Episode 221 Goblin Town

I decided to train in Western Swordsmanship on the 2nd floor of the Narukami Dungeon. My training partners were Goblins. After switching on the black scale armor and activating 'Auto Shield', I entered the Goblin Town with the Light Sword Clau in my hand.

The first thing I encountered was a Goblin with a club. When I started pouring magical power into the Light Sword Clau, the weight disappeared from the sword. I swung down the Light Sword Clau, which I held in one hand, at the Goblin that raised its club and tried to hit me.

The Goblin disappeared with that blow. The Goblins who saw their comrade defeated attacked in groups. I could see a HighGoblin, so I took out my Black Thoughts Staff and shaped it into a shield.

I turned my attention in all directions while slashing away the Goblins that rushed towards me with clubs. Of course, it wasn't like I was checking with my eyes. I was trying to detect moving objects using my D-Particle sensing ability.

My ability to detect D-Particles had improved considerably. It wasn't enough to replace my eyes, but I could see the position of monsters and feel large movements. However, the range was about 10 meters in radius.

Even if one Goblin didn't pose a problem, it became difficult to deal with them when attacked in groups. While blocking the Goblins' attacks with the round shield, I repeatedly cut the Goblins with basic slashes with the Light Sword Clau, which had no weight.

In the midst of such repeated battles, the HighGoblin unleashed a spell. It was a magic like the Attack Magic 'Bullet'. However, if 'Bullet' was a bullet, then the magic released by the HighGoblin was an iron ball the size of a golf ball.

Its power was great, but it didn't have the speed of 'Bullet', so it didn't have penetrating power.

I used the round shield to parry. It was powerful enough to injure the wrist if received from the front. However, it was easy to defend by parrying it slightly diagonally.

Metis spoke to me when I finished defeating about 30 nearby Goblins.

[ Grimm-sensei, it looks like you're having fun. ]

"Maybe so, it's fun to learn new things and be able to use them in combat."

[ It would have been nice if you could have managed the Wraiths with Life Magic. ]

"It can't be helped that Life Magic, which is based on manipulating non-spiritual D-Particles, doesn't work against spirit-type undead."

If I could defeat Wraiths with Life Magic, I wouldn't learn Western Swordsmanship.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

[ However, is it a coincidence that you were able to obtain the Light Sword Clau at this timing? ]

"I think it's a coincidence ... but, is there a horizontal connection between dungeons?"

[ I can't say for sure that it doesn't exist, but I think that even if it does exist, it will be rare. ]

In order to restore my magical power and physical strength, I took out the Immutable Bottle and drank some All-purpose Recovery Medicine.

"Fuuh, it looks like the second wave is coming."

I reapplied 'Auto Shield' and prepared to fight.

When I finished defeating the second wave of Goblins and HighGoblin, I got the knack for handling the Light Sword Clau. By the way, I don't think I would have been able to continue fighting without the All-purpose Recovery Medicine.

Even though I used the Light Sword Clau roughly, it didn't have even leave a single scratch. The only ones left in the Goblin Town were the town mayor GoblinMayor and the HighGoblins.

If you were in such a situation, I think you would run away. But, monsters didn't run away. Was it because they knew they would be resurrected?

There was a HighGoblin with a sword. HighGoblins could not only use magic, but there were also individuals that could use swords. I knocked away the attacking HighGoblin's sword with the Light Sword Clau and cut open the off-balance HighGoblin's chest.

In the end, only the GoblinMayor remained. This monster had a rugged warhammer. It was taller and stronger than me.

The GoblinMayor attacked by swinging its warhammer, making use of its physical strength. I dodged the warhammer that was swinging around while making a sound of cutting through the air, and struck the Light Sword Clau into its arm.

Its arm was cut off along with the warhammer. Just as I was about to finish off the screaming GoblinMayor, the monster unleashed its magic. A ball of fire flew at me.

I reflexively intercepted with a QuintOgrePush. At the same time, my magical power that was flowing into my Light Sword Clau was interrupted. It was difficult to activate Life Magic while pouring my magical power into the Light Sword Clau.

I let go of the Light Sword Clau, whose weight had returned, and slammed a QuintColdShot into the GoblinMayor's chest. The GoblinMayor died in one blow.

[ At the last minute, you made a mistake. ]

"Since the enemy was defeated, please overlook it."

Even though I said that, I thought that I still had to continue my training. If using 'Fushin' became as natural as walking, my skills would improve dramatically.

By the way, the moment I defeated the GoblinMayor, I felt something inside my body emit a thumping sound. The magic level of Life Magic had risen. Rather than being because of defeating the GoblinMayor, I was on the verge of it rising by defeating the IronDragon.

This was magic level 17. Komugi came out of my shadow. Komugi went to the area where the GoblinMayor died and came back with something in its mouth.

[ It's the drop item of the GoblinMayor. ]

What Komugi was holding in its mouth was a Magic Pouch. It was a storage magic tool with a capacity of about fifty liters.

"I have the Storage Armlet and the Goblin King's Magic Pouch, so I don't need a Magic Pouch with only a small capacity."

[ Then, can I have it? ]

"Will Metis use it? But, it would be hard for Komugi to carry around."

[ I have considered that. I'm thinking of upgrading Komugi's body. ]

The magic core was what could be said to be the individuality of a Shadow Puppet. It was said that if you switched the magic core into another body made of Shadow Clay without destroying it, you could upgrade it.

For those who thought of Shadow Puppets as pets, upgrading may be difficult. This was because the body was destroyed once. However, it was possible for someone like me who thought of it as a familiar or a tool.

"Then, let's go home after collecting the magic stones."

I used 'Magic Stone' several times to collect the magic stones, replenished the All-purpose Recovery Medicine inside the Immutable Bottle, and then returned to the surface.

After that, I trained several times, and it was around the time when the season changed to winter that I felt that my skill with the Light Sword Clau had reached a passing mark.

I didn't think this training was in vain. In the future, I might encounter monsters that could only be defeated by the Light Sword Clau. When that time came, even if I started training in Western Swordsmanship, it would take time to master it.

Master Mitsuhashi also said that I should actively acquire skills that were best acquired while I was young.

When I resumed clearing the Narukami Dungeon, there were people watching me. Those who were stuck in the capture of the 7th floor. The 7th floor was referred to as a cold coniferous forest area.

The climate was similar to the Siberian coniferous forest area around September, and it seemed that it sometimes snowed. This coniferous forest was vast, and it took a long time to investigate.

As such, there were adventurers watching me who could investigate from the sky. For me, it was more important to conquer the Wraith group on the 6th floor than the 7th floor.
