---------------

With a flash of light, Leo appeared in the arena. Avrin had an aching feeling in his heart, and his Divine Sense instantly surrounded the man. “-Are you kidding me?-” He thought to himself. He never expected that he would come face to face with the emperor and only Sigil wielder within the central continent.

Avrin walked back to the center of the arena before smiling softly. “Greetings, Your Majesty. I am truly honored to be in your presence.” He bowed with fake respect. Avrin wanted to keep up appearances. He did not respect this man at all, but he was interested as to why he was here.

“Oh, you know me? It's quite rare for someone to know what I look like, as I don't make many public appearances. Though at least you're respectful, so I will give you that.”

Avrin listened to Leo and nodded. “Your Majesty, it would be hard to not recognize someone with such a powerful aura. I don't think there are any Grandmasters within the central continent capable of making me feel nervous, and you are not the female Sage. The only other option is that you are the king.”

Leo gave a hearty chuckle before nodding. “Yes, I suppose that’s true. Well, I won't beat around the bush. Herth, was it? I'm here to be your next opponent. I set up this test myself, and it would be a bit weird for the impossible to become possible.”

Avrin’s eyes narrowed slightly. Leo’s words meant that he was confident in beating Avrin and didn't intend to let him win. “Very well Your Majesty. Though I have a question and a request before we fight.”

Leo gave a look of awe. Not many people would want a request and ask a question when they would be facing the king and seem as relaxed as Avrin. Leo clearly felt this boy was not normal and most likely had a trick up his sleeve.

He didn't plan to underestimate him at all. A boy at his age capable of defeating Grandmasters was quite monstrous. He could only sigh in regret, wishing his son had half of Herth’s talent.

“You're quite gutsy Herth, I like that. Tell me what you want to say, I will humor you.” Avrin’s heart loosened a little and began to beat quickly. “Is it true you possess a piece of Skymetal?” Asked Avrin. Leo replied casually, as if it wasn't a big deal. “Oh, that? Indeed I do.”

Leo raised his right hand and a ring on his index finger began to glow. A large, near perfect sphere wrapped in strange paper-like bindings and metal chains appeared. The weight of it was enough to cause Leo’s arm to lower slightly.

Avrin looked at it with awe. He could feel the strange energy within those bindings. It made his heart flutter. He was even more convinced that it was Skymetal, as Astaroth began to twitch a little, as if feeling aggressive.

“This ore is quite dangerous. It almost attacked me several times, which is why I have it heavily sealed.” Leo smiled and the chunk of Skymetal turned white before vanishing back into the space within Leo’s ring.

Avrin’s mind was racing. “-No wonder I couldn't detect it, it was hidden within that ring. I never knew spacial pockets came in the shape of rings. They must be quite valuable-”

Avrin had a slight look of greed as he thought this. Leo felt Avrin truly wanted the Skymetal. It was not hard for him to see. “I'm guessing you want it. Unfortunately for you, it’s too dangerous. Though if you defeat me, I will give it to you freely.”

Avrin frowned a little. Leo wasn't making this easy for him. By telling him that, he obviously meant that Avrin would never have a chance to obtain it. He thought Avrin could never defeat him, thus he gave a false hope. “If I defeat you, I can obtain it? That is fine with me. My request is that if you have a larger arena, I would like to fight you there without anyone watching.”

Leo’s eyes widened with astonishment. The words spoken by this boy clearly showed he wasn't as simple as he thought. His own heart quickened. “Hmm, you're quite strange, Herth. Though I won't doubt your reasons. Indeed, there is my personal training grounds that is located several miles underground.”

With a click of his fingers, both Avrin and Leo were engulfed in a blue light before they vanished. The spectators showed worrisome looks. “Huh?! Where did His Majesty and Herth go?” One of the Grandmasters, an eighty year old looking man, asked

Retria, of course, knew the blue teleportation light signified being transported to Leo’s personal training grounds. “His Majesty has decided to fight the boy in a larger space hidden from our eyes. That Herth is truly remarkable to convince His Majesty to do this.”

They continued to whisper and debate the current situation, wondering what Avrin’s origins were and just how powerful he could be. Meanwhile, appearing within an almost boundless space underground, one could see it was more like a dome. The floor was even sturdier than the arena’s above, and the walls and the ceiling were unable to be seen, showing how large it was be.

Glancing around, Avrin was able to get an estimate about the size of this arena. It was the size of about two football fields, which showed making it would require a lot of work and mages who specialize in earth affinity spells.

“The only time I have ever fought someone here was when I had a sparring match with Lord Abbadon. Of course, it nearly tore this place apart. Reconstructing it was truly bothersome, though I'm sure our match won't last long, let alone be as powerful.”

Avrin glanced at Leo and the ring on his finger. “-That Skymetal will be mine, even if I have to cut his entire hand off to get it!-” A slightly crazy glint showed in Avrin’s eyes. He knew how valuable Skymetal was and how much it could help him progress. Leo was treating treasure like trash.

“That's fine Your Majesty. I am ready when you are.” Avrin smiled before taking a defensive stance. He would put all his effort into defense just to get an idea of how the king fought. This was a Sigil wielder he didn't want to underestimate.

“Good, hahahahaha!” Leo suddenly unleashed his mana, showing that his affinity was attuned to fire. His mana pool was like a small ocean that was similar to Abbadon’s yet still significantly smaller.

“First test, your agility!” Leo pulled his hand back and punched the air. The attack caused the air to split apart and push towards Avrin as a ranged attack. This attack was clearly at the very least as strong as a peak Grandmaster, as it was completely casual.

Avrin felt the attack itself looked scary, but it was definitely avoidable. Avrin dashed to the side, avoiding the large attack that plowed into the wall of the dome coliseum behind him, causing it to tremble as a large indentation and crack formed, showing that the wall was sturdy.

“Good, good! How about this?” Leo called out. One could clearly see he was playing around with Avrin. His fists turned into blurs as he punched towards Avrin, sending around thirty of the previous attack towards him.

He increased his speed somewhat as he began to dodge each and every one of these attacks with room to spare. They were not fast enough to cause him worry in the least. “Your Majesty, if this is all you have, this match will be mine.” Avrin taunted him. He wanted to test Leo.

Leo’s face twisted a little. “You little.. Hmph, very well.” He snickered before he took a deep breath, his muscles expanding a little. He turned into a quick blur and appeared before Avrin.

Avrin was astonished, but he didn't have time to think, as Leo had already punched towards him. The punch itself was at least five times stronger than the previous ones.

Without a second thought, Avrin’s speed heightened and he turned into a dark blur that avoided the attack with a little room to spare, showing his speed, at this moment, wasn't any less than Leo’s.

The punch that Leo had thrown smashed into the ground, causing it to tremble as the floor tiles cracked, a small crater forming. One had to understand the materials used to construct this dome were all of rare quality. The durability was quite high. Had this been normal ground, no doubt it would cause it to split and a small earthquake to occur.

“-What level is his base strength?-” Avrin wracked his brain trying to figure it out. Leo didn't give him time, as he continuously chased and appeared before Avrin, punching towards him and causing Avrin to constantly have to dodge. Of course, the one who was shocked the most was leo. He knew his own strength better than anyone else.

“-This boy is crazy. How is he avoiding my attacks? I'm showing the physical prowess of a peak Sage expert and, despite holding myself back, he is still dodging it all-” The pace continued on for several more attacks before Leo returned to one side of the dome coliseum.

Neither he or Avrin seemed tired at all. “I must say Herth, you're hiding your real strength, aren't you? Lord Abbadon was correct in being suspicious of you. I wonder what event occurred for you to be spawned. Are you even human?!” Leo shouted.

Avrin gazed casually at Leo. “Your Majesty, I am simply an Enigma ability user.” Hearing Avrin’s response, Leo raised a brow. He couldn't deny it, yet he still had a bad feeling. “That may very well be the case, but,” Leo snickered and his body seemingly vanished into thin air. The speed of his movement caused Avrin to feel his heart skip a beat. He saw Leo appear to his side before a punch was headed his way.

“-Shit-” With a thought, Avrin emitted Phantom Pulse around the area, causing Leo’s speed to lessen enough for Avrin to kick his feet off the ground and narrowly avoid being hit. The punch blew the air apart and caused a screeching sound, as if it was shot by laser artillery, which Avrin had used a lot in his previous life.

The punch plowed against the wall of the dome colosseum, causing a large, fifteen meter, circular hole to appear, with a depth of ten meters. Leo remained where he stood with his fist in the air as he showed astonishment.

“That was incredible. That must have been your Enigma ability to do with gravity, correct? To even handle my full base strength at the early Legendary stage to falter and avoid it... Other than us Sigil wielders, it would be a miracle to find someone capable of competing with you. Though again, let’s see how quick you react.”

As Leo spoke, just like before, he vanished, showing that his strength was above the Sage level, at the early Legendary stage. He continuously chased Avrin and bombard him with monstrous attacks, causing Avrin to keep his guard up as well as use Phantom Pulse to slow him down. Leo still seemed as if he were playing around though.

Avrin was trying to think of a way to defeat him. Although his identity was somewhat at risk, he was still contemplating whether to use his full strength to take on the king, who continued to chase Avrin. Leo suddenly snickered before jumping into the air. His mana surged again, as if an ocean was crashing down on Avrin. “-This feeling!-” Avrin had felt it before several times. It was the feeling of one being on the level of a dragon. It was a sign that King Leo had finally gotten serious.

A light engulfed Leo’s body and two objects suddenly appeared within his hands, a sword and shield. The shield was pure gold and emit a soft light. The sword in his other hand looked transparent, but still seemed sharp enough to split the sky and land apart. Avrin knew it wouldn't be good if he got hit by it.

“Well done forcing me to use my Sigil weapons. Let me tell you something, Herth. I was never good at attacking, but when it comes to defence and countering, I pride myself, knowing that on Seleria, there isn't a being that comes close to me with Aegis and Caliburn in hand. Even if a dragon were to attack, I am confident in being able to repel it. This match will not be yours. At best, you will run out of stamina long before me.”

Leo chuckled a little. Never in his life did he think he would use his Sigil weapons against a child. It made him furious inside. Then again, it also meant that this child was truly strange. Avrin snickered a little.

He didn't want to stay on the defence for too long, so as Leo raised the shield up to take his a defencive stance, Avrin wanted to test it. Turning into a blur, Avrin appeared in front of Leo before shooting his fist towards the shield.

The blow contained his full muscle strength. It caused a ripple and the air shuddered, but the shield seemed to glow a strange light before the force of Avrin’s attack was easily dissipated. Avrin got a clue about the Sigil weapon’s ability. “-It negates physical attacks?-”

Avrin smiled before he jumped back. He raised his hands and two large void spheres appeared in them. “Your physical strength is not bad at all boy! Oh?” Leo noticed the black spheres in Avrin’s hands and narrowed his eyes. “-Demonic magic?!!-” He thought.

The void spheres shot towards Aegis and collided with it. Aegis emitted a light like the shield, before the attacks were easily dissipated yet again. “That’s strange magic you have Herth. Is this your Enigma ability too?”

Avrin grinned. He could only be thankful that this king was the defensive type, but it also meant that he didn't have many options. “Your Majesty, I have quite a few tricks. For instance, this!” Avrin roared before he used Phantom Pulse on Leo. But white shield of light appeared around him, causing it to distort a little as the ground cracked, but Leo didn't seem phased at all.

“You're quite a scary child Herth. If I did not have my Sigil weapons I would not be your match at all. You're a strange existence. Then again, this is why those of Seleria refer to people like you as Enigmas. Powers that are useless, or ones that even rival the gods! You truly can’t be underestimated. How about we call this match a draw? I am willing to bite my tongue on this, given what you will achieve in the future.”

Avrin frowned. He wanted that Skymetal. “Your Majesty, that Skymetal...is there no way to acquire it?” Leo looked at Avrin strangely as the Phantom Pulse continued to circle around him. “Why exactly do you want it so badly?“

Avrin sighed. “I have my reasons, Your Majesty. I will not forfeit this fight or call it a draw. I'm confident I can win.” This Leo frown a little.

“You overestimate yourself.” Suddenly, Aegis began to glow a radiant white, before the circular shield around it expanded incredibly quick, dispelling Avrin’s Phantom Pulse and pushing against him.

Avrin was astonished. He thought Leo would be just a immobile fortress. He could never have known he was capable of this. He was unable to move and didn’t feel capable of using a Void Step to go through the shield. H felt the moment he touched it that he was weakened, as if it were draining his stamina.

The expanding shield smashed Avrin against the wall, leaving a large hole, before retracting back into Aegis. “Aegis was a weapon I chose because I needed to not only protect myself, but my Empire. I am capable of emitting a divine shield of light large enough to cover the entire city. Even a dragon would not be able to destroy this shield. But the downside is I am unable to move while I channel it.”

Avrin appeared from the crack covered in wounds, blood dripping from his mouth. Of course, the blood was red. He felt his insides quiver a little. He was caught between a rock and a hard place.

“-I could always use Astaroth and see if that does the trick, but I'm not willing just yet-” Avrin’s biggest worry was that he would miss this chance. He didn't mind being hunted down, but his actions would have consequences.

“Boy, you're quite durable, but just surrender. If I want to win, it will be quite simple. I'm just trying to boost your reputation.” Leo spoke, as if he was sure that Avrin would join him. But this was a sort of gamble.

“Your Majesty, I will not surrender…” Avrin was enjoying this fight. It gave him an idea of just how powerful a Sigil wielder truly is. He created a void greatsword in his right hand, and the appearance of this blade made Leo narrow his eyes.

“-That weapon.. No mana at all. Abbadon said that the traps guarding Azrael were unable to pick up anything. This means he is right in suspecting this strange child. But why would he free Azrael?-”

Slashing the greatsword at Leo, Avrin felt he didn't have anything to fear, as Leo still seemed to be holding back and not keen on injuring him. His best bet was to try to attack many times and figure out a weakness.

“Fool!” Leo roared, before raising Caliburn and giving a casual slash. It sent a ripple and the air was cut. Avrin’s void greatsword was easily split in half and the speed of the sword slash was incredibly quick. Enough so that it cut against Avrin’s cheek before he was able to dodge.

“-That weapon… Such an annoying situation... There are pros and cons to using my full strength, what should I do?-” Avrin thought, but from the cut that Caliburn had given him, blue blood slowly trickled down his cheek.

Leo’s eyes narrowed when he noticed this. “Herth, it seems that you have forced my hand. I wanted to recruit you, but it seems you are after my Skymetal no matter what. I also have been asked by someone that if your strength is large I am to alert him.”

Avrin looked around. He had just noticed the blue blood on his cheek, but his attention was caught when he heard Leo’s shout. “Angel! We’ll play it your way now…” Within a room located in the palace, a figure with their eyes shut suddenly opened them. This was the angel Abbadon had assigned to keep an eye on Avrin.

She had already gotten information on him and had made the trip to the Empire before hand to discuss things with Leo. Thus, several rules were made. Abbadon knew Leo would always try to strengthen his Empire and had to be cautious. Abbadon also knew leo was friendly to him, but a human was still a human, biting off more than they could chew. In this case, Leo had measured the outcome.

Not only did Avrin show enough capability to deal with the strength of a Legendary level individual, but he even forced that individual to use his Sigil weapons and enter the level of a Mythical being.

It was only then that Avrin could be countered, but this also meant that Leo had given up on recruiting him. He knew from the moment he matched up to the strength of someone at the Legendary stage that Avrin was suspicious.

He was at Laymist academy, and even the Dark Abyss Chasm when Azrael was released. His location was strange, and one couldn't feel mana from him. Leo and Abbadon were not fools. Avrin was the only one able to free Azrael.

The angel raised her hands, showing that she held a white ball of light. She had spent the entire day channeling this to prepare for the moment Leo agreed, as Abbadon didn't want an issue with him and the king.

A white flash of light appeared as the circular sphere of magic expanded. The result was that an elegant and strong looking figure was present. This person was Angel Lord Abbadon, who had been waiting for this moment.

“-Little bastard. See if I don't rip the truth from your soul!-” Avrin clenched his teeth as he swayed his hands, before being surrounded by a blue light. The teleportation runes were formed by angels in the Empire, thus it was easy for Abbadon to access them.

Avrin was on full alert, but as another figure appeared within the arena not too far from Leo, he felt his heart sink. “-Abbadon!-” At the appearance of Abbadon, Leo frowned a little. “It seems you were right. What a shame. In any case, is this boy really an Enigma ability user? He could be some sort of spell made by Driada.” He spoke, referring to to the demon queen.

Abbadon looked at Leo, who had his Sigil weapons out, and then at Avrin, who glanced back with a near expressionless look. “Herth, you're quite strong, though a lot of things are very strange. I feel I will get all the answers I need from you.

Whether you are right or wrong will be found out soon enough. I watched your fight with Leo and I am quite impressed. Catching you will be troublesome, and I would very much like to keep this matter secret, so do not cause trouble for me and surrender.”

Avrin frowned. He didn't want to conceal himself any longer. “Angel Lord, you're quite perceptive. Like a parasite that never gives up. You almost killed me in the elven continent, and even now stick around. I am simply here to collect that piece of Skymetal and nothing more.”

Abbadon’s expression changed as he snickered. He had finally found the culprit, but he soon thought. “-Elven continent?-” Thinking back, he remembered the issue with Myra and Syrana, as well as what they fought about. “I see. So you were there, correct? No doubt you were probably almost caught in that explosion. I will have to question you about that as well. In the meantime.”

Abbadon raised his hand before chanting. A white ring of light formed above him and extended for several meters in the air. “Divine Seal… The very seal I used to capture a weakened Azrael. I'm sure it is enough for you.” The ring of light shot towards Avrin, leaving a trail of transparent light in its wake.
