Chapter 3 Intermediate Dungeon

Episode 100 Desert Flight

An article was published in the weekly magazine 'Shibugami Dungeon' about the process of defeating the monster called 'Vagabond' that appeared on the 4th floor of the Suigetsu Dungeon.

Because of that, I got a lot of attention and had more opportunities to meet adventurers who wanted to hear about Life Magic. Even if it has increased, it's still only about once a week, so it will probably disappear soon. There are still few people who recognize the fact that Life Magic can be used in dungeons.

Hirosue, the leather craftsman, informed me that the saddle was ready, so I go to pick it up.

"Hey, here you go."

Hirosue, who is in the back of the workshop, is checking the finished saddle.

"Try it out."

I go out into the garden and activate 'Wing' to form a D-Particle Wing and attach the saddle. After straddling the saddle and fastening the seat belt, I fly a little.

Hirosue is staring intently at the situation. It seems fine.

"It seems to be fine."

"Good. I'm letting my disciples make the parts for the girls' saddles, so please wait a little longer."

"Thank you for listening to my unreasonableness."

"It was quite an interesting job. Next, I'll start working on the armor using the SteelLizard leather."

After paying the price and putting the saddle in my Magic Pouch, I go to the Suigetsu Dungeon. After diving into the dungeon, I head to the desert area on the 13th floor.

I decide to fly with the D-Particle Wing to my heart's content in that vast desert area. I arrive at the desert area and activate 'Wing'.

After attaching the saddle to the D-Particle Wing, I straddle it and fasten the seat belt. I put both my feet on the stirrups and step on them and jump up. I fly towards the center of the desert. As I fly forward, ascent, descent, turn right, turn left, and go backwards, the wind hits my body and makes me feel exhilarated.

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

I fly over the desert at about 30 kilometers per hour and reach the center of the desert. There should be a staircase to the 14th floor under this. I take out the Magic Sensor and search for something that emits magic.

"I found it. There are stairs over there."

I easily find the staircase that is also a magic device. What was extremely difficult when I walked in the desert, has turned into something easy.

I don't go down the stairs. I'm only going to test the D-Particle Wing today. I search for monsters while flying over the desert. After about 3 minutes, I find a PetiteSalamander, and fire a QuintJavelin from the sky to kill it.

After enjoying the flight for a while, the speed of the D-Particle Wing slows down.

"Is time running out."

I land and watch the D-Particle Wing disappear after the time expires.

I activate 'Wing' again, put the saddle on, and take off. I find a SandWolf, circle around it, and shoot a QuintThunderArrow to kill it.

I fly over the desert and hone my flying skills. It seems that I can also swoop down and attack monsters. However, it would be better not to do it in normal hunting, as the sudden G's take a toll on my body.

Since I am satisfied, I decide to return to the surface. After returning to the ground, I take a shower at the Dungeon House and change clothes. When I put the equipment in my Magic Pouch and go outside, the scenery is dyed in red.

"It's already evening. Did I play too much in the desert."

After finishing dinner at a beef fowl restaurant on the way, I go to the Adventurer's Guild.

When I am about to return after exchanging the magic stones, I am caught by Tesshin.

"Grimm, you used lightning-based Life Magic. Can you teach me too. Please."

"Tesshin-san and the others were active on the 12th floor, weren't you?"

"That's right. We also want powerful weapons."

I am told that Tesshin's Life Magic is magic level 5. When it comes to lightning attacks, it will be 'Thunder Bowl'. I received a lot of information from Tesshin, so I give him the magic circle as a present.

"It's fine. I'll pay you."

"It's okay. I've been taught various things by you."

"If you say so, I am very grateful. By the way, solo adventurer Hougetsu Kijuurou is coming to the Suigetsu Dungeon."

Adventurers who are active solo are rare, and even among them, those who are C-rank or higher are featured in the weekly magazine 'Weekly Adventurer', which sells the most.

"Heee, what is Hougetsu-san's purpose in coming here?"

"It seems that he intends to dig the Blue Silver deposit on the 19th floor and obtain Blue Silver."(TN:Blue Silver, 蒼銀, Google search comes up with some mistranslated FSN stuff. Guess I'll just leave it as Blue Silver for now, though it could be Pale Silver. There's some weird metals in this novel.)

Blue Silver is a metal required for the production of magic tools. It is more expensive than gold, and is in demand to the extent that there are adventurers who specialize in mining it.

"Is there a team specializing in Blue Silver in the Suigetsu Dungeon?"

"Ah, there's a C-class adventurer team called 'MoonFlower Party'. It's a well-balanced team with two Attack Wizards and two Muscle Wizards."

I think it's unbalanced with the fact that there isn't even a single Life Wizard, but that's fine.

"That 'MoonFlower Party', are they interesting?"

"I suppose. However, the Blue Silver deposits don't belong to the 'MoonFlower Party'."

The Blue Silver deposit is located on the 19th floor, so I have never been there. It seems that Tesshin has been there before with his previous team. The team he was in before creating the Tesshin Team was 'Unprecedented'.(TN:空前絶後 is something so good/bad that is the first time of being seen, and probably will never be seen again.)

There was a time when it was popular to use four-character idioms as team names, and it seems that the team was created at that time. It seems that it was a D-class adventurer team.(TN:空前絶後, 4 characters.)

Katou from the reception calls my name. What is it?

When I go to the reception, I receive an unexpected request. They want me to go to the 19th floor with Hougetsu. Hougetsu is looking for an adventurer who has the ability to go to the 19th floor and can use the Life Magic 'Pure' that can extract only the target metal from the ore.

"Aren't there a lot of adventurers who can use 'Pure'. Why choose me?"

"Yeah, that's right, but most of them are on a team, so they turned me down."

I want to go to the 19th floor. It will be convenient for me if Hougetsu will take me there.
