------------
Syrana wasted no time preparing a dark arrow as she waited for him to make the first move as it would justify her retaliating. Myra still wanted to resolve this matter without combat however Syrana had forgotten that this type of battle would destroy this area and endanger the sylph. She didn’t want Abbadon to realise this and put them in a difficult position.
Abbadon then gave them a choice. "If you truly want to avoid conflict, I am not without fairness." Though Abbadon said those words, he was reluctant to start battle as Neriel would be caught up in the crossfire but at the same time he couldn’t let this go since he was interested in the shield and what it held sealed. Myra cautiously eyed him without lowering her guard while taking in his words and deciding on a course of action.
It seemed that she was slowly starting to regret taking Avrin in as it brought bad luck quickly. How could she have foreseen a force capable of combating a dragon, better than anyone else, would come to the slyphs.
"What is it you want Abbadon? … Surely you aren’t thinking we will give up the Etilith shield so freely to you. Since it is made by Lenaya it is rightfully ours." Myra fastened her grip onto moonwing as if preparing for a violent response.
"That is true." Abbadon calmly spoke "Although to my knowledge, I am not aware of something like this existing. So it must be a hidden gift, possibly under the noses of the other gods." Abbadon like the elves wanted order and peace but not for the forest but the entirety of Seleria.
So a god favouring a race was something he could not allow as it was not fair and tended to ruin the balance. "But i can see that is doing no harm. In fact I’m more interested in what is inside."
Abbadon was possibly the most careful and cautious humanoid on Seleria. The way he pointed out facts in such intense moments was something to be jealous of. One would think that it was no wonder that he was appointed leader of the angels and tasked by septim often.
"That is none of your business!" Syrana blurted out angrily. "That’s quite rude of you to talk in such a manner, my dear maiden." Abbadon responded to her. "She is right however, you angels have no reason to go snooping around. We are doing no harm and have no intention of doing so." Myra followed.
"Well then you won’t mind if I take a look?" Abbadon placed his hand against the shield trying to disarm it, but it was indeed much too powerful for him to do so in an instant. "I see, truly a powerful object of a deity. I would have no hope of trying to turn it off without spending months fiddling with it." He complimented Lenaya in a tone that would suggest he is capable of still doing so to the goddess he did not follow.
"How dare you!!" Syrana called out in anger. She was quite smart herself as she understood his compliment was also a comment to how he could undo the goddess' work. "Syrana wait!!" Myra called out but it was too late the dark arrow bolt had fired with a fierce precision.
Even if Abadon was an angel wielding a sigil it would still hurt if he did not counter. He used his angelic speed imbued with some of his own sigil weapons strength and managed to tilt his body to the side as the arrow shot straight past him. As he turned to dodge his hair swayed in the air but the arrow had cut a few strands which made him widen his eyes in surprise.
Even if the sigil's power was half the strength it was no doubt still strong enough to injure or even kill him if he underestimated either of the two.
The arrow struck the Etilith shield as it was quite strong causing the shield to shake violently but it still held strong. Afterall, it was capable of sustaining much more as well as drawing its energy from the forest.
Abbadon noticed the shield was quite durable and smiled. "I see it’s quite powerful. I wonder ..." He slashed across the air sending a mana blade wave towards the shield that seemed to block the main portion of the attack but the part of the wave that hadn’t hit the shield went on and hit the walls of the ruin, causing it to tremor greatly as debris fell down around them the remnant wave continued to pass through, causing a slight tremor around the area.
Abbadon did not know it drew its power from the forest which is why he had attacked. Although there was the possibility of him still doing so. Myra on the other hand knew if things went out of hand the forest would suffer if they continued with such attacks.
"Stop!!" myra called out being the only one who knew the magic circle enough even more so than syrana understanding the consequences. Syrana took Abbadon’s attack as a sign of battle and then began to barrage him with quick mana arrows with no elemental attunement.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Abbadon was more careful than before he wielded Twilight as if it were a normal sword. His angelic strength lessening the weight that would cause a man to wield it with both hands but Abbadon seemed to be blocking or splitting the arrows in half.
"I’m sorry my dear maiden but if that is all you have then this won’t be much of a battle." Abbadon spoke blatantly, taunting Syrana who seemed to grin taking that challenge. She began to pull the mana string back quite far as a mana arrow formed that looked more like a spiral spear than an arrow. Each spiral consisted of two colours red and green. She would then fire the spiral like an arrow that screeched through the air with ease leaving a mana trail as it did.
Abbadon eyes twitched for a moment before using twilight to block it. The spiral arrow did not break instead it was pushing against the flat side used to block against it and was spinning like a drill. "I see a drill arrow?" Abbadon spoke. Myra grinned "Not quite ..." The arrow would then explode over abbadon's blade, entangling it with vines that had thorns around it.
Abbadon was quite surprised. This was also his first combat lesson with a weapon capable of competing with his own. "Interesting, but not good enough." Abbadon grinned as he underestimated Syrana's arrow. "You know, for an angel as intelligent as yourself. You sure tend to overlook things." Syrana spoke followed by the vines surrounding Abbadon’s blade glowing red before exploding in a pillar of flames.
The flames themselves seemed violent and bursted upwards 20 meters, hitting the ceiling and causing more debris to fall as well as a diameter of a few meters that managed to collide with the shield again causing it to wobble and weaken before it replenishing itself from the forest.
Syrana gazed proudly, making a fist as she jumped slightly and raised her hand. "Got him!!" Neriel called out in a slight despair. "M-My lord!!" The flames were then blown away as if it was nothing. Revealing Abbadon underneath with a few scorch marks on his robe and a few scratches on his flawless skin. This left Syrana with a speechless expression and Neriel with a sigh of relief.
Abbadon smiled as he pointed his blade at Syrana. "I guess it’s my turn now. Please try not to die." Syrana knew he wouldn’t take it easy on her, and as if not waiting she fired off another Arrow attuned with nature and fire towards Abbadon.
"I don’t think this is a skill suited for Twilight but I suppose it should do." In a moment he jabbed his sword forward as if wielding a rapier which caused a sonic boom like motion to sway around the hilt. The movement of the skill caused a mana strike that would pierce forwards to be shot towards Syrana. It collided with her arrow as they both struggled for a brief second before Abbadon’s attacked pierced right through and towards Syrana.
"Damn it." Syrana spoke as she prepared herself, not having time to dodge the attack that was a few meters away before exploding against something that seemed to form out of nowhere. What was left was a gaian shield that was falling apart due to the attack. Behind it was Syrana who covered her eyes and myra in front of her holding moonwing towards the attack that had been blocked.
"S-Syrana we need to work together if we are to have a chance." Syrana was thankful that her friend had come to help her and nodded giving a firm smile. "Nice of you to join us priestess, I suppose this way it will be more fun. Neriel."
Abbadon spoke. "Y-yes my lord!" Neriel came to attention and Abbadon then spoke. "I no longer think it is wise to reuse that object. I noticed the magic circle containing it. I want you to try and disable it." Neriel's eyes widened with worry. "B-but I don’t have the energy."
Abbadon chuckled quietly. "That is fine. I’m sure you will figure something out. Whatever is in that shield is worth having an object crafted by a deity to guard. It truly must be something valuable. Unfortunately, I have become quite curious and I do not think I can come out of this unharmed."
Before Neriel could reply, flame arrows had come towards Abbadon who raised his hand creating a shield similar to a gaian shield but with a divine touch. Using his own angelic power as well as the strength of a full sigil weapon they were effortlessly deflected.
He then continued with his own attacks as he slashed vertically then horizontally a few times in quick succession. Sending mana waves towards the two who seemed to dodge or hide behind a gaian shield that would crumble after being hit by a few of these attacks.
"Come my dears. Let us battle to our hearts content." Abbadon showed an enjoyable look as it had been centuries since he last enjoyed a battle and decades since he enjoyed one with opponents capable of killing him ...
