---------------

The docks of Lumiria were a hub of activity ever since the large vessel carrying Gregson's forces arrived, as well as the objects and exotic things they had acquired from the elven continent. Of course their destination was obviously to the capital city.

Gregson explain to Avrin as both him and Asura followed behind, being guarded by a small group of soldiers. Gregson explained that the goods were something the king enjoyed showing off, being able to acquire unique things was all the rage at the moment between kingdoms and their royalty.

Although Gregson was a soldier of a different kingdom he was currently tasked with serving the capital as if he were born there, it was something all soldiers of high rank and promise would do as a show of good faith towards the empire.

“You would think such a large empire would have its own forces to handle a menial task. I can’t help think the more you tell me the more it seems that you were sent just to go pick up some goods this king sounds irritating.”

Avrin expressed a little dissatisfaction. Gregson although a soldier of the empire showed a little discomfort at his words as did the soldiers. Who would dare talk back to Avrin, someone who showed to be on par with the king in strength.

“Master I think this human king must be strong to order servants of others to get things for him”, Asura spoke somewhat complementing Leo in a positive yet negative manner.

Gregson whispered softly “my lords, although I dare not talk back to you, because we are in the human continent people see the king as a god like figure. It would be best to not talk as such about him, those people do not know of your strength like those of us on the vessel have witnessed.”

“I suppose you're right.” Avrin agreed he wouldn’t talk so much about the king's negative ways in his own eyes he ruled the way he saw it and it matter not to Avrin.

The 3 of them made their way further down the docks ramps watching as the many people were unloading crates with the emblem of the empire on them. Avrin was feeling his body was quite eager for activity, he truly wanted to train and get used to Astaroth. His 3-day training was but a blink of an eye to him.

“Lord Gregson when will we be departing to the capital?” Gregson smiled “Right now actually, the carriage should be here soon, do not worry lord Avrin you are not missing much these port cities are usually very similar.”

Gazing around there was quite a heavy presence of soldiers and guards, not just on the docks but also on the streets. Avrin couldn’t help but ask why to which Gregson replied “humanity has many hidden enemies and we can never spare enough to protect ourselves, the beast tribes despise us for what we have done and the demons are crafty.”

The beast tribe Avrin could understand but from what he knew regarding demons, this seemed rather pointless considering their magical capabilities. The carriages had been prepared for several minutes and were already awaiting them.

3 carriages in total 1 for Tyrin and Gregson, 1 with several designs portraying roses and blades for Karina and her lieutenants and 1 for Avrin and Asura that didn’t look too bad.

Asura frowned as he looked at it, “master I’m starting to hate traveling, it’s boring and I want to fight…” Asura was starting to get frustrated. Fighting and combat was in the creature's soul and with this intelligence and power he was craving to show it off.

“I agree Asura, when things are settled we can head to a battlefield and improve ourselves for as long as we please.” Gregson chuckled lightly as he spoke “lord Avrin with you and lord Asura on the battlefield I’m afraid there won’t be many people left when you are done with them.”

Avrin had a bit to do, he knew he had to visit the blacksmith in the central continent but that was only a hobby, his main focus was establishing himself first. As they separated, Tyrin was already inside the carriage. Gregson parted from Avrin who was making his way to his own carriage.

A soft voice called out to him. “Lord Avrin would you be so kind as to allow this lady to accompany you?” both him and Asura turned to look seeing lady Karina with her attractive armor set up with several of her members who looked a little stunned at their captains words.

Avrin felt no reason to decline her, maybe he could also learn a thing or two from her. Then again she may have intentions, at this point Avrin wanted to see what she want. “I would be honored if lady Karina would accompany me on this journey.”

Showing a pleasant look Karina nodded gazing back at her group before making her way inside the carriage of Avrin. Asura though snorted quietly and hopped on top of the carriage and lay down casually. The guards who were escorting them were used to this .

As Avrin entered the carriage ,the small convoy began to stir and move. Avrin leaning on his leather covered gauntlet looked out the small glass pane window. Karina also stared outside and the quiet awkwardness continued until they left the port city’s gates with the many carriages containing exotic goods as well as the soldiers on a horse like creature and marching to their sides accompanying them.

Avrin was the first to break the ice. “Karina we haven’t talked much have we and yet I find it interesting that you're assertive enough as to want to accompany me?”

Karina turning and gazed innocently at Avrin and removed her glasses that had a golden frame and fairly thin wide lenses. She began to clean them with a cloth that seemed to be sewn well. Her voice spoke in a tone as if she tried to make Avrin fall for her.

“Lord Avrin you are quite powerful to the point where your attack seems to be on par with sigil wielders although that was only on one occasion...and you were at near death… I can only assume such power comes to a large burden that being said I can presume that you can only match a sigil wielder for a short duration of time.”

Widening his eyes under his mask only for a moment Avrin showed a hidden smile behind his mask “-this girl is indeed intelligent but what is her intentions? I can't let down my guard around her so for now I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.” – “indeed I’m only able to match a sigil wielder for a very short duration of time but why are you asking such sudden questions?”

He spoke softly he wanted her to think that was his limit if she knew he could only get stronger it may cause some issues. “My lord Avrin, my uncle, King Leo Zircus, would find your services extremely important won’t you consider accompanying me to see him?”

Avrin raised a brow despite all his facial emotions hidden behind the mask. “Sorry I serve no one, everything I do is for myself” making sure his tone was clear and to the point. Karina seemingly experienced, didn’t want to give up and went on.

“Avrin I’m sure Gregson offered you quite a deal was it to join his kingdom so that they may receive a higher position in Humanities Empire? I can tell you that you are wasting your time, Gregson is a man who has limited sight and is stubborn. If not for his family’s past deeds as well as his daughters abilities he would be only a common officer.”

Karina showed a devil like face as she crossed her legs. Avrin began to see a second side of her, he was a little surprised at how quick humans here changed. One night eating and laughing with each other, the next killing each other. Avrin hadn’t seen anything on this level even as a general, it was all kept down because only those with skills would be given an opportunity.

“Gregson seems like a fair man and his deal is nothing of the such, I merely want to obtain things myself. And I am not fond of serving a king I haven’t even met.”

Karina gave a light laugh as she stood up and walked over sitting next to Avrin. She placed a hand on his lap and lightly traced it up his outer thigh near his inner thigh while speaking in a seductive manner.

“Avrin the truth is I was mesmerized by your power, a man capable of achieving something that needed the gods themselves to make. I have also seen your appearance something only the gods themselves can match oh how handsome you are. Wont you consider joining me then and assisting me? Humanity has many enemies and with each other we can achieve greatness.”

Avrin felt like puking at this woman’s words as well as her touch, not only was she seducing him but such a speech could only be reserved for a hero, a champion of good and Avrin had no intention of choosing sides he was his own man and those that choose to stand by him are the people that he will treat well.

He would love nothing more then to provoke her but he was in no position to do so. “Lady Karina..” he spoke as he used her title despite her calling him Avrin hoping the message would get clear “humanity is something I have no interest for. If the world were to go to war tomorrow with everyone picking the sides of their races I would choose to seclude myself while I wait for their petty rivalry to end.”

Karina backed up as she looked at Avrin with a bit of fear not only was he showing no interest in one of the few beauties of the empires advances but his tone and message was clear. This was something he was doing for himself and he couldn’t careless about what happens to the humans.

She inhaled and frowned. “I understand lord Avrin… despite this I must still make a report to the king. Should you ever change your mind then find me using this” she took a small metallic card from a slot in her boots and handed it to him. It was giving a faint glow and had an arrow on it with a red dot at the point presumably a tracking device.

“Very well” he smiled despite it not showing. She then moved up to the front and opened the door of the moving carriage. With steps of grave and showing her skills she jumped from it and used her footwork to gracefully reach the carriage of her comrades.

Asura's head popped down from the roof as the door was left open. “Master that whore has a big mouth….who would want to serve a human king ha-ha”

Avrin also laughed lightly “Asura shut the door you’re letting in the cold” he sarcastically spoke. The convoy continued for several hours entering a mountainous path that seemed eerily quiet.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Standing atop the mountain a group of large individuals wearing full brown cloaks watched the convoy. A masculine voice spoke out in a aggressive tone. “Is the trap set?” Another voice spoke out “yeah...this is the large one that left the port and they’re carrying some nice goods for the king, if we get them here we can make quite a bit of coin” the owner of the voice snickered.

Asura whispered as he was lying on the carriage. “Master…this smell....there are a lot of damn pests on the mountains, these are bandits right?...” Avrin nodded also feeling their presence with his newly acquired ability to detect.

“That is fine Asura they can do no harm to us, but use them to our advantage. Do not attack until I give the signal” Asura somewhat groaned quietly before agreeing. It had only been 2 more minutes before an incredibly large boulder was pushed onto the large ridge to block the path of the convoy, immediately Gregson came out with Tyrin as they began to issue orders.

From the top of the ridge hundreds of men wearing cloaks began to jump down as well as bombard the convoy with arrows and to top it off there were even some who knew magic.

Taken by surprise the convoy began to experience losses quickly and Tyrin who had tried to cast a barrier spell was shot in the shoulder by an arrow. “Gah!!” he cried out clutching it and falling down before he was dragged back into the carriage by several of his guards.

The rose blades acted quickly as they began to attack with grace and vengeance Karina roaring out “these leeches!!! Show them no mercy make them all suffer for all our comrades who have fallen!!”

Gregson had been surrounded by dozens of bandits who were hungering for his blood. “Filthy worms…” he uttered before a draw of his blade and swift movements allowed him to kill 5 of them in but moments.

But for as many as they killed many more replaced the numbers. The leader of the bandits standing proudly on the ridge with his arms crossed. “These dumb military types….they think we wouldn’t attack a convoy that has skilled people without being sure of our own numbers….we managed to gather nearly all the bandits in the region after we got the tip off that something good was on the way ha-ha”

Asura was clenching his teeth growling softly as his claws dug into the carriage to the point where Avrin started to see them from the inside “master….now????” Avrin smiled. “Not yet.”

Several rose blades had died or had gotten injured to the point where Karina who was killing several bandits with each swing was forced to retreat “tsk...to think that such weaklings have taken us by surprise FALL BACK!” she roared out.”

With each moment several lives were lost, the bandits were replaced but there were only a hundred or so soldiers who were guarding the convoy. The bandits started to attack the goods carriages to stop them, and Gregson immediately called out.

“Don’t let them take those!!! They are for the king!!” several soldiers charged and began to combat the bandits buying a bit more time but it was no good. With only 28 remaining asura was starting to salivate from eagerness..

“m..Master….nowwww?” Avrin grinned and formed a book in his hand as he began to read it while resting his head on his hand. “Make sure to kill them all…”

Standing up Asura's muscles began to ripple as his body grew 20% in mass, his teeth showing as he emitted a powerful monstrous killing intent that froze the nearby combatants bandits and soldiers alike.

He released a terrifying roar that caused the walls of the rock formations around the path and the hill itself to shake slightly. This froze the higher ranked bandits. With all gazes on asura he vanished like a static shadowy blur and in moments he had cleaved 17 of the nearby bandits in half before vanishing again as their blood and innards sprayed out.

Asura who was reveling in the joy of combat had begun to test some techniques that required live test subjects. Sending out sharp waves of dark air from his claws while his tail which had grown in length and thickness tore apart at the bandits.

The leader on the hill began to shake from anger and fear as he began to sweat “w..Who..no what the hell is that!!!”

Gregson and Karina who were also frozen as Asura tore apart the bandits who were starting to see the side of Avrin's so called companion, a monstrous beastly figure that had begun to paint the mountainous path red with the blood and innards of his enemies.

“HAHAHAHA” Asura laughed out and roared as the bandits filled with fear despite their numbers they begged to the bandit leader to flee, he clenched his teeth “you bastards kill it!!!”

Asura focused his attention towards the voice despite the screams and sounds of battle, he heard the voice that seemed to be targeted to him “kill me?...” using his speed Asura made his way up the mountain wall, tearing apart rocks and stone as he climbed up until he appeared in front of the small group of bandit leaders.

“go ahead….kill me” he spoke as if provoking them and it seemed to have worked in moments the group of 5 charged towards him with large battle axes and their own huge frames.

“You monster!!” One of the larger bandits called out while swinging his battle-axe down towards Asuras head. Reaching up Asura grabbed the head of the large battle-axe and clenched his hand shattering the steel that made it as if it were glass.

In a second he had punched a hole through one of the leaders with such force that it caused the air behind him to ripple and his innards to fly out before he dropped dead with a dumb look on his face.

3 of the leaders showing signs of fear, recomposed themselves before charging again but at that instant a shadowy blurs swiped across there legs and moments later there legs were torn apart before their bodies fell to the ground as they screamed in agony.

The shadowy blur shrunk showing its true form as did Asura's tail, who spoke, “ooo nice, I can use my energy to grow it to.. I wonder what else…” clearly the thought of mercy hadn’t popped in his head at all. He proceeded to kill the 3 using raw strength as if tearing a helpless animal apart.

His cloak and body soaked in blood he looked at the leader of the bandits with a monstrous grin. “Ah damn...I forgot one...don’t worry I’ll let you join those weaklings soon enough” as he began to walk towards the bandit who then looked behind to see his troops were already in the distance fleeing he knew he couldn’t get away.

As asura raised his right hand to destroy the human a voice entered his head. “--not that one, bring him to Gregson--” (A.N - is personal thought while two -- is telepathy)

Asura blinked as he looked around and spoke “master?..” Avrin who was in his carriage smiled and replied using a newly acquired technique. “-- This is telepathy Asura I’m using dark matter to transmit my thoughts to you using mana as link conduit I can also hear your voice as it transmits through the mana its quite an interesting ability--.”

Asura widened his expression revealing his teeth and smiling “master that is incredible I want to learn it too!” showing signs of interest. While Asura was occupied, the bandit leader took the chance to slash with a long sword towards Asura's head thinking the creature was crazy talking to itself.

As the blade hit Asura it shattered into pieces unable to pierce his defensive fur but it made Asura growl and in a half second he had tore the man's sword arm off “sneaky bastard…” he spoke but Avrin's voice called out again “--remember alive bring him to Gregson….--”

Annoyed and frustrated Asura gave in his masters’ request as he began to drag the screaming bandit leader down the small mountainous hill. The soldiers were busy cleaning up and carrying their dead away while Gregson was looking at a report of the casualties and damages with Karina by his side.

A sudden flash before a thump was heard. Asura had arrived behind them and dropped the bandit leader who was clutching his wound in pain while calling out “s...spare me my lord!!” he called out to Gregson who looked at Asura then the man figuring what the situation was.

Gregson called out “have someone heal this man's wounds….then chain him up...he will have his justice in the capital “ Gregson showed a deep hatred for this bandit. Karina’s gaze was fixed on Asura she looked at him with awe as well as fear, he had instantly changed the tide of the battle and an ambush at that. She began to think even more highly of Avrin “-two monsters….what are their purpose….-”

Asura then returned to his own carriage and Gregson dared not ask him to wait. “Master sorry I dirtied the clothes you made me…” Avrin looking out the glass pane seeing the mess “its fine I doubt its something that we can fix for it to not happen again.”

Avrin's intention was to get a good look at how well Asura had improved and what he was like in a combat situation which was why he suppressed his own desire to fight to get a better understanding. He wasn’t let down Asura indeed improved despite the creature doing hardly any training it was a little scary.

But this was somewhat expected, Avrin would also improve over time without training but he does so to further increase the improvement rate. A flow of nebula mist flooded from under the carriages door frame and engulfed Asura who didn’t move as he knew what was happening.

In seconds the blood and stains on his clothing were removed as if nothing had happened. Tyrin who had a bandage over his shoulder and was walking to Avrin's carriage stopped, his eyes widened as he gazed with awe, “-i..incredible…thank the gods I was more careful with my actions…-”

A sudden flashback of Tyrin as he showed Avrin the vial of his blood and Avrin snatching it from his hands and destroying it. Tyrin was smarter and wanted Avrin's trust he had given it to him on purpose knowing it would be taken away but also know that Avrin wouldn’t suspect anything else from him.

Which is why Tyrin had taken a second vial and hid it well, he was the most eager of the lot to return to the capital so he could study the vial and see what secrets Avrin's blood held, his intentions of course would be kept secret.

With Asura's outfit now cleaned he jumped back onto the top of the carriage and laid back down “master, I’m hungry…” he groaned in a pitiful manner that Avrin ignored as Gregson now approached the carriage with Tyrin beside him.

“l..Lord Avrin your companion Asura is surely a force to be reckoned with…Thanks to his actions a lot of our dead comrades have received revenge and the culprit who orchestrated this all will be put to justice. I fear what would have happened had you not agreed to come with me.”

Avrin tried to down play it all as some thing on this scale after what he had been through was nothing. “I apologize I had not acted sooner, I expected your soldiers to be capable of handling it but I had no expected there to be so many bandits.”

He spoke although it was a lie and he knew that there were at least 500+ of them using his dark sense. “It's fine lord Avrin for now we will be departing quickly just in case another attack occurs.”

With the rose blades mourning their dead comrades and Karina busy with it all, the convoy quickly went on after collecting there dead. Over the course of the trip they had been able to properly bury them and hold the proper ritual as they entered a town only a few hours travel from the mountainous path.

With the convoy fixed and mercenaries hired for protection their travel hadn’t met any more resistance with a force of a few dozen soldiers and 100 mercenary’s, who would attack them in the open.

Continuing on Avrin admired the sights of the farmlands, they were incredibly well cared for with villages littering the horizon. It seemed humanity took advantage of the land. As time passed by they had finally reached the capital city of the human empire.
