Episode 113 - The Magical Wizard Wataru Kamijo

Episode 113 Muscle Wizard Kamijou Wataru

Tesshin was also watching Taichi's Life Magic, but he was impressed.

"I thought Taichi's magic was amazing. It's a common thing for it to be a little off the mark, isn't it? I think it's what comes afterwards that's important."

I understood what Tesshin wanted to say. In actual combat, it wasn't like you could cast magic in perfect condition. He was saying that it was important to respond like this when your aim was off.

"I understand what Tesshin-san is trying to say, but last time I fought a Cyclops, I missed my aim and wasn't able to kill it. I thought that the hit rate and accuracy would be issues in the future."

Tesshin made a surprised face.

"W, what's with that ... Even though you just became an E-class just a little while ago, a Cyclops has to be overdoing it."

I took out my adventurer card and showed it.

"Geh, it's D-class."

Tesshin sat down on the ground and made a face like a defeated soldier.

"That kind of skit is unnecessary."

"What are you talking about. It accurately expresses my feelings. Becoming a D-class adventurer means that the guild has recognized your ability. Grimm is amazing. Compared to that ..."

"Even Tesshin-san, you should do your best from now on, right?"

"That's right, but a Muscle Wizard's active life is short."

"Then you should do your best as a Life Wizard."

"I see, is Life Magic an option."

"Are you worried?"

"Somewhat. My Life Magic talent is 'D'. Magic level 10 is the limit. After that, I have no choice but to eat 'Fruit of Talent'."

What's this 'Fruit of Talent' that I have never heard of. When I asked about it, Tesshin told me.

"It's a fruit that grows in a special place in advanced dungeons. Eating the fruit raises your talent rank."(TN:They're so cheat I don't know why people don't just max all their talents to 'S'. Probably because people in this world have an IQ in the single digits.)

It seemed to be common sense for C-class adventurers and above who were active in advanced dungeons. But, I heard it for the first time. Even if I said that, it was only natural because I didn't know much about advanced dungeons.

Putting aside the Fruit of Talent, there were many people whose talent for Life Magic was 'D'. It seemed to be the case for Yukari and Karina. Therefore, when creating Life Magic, I tried to have it learnable at magic level 10 or less as much as possible.

"Returning to the topic, whether or not you can get by with Life Magic, I think you can work up to the 20th floor of an intermediate level dungeon."

"Is it possible to capture an intermediate level dungeon?"

"I don't know. I've only been to the 19th floor of the intermediate dungeon."

"Is that so."

I said so, but I thought it would be impossible to capture with the current Life Magic. Attack Wizards defeated monsters by selecting magic that exploited the weak points of monsters from among a large number of magics.

However, there were not enough Life Magics to choose from. You had to defeat formidable enemies by making full use of the few magics. Even though Attack Magic had magic dedicated to defeating specific monsters, it was a big difference.(TN:Basically, using physical/non-elemental magic for everything when weaknesses are elemental like fire/wind/water/etc.)

After chatting with Tesshin and Taichi, I parted ways and went back to my apartment. Then, I lay down on my bed and thought about the junior Life Wizards like Taichi.

If I was serious about my juniors, I would have to show them the way to become adventurers by revealing magic that allowed them to live as full-fledged adventurers.

I wondered what the minimum Life Magics would be necessary for my juniors to become full-fledged.

'Push', 'Cone Arrow', 'Thunder Bowl', 'Airbag', 'Blade', 'Javelin', 'Thunder Arrow', 'Sensing Zone', 'Auto Shield', 'High Blade', and 'Wing'. I wondered if they could become an adventurer with that.

If you were aiming to become a top adventurer, you would need 'Ogre Push', 'Catapult', 'Heat Shell', etc., but if it's just to become a full-fledged adventurer, eleven Life Magics would be enough.

Among the eleven Life Magics, sic were not registered with the Magic Agency: 'Thunder Bowl', 'Airbag', 'Thunder Arrow', 'Sensing Zone', 'High Blade', and 'Wing'.

Although it was not possible to register those Life Magics all at once, I thought about registering them with the Magic Agency. The reason I didn't register them all at once was because it took about a month to register and publish one magic, but it took two months to register and publish two magics.(TN:Dumb system, they should just release 1 a month if it's gonna take a full month to register for each additional one instead of waiting until the end to release ALL AT ONCE. But, no, it's more fun to make people come in to register a new one every month, which is overall more inefficient.)

I didn't know what kind of paperwork and procedures were necessary, but it seemed that the more magics to process at once, the longer it would take to be published. So, after registering one, I'll wait until it's published before registering the next one.

'Wing' was likely to be popular among the Life Magics I was thinking of registering. I thought that some adventurers would want to raise the magic level of Life Magic in order to use 'Wing'.

After thinking about that, the next day, after registering 'Thunder Bowl' at the Magic Agency, I went to the Suigetsu Dungeon and practiced 'Ogre Push'.

I wasn't going to find the ArmorBear's den until I could shoot the seven-fold SeventhOgrePush without charging.

When I was satisfied with the SeventhOgrePush, I received news that the monster detection device had been completed from Shishido Magic Studio, so I went to Tokyo to pick it up.

After receiving it and returning, I tried it in the Suigetsu Dungeon. I was satisfied with the fact that the monster detection device I set would sound an alarm when a monster approached. I also bought a tent and sleeping bag, so I could camp in the dungeon.

At the same time, C-class adventurer Hougetsu was reading adventurer-related magazines at the local Adventurer's Guild.

"Oh, isn't this Grimm."

In the magazine, there was a special feature on Vagabonds. Among them were pictures of the adventurers who defeated the SteelLizard, as well as the appearance of Grimm.

"Hougetsu, did you get the blue silver?"

The person who spoke to him was another C-class adventurer, Kamijou Wataru. He was a vanguard Wizard of 'Shinra Banshou'. Kamijou had a bandaged left arm.

"Of course. ... Did you get hurt again?"

"Oh, complete recovery in one month."

"Because you're unreasonable. Change your specialized weapon."

Hougetsu told him to change his weapon because Kamijou's weapon was a short sword. Kamijou was a master of Kodachijutsu, and he used a Magic Weapon, a Wakizashi, to defeat monsters.(TN:Kodachijutsu > Kodachi = short sword, jutsu = technique.)

The Magic Weapon was a Wakizashi with effect, which was extremely effective against monsters whose defense power was increased by magic. However, since it had a short reach, he was often counterattacked and injured.

"Don't joke around. No matter how long the reach is, there are monsters that you can't defeat with normal weapons."

"In that case, change that Wakizashi into a Naginata."

Kamijou frowned. He also changed his weapon to a Naginata. However, he returned to the Wakizashi because it didn't feel comfortable.

Hougetsu looked at the magazine featuring Grimm.

"Kamijou, do you have a talent for Life Magic?"

"What are you talking about?"

"It's fine, answer me."

"Life Magic, it's 'C'."

Hougetsu let out a sigh with a complicated expression.

"What are you saying?"

"I envy you. I want to learn Life Magic, but I have no talent at all."

"Why are you bringing up Life Magic?"

Hougetsu talked about the Life Wizard adventurer he met in Shibugami City. Hearing that, Kamijou seemed interested.
