Episode 220 Legend of the Light Sword Clau
I went to the Adventurer's Guild reference room and researched what was known about the 6th floor. Monsters such as Phantoms, SkeletonKnights, Wraiths, and BoneGolems had been discovered in this ruined area.
Among them, Wraith was the most troublesome. Phantom was the lowest rank among the spirit type undead, and Wraith was the highest rank. The Phantom was an intangible existence, but the Wraith seemed to appear as a human being.
Wraiths were said to be the undead souls of dead soldiers. Even though they were soldiers, they were soldiers from long ago, so it was normal for them to be a Wraith with a sword or a spear.
However, since they had no physical body, it was impossible to defeat them with a normal sword or spear. They moved while floating and attacked with swords and spears. When the attack hit a human body, it seemed to paralyze them.
And, if a Wraith's weapon hit their head, heart, etc., a human would die. The troublesome thing was that the swords and spears that Wraiths wielded were also spiritual beings, and could not be blocked by ordinary shields.
I thought I could prevent it with 'Protective Shield' and 'Magnetic Barrier', but I felt like it would be useless because magic attacks didn't work.
I decided to give the Black Thoughts Staff another form. It was in the shape of a small round shield. Since the Black Thoughts Staff had been submerged in the Spirit Fountain, it was endowed with the holy attribute. This round shield should also have the holy attribute.
"The problem is that there are times when Wraiths attack in groups instead of by themselves."
[ Does the Light Sword Clau have a special attack? ]
"Who knows, I couldn't investigate that much with the Appraisal Monocle."
There were several legends about the Light Sword Clau. It seemed that the same sword had appeared in the world before. There were people in the world who researched and announced such legends.
I went to Yamanashi Prefecture and bought information from a person who was researching the legend of the Light Sword Clau. According to that information, it seemed that there were two Light Swords, Clau and Solas, who were brother swords.(TN:Yes, this refers to Claimh Solais. The swords are called Kurau and Solasu here. I can't find anything pertaining to these twin swords however. So, probably just author stuff.)
That was the only time in history that both of them had come together. At that time, it seemed that they defeated a powerful monster. Solas only appeared in the world once, but the Light Sword Clau appeared in the world several times, and it remained as legend.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
In the information I obtained, one of the abilities possessed by the Light Sword Clau was written. With an ability called 'Fushin', it was said that if magic power was poured into the sword while imagining flower petals dancing in the wind, the Light Sword Clau would become light as it danced in the wind.
Since the Light Sword Clau was a heavy sword, it was basically handled with both hands. However, it seemed that those who had mastered 'Fushin' would be able to handle it with one hand.
Apparently it took practice. I didn't want the exploration to be delayed, so I wondered if I could do something about a group of Wraiths with Life Magic. I tried to create a characteristic like
The D-Particle Primary Mutation could not create a characteristic like
"This time, I can't solve it with Life Magic."
[ If you add the holy attribute to the blue silver rapier, wouldn't it be possible to use it? ]
"Even a rapier weighs more than 1 kilogram, so it seems I need the skill to handle it."
In the end, if I was going to practice, it would be better to be able to use the Light Sword Clau. I decided to practice Western Swordsmanship. Even so, there was no dojo where I could learn proper Western Swordsmanship, so I would have to buy a book and learn by myself.
[ Grimm-sensei, you know a Western Swordsman, don't you? ]
I tilted my head. Who was Metis talking about?
[ It's Karina-sensei. What she's using is a vermillion steel rapier. ]
Come to think of it, I had seen Karina wielding a vermillion steel rapier like she was dancing. I forgot about it until Metis told me.
"I see, should I learn from Karina-sensei."
The next day, when I negotiated with Karina, she said that in exchange for learning Life Magic that she couldn't buy from the Magic Agency, she would accept it. I taught Alisa and the others, but there were some Life Magics I didn't teach to Karina. She wanted me to teach her.
Since I was planning to register them with the Magic Agency one day, I agreed.
"By the way, how are those four?"
"Is it about Yuuki-san-tachi's exams?"
"That's right."
"It seems that the brain activation method that Grimm-sensei taught them worked effectively. Since they got the hang of it, they seem to be gaining more and more ability."
"That's good."
Karina who heard that frowned.
"Is something wrong?"
"It seems that only those who can manipulate magic to some extent can learn the trick of that brain activation method."
I thought it couldn't be helped. Because magic manipulation was the basics of it.
"I also taught other students, but only some of them were able to master it. Knowing that, some people are complaining about why they weren't taught to manipulate magic early on."
"Since something new was started, it's impossible to get a perfect score from the beginning. There is no choice but to put up with complaints and dissatisfaction."
Karina let out a sigh. I decided to take a break from karate training and started practicing Western Swordsmanship. After learning the basics of karate training, I had come to the stage of applying it to fighting in the dungeon, so Master Mitsuhashi said that I should go there if I wanted to spar.
Having learned the basics of Western Swordsmanship from Karina, I tried to see if I could apply it to a battle using the Light Sword Clau. It was difficult to imagine the flower petals dancing in the wind while pouring the magical power into it.
If I didn't pour the magic into it like a thin thread, it would run out quickly. I thinned the flow of magical power and poured it into the Light Sword Clau without a break.
Then, the weight of the sword disappeared. It felt like I was wielding a sword made of paper, and I was worried about whether it would have any power.
So, I slashed at a thin log. The blade of the Light Sword Clau that hit the log cut it in half with almost no resistance.
Karina was surprised to see the log cut in half. That was because the current slash hit only lightly, and I didn't put much power into it.
"That's a scary sword. If you had a sword like that, wouldn't you have been able to slash the IronDragon?"
"If I could have slashed the IronDragon's neck with this, it might have been defeated."
The sharpness of the Light Sword Clau was so amazing that it made me think such. It may be sharper than the Slash Strengthened Blade created with the magic of 'Flying Blade'.
When I was learning Western Swordsmanship from Karina, the number of adventurers who had a bad experience with a group of Wraiths on the 6th floor increased. However, they were all adventurers working in teams, so they were able to withdraw safely with the help of their comrades.
Some of the adventurers seemed to hesitate, but the veterans knew how to deal with it from experience, and continued their exploration of the 6th floor and paved the way to the 7th floor.
