Episode 137 The Critic

Episode 137 Critic

After several days of testing 'Protective Shield', I found and fixed the bugs. I completed something that I was satisfied with, so I registered it in the Sage System.

After that, four magic circles were prepared for learning. In addition, I prepared a magic circle and an explanation for registering with the Magic Agency.

The next time I met Alisa and the others at the Adventurer's Guild, I bowed and apologized.

"It's a scroll that you only just entrusted me with, but after all, it was something that people with specific conditions were forced to learn when they saw it. So, I ended up using it."

Seeing me apologize with a serious face, Amane laughed.

"Isn't it true that Grimm-sensei also makes mistakes?"

"I messed up, or rather, I had to look at it to be sure. When I looked at it, I automatically learned the scroll."

"What kind of magic was it?"

I expected the question, so I had an answer prepared.

"It's a life magic called 'Remote Plate'."

I didn't want to lie, but I couldn't say it was for the Sage System. I explained the 'Remote Plate'. After hearing that, Alisa and the others seemed to think that it resembled 'Wing'.

I made 'Wing' based on 'Remote Plate', so it was only natural that they were similar.

"My mistake ruined the scroll belonging to all of you. So, I prepared a Life Magic in return. Please excuse me with this."

Alisa and the others were ecstatic when they asked what kind of Life Magic the 'Protective Shield' I gave them in return was. It seemed that they were worried about what to do about the magic bullets fired from the OrcKing's spear.

"But, I think this Life Magic will be quite valuable. Is it really okay?"

Alisa asked with a slightly uneasy look.

"I don't mind. Register it with the Magic Agency and share the license fee amongst you. However, since it's a magic that can't be learned until magic level 9, it may not make money for the time being."

When it came to Life Magic, I was the highest with magic level 13, followed by Alisa-tachi with '10', followed by Karina and Kamijou with '8'. There was no one other than Alisa-tachi who seemed to be able to learn 'Protective Shield'. Karina and Kamijou would learn it shortly in the future, but it was still just the two of them.

When I thought about it, I came to realize that Life Magic still had a long way to go. It looked like it would be a long time to come before Life Magic would be on par with Attack Magic and Muscle Magic.

As for the 'Protective Shield', I asked Alisa and the others to say they obtained it in the dungeon. It was also to prevent the Magic Agency people from claiming they're Sages. Well, Life Magic other than 'Protective Shield' was also being registered one by one, so it might not mean much.

Alisa-tachi and I had a discussion and decided to make it possible to quickly activate the 'Protective Shield'. Including the actual combat training, we discussed how to capture up to the 20th floor of the Suigetsu Dungeon.

Alisa and the others began practicing 'Protective Shield' at the magic academy's training ground. It was a practice of attacking each other with only 'Javelin' without multiple activations and defending with 'Protective Shield'.

Karina saw the practice,

"Wait a minute, what is that magic?"

"Oh, didn't we tell Karina-sensei? The scroll we got when we defeated Garm was this 'Protective Shield'."

Karina was surprised when Amane explained.

"If I had such magic, how much easier would my activities in the dungeon have been ..."

"It will be the age of Life Wizards."

When Amane puffed out her chest and said that, Karina felt the same way.

Alisa asked Karina.

"The third year students, what level have they reached?"

Alisa was curious about how much Life Magic the third-year students who were about to graduate had learned.

"At least magic level 5, 'Push', 'Cone Arrow', 'Thunder Bowl', 'Airbag', 'Blade', and 'Javelin' have been learned. With that much Life Magic, they can become an F-class adventurer."

Actually, Grimm wanted them to learn the eleven Life Magics that Grimm had set as a standard for a full-fledged person, but there were many students who said magic level 5 was their limit while studying for university entrance exams.

Karina told the third-year students that if they continued to study Life Magic even after entering university, they would become full-fledged Life Wizards. The students seemed to be grateful to Karina, as they felt she did the best she could for them.

However, some third-year students decided to give up on university and become professional adventurers. Karina said that she would continue to teach such students.

"Come to think of it, Life Magic will be added to the third-year classes, right?"

"Yeah, Life Magic will be added as one of the optional subjects."

It seemed that Karina was supposed to teach third-year Life Magic.

"Come to think of it, the Weekly Adventurer reporter I met at the exchange meeting said that she would come to interview us.

A few days after that conversation, Onizuka Emiri and Tajima Youichi, an Attack Wizard and magic critic, visited the Magic Academy.

They knew Emiri's face, but they had never met Tajima, so Alisa and the others greeted him and introduced themselves.

"Finally, I got permission to put together a special feature on Life Magic, so I was able to come."

Even within Weekly Adventurer, Life Magic seemed to have a low reputation. At the exchange meeting, Emiri noticed the potential of Life Magic and appealed for a special feature, but it was finally granted under certain conditions.

Emiri, who seemed to be infatuated with Life Magic, was thought to be unable to give a fair evaluation of Life Magic, so Tajima was supposed to accompany her as an evaluator.

Emiri complained that she had a boss who didn't understand. Tajima let out a faint smile.

"Because you were making a ruckus about the next era being Life Magic."

"Really, I think that."

"However, aren't Life Wizards not even D-class adventurers?"

Alisa interjected.

"No, a D-class Life Wizard does exist."

Tajima stared blankly at Alisa who interjected.

"Excuse my impoliteness. But, what about C-class?"

"He's not there yet. But, I think he will be C-class or B-class soon."

"Fuun, is that true. Becoming a C-class or B-class means working in advanced dungeons. It's going to be difficult if you don't have the ability to beat a BlueOgre solo."

Tajima said he wanted to meet the D-class adventurer who was a Life Wizard, but Emiri stopped him. That's because the interview with Alisa and the others hadn't finished yet.
