Avrin had been listening since the two made their way across the room. It seemed those mana traps didn’t affect them, could it be there was some sort of system to differentiate certain people? In any case he would have to look at it later on. Right now, he dared not miss a word those two spoke, when he heard mythological his interested had peaked.

They continued their conversation with Menzo speaking first “hurry up and tell me what is it for?!” The man chuckled and grinned before replying “it tells the location of a chunk of raw sky metal…”

Avrin didn't know how to react. He remembered the most pricey book was 30,000 and titled Sky Metal The Enigma. It would make sense that it would be important considering the books level was unique he could also tell by how hard Menzo was breathing. The man in the room knew Menzo was about to burst with excitement so decided to show him. He reached into his dark cloak and pulled out a cloth in the shape of a flat square around 5 inches tall and 3 inches wide. Of course avrin did not know this was the case as he only guessed it was revealed by Menzo’s words of excitement.

“I..I can't believe it..this is the real thing..the markings...the material so delicately made...it has nearly no erosion on the carved text...Where did you get this?..” Avrin figured this was a chance to continue doing what he came here to do. He went over from the corner he hid and made his way to the front desk where he reopened the part of the showcase desk where he had previously done so before he resealed it.

avrin had reached into the showcase and took all the expensive books without hesitation, of course there was one more thing he wanted and he had a plan to retrieve it. The book keeper didnt really do anything bad to him but Avrin would let nothing get in his way to achieve the highest peak in this universe.

As he held the books together in a stack with his left arm he looked around before carefully approaching the door. he wanted to try something new with his nebula mist. Of course, he was going on impulse, he had no idea whether the man with Menzo was strong or not. Avrin began to emit a thick nebula mist from his right palm and it began to seep into the room he was in. In the meantime the men continued to talk.

“Heh...You know me, I bought it off some clueless merchant in in the northern continent Ailera. You won't believe how much profit I've been making ever since you taught me how to identify stuff..” Menzo nodded as he held a sort of magnifying glass in the room lit by a magical lamp. he was looking over the mythological tablet but was having trouble reading it “How much did you buy this for?”

The man folded his arms with a nod “10 gold. I think I did fairly well. Why do you ask?..” Menzo grinned and spoke “This tablet by itself is worth a few million gold coins….could you imagine how much that sky metal would be?...In the whole of Seleria, all the accounts of sky metal existing have been nearly non existent. King Leo Zircus supposedly has a chunk, as well as the beast tribe chief Giron. But these are rumors.. Bah, either way, to my knowledge no one on Seleria knows how to smith such a enigmatic metal” Menzo spoke as if lecturing the man to which he replied with a chuckle “Hehe, who could learn when no one has gotten their hands on it…”

Menzo nodded in agreement before speaking. In the meantime a strange purple mist began to seep in through the bottom opening of the door “If we manage to get that chunk we would have enough gold to make our own city. Who could afford to buy something so expensive…?”

the door began to creak slowly as the men spoke, neither noticing it “why don't we sell it in pieces? Maybe we could make more?” As the two deliberated the door burst open revealing a dark purple mist outside of it that began to seep in but the reactions of the two were in horror as their hearts felt as if they were going to burst.

Menzo was the first to speak as he yelled “W..What is this!! “ he backed away with the tablet. the room itself didn't have a proper window, only an opening with iron bars. The man looked around frantically before pulling out a steel short sword from his waist.

Avrin smirked as he was engulfing himself in the mist to hide his appearance. He reached his hand out of the mist that burst into the room engulfing it in nearly a couple of seconds not giving the two a proper amount of time to resist or flee properly.

“I DONT WANT TO DIE!!” Menzo yelled out while the man who was swinging his sword around as if trying to hit something found himself useless. At this point Avrin, being able to see clearly in the mist he created, chuckled to himself before using the mist to cut the room off. A large cement like wall split the room in two. It cut off Menzo from the other man who tried banging and attacking it to no avail.

it seemed he was indeed quite strong as the wall itself crumbled. Avrin thought he was learning quite a bit, but no matter how much the man chipped away at the wall the mist that emitted in the area reformed the broken segments. Avrin knew he would have to be quick as keeping the nebula mist up was quite a drainer with himself not being trained much.

He walked over to Menzo and grabbed the tablet but met resistance as Menzo spoke out “Please, I'll give you anything, just don't take this tablet!!! its a family heirloom!!” At this point Avrin felt like laughing at this man’s blatant lie but heard the wall chipping away faster. Apparently the man heard that the mysterious person was after the tablet and didn't want to lose it.

Avrin’s face twisted slightly as he spoke out. At this point he could of killed them both using the mist but it would cause a bigger commotion and raise suspicion. So he decided to do the next best thing. The nebula mist engulfed Menzo’s right hand and wasted no time devouring it even as Menzo screamed in pain. Avrin’s face showed no emotion, he still considered the man lucky he didn't torture him.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Avrin grabbed the tablet before heading outside the entrance he came from while still making sure to avoid the traps. He held books in his right hand and the tablet in his other as he heard Menzo screaming in agony while the other man had managed to break through the wall and was asking Menzo where the tablet was.

Although Avrin considered himself a changed man, he could not deny that he found this situation somewhat amusing. He had intended to steal a few books but ended up taking something he would not have been able to obtain for years. Either way it was something he still wanted. He would have to work on his greed later on.

Avrin dispersed the rest of the nebula mist after he felt he was safe. He had gotten inside the inn using the window. It seemed avrin could jump quite high even though he had no experience in combat, possibly another trait of this body. Either way it had allowed him to jump onto the nearby shop’s sturdy roof before he entered his room.

He could hear whistles from the guards who came at the calls of the men. Avrin would have to be careful with these objects since there was a possibility of the guards searching around.

But at this point, there was no need. Avrin had planned his next course of action. He would first make more gold coins without care to the mana stream around this room, as it seemed to have slowly healed. Then he would absorb the books as well as the tablet, which would allow him to travel without care. Of course he needed to buy resources, he felt he shouldn't skimp out on natural tasting supplies if possible as the synthetic taste of his creations didn't really appeal to him.

At around 3:00am the guards were even more alert as they began knocking and searching houses. Avrin had spent an hour making gold coins and trying to test his ability to reform them into mana but he ended up failing as they turned into dark matter and just polluted the stream some more. He then heard several knocks from below at the ground floor. It seemed the guards had finally gotten inside. But there was no need for him to worry. since 2:30am he had begun to absorb the books including the ones he had purchased. he had taken in the ones he previously bought before reforming them as a test to see if something would happen.

It seemed his prior test of keeping the fishing book absorbed was somewhat useless as he found he could reform a book right after absorbing it. So without hesitation he began absorbing everything, each book taking at least 2 minutes, so he had plenty of time.

Of course the tablet itself was a different issue. He found it was much harder to absorb and had taken him 29 minutes. He pondered why this was the case. Could it be the material it was formed from or the rarity itself? This was a magic universe so it was possible it took more time to absorb something of a rarer quality.

He finished everything at 3:10am, at this point the guards had knocked on the door and Avrin went over to answer with his cloak on. As he opened the door he found a somewhat skinny man next to a sturdy built man. The man who seemed more sturdy appeared to be irritated and cut to the chase without having Avrin answer what they needed. “The book shop was robbed and items valued at several hundred thousands of gold were stolen. We need to check your room sir..”

Avrin nodded and stepped aside, he didn't want to cause a commotion. Thanks to his body he didn't feel an inch of fatigue. Of course sleeping fatigue and muscle fatigue would differentiate his body, at the moment it was only capable of keeping itself stable and healthy when awake without the need to sleep. If Avrin over exerted himself it would be more troublesome.

Both the sturdy and skinny man had turned the room upside down looking for a shred of evidence or anything stolen. The skinny man said “H..Hey this room gives me the creeps...it feels like my insides are burning...and I got a headache…” The built man responded “you to ay?.. feels like my muscles are going to implode…” Avrin raised a curious brow, he wondered if this was a side effect from the dark matter polluting the mana stream.

Of course it had healed itself and was only a little polluted, but to have this effect was interesting. Avrin knew everything in this universe was made up of mana particles, so to speak, so having a foreign object interfere with it was obviously going to have a side effect.

Avrin noticed something interesting. it seemed the skinny man was having problems breathing “H..Hey are we done..? i'm going outside.. “ He stumbled about before heading off outside the room gasping for air. The sturdy man who had obviously trained more than his partner also stood up but seemed to be sweating as he turned to Avrin who seemed to be fine. “H..Hey I can’t find anything here..B..But you shouldn't be practicing magic like this in this inn...i'll give you a warning this time.. but right now… “ The man at that point held his mouth as if he were going to vomit and rushed out and closed the door. avrin heard thumping foot steps down the stairs before he heard a blehh vomiting sound which made him grin with satisfaction. He had secretly thanked the two guards for being unintentional guinea pigs for this unintentional experiment.

Avrin smiled as it seemed he was in the clear. He wanted to look at all the knowledge he had accumulated and began reforming the books, excluding the tablet since it took too long to form. 10 minutes later as it seemed it was a little faster, he managed to form all of them but came across two issues, the first concerning two and the other concerning them all. The Gourmet Cookbook seemed to have jumbled words as if things had been messed around with. The other book, Kings of Seleria, had its first half jumbled up the same as the Gourmet Cookbook. But the rest of the book seemed to be fine.

He pondered on this issue wondering what could of gone wrong. He took a good 20 minutes before deducing a theory. At the time he absorbed the books he took in the Gourmet Cookbook first, followed by Kings of Seleria. He then absorbed everything else at a fair pace. When reforming the books with no specific pattern, both the books he absorbed first encountered the jumbling issue.

He spoke quietly to himself “So it seems if I absorb a lot of books at a quick pace in my current state, I’m guessing, just like the brain, dark matter isn't able to handle the injection of knowledge in one go. I will definitely have to be careful concerning this…”

The second issue was a strange one Avrin would have to think even longer about. Of course he didn't know whether this had more of a negative or a positive impact towards him. The issue concerning the rest of the books, it seemed everything he had reformed, the contents of each had translated to the english language.

When he ate the object that allowed him to read a majority of things as well as understand the language of some races, he found his biggest issue was numbers, he couldn't understand them at all. When he read letters in his mind, as if naturally it translated it into english.

But this wasn't the case. The text and letters were in plain english, as if the dark matter had auto-translated it. Avrin bit his lip as he carefully re-absorbed the books in the same order as the first time, just incase something were to happen. He then spoke quietly to himself.

“If it translates unknown text into english..is it possible the tablet may be translated as well?” He shrugged this thought off as it was not worth the effort. He wasted no more time and decided to train his abilities some more in a sort of meditative, cross legged state. Before he attempted this amateurish meditation, to get his priorities straight, he thought to himself “In 4 hours I'll go buy supplies, then I will leave this town and head west. It’s best if I train myself in the mountains for a bit before i continue..” Avrin smirked to himself as he never knew the cliche mountain training tactic would become something useful in this world.
