As Avrin waited worryingly at her words, they had finally come out “What I want from you, Avrin, is to know what your ability truly is…” Avrin blinked. It wasn’t what he expected as he had thought it was something perverted. But this seemed to be even worse in a manner of speaking. “Syrana, that’s a little…” Before he finished, she huffed and cut him off “What’s wrong? Surely the information is something you need?..”
Avrin titled his head “But it isn’t equal to the information you want...Besides, what would you do with it. Something like that, I don’t trust you with. I’m sure you would use it against me in a heartbeat, so I have no desire to tell you..”
Syrana grumbled and eyed him, as if showing him a poker face. “Fine..I suppose you are right..” Avrin only rolled his eyes as it was obvious that he was right. Syrana continued to speak. “Very well then, how did you end up in the forest to begin with Avrin? Why were you destroying it and killing the creatures?..”
Avrin blinked, this was a good opportunity for him to clear things with her. “Fine, I'll tell you. Maybe this will ease tension between us.” He went over and sat down again. Syrana doing the same opposite of him.
He began to tell her from the start of his journey about how he was executed and the reason why and how he was reincarnated. But he left the part regarding God and anything to do with his power out. In fact, he had only told her that he had been given this body and awoke in the forest with only his past memory of his universe.
He then told her about his struggle to survive and get used to his ability without giving her too much information. Only the basics. Syrana, as if like a sponge, absorbed everything. She was hesitant to believe him at first, but felt as if he were telling the truth. Her gaze towards him seemed to be less aggressive as he continued on.
Avrin spoke “From there, I was attacked by both groups of creatures...I had no other choice but to fight and protect myself...In the end I killed them all and captured one that I experimented on, I admit. Though that was probably not the best of ideas…”
Syrana huffed. “You’re telling me.. Regardless, it seems your actions were justified. But to experiment with that vile dark magic on a captured creature is heartless”
Avrin chuckled and grinned “I already said I regretted it. Stop rubbing it in...Besides, in the end it ran off..I made it stronger but I guess its clan did not agree…” Syrana blinked as she gazed at Avrin who seemed to be annoyed and a little sad.
Avrin spoke again “The creature came back to me covered in the blood of itself and its kin..They didn’t accept it back and tried to kill it...In the end, when their leader tried to kill it, I felt obligated to help it. At that point I already felt regret. It reminded me of my past and it angered me. So in return for them killing it when it came to me with hope, I killed them.“ Avrin showed a dark menacing gaze at the fire as he remembered it.
Syrana quietly gazed with awe at him and spoke “I’ve no comment for your actions...I can feel your regret towards it, so I will forgive you for now...But this changes little between us...Even though the Neophat is alive…”
Avrin blinked as he looked up at her. “A..Alive?!” A near innocent smile appeared on his face which made Syrana blush faintly and look away as she replied “Y..Yes, but its arm had to go...Such a vile thing couldn’t remain in the forest..”
Avrin blinked. “Why would you!! If it was alive it surely must have been near death..” Syrana turned and gazed at him and replied. “So I thought as well….But it seemed like the arm, after being removed from the body, liquefied and then went over the wound on its chest as if it recycled itself and was sentient...We took it back and locked it away for safety and to try and heal it, but…”
Avrin was amazed. It seemed that regrowing an arm seemed to have an even better effect than he imagined “Incredible, I never realised it was that useful”.. Syrana stood up and roared. “Useful?!! You interfered with the laws of life! After it healed itself the wound on its chest healed quickly and that dark magic spread around its body. It broke out of the cell and ran away, we tried tracking it but it left the forest before we even put a group together”
Avrin tilted his head and smiled. “I’m glad that it’s alive. I would like to meet it again someday and make it up to the creature. If it doesn't try to kill me” Avrin chuckled slightly but Syrana only sighed and gazed at the fire.
Things seemed a bit quiet now that things have been explained. It was somewhat awkward. But Syrana spoke out. “Ehm...Avrin, if your story is indeed true, then I apologise for half of why you were sealed away…” Avrin tilted his head and snickered. “Only half?..” Syrana then glared and shot daggers at him. “I’m sure if you were left alone, than the entire forest would be like that Leophat..”
Avrin only chuckled at her dumb reason, before speaking “Since your so forgiving and apologetic for tonight, do I get one for you admiring me while I was bathing?” He grinned and stared at her as if she were a sort of criminal.
Syrana only stood up as if protecting herself “N...No, I was just..checking to see if you were up to something and also intended to see how strong you had gotten…” Avrin spoke “Well as you saw, I'm quite happy to say I'm significantly stronger than I was before.” He then stood up and approached her as he sat beside her, gazing at her.
Syrana blushed slightly and tried to scoot away slowly, but seemed to somewhat enjoy him being near her. Even more so for the fact that things have been somewhat cleared up. “A..Avrin, what are you..?”
He spoke before she got the wrong idea. “A deal is a deal Syrana. Please let me see the spirit stone now.. “ Syrana made a dull look as she had thought he was making a move on her, but held her left hand out to him as she formed the inactive stone.
Avrin began looking at it closer. “Incredible, so it forms using mana...I don't think I would be able to mimic its creation to the point of its usefulness...Syrana, who invented the spirit stone?” Syrana, feeling somewhat obligated to educate Avrin considering he was still new to Seleria, began to speak in a sort of teacher tone. “The spirit stone was invented by a good friend of my fathers. His name is Albert L.Grym, a human archmage”
Avrin smiled and gently emitted a nebula mist over the spirit stone which made it turn dark. Syrana quickly brought it back into her body as mana “What were you planning?!!” Avrin blinked and placed his hands on his lap as he gazed as if he did nothing wrong. “Uhh, I was just examining its structure to see if I could create one of my own…”
Syrana was quiet before speaking “It’s impossible. The spirit stones must be obtained in a capital city from one of the mage guild branches there. Made specially from an ore that is capable of being turned into mana and being absorbed into the body..But I know from your words that your ability has to do with creating things” She grinned slyly.
Avrin stood up and dusted himself off “You’re smarter then you look. I should give you more credit for deducing that...But I won't say anything else unless you answer this. Is it possible for me to meet this Albert L. Grym” Avrin spoke eagerly, awaiting her reply.
Syrana chuckled and shook her head. “I’m sorry to say that he died a century and a half ago” Avrin looked somewhat sad and Syrana wriggled her nose and cleared her throat and spoke “But his bloodline lives strongly. Last I heard, one of his kin is the leader of the mage guild and continues his families study of spirit stones and more”
Avrin’s face lit up happily again as he smiled and bowed. “I thank you for that.” Syrana spoke again “Well give me a clue Avrin. Was I right or wrong?..” Avrin regained his posture and blinked “Oh, your deduction” He smiled “you’re right to a degree. Creation is one aspect of my ability. But that is all I shall share. Anyway, Syrana, I’m feeling tired so I shall rest. I’ll leave first watch to you”
Avrin chuckled as Syrana gave an angry pout as she had been tricked. But remembered something as she spoke while Avrin was about to enter the tent. “Avrin...For Ayame, she indeed has feelings for you, but she is young. I know you beat her badly and I take it the reason she feels attracted to you is only because she lost to you. That being said, please do not harm her mentally. She is important to me”

Syrana spoke a rare emotional side of her which made Avrin smile and speak “This is rare for you to be asking in such an emotional state.” He teased as Syrana glared. Avrin continued “But I’ll say this. I’ve no interest in a relationship for now. I want to focus on establishing myself in Seleria. I just have no interest. Besides, I would have no confidence in protecting someone I loved in a world with monstrous people.” Avrin smiled softly as turned around to enter, but words made him blink.
“Avrin...You know not all females are weak and fragile, needing your protection.. F..For instance, if we were to be together, I am more then capable of looking after myself. I’ve done so for centuries…” Syrana spoke as if hinting at her feelings. It seemed she had grown more fond of him after tonights events.
Avrin, with no hint of a romantic emotion, gazed at the tent. Away from her. “Syrana, after what has happened between us, I am still very angry...It is also too early as we have only now become on such a talking basis. Besides, I’ve no interest in someone who longs for my body alone.”
Syrana spoke out as if to explain it was different now that she had gotten to know him, but he continued to speak before her, as if to give her a bit of hope to improve relations, as it seemed to be more beneficial now. “But I'm sure maybe someday you will impress me. But until then there is a lot of anger for me to vent caused by you and your people.”
Avrin entered the tent as Syrana gave a saddened look, not uttering a word as she hugged her knees while gazing at the fire. As the night went on without a hitch, Avrin had woken up refreshed, and before eating, had entered a Pulsing Dragon state for a good hour, which energized his body even more so. As he got out of the tent Ayame and Syrana had already begun to pack their things. The fire pit was cleaned up as if it werent even there. Most likely due to Syrana’s respect of the forest.
Avrin spoke “Have you both gotten your things from the tent?..” He spoke firmly. Ayame nodded and Syrana replied with a ‘yes’ Avrin then raised his hand towards the tent as it began to disassemble into dark matter and absorb into his hand. Ayame and Syrana both gazed with awe and curiosity as they were amazed.
Syrana especially as she had wanted to learn more about Avrin’s ability. She was snapped out of her mini trance as Avrin spoke while he finished absorbing the tent quickly. “Syrana, do you think we could arrive before these 2 days are up?..”
Syrana was silent as she gazed at Ayame who seemed to smile back at her as her mind seemed to be cleared. Syrana spoke “If we leave now at full speed for a few hours instead of walking, I’m sure we could reach Langs lair in 16 hours, cutting the time down more than half”
Avrin turned and gazed at Ayame. “Ayame can you handle it?..” Ayame was silent as she looked at Avrin then shut her eyes and nodded as she spoke “I’ll consider it stamina training. If I can’t keep that pace up then I can’t be considered a White Dragon shinobi..”
Avrin nodded and got his own things that he had placed down as he absorbed the tent. “Very well. Lets go.” As the 3 of them finalized everything, they left quickly as they rushed through the forest, like lightning shooting through quickly. Although Syrana and Avrin had held their speed back for Ayame. Avrin in the past had been slower than her, but those couple of years of training made an astonishing leap for him. But he knew he still had a long way to go.
They continued on for 5 hours and Ayame was starting to feel fatigue as she slowed down. They stopped on a mountain path. Syrana pointed to a large mountain engulfed in greenery, with large trees sticking out of it as well as several clouds being split by its height.
Syrana spoke “Lang’s lair is located there, although we will have to be careful. There are creatures that worship it like a god that will protect the surroundings even against us. Especially the orcs”
Ayame shivered with disgust. ”Urgh..Or...Orcs...I hate them” Avrin didn't know how to react. He had never seen an orc before, but was eager to meet one and test his combat prowess. “Syrana, how strong are orcs exactly?” Avrin spoke as they rested for a bit for Ayame who seemed to be eating a sort of muffin/cookie made from the fruit like paste that Syrana made and cooked.
Syrana spoke knowledgeably. “Orcs at the most are as strong as a knight only because of their brute strength. Other than that they're not social to outsiders. They have Shamans for magic and can be quite tricky. And they do vary from area to area, so it will be hard to say. But I'm sure regardless, these orcs will pose no real threat to us as long as we keep our guard up”
Syrana had begun speaking to Avrin in a less harsh tone, which Avrin seemed to be pleased with. He had gotten quite sick of her past way of speaking and would not deal with it if it continued on. That being said he still intended to get revenge on her. And Ayame he was forgiving after he settled the score. After they had rested for a half hour and ate they made their way down the mountain path and entered a denser part of the forest that seemed almost swamp like as there were frog like croaks as well as chirping and the sounds of insects as well as a faint fog.
Ayame held her nose and spoke “Argh..T...That stench..” Syrana was used to worse as she had been in battle with countless dead bodies and blood ridden ground. As for Avrin, who had been to many different planets in his universe as well as battlefields, he was no less used to it then Syrana.
Syrana chuckled and spoke “It’s the natural gas of the forest. When the insects and plants decay and go back to the planet, they combine with the water and release this gas that acts as a sort of fertilizer for the plant life. Which in turn acts as food for the insects and the insects to the animals and so on”
Avrin was intrigued by Syrana’s view of natural habitats. He spoke softly “You're quite attuned to nature Syrana. I see Sylphs are truly children of nature.”
Syrana huffed and shut her eyes as they continued. “As children of Lenaya” She corrected and continued on “We must love all her creations. Even places like these..”
As Avrin nodded, they continued further. Avrin had augmented his left eye for safety as he had a feeling something was up. Syrana only gazed with curiosity at him as she saw his eye change. Avrin then raised his hand, signalling for them to slow down. He whispered.
“200 meters ahead of us there is quite a lot of humanoids. Easily more than a hundred.” Syrana only gazed at him with shock as she spoke “H..How can you see that?” Avrin only smiled and then grinned “Just one of my abilities. Besides, I want to know is it ok if we kill them. Or are you going to hound me for attacking?”
Syrana only glared at him “We won't attack them if there is no reason. We will go around. Regardless, they are creatures that live in the goddess Lenaya’s boundless gifts”
Avrin rolled his eyes slightly while Ayame made a sigh of relief and regret. It seemed she wanted to fight and relieve frustration but was also glad she didn't have to meet an ugly orc.
As the 3 continued on, Avrin used his augmented eye to navigate away from the orcs. At that moment, a child like scream roared out. With a heroic intuition Syrana rushed in the direction to go see if a child was in danger. Ayame had also followed after her.
Avrin only sighed before his augmented eye widened slightly in the direction they went off in. He could see a group of 3 humanoids with weapons that seemed to be large and somewhat muscular, and a small child like creature. But what he saw wasn’t the 3 of those humanoids attacking the child. It was the 3 of them trying to defend it from a large creature.
Avrin spoke softly as he looked at the creature. “That looks nearly identical to a…”
