Episode 147 Magic Intelligence
The day after I heard about the new dungeon. I met with the Adventurer's Guild Branch Chief to confirm what I should do to qualify for the C-class promotion test.
"Does Grimm want to explore the Narukami Dungeon too?"
Branch Chief Kondou looked at my face and asked.
"Of course. By the way, you decided to name the new dungeon Narukami Dungeon?"
"That's right. The land called Naruoka was originally called Narukami no Oka. That's fine, but you've just become D-class. You must be a C-class adventurer to dive into the advanced dungeons."
"I know that. That's why I came to ask what conditions you have to meet in order to be eligible to take the C-class promotion test."
The Branch Chief nodded.
"Normally, it is a requirement that you have five years of experience after becoming a D-class and that you are active on the 30th floor of an intermediate-level dungeon.
I was dejected, but I wondered if it was still possible.
"I thought I heard that if you defeat a FireDrake on the 30th floor, you will be qualified?"
"Ahh, that's in the Branch Chief's recommendation category. Adventurers who have the ability to defeat the FireDrake can be specially recommended by the Branch Chief and qualify."
"That's it."
I said with a smile.
"I don't think so, but are you going to kill the FireDrake?"
"Yeah, if I defeat it, can you recommend me?"
"If you actually defeat it, I'll recommend you. But, you didn't form a team. Are you planning on killing it solo?"
"If I form a team now, it will be too late, so I plan to defeat it solo."
"FireDrakes are powerful monsters. I think that sounds reckless?"
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
"I did some research on the FireDrake. I wouldn't say something like this if I didn't have a chance at winning."
"Adventurers are responsible for themselves. I won't say anything more, but don't force yourself."
I confirmed what to do with the evidence that I defeated the FireDrake. Then, it seemed that the FireDrake would always drop a black magic stone
After confirming my eligibility for the promotion exam, I headed to the magic item store near the Adventurer's Guild. The magic tools sold in this shop were made by magic craftsmen, not from dungeons.
I entered the store and looked at the products in the case. Magic hotplates, magic counters, level gauges, etc. were lined up.
"What are you looking for?"
Asked the store owner.
"I'm looking for eyes and ears magic tools."
"Ahh, Sorcery Eyes and Sorcery Ears."
The Sorcery Eye was a magic tool that sensed light with a magic sensor and fed the scene into the user's brain as an image. A magic tool used by people who had lost their sight.
The other, Sorcery Ear, was a magic tool that sensed sound waves and sent them to the user's brain. As for why I want such magic tools, it's because the Magic Intelligence said it wanted them.
The total of the two was 1.2 million yen. I paid in cash and got a receipt. The Sorcery Eye was like a black go stone, and the Sorcery Ear was shaped like a coin.
"People who use these, how do they use them?"
I asked the owner.
"It seems that many people use Sorcery Eyes by incorporating them into things like hair bands. Some people wear Sorcery Ears like badges."
I asked Hirosue, the leather craftsman, to make a hair band out of leftover Steel Lizard Leather. I asked him to incorporate the two magic tools into the headband. Hirosue tilted his head, but he accepted the order.
He told me it would take about two hours, so after killing the required amount of time, I paid the price when I received the ordered item.
"Somehow, the expenses are increasing."
I returned to my apartment, took out the Magic Intelligence from my Magic Pouch and put it on the table. I put the hairband next to it.
It seemed that the Magic Intelligence could connect to nearby magic tools and control them. The Appraisal Monocle was also controlled in the same way, but since the Appraisal Monocle sent unnecessary information, it seemed that it was not suitable as a substitute for an eye.
Also, the Sorcery Ear was a substitute for an ear. Since the conversation with me was established, I thought that it had hearing, but it said that it was reading my thoughts.
I didn't want it to read my thoughts, so when I asked it what could be done, it said that it couldn't read a human's weak thoughts without touching the Magic Intelligence.
"Can you use the magic tools I purchased?"
[ Video and audio have been sent. However, I still can't understand the language. ]
My Magical Intelligence guessed what I said and answered. It seemed that it was possible to send thoughts from the Magic Intelligence to me even if I didn't touch it. It seemed that the strength of thought of a Magic Intelligence was different.
In no time, the Magic Intelligence began to understand Japanese and some English. It learned it by talking with me and watching TV for a full day. By the way, I named my Magic Intelligence 'Metis'. It was the name of a Goddess in Greek mythology.(TN:This whole time of reading the raws I was considering Metis to be male, but with it being the name of a Goddess, I guess it's female. Shows how missing one or two things by reading raws can change things a lot.)
In the past few days, I wasn't just dealing with Metis. I also researched information on the 23rd to 30th floors of the Suigetsu Dungeon and prepared to defeat the FireDrake.
However, I hadn't come up with a way to prevent the FireDrake's flame breath. Besides, the problem of how to defeat a monster that flies freely in the air had not been solved.
"For now, let's capture up to the 29th floor."
After making that decision, I headed for the Suigetsu Dungeon. When I went to the Mid-boss room on the 20th floor, there was someone there already. It was a team called 'Tsukika-dan' that specialized in mining blue silver.(TN:Moonflower/moonlight party. It could also be Tsukihana-dan, I'm not sure how exactly to read it. 月華団)
"Hello, please let me camp together."
A man who seemed to be the leader of Tsukika-dan stared at me.
"You're the guy who mined blue silver together with Hougetsu-san."
"Yeah, I formed a team for a bit with Hougetsu-san."
"Branch Chief Kondou seems to be favoring you, but dungeons aren't easy."(TN:Always, always everyone in every novel looks down on everyone else, so annoying.)
He was a good person if you considered him to be giving advice to his juniors, but I couldn't judge him yet. For the time being, I meekly listened to the advice and began to prepare the camp.
