i wanted to first apologize about the little late release one of my prs has exams comming up so he needed time for himself and the day they got finished my modem derped up so i went and bought a nice one so it never happens again ~_~
firstly i want to put a bit of a warning. this chapter and the next are both at a fair pace some of you may not like it but it is something that needs to be done. after these 2 chapters im glad to say that avrin wont be holding back anymore i have gotten used to the way of writing fighting scenes to a degree and anymore so would just be making him not seem powerful despite his potential.
i also want to focus on his particles a little and advancement to show you all how much potential it has and develop a proper skill-set for him. some of my readers may say this post is not required but i treat all criticism thats fair as important so my readers arent neglected. this also helps me improve.
some of you may pick up on hints and secrets that may be used later on but for now enjoy this chapter i had to review it carefully as i was worried it wasnt good but i guess its fine. chapter 81 will be released 3-4 days after this is posted.

Felia was the first to speak, as she had invested quite a bit into this dungeon. “What do you mean it's dangerous to venture further? Haven't you and Clovis dealt with all the threats so far?!” Avrin glanced at her through the eye sockets of the mask, gazing quietly.
“I'm sure he has his reasons. Right, Avrin?” Clovis spoke with a somewhat serious tone, while Kael dared not speak or interrupt anything. Avrin finished the last spoonful of the stew before placing the bowl down.
“That Draconian told me there is a stronger opponent here. Although I'm sure I can fight with it, I don't want to risk Kael’s safety. Half my reason for coming here, after all, is for his training.”
Felia grunted quietly. “Are you even listening to yourself, Avrin?! You come this far and you're backing out? Leave Kael with us and you do what you need. We can take care of him while you fight” Avrin listened to her. He had already considered this, but if by chance he dies, then he would be leaving Kael to die. He was certain that Draconian wouldn't let anyone get out alive after he is dealt with.
“We’ll continue ahead, and if I judge things to be too great a threat, you and your men are to take Kael outside the dungeon without waiting” Felia gave a sigh of relief. She knew that if Avrin where to leave, their battle potential would drastically decrease.
“Fine. Sounds good to me.” She let a soft smile out. “We’ll rest for a bit longer before we head off. Together, hopefully?” Avrin nodded. “It's probably for the best.” Avrin stood up and began walking off. “-If I’m to deal with another Draconian on that level, I need a way to conserve dark matter. There must be some way of achieving this-”
Making his way around the camp to his previous spot, he was met with a familiar voice. “Heya, Avrin!” Stopping to take a look, he saw Wyni with the large, menacing Legion Hammer behind her back. She had a look as if she had won the lottery. “Oh, it's you. Enjoying your new toy I see?”
Wyni couldn't help but giggle shamelessly. “This unique toy is really something. I'm sure I can do some real damage to the dragon things now. I can't wait to fight some more” She placed both her hands on her hips proudly, as her tail swayed around from behind.
“I’m sure you will get your chance.” Avrin quietly sat down cross legged, while leaning against the wall. His hands softly cupped together. Wyni rubbed her cheek and spoke. “I overheard what you and the others were talking about…. So, regarding Kael... You can leave his safety to me. As long as I’m around, not a hair on his head will be touched”
Avrin knew Wyni had feelings for Kael, but from the sound of her voice, it seemed to be deeper than just the usual love and care. “Does he really mean so much to you?” Avrin’s curiosity spoke out. Wyni immediately nodded. “Of course. He reminds me of my little brother back home.”
Tilting his head a little, Avrin felt it was something like this. “I see. Well, I leave his care in your hands than. “Wyni felt somewhat relieved. After nodding and thanking, Avrin she left, taking the hint that he needed his own time.
Meanwhile, within the depths of the dungeon, two large Draconians lay injured, while smaller draconians emitted mana around their bodies to try and heal their wounds. These two Draconians were none other than the 4 armed one as well as the agile one.
Although conscious, they decided to remain still. The 4 armed Draconian made slight grunting sounds and weird vocal sounds. The other Draconian near him, that Avrin had recently beaten, spoke. “I know! I'm going to tear that bastard to shreds… My eyes still burn from that weird magic tool he used… Big brother, are you really going to wait for him?!! Can't you go kill them all now!?... He stole my weapon!!”
A figure seemingly cloaked in some a sort of skin-like material remained seated, facing into a deep hole in the ground that was lined with crystals of all sorts of colors.
“They will enter my chamber next. When that happens, I will take responsibility for their judgment. You have shamed our kind by underestimating your opponent, and even lost such a treasured weapon. I knew the great one had spoiled you quite a bit. Reflect on your failure, Luzar”
Luzar, being the Draconian that Avrin had just defeated, stood up, shooing away some of the healers. “Brother! T...That's too far… He caught me by surprise, I had him!! That magic tool was a sneaky method… I would have defeated him!”
The figure in the distance stood up, as the skin material surrounding it shook slightly, before it began to move and extend, opening up to reveal a large bone-like structure, forming large wings. “Caught you by surprise? I was watching your fight using the control orb. You gloated so much, I’m glad he beat you silly.”
Turning around, he revealed himself to be wearing large, intricately detailed armor that radiated energy and showed his monstrous from. His face was more Draconic than the others, and gave off a powerful, ancient aura. “I'm leaving to prepare… Watch how I handle my opponent...” After speaking those words, he casually left through a dark tunnel similar to the one Avrin and the others had used.
Luzar bit his lips and slammed his fist into the ground, causing it to shake slightly. “Damn that dark magic user!! To let me lose so much face in front of big brother… I'll skin him, alive or not!!”
While the Draconians prepared for the third encounter, Avrin began to contemplate things, as he would occasionally emit a small sphere of dark matter and throw it a few meters away, only for it to light up for a moment, draw in some mana, and then vanish.
“-This is ridiculous. What am I doing wrong? Dark matter is limitless, there should be a way to use it to attack more conveniently-” Raising his gauntlet clad hand; he clenched it, causing the metal to make a quiet clanging sound.
“-My next fight won't be easy. I’ll have to be cautious. The last two opponents I could grasp an idea of their strength, but this next one, if he is indeed stronger, I will have to change my hand up a little-”
With time passing on, the mercenaries soon began to pack up their stuff. Avrin, who had continued to tinker around with his ability, stood up, somewhat satisfied with a few results. Making his way towards the door, he spoke to Clovis, who leaned against the frame.
“This next fight is going to be difficult, but the opponent is mine...” Clovis seemingly sighed. “Oh come on, you have already had two of them. Avrin blinked, before grinning under his mask. He had decided to agree and let Clovis be used to gauge the opponent's strength.
“Very well. But when you lose, I'm up next.” Clovis chuckled. “You gave in so easily? Hey, you're not using me to test him, are you?” Avrin remained silent. It seemed experts indeed thought a little alike.
As Avrin made his way to the door and pushed against it, Clovis grew a little nervous at Avrin being quiet at his question. The mercenaries under Felia and Wyni soon gathered up, with Kael in the middle section, where some elites were.
The completed group soon entered the tunnel that gave off a cold, heavy chill. Avrin gazed down, using his Divine Sense, but understood he couldn't see anything but the mana of the structure’s materials. “-And yet, this aura is so heavy. No doubt it will be interesting-”
Continuing on, the group ventured on with no trouble or Draconians appearing. Of course, this made them all feel nervous and afraid. “Why aren't they showing up anymore? Damn, this is nerve-wracking” Felia uttered while clenching the hilt of her blade.
“I bet they ran off with their tails between their legs when they found out Avrin beat two of the big ones, hah!” Wyni couldn't help but speak. Avrin and Clovis were extremely vigilant at the quiet situation. As they went on, the atmosphere grew heavier.
Avrin, having a bad feeling, spoke out. “Kael, come up here for a second.” With his voice echoing back, startling the mercenaries a little, Kael looked at Wyni, who smiled back at him, before walking off to the front where Avrin and Clovis were.
“Master, what's wrong?” Kael questioningly spoke. As they continued on, Avrin raised his hand and began to gather dark matter to form a Void Sword, taking the time to make it extremely durable and infusing it with enough energy to last at least a day.
Clovis gazed at the weapon and whistled quietly. “Conjuring weapons is a magic I heard only people on the Archmage’s level can do. No doubt you're a strange one, Avrin.” Avrin remained quiet and focused on the weapon, before he formed a short sword for Kael. The blade itself gave off a soft glow, with the surface a jet black and the edges giving off a purple glow.
The hilt itself was also the same, with the inner part jet black while the edges glowing purple. After finishing, he handed the weapon to Kael. “Keep this with you. In case something happens, use this. I'm sure even with your strength you can protect yourself better.”
Kael glanced at the Void Sword as if it were a priceless treasure. “M...Master, thank you!” A look of joy on his face as he took the weapon happily and attached it to his waist belt next to his main weapon. He then bowed to Avrin after stopping, and went off to his prior position.
Clovis smiled at Avrin. “You really are worrying about that boy so much. Don't you think it was a bad idea bringing him here?” Avrin didn't bother to lie, as his words held truth. “Indeed. It was a foolish idea, but the lesson learned will be greater with the more danger it holds”
Clovis nodded. Traversing for a full hour with no enemies, everyone was hoping a group of Draconians would appear to alleviate their nerves at least. But it wasn't until they came across a large door with glowing yellow runes on it that everyone’s breathes stopped for a few moments.
“Behind this door is no doubt a creature that is confident enough to handle us without even wearing us down with its minions.” Avrin uttered to Clovis, who in turn cracked his knuckles before walking over to the door, pressing his hands against it.
But with only a light touch, the door flung open, revealing a lit interior with a flat surface tiled with what seemed like marble. But the area itself resembled a mini arena, as large torches decorated around in a circle spanning several dozen meters.
In the far center was a Draconian seated cross legged, with a greatsword emitting a devastating aura on his back, which made Avrin feel a chill run down his spine. The pattern on the sword was of a dragon, but the blade of the sword was glowing red and yellow. Avrin had no doubt it could cut him in half if he wasn't careful.
Clovis gazed at Avrin, who seemed to be quiet. “What, you're scared of that Draconian? Ha, watch me beat the shit out of him” The Draconian who wore armor under the skin-like wing material did well to conceal his appearance as he sat down.
Soon, the mercenary group entered and surrounded their area, while Avrin and Clovis entered further in. Clovis jumped over the large torch and landed onto the torch ring as he began to stretch. “Evening lizard. It's a great day to feel my fist in your face, right?”
The Draconian quietly eyed Clovis, its face showing no change in expression. It then gazed at Avrin. “I don't want to fight you… Let me fight the other one.” Avrin remained quiet. He knew the Draconian wanted either revenge or a good challenge. Before he could reply, Clovis called out. “You think I'm not a good match for you? Try me. I guarantee I'll be more fun than Avrin over there.”
The Draconian eyed Avrin again. “So Avrin is your name? Very well, wait there for me. I'll be done quickly and you will be next.” Clovis snickered quietly, but his lips that curled into a smile soon reverted into a serious expression as he watched the draconians figure reveal.
Standing tall at nearly 4 meters, it's wings spanning at least 3 meters and it's armor radiating a powerful aura, it gave a dignified presence, both powerful and ancient in feeling. The Draconian eyed Clovis as if he were an insect.
“You still want to fight? It has been many years since I have experienced combat. Not one of my opponents has managed to leave alive…” Clovis gulped and then chuckled quietly.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Then you will make a good opponent for me to grow stronger.” Clovis began to radiate flame affinity mana as he took a deep breath, his eyes glowing slightly, before the mana channeled into his fists.
The Draconian began to walk over to Clovis, not even bothering to take its weapon up. “Not going to use a weapon? Fine then. Fighting with fists is much BETTER!!” Speaking that last word, he turned into a red blur, causing the ground to shake and the flames of the torches to falter for a moment.
“First Strike!” His fist plummeted towards the Draconian’s stomach. “Hmph!” The Draconian uttered, before the fist collided with the armor, causing it to glow slightly, before Clovis’s attack was nullified completely, with only the air moving, showing the result.
“This…?... Fine then, how about this! Second Strike!” Kicking off the ground, his fist radiated a stronger fire mana, before he tried to uppercut the Draconian. “Using such weak attacks?” The Draconian moved its right hand over under its chin, catching Clovis’s fist in its own grip, completely stopping the attack.
The force of the attack shot upwards and hit the ceiling, causing some debris to fall down around them, despite much of the attack being nullified. “Hahaha… You're pretty good.” Clovis radiated fire mana around his body, causing the Draconian to cautiously let go.
Avrin watched carefully from the sidelines. “-Being able to stop Clovis’s attacks so effortlessly. Maybe that dragon is ranked at Grandmaster? No, that can't be. There has to be some trick to it. That armor, no doubt, has some boost effect, as it also nullified his attack. Hmm-” Avrin was soon snapped back to reality, as Kael spoke next to him.
“Master, that Draconian is pretty strong… Not even you could block Clovis’s attack. Is it stronger than you?” Avrin glanced at him for a moment. “Don't underestimate Clovis. I'm sure he will at least pull some miracle off.”
Kael nodded, before glancing at Clovis, whose body began to radiate mana. “I guess...my normal abilities won't work on you… The Flame Fist is something you seem to defeat easily. After fighting Avrin and seeing him take my best attack directly, I knew my fault was letting that energy spread… So I'll let you be the first to taste my revised ability”
Avrin raised a brow curiously. “Revised ability? When did he have time?” The Draconian didn't utter a word. Instead, its arms extended and its mouth opened to reveal it's fangs as it laughed. “HA HA HAHA! YOU THINK YOU CAN STILL INJURE ME?!!” The Draconian, unable to control itself, had a laughing fit.
Clovis knelt down, extending his left fist forward and drawing his right hand back, as the mana in his body circulated into a small plate-like shape in front of his right fist. The intensity and strength of the mana drew the energy from the torches, causing them to flicker around, and some going out due to having their energy taken.
Clovis continued to charge his attack for 20 seconds before he was satisfied, the plate shape condensed with flame mana radiating power that even made the Draconian narrow its eyes.
“Very well... Let's see what this attack of yours can do…”
Clovis snickered before dashing forward with movement 10 times as fast as he was during his first strike. He reached the Draconian, who gazed at Clovis with no interest.
“Fifth Strike...” He uttered quietly, before his voice picked up as his right hand plowed towards the creature's stomach again. “INFERNO SPIKE!” The mana plate shot out, before forming a large pressure that was intense enough to distort the shape and sharpen it like a constant spike.
The force of the attack caused the surroundings to blow away and heat up, but not enough to cause a full disturbance, as the attack was more focused than the Inferno Fist. The spike soon reached the Draconian’s armor, plowing against it. The Draconian snickered, before raising his right hand and radiating his own mana in it.
The increase in mana that it had gathered was intense enough to make Clovis falter for a moment, as well as Avrin narrow his eyes carefully and speak. “It’s over. Clovis has lost...” He spoke to anyone who could hear.
The Draconian’s right arm swatted the Inferno Spike, dispersing it the moment it touched it, as well as sending a shock wave from its swat towards them all. The force hit Clovis the hardest, who had depleted all his mana in the attack, hoping he could at least wear the creature down.
As the ground and area soon settled, Clovis tried to kneel, his breath heavy with sweat all over his face. “I didn't even...take a hit...and I lost?” The Draconian eyed Clovis and chuckled out. “Oh, I apologize… Let me make you feel better.”
The Draconian’s body turned into a green blur, before it appeared in front of Clovis. It then grabbed him by the neck as it began to squeeze. “Take a hit? I'm taking your life…” Clovis’s face turned pale, as he tried to free himself from its grip. There was a joyful look on its face, as if it enjoyed torturing someone before they died.
Before it got too far, a purple sphere shot between the Draconian and Clovis, which was easily dodged, as the Draconian jumped back, dropping Clovis on to the floor. The Draconian gazed at the sphere that hit a nearby torch and turned it to a dark ash, before gazing at Avrin, who had his hand extended out.
“Interfering in my fight? You dare?” Avrin began to remove his cloak as well as the enchanted sack on his side, handing them over to Kael. “Keep these with you. And don't lose that bag...” Avrin spoke to Kael carefully, who quickly nodded.
Avrin, using his Void Step, appeared next to Clovis, who was holding his throat and gasping for air. “I owe you. Thanks to your efforts, I can tell that this thing is probably a peak Grandmaster, or even an early Sage level opponent. To so easily defeat your attack... Of course, I could be wrong, and it's just really tough.”
Clovis gave a soft, weak laugh as he stood up “Y...You're welcome...” Walking away from the arena, he didn't dare get in Avrin’s way. The Draconian spoke out, as it walked until it was in front of Avrin by a full 20 meters. “You're quite perceptive… Indeed, a Grandmaster would still need to be cautious, and I have no doubt he would take damage from such an attack… But I’m a mid tier Grandmaster.”
Avrin’s eyes narrowed under the mask, fixing carefully onto the Draconian. “If you came 50 years ago… You may have had a chance. With this Dragonplate Armor, my defence is at the level of a Sage level warrior. It also comes with many more benefits.”
Avrin frowned somewhat, as he gazed carefully at the creature's armor. “That's quite nice. After I'm done with you, I think I'll take it. I know someone who would like to take it apart.” The Draconian chuckled softly, before its facial expression turned into anger in an instant.
“WORM!!!” Turning into a blur and rushing towards Avrin, it was as he expected, he couldn't take it easy. He grinned before he jumped back, revealing where his feet had just been that Nebula Mist had been siphoning down. With a quick motion, they formed a Shadow Wall that seemingly blocked him from the creature's view.
Taking the chance, he formed a Void Greatsword, before he saw the Shadow Wall shake several times. He knew the Draconian could go around, but it was as if it wanted to show Avrin its strength.
After the fifth strike, the Shadow Wall formed cracks, and then shattered, revealing the Draconian with a livid expression that soon turned to a serious manner.
“Fast!” The Draconian uttered out towards Avrin, who was a purple blur, stabbing the greatsword towards the Draconian, who sidestepped, narrowly avoiding it.
The Draconian reached up to grab the greatsword. Taking into account Luzar’s fight with Avrin, it engulfed its hand in mana only to find that the dark matter of Avrin’s greatsword was eating away at it.
“You…. How did you strengthen so quickly?” Avrin glared at the Draconian holding his Void Greatsword so easily. “It isn't nice to show all your tricks...” The Draconian’s pupils contracted, before its hand radiated earthen mana, its large claw crushing down on the greatsword, causing cracks to form.
“That's fine… You're only a little faster than Luzar...” Avrin decided he would use all he could to defeat this opponent while still only using what was needed. As the Draconian showed no signs of letting go of the greatsword, Avrin willed the hilt to detach from it.
While grasping it in his right hand, he spun around, all the while the hilt reformed into a void sphere. By the time he had spun to look at the Draconian, he pressed the void sphere towards its head.
The Draconian was, by all means, not slow, with its combat skills honed, it had already raised its left hand to grab the void sphere. “You dare use such foul magic on me?” The Draconian’s right leg turned into a blur before it kicked towards Avrin’s side.
No longer taking things slow, Avrin’s left hand gathered dark matter, before it moved down between his side and the Draconian’s leg, forming a dark matter shell-like shield. The force of the attack caused the shield to shatter and crush against Avrin’s arm, who was blown away several dozen meters.
Avrin winced in pain as he raised his left arm that was now broken. “-Is he toying with me?-” Avrin though while forcing his left arm to straighten, willing dark matter to flow in it, dulling out the pain while fixing it.
Kael looked up at the scene happening. “Something’s wrong…” Clovis, who was seated down and trying to recover, spoke. “I agree… It's toying with him, obviously.” Felia glanced at Avrin worryingly, before gazing at Kael, remembering Avrin’s words to escape if things got too bad.
The Draconian chuckled a little and glanced at Avrin. “Weak rodent… But I can see how you defeated Luzar. You’re about equal to him in speed, but he had the advantage in strength.” It began to walk towards Avrin.
As it did, a soft chuckle echoed around the room. “Ha...haha….hahahahahaha!” Gazing towards the source everyone looked at Avrin with confusion. “Master?” Kael asked in confusion.
The Draconian’s eyes focused on Avrin, as it stood a meter away from him. It felt something was wrong, as a strange aura emitted from him. “When I first used this ability, the effect was incomplete and unrefined. But as I grew stronger and used it in my free time while hidden away, I found that it's not so simple… In fact, it has quite a few benefits...”
Dark matter began to surge around Avrin, forming inch wide lines under his clothing, until it engulfed his entire body. The lines themselves were made from dark matter that glowed with a fierce energy.
Avrin’s mask began to distort slightly, before it turned to ash, revealing Avrin’s face with his blue pupils fixed onto the Draconian. The lines of dark matter were moving around his face as if alive. His skin began to darken a little, and his pupils began to turn a darker color. He reached up to lower the hood that was attached to his current top, revealing his long silvery hair as well as he's Elf-like ears.
The Draconian felt a little worry as it looked at Avrin, who seemed somewhat demonic. “Demon… I guess that explains your strength.” Felia gazed, only seeing Avrin’s pointed ears as well as he's long hair. She was deathly curious about Avrin’s appearance, but it was drowned out by the fact that she wondered what was going on and why a dark energy she couldn't sense emitted from him.
Clovis glanced and whistled with interest. “A trump card. Interesting…” Kael looked at Clovis and then at Avrin, who gave off that glow of energy. The surrounding mercs watched with curiosity and fascination.
“-This form should be easier to control than completely transforming-” The Draconian’s fists soon blurred as they punched towards Avrin’s face. Avrin could see the Draconian move more clearly, despite it still being incredibly fast. He moved his body a little, as the creature's shot passed where his head had been.
Avrin didn't waste a movement, raising both his hands. One against the wrist of the Draconian, the other along its arm, as he gazed at it with focus. “The good thing about this form is… I can gather what I need much faster.” The mana around the armor section of the Draconian’s wrist guards began to twist and shake, as it was soon covered by a thin layer of dark matter that began to spread quickly.
The Draconian, seeing that the mana infused within its armor was being devoured, quickly retracted its arm before slashing its right claw towards Avrin. Gazing at it, Avrin felt somewhat nervous, quickly bending his body back.
His body’s flexibility allowed him to avoid the claw that shook with incredible power, that made the air blast in the claws trajectory, causing blades of wind to smash against the wall.
Avrin looked up to see the Draconian recovering quicker than him. It punched downwards with its retracted hand trying to pummel him into ground. “-To think of attacking like this so quickly. I can see why he has beaten so many opponents...-” Avrin thought, before dark matter gathered much faster in his hands.
He purposely let himself fall against the floor, while the dark matter formed a thick shadow wall out of it, managing to block the attack of the Draconian.
