dungeon Archive, and I could freely use the information and knowledge there. The information and knowledge was related to Sacramental Letters.
I took out the metal slab with Sacramental Letters on it and deciphered it. The result of deciphering is that 'The Creator created a secret path in a layer that is a multiple of five, and hid the key to use it in the body of a wandering monster'.
When I told Metis about it,
[ What is the secret path? ]
"I don't know. I think we have no choice but to go to the 5th floor and confirm it."
[ Isn't that dangerous? I think that wandering monsters means Vagabonds. ]
Vagabonds were monsters that moved across floors. In many cases, they were monsters that were orders of magnitude stronger than Mid-bosses and Dungeon Bosses.
The message on the metal slab said that you couldn't get the key until you defeated the Vagabond. Metis predicted that there might be a Vagabond on the 5th floor.
In a floor deeper than with Wyverns and the like, I might fight a Vagabond monster that was much stronger than the monsters that lived there.
FIrst of all, I couldn't take measures unless I found the stairs that went down to the 5th floor and checked what kind of monsters were on the 5th floor. Even if I blindly created powerful magic, it may not be useful.
The next day, when I went to the Adventurer's Guild, I heard from Maria that a stairway leading down to the 5th floor had been discovered.
"Who discovered it?"
I asked Maria.
"B-class adventurer Akagi Shirou-san."
Red Castle, led by Akagi, seemed to have discovered it. When I heard about the state of the 5th floor, it seemed to be a mountainous area. It was said that many mountains were connected to form a mountain range, inhabited by various monsters.
"Are there any reports of formidable monsters?"
"I don't think so at the moment."
Hasn't the Vagabond been found. Did Metis fall short of expectations? If there was no Vagabond, then should I look for the secret path first.
While Maria and I were talking, Akagi himself entered the Adventurer's Guild. He came to the reception counter and started talking to Katou.
"There was something I forgot in yesterday's report."
Katou made a confused face.
"What is it?"
"There was a Vagabond on the 5th floor. A FortSpider."
"Ehh, a FortSpider you say."
Katou rushed to the Branch Chief's room in a panic. The FortSpider was a monster capable of annihilating a team of C-class adventurers.
Branch Chief Kondou came out from the back.
"Akagi-kun, is it true that there is a FortSpider on the 5th floor?"
Akagi smiled wryly and nodded.
"I'm sorry. I was tired yesterday, so I forgot to report."
Akagi, whose wry smile disappeared, said with a refreshing smile, and the Branch Chief glared at him with a face that looked like he had swallowed a bitter bug.
"No way, it wasn't on purpose, was it?"
"It's not like that. I was really tired and forgot. I'm reporting it properly now, aren't I."
Akagi said that and left.
The Branch Chief contacted the completed Dungeon House of the Narukami Dungeon to see if anyone had entered the Narukami Dungeon aiming for the 5th floor.
As a result, it seemed that three teams went inside saying that they were going to the 5th floor.
I asked the Branch Chief how strong the FortSpider was.
"No way, you're not going to fight it solo. The FortSpider is a monster that's one, no, two times stronger than the FireDrake."
According to Branch Chief Kondou, the FortSpider's defensive power was on an order of magnitude. Its defensive power alone was higher than the EarthDragon, and it seemed to be a monster that even advanced Attack Wizards had a hard time defeating.
With that much defense, 'Cold Shot' and 'Lightning Shot' might not work. And the FortSpider was a giant spider. It was conceivable that my current Life Magic was not powerful enough to kill it.
