V5: Chapter 140 This Is Dinner.

!!!!! Pr Credits To Draconis Von BloodTrap &  Dragonofsomesort  Who Constantly Help With SR chapters, Please take the time to rep them for their work :)

Just a heads up Draconis wont be pring chapter 142 as he has Rl obligations :)

So i'v decided to release a special release for you guys, strangely im in a good mood even though with this new beta update my stories rank has gone to  70 something o.o i wont let it get me down like i'v said i'v had my reader base and regardless at this point i can only grow il leave the rankings to the others. (:( yeah yeah im a little salty about it leave me alone!)

Some more good news, the artwork should be done pretty soon i got the 3rd copies of the drafts and i'm liking how they are looking right now. i don't mind the appearance for limos and god at this stage, limos isn't completed and with each new fragment given it will change so i'm not overly worried about the reception for the picture when received by you guys.

I'v found Two Prs for Ethereal sovereign and tonight i sent the Raw copy off to the shop to get fixed if you catch my drift. When its done and i'm satisfied with it not just in Pring but with changes i may make to my previous writing, i'l send it to be released. to those i havent replied to who have offered i truly apologize, o.o some interesting offers to say the least.

Some other things Gods heart/Dark Matter core/Dark heart. take your pick, or Avrins heart. Some of you may have forgotten but Dark matter is creation. I feel i haven't touched upon this aspect enough so in the next few chapters you will see me tinkering with this to progress Avrin as a character and the story.

People don't like what they don't understand or things they aren't used to, Spectral Regalia isn't a story that follows all common cliches and story lines, my main intention is to give everything more freedom and expansion. With 5 universes i don't plan to cut anything short.

I truly hope you guys like these next few chapters i'm putting 110% effort into improving myself and i like to think i'm improving at a decent pace.

If i have any hopeful authors who want to or plan to write a story that read this, i can tell you this as advice. do not flood your beggining with to much content, settle your start and slowly progress things, draft out the first few chapters and write down general plot ideas before writing/typing, it really helps. its taken me 2 years or so to realize my mistake and comparing quality now to my first volume, its the distance between heaven and earth? i believe they say.

So on an ending note, i'v added a poll in regards to an idea someone pmed me awhile ago. Please feel free to vote or not, also i hope to see more random guests register and comment about how they feel about the chapter or discuss it a bit. :)

Regardless enjoy.

A look of surprise followed by excitement could be seen on Calomia’s face. She could tell at first glance Avrin wasn’t simple. Anyone who lost their legs and an arm would all but give up hope and live the life of a homeless person where every second was a struggle to live, but as she looked at Avrin, from the second they met she could see he didn’t pay too much attention to it, as if he was 100% certain that he would grow his limbs back.

She quickly moved her hands around a small satchel at her waist before pulling out a four pinky nail sized pieces of crystal that seemed to have a small, very transparent blue mist that was barely noticeable within the crystal’s center.

“These....these are me and little Ilisia’s life savings that I have gathered over the past eight years...” Calomia, holding those lucent crystals, saw that Avrin extended his hand over to her as if he wanted to take a look. “Mm...” she quietly murmured, somewhat reluctant. “I won’t take them… Look at me. It’s not as if I can run.” he joked to reassure her.

Calomia was in dire straits. Lately, life for her and Ilisia had become tougher. The villagers were more aggressive and it was becoming harder for her to get work because of the war. Despite it being beyond the borders of the city, many men had gone off to draft themselves, leaving their families to fend for themselves. This meant that women and children would need to work and do tasks, and why would the villagers pick Calomia over friends and family who could do the tasks instead of her and Ilisia, who they disliked to begin with. The choice made was quite easy in their eyes.

She composed herself and handed Avrin one of the lucent crystals, still feeling a bit nervous. She didn’t hand him any more and even carefully watched him from only a couple of steps away.

Avrin ignored her as he took the crystal and held it up in front of his eyes. “-Incredible...-” Avrin was shocked at what he was seeing. These crystals were clearly identical to something he knew too well. “-A faint trace of mist that is made from mana within the crystal. It’s as if I am gazing at the mana equivalent of a dark core… Could these...there is no way in my current state I would be able to replicate this. The only option is to profit, but the energy within these crystals is definitely pure mana-”

Avrin looked at Calomia and gave a forced smile. “Calomia, please forgive me...” Calomia blinked, her old, withered skin quivering a little in confusion, but she had an odd feeling. “Forgive you? What do you mea-” she didn’t finish, as her mouth opened in a slackjaw manner. This was because she saw Avrin open his mouth and place the lucent crystal within, swallowing it.

Her hair stood on end as her old legs trembled, her eyes seemingly wanted to cry but it was as if the tears had dried up. She could only point her boney finger towards you. “You....you!”

Avrin closed his eyes for a second and the moment the lucent crystal entered his stomach the dark matter pounced at it, causing the crystal to dissolve as if it were being burnt away by molten lava. The mana within it was cleanly converted to dark matter that was used on Avrin’s body. Avrin felt a little relief before giving an odd smile. “-More... I need more… If I can find a good source of these crystals, I should be able to kickstart my body-”

Avrin then turned to look at Calomia, who looked as if she was a ghost. Though he knew why she was looking like this. “Don’t fret. Give me some time and I’ll repay you back a million times more.”

Calomia calmed down in a near instant, because the thought of being repaid with such an amount was the perfect medicine. “Avrin, was it! You need to promise and swear by the Four Heavens that you will keep your word!”

Avrin looked at her oddly. “-Four Heavens?-” Though he disregarded this and spoke solemnly. “You have my word, under the Four Heavens, that I will repay you with one million of these lucent cryst-” he was suddenly interrupted by Calomia, who grunted and quickly spoke.

“No no no!! If you can promise me a million Haze lucent crystals, what am I going to do with all that! Where would I store them? Just promise to get me one Azure lucent crystal and this debt will be done. This way I can improve little Ilisia’s life.”

Avrin listened and then spoke as he found this a little bothersome but entertaining nonetheless. “I promise under the Four Heavens that I will repay what you have given me with an Azure Lucent Crystal.”

When Avrin spoke, Calomia seemed to ease up somewhat. She then ‘hmphed’ and slammed the point of her walking cane onto the wooden floor. She was about to speak, but Avrin had done so first. “By the way, what is an Azure lucent crystal?”

Calomia’s face paled and her eyebrows began to twitch rapidly. Several hours later, after berating Avrin in regards to making a promise for an item he didn’t know about, she explained everything to him about the types of lucent crystals and their values and who may have them, and even talked to him about profitable methods and profitable jobs. Her knowledge in this field was quite good. Avrin assumed she must have worked hard to find a way to sustain herself and Ilisia that she had no choice but to try and research many things.

After she was done, Ilisia returned with some fruit, wild vegetables some bird eggs that she definitely had a hard time obtaining. One could tell by the dirt on her face and the dirt on her white dress that she was crawling around and climbing a tree.

“You naughty child! How many times have I told you to not dirty and ruin your dress! You only have that one dress. Ah, why do you wear it so much!” Calomia shook her head as she began to look over the goods that Ilisia obtain. Ilisia pouted and frowned. “Grandma, I can wear what I want. I love this dress and I don’t like the other rough clothes we have, they look funny and are itchy!”

Avrin was sitting on a chair at an uneven table. The chair itself was made roughly and seemed as if it would break, its legs were made uneven with some being too thin and one being incredibly thick, as if it were just mashed together with random sticks.

He was using a flat, thin piece of bark to act as parchment and used ink made from a variety of flowers and common minerals. He was listing some things and drawing some diagrams.

“-Haze is one, Unclouded is one-hundred, Luminous would be one-thousand, Cored is ten-thousand, Crystalline is one-hundred-thousand, and Azure is one-million. Calomia said she knew that above Azure was Radiant, but she was unsure of the equal value. But above Radiant there were more. Very interesting. These lucent crystals are quite strange. They are almost certainly the mana equivalent of dark cores, but they seem natural compared to mine-”

Avrin was quietly thinking as he listed the values and names of the crystals mentioned so far. He found that if he was thinking too hard in his current state it would exhaust him somewhat, so he asked Calomia for this wooden bark to use as parchment and she happily agreed. He didn’t think she would be so willing, but knew he owed her an Azure lucent crystal which was most likely the reason she was a bit more friendly.

Avrin, focused, suddenly stopped as a strange looking object was placed in between him and the wooden parchment. “Hmm?” he turned to see Ilisia giving a cheeky grin and laughing. “Mister Avrin, you will like this! It’s called Bellybush Root. It’s yummy and is a little savory like meat. It’s really a rare thing to find, but I think you deserve it!”

Avrin glanced at the Bellybush Root which was somewhat similar to how ginger is shaped, except the outer skin looked more like a lemon. It had an orange color with some brown patches, but one could see it had been cleaned. It didn’t look appealing at all, but Avrin happily grabbed it and took a bite. The texture was crisp like a carrot, but as for it being savory, it was nearly non existent. Avrin turned to look at Ilisia, who had a somewhat nervous smile that seemed a little sad.

“-This is savory?-” Avrin felt bad. He had only taken one bite before giving it back to Ilisia. “Actually, you can have it. How about I treat you to a proper meal when I get better?” Ilisia was about to refuse, but she saw Avrin’s serious look and could only accept. Yet inside she was overjoyed. She loved the taste of the root. “A proper meal? You mean meat and side dishes?” she asked in a confused manner.

“Indeed. Until you feel as if you will explode.” he smiled warmly. He felt pity for her. He realised that she had very, very rarely eaten good food, including proper meat, that this bland, nearly tasteless root was considered a rare delicacy that was like meat to her. He also owed her a lot because she helped him.

“Ahh, meat and side dishes!!! You have to promise this to me, Mister Avrin!” Her eyes widened and she gave a serious expression while looking at Avrin, her little body shaking with eagerness, and she was drooling a little. “I promise. Now go help your grandmother.“ Ilisia jumped for joy. It would be a wonderful sight had it not been for her dirt covered appearance and near ruined dress. She rushed outside while eating the Bellybush Root as she went to go fetch some water.

Avrin looked at the parchment again. He had listed several things and even crossed out some. The names that were crossed out were alchemy, blacksmithing, mercenary, adventurer, fishermen, builder, and soldier. He had many reasons for doing this. These all had their ups and downs. Alchemy and blacksmithing were crossed out because they would make to much of an impact at this stage, but he decided once he gathered enough funds and a better understanding of the world he was in, he would revisit these options in the future.

This was something he wanted to do, mainly with alchemy. He had a feeling that he could do something amazing with lucent crystals, but for now would put it off. Mercenary and adventurer would be something that was based on time and risk for profit. The risk part he didn’t mind. He knew that on this world it would probably be very rare to find someone who could give him a good fight, even in a weakened state.

Mercenary was something that would put him in the spotlight if he did the job. This was because he knew he would be doing good and it would draw attention from people who would want to hire him. A soldier was the same deal. He didn’t want that path, as it would build up connections he didn’t want and give him a sort of obligation.

The name that wasn’t crossed out was interesting. “-A vendor. Basically a merchant, huh. I guess it’s not so bad. I would be working on my own terms, and it would allow me the sort of connections that I would need to get information. But like a soldier, it would leave me with the risk of building unwanted connections that always pose a risk of trouble, but at the same time it is also an interesting job.

Though I shouldn’t need to worry about this, there are always many risks and advantages and nothing in the past went my way. If I do well, what’s to say I can’t build a network of information spanning a galaxy. But if things go badly, I may be permanently on the run. For now, I’ll play it safe and gain experience. I know where to start-”

Avrin used the thin, makeshift feather pen to circle around the word vendor. A smile crept onto his face. He thought of a rough set of goals. One was to establish himself on this planet, the next would be to find where Seleria was placed. But this was not a real issue for him, because he knew due to his specifics when speaking to God it would be a place no one but him would be able to visit unless someone used a fragment to trade, which was highly unlikely due to the incredible rarity those possessed. They could not even be tracked unless an Inheritor made it known.

“Boy, come eat!” Calomia’s words rang out. Avrin frowned before muttering to himself. “I would gladly do so if I had legs...” he sighed before smiling faintly.

Time passed, and Avrin had spent nearly a month under Ilisia’s and Calomia’s care. Both his legs had grown back and he had some strength, but it was nothing special.

Avrin’s body had healed in a strange manner. It stored dark matter within both stumps and in one night had regrown both his legs. The next day, when Calomia saw Avrin had regrown his legs, she nearly had a heart attack. Ilisia had taken it much better and was excited and awed, even asking if Avrin could teach her how to do that.

Though Avrin was also feeling happy because he was now out and about. He loved being able to walk on his own without having to be cared for like a baby, though he was truly grateful to both of these two. Despite having just about nothing other than a run down home with barely scraps of food, they still treated him good and took him in with no ill intentions.

Avrin, despite still missing an arm, was quite happy, even going as far as to accompany Ilisia on a foraging trip. The two of them were currently exploring the forest not too far from where she found him.

“Mister Avrin, this is great, this is great!! Look, it’s a Popper mushroom!” Ilisia nearly went wild as she pointed to a mushroom that was half the size of an average umbrella. It had several white lines but looked like an overgrown Shiitake mushroom in shape, but the color resembled a simple white mushroom.

“That’s quite big,“ Avrin said with curiosity as he looked around. Right now, he could feel the mass of dark matter within the stump of his missing arm. Once that was healed, his body would focus on healing the rest and improving the state of his dark matter heart, which seemed dormant. Avrin couldn’t even feel the energy of any of his Skymetal equipment, which left him quite cautious.

“Mister Avrin, tonight we can have mushroom stew! We have some left over vegetables, this will be a great treat.” Ilisia showed more excitement as she took out a wooden knife and began to cut some pieces off the large mushroom.

While Ilisia was tending to that, Avrin suddenly winced slightly. His nose twitched a little, and his pointed ears also twitched. Despite being weakened greatly, his body still had its sensitive traits. He could hear the faint sound of rustling and also smelt something familiar. “Blood… Should be about one-hundred meters from here.“ Avrin turned to look in the direction where the smell and sound came from. He turned to look at Ilisia and spoke.

“I’ll be back, you can return without me.” Hearing Avrin, Ilisia’s mouth opened to reply, but as she turned around to look at him, she saw he was already gone. Although Avrin was wearing his half complete black clothes, he still looked like a dark ghost, carefully making his way across the outer forrest, nearing the inner parts without making a sound. Every branch and every twig as well as anything that could be stepped on and crushed to make a sound was avoided without slowing him down in the least, as if it were natural for him to do this.

He didn’t even need to look, as his enigmatic eyes were focused towards the source of the bloody scent. The smell of this blood was obviously from a beast, yet Avrin felt strange. He didn’t feel interest, what he felt was his dark matter and particles jumping around, not with excitement but with hunger, as if they were waiting for their parent to feed them.

Avrin was careful. The closer he got, the stronger the scent became. It had gotten to the point where he found traces of thick, gooey blood and broken branches. “-A wounded beast? Perfect-”

Avrin approached an open area and cautiously hid himself behind a tree. He regulated his breath to help keep it controlled and soon turned his head around the corner to peek and see what was over there. What he saw wasn’t anything uncommon within the laws of nature, but it piqued his interest.

The corpse of a creature no larger than a deer but with crocodile-like scales and a lizard-like head was being eaten by an armless, furred creature with a large bone horn that emitted a soft blue light. The furred creature resembled a sort of fat hippo crossed with a sloth. It was not appealing, but Avrin didn’t care much. He bared his teeth. He was gazing at the corpse, the hunger that usually was constantly fed and suppressed began to rise and an aura of bloodlust surged out.

The furred creature, which was chewing mouthfulls of meat, stopped for a moment and turned around in surprise, quivering slightly. Avrin saw that it only had one eye, almost like a cyclops. As it gazed in Avrin’s direction, he knew its senses were sharp. Avrin didn’t feel the need to hide. He stepped into the open and smiled at it.

“Hey buddy. You don’t mind sharing, do you?” Avrin smiled coldly at the furred creature which cautiously looked back. As if understanding Avrin’s intention was to steal its meal, it roared almost like a small lion, with bits of meat shooting flying onto the ground.

Avrin bared his seemingly perfect set of teeth and his smile widened to show a near crazed look. “Oh, that’s fine. I’ll just eat you instead.” He dashed towards the creature. Despite being weakened, he had regained some strength. After all, he was a being that could match up to a High Deity.

The creature quickly felt something ominous and turned its horn to face Avrin. The horn began to emit static, which shot towards Avrin, who seemed as if he misjudged the creature. The lightning bolt hit his chest and he was pushed back several meters. As his feet slid across the ground, a small patch on his chest was burning and the clothing was destroyed. The creature began to roar as it charged towards Avrin with the intention to impale him with its horn. Its fury surged out and its worry was gone, replaced by anger towards this pitiful looking individual who interrupted its meal and tried to steal from it. But as it grew close, Avrin lifted his head and gave a twisted smile.

“How about an Umbral Cirrus,” he spoke softly. The stump on his arm suddenly surged with dark matter before it exploded outward towards the creature with hundreds of tendril-like appendages. The creature was stunned, but it was to late to stop, it could only continue with its attack reluctantly.

The tendrils formed from the gathered dark matter suddenly swapped from whip-like appendages to sharp spikes. Avrin simply willed them forward and the spikes smashed against the charging creature, skewering it in a near instant. It was almost too gruesome to see, as it was turned into a shish kebab. Even as it was raised up by the tendriled spikes formed from the dark matter that had gathered at Avrin’s stump of an arm, it didn’t seem to way too heavily on him.

The tendrils suddenly reverted back and began to expand and contract. At the same time, this happened the creature’s body was being covered in dark veins and it began to wither and grow smaller, as it was being converted and devoured. Avrin sighed in relief. This was not a waste of energy at all. He risked it, but it had paid off. This had sped up his recovery. To him, this creature, although not as pure as the lucent crystal, its mass of mana was enough to count for ten Haze ones.

The process of absorbing the creature took no more than a minute, and when it was done the tendrils formed under Avrin’s attack, Umbral Cirrus, returned and suddenly began to coil together near the stump. In a few seconds, they formed the shape of an arm, and a dozen seconds after that, Avrin was complete. He was no longer missing any limbs and even had a bit of energy to add to his reserve.

“Perfect.” He glanced over towards the corpse of the crocodile-like dear and began to walk towards it. He knew if it remained here for long it would attract more creatures, and he knew if he dragged its corpse while it was like this then they would follow its scent. He simply reached over with his arm and ripped off one of its meaty, scaled back legs before he turned to leave. Almost at the same time, many roars and howls of creatures getting nearer sounded out.

Back at the cottage, Ilisia was sitting at the table with a sad look. “Grandma, do you think he will come back?” Ilisia seemed to be worried and afraid. This was because she had someone else to treat as a friend other than her grandma.

“Him? He sure as hell better. He still owes me!” Calomia also had a sort of worried expression. It had been nearly an hour since Avrin left Ilisia, who returned and told Calomia about what happened. Though right after Calomia spoke, another voice sounded out. “Didn’t I promise under the four or something heavens that I’d pay you back? I said I would keep my word.” Avrin approached and opened the door that seemed as if every time it was used it would break off.

“Mister Avrin, you’re back!” Ilisia jumped up happily and approached. “What’s that?” She stopped and looked at what Avrin was holding. Calomia turned to look at what Avrin had after hearing her granddaughters words, though the moment she saw it her eyes bulged slightly and her prune-like lips were covered in saliva. “T...that’s!”

Avrin looked at her and walked over, placing the scaled leg onto the table and gave a simple reply as if he didn’t consider what he did as anything special. Even more so, he considered it bad because he wanted to bring the entire body but couldn’t due to safety issues at this moment “Hmm? Oh, this is dinner.”
