Jumping up towards the Draconian, Avrin grinned under his bloodied mask, as his face twisted slightly, before kneeing the creature in the jaw with as much strength as he could muster with one jump. The Draconian felt a surge of pain, as its brain and skull rattled slightly. Its jaw dislocated as it stumbled back in a daze.

Avrin landed softly on the ground as he rubbed his knee. “Your body...it's surprisingly harder than your brother’s… Why didn't you help him? You and him could have made it tougher for me if you worked together...”

The Draconian slowly recovered from its daze, as it managed to finally overpower the dark matter with its mana. It reached up with its large hand and twisted it's jaw. The sound of bones cracking slightly was heard as it's jaw was soon placed back into its position.

It seemed unfazed, which made Avrin somewhat disappointed, but he knew he could injure it. “The great one's law… Only one of us Half bloods may be present in any battle chamber… We may not act until intruders come to our room...”

Avrin raised his brow curiously. “Interesting… Why would this great one set this ru-” The Draconian dared not give Avrin time to rest, as it knew he had some sort of healing ability. It emitted it's terrifying killing intent as it smashed down towards Avrin.

Avrin chuckled in a pouty way as he jumped back, avoiding the attack. But the ground wasn't so lucky, as it smashed and split under the creature's blow with debris flying around. “Can't we talk things through? “ Avrin raised his hands in a calming gesture.

But the Draconian seemed to have taken this as an insult, as its eyes narrowed. “I'm done toying with you…. Your friends will be here soon…and I need your corpse to welcome them...” The Draconian reached behind it's back and took the hammer that was hanging around a strap that went around it's body.

Avrin felt a spine tingling threat. “-That hammer… If I get hit by that, it won't fare well for me…-” The Draconian took a deep breath, before it's body radiated an intense amount of mana that shook the room and engulfed all around it.

The hammer seemed to respond by radiating a dark mana that matched the intensity of the Draconian. “Void Greatsword...” Avrin said, raising his right hand. A large amount of dark matter surged down his arm before forming a large greatsword that seemed similar to the Void Sword, but had a thicker, more menacing edge, as it also radiated energy.

The Draconian charged towards Avrin. With each step it shook the chamber, before reaching near Avrin it gave a casual swing towards him.

Avrin also swung the great sword with both hands towards the hammer, and as the two weapons collided, a pulse of energy caused the metallic tiles to crack and the walls to twist. Kael, who was frightened to death on the other side of the door, could only pant heavily from fear at the rumbling sounds. Although he wasn't skilled, the energy and mana dispensed by the attacks and the Draconian was enough for him to feel that the battle was intense.

“Master….forgive me… I'm so useless…. I'm useless!” Kael uttered helplessly as the two combatants battled for supremacy. It was obvious Avrin’s greatsword was weaker, as cracks had begun to form. He had to emit Nebula Mist to heal it. But the Draconian snickered before roaring out. “Earth Shaker!” The hammer emitted a menacing dark affinity mana before it seemed to form a manifestation of energy that soon crushed towards the greatsword, effortlessly shattering it and smashing against Avrin.

Seeing the mana of the hammer form, Avrin wasn't dumb enough to take it head on. He knew his sword couldn't withstand it, and he willed the Nebula Mist to form a Shadow Wall, managing to create one at the right moment.

The hammer smashed against the wall, also shattering that, but losing a majority of the force before it hit towards Avrin, who crossed his arms to block. The force was enough to blow him back several meters and break some bones in his arms, as well as dent the metal in his gauntlets.

Feeling that his arms were numb, Avrin frowned while gazing at the Draconian. “-I could use Void Crystal, but infusing it with more dark matter is something I haven't managed to master yet…I’ll have to go with what I got-”

As his broken arms had healed enough for him to raise them, the Draconian cautiously began to walk towards Avrin. “-I'll just outsmart this guy...-” Raising his hand, Avrin began to charge Void Spheres, before firing them towards the Draconian. The sounds of them launching echoed slightly.

The Draconian snickered, before the dark mana around the hammer emitted more powerfully. The Draconian then began to hit the Void Spheres away, deflecting them with ease. Avrin continued before snickering. He formed two more Void Spheres and fired them towards the Draconian, who neared him.

The Draconian laughed heartily and spoke out. “It's useless… Your vile magic can't defeat my Legion Hammer the great one himself gifted me…” As he was about to hit the Void Spheres, the spheres themselves stopped in midair, and shattered into shards that than surrounded the Draconian.

“Void Crystal shards…” Avrin uttered quietly. The Draconian looked around, not daring to make a single move, as it eyed around itself being surrounded by hundreds of small glowing shards of dark matter.

“Tricks won't save you…” Avrin willed the shards to attack the Draconian. The Draconian laughed out, before the energy of the Legion Hammer extended, blocking the Void Shards with ease. Avrin made sure to fire 2 more Void Spheres that shattered into Void Crystal shards to try and keep the Draconian at bay.

The Draconian felt no issue as he began to walk, with the Legion Hammer’s dark affinity mana protecting him. “It's no use… This hammer was gifted to the great one by the former demon king! It's made from Unique metals combined with magic! A gift from a demon to kill a demon! Hahahaha!”

Avrin remained quiet, before stopping his assault on the Draconian. As the Draconian neared within 2 meters, Avrin spoke. “I'm curious. Why is it that you only came when my companion triggered a trap?”

The Draconian tilted his head as the dark mana shield remained. “I’ve always wanted to see the look of despair on someone's face as they realize they have done something that spells their doom”

Avrin tilted his head and raised his hand. “I see.” The Draconian grinned before taking another step forward, but stopped, as it saw a faint purple glow under its feet. It's eyes widened with worry.

Underneath the Draconian, Nebula Mist had gathered into a large circle under it. It began to think to itself. “-When did he do this… Wait! He kept me occupied and focused on thinking! He was weak...but I should have seen this!-”

Avrin wasted no more time before forming a Shadow Dome around the Draconian. “I bet you're thinking why you couldn't see it… I hid the mist under the debris and the cracks in the ground… You were simply too dumb and let me gather such an amount”

“-This should buy me some time-” Avrin thought to himself, before he raised his hand and began to gather a large amount of Nebula Mist, having used a large amount of dark matter to heal his wound, then and continuing to heal them. He had no choice but to devour the mana around him to shape the Nebula Mist.

“Insect!” The Shadow Dome began to shake, as small cracks started to form. Avrin showed a sign of worry. “Hmph… That hammer is tougher than I expected...” Forming the mist into an object, Avrin was grinning menacingly. “-Just wait you lizard bastard… I'll cook something up for you…-”

“GRAGH!!” The Draconian roared out, before the Legion Hammer emitted more dark mana, and with both hands he swung with full force, managing to break apart the shadow dome. He then gazed at Avrin, who seemed to be still, but eyed him as if he were waiting.

“Your physical strength is impressive, as well as that weapon. But I don't think you're threatening enough for me to fight with my life on the line… You're only so-so. “Avrin spoke, as he hid his right hand beneath his cloak, using his left to make a swaying gesture to taunt the lizard.

The Draconian’s eyes twitched as it hissed at him. “Insect… How dare you mock me!! Perish already!!” Raising the Legion Hammer with both hands, it began to infuse the weapon with its own mana before rushing towards Avrin.

“I can't seem to take you seriously… You're threatening, but I don't feel that I will lose my life. As an apology, have this.” Avrin raised his right hand, holding a round object with a dark blue color with two words inscribed on it. If one gazed carefully they would see that the words read, P.F Grenade”

Turning around, Avrin didn't hesitate to cover his eyes tightly as he let his guard down to shield his eyes. The Draconian gazed at the object and laughed out. “Worm. This won't work on-!” As he spoke and approached near the grenade, not bothering to dodge it, he knew it was a big mistake.

For a couple of moments, sound could not be heard, as a white light as bright as a star engulfed the entire room, blinding the Draconian at point blank range, but also giving him the sensation of being burnt.

“GAHHA!” He screeched in agony as the light vanished. Avrin turned around, seeing the Draconian drop the hammer as it held its eyes in pain. “I CAN'T SEE!!! “ Walking over to the Draconian, Avrin tilted his head. “There's your mistake… You underestimated me… But that's fine...I'll forgive you...”

Avrin gazed at the hammer the Draconian dropped, before reaching down and picking it up. He felt it was indeed quite heavy. Only someone with inhuman strength could wield it, and even then they would need to have good balance, meaning it was perfect for him.

As the Draconian fell to its knees, slowly recovering, it peaked out from between its long scaled fingers, seeing that it's eyes were still not fully recovered. It saw Avrin’s blurred figure approach it. “Y...You...YOU!! HOW DARE YOU USE SUCH A MAGIC!!”

Avrin walked over to the Draconian, who was on his knees, gazing at him. “Magic? That was no magic.” With a swift motion, the hammer turned into a blur, before Avrin smashed it against the creature's side with great force.

The air trembled as the ground shattered somewhat. The Draconian bounced like a ragdoll across the ground, before smashing into a wall. Avrin showed no mercy or any signs of easing up, as he casually patted the hammer and began to walk over, towards the Draconian.

“That is technology...” Gazing for a moment, Avrin stopped in his tracks, as the doors he had sealed off blew open with a fiery mana bursting out into the chamber. The dark matter sealing it shattered like glass, and the door frames themselves came unhinged as they flew off.

Avrin looked over calmly, as his Divine Sense already discovered who it was. “Oh, you're all here?” Avrin uttered out towards the individuals at the door. As the dust settled, a fist emitting a fiery red mana pointed forward softly went down, revealing it's owner to be Clovis. “Oho! Finally caught up. You had me worried for a moment.”

Felia, who was behind him to avoid the attack, rushed in as she smiled outward towards Avrin. “A...Avrin! You're alive!” Gazing at Felia, who seemed to be overjoyed, he nodded. “Indeed I am. Why wouldn't I be?” He spoke as he resumed walking toward the Draconian, who was coughing out blood and slowly getting out of the hole that he had caused.

“Uhh...” Felia looked over, seeing the strange Draconian, but felt things were fine. “Kael...said...you were in danger...” Kael, who was being held by Wyni, was near tears as he rushed forward, out of her arms. He called out “Master!”

Avrin spoke out as he approached the Draconian. “Ah, yes. I'll be done soon, don't worry...” The Draconian, whose sight was damaged, looked at the faintly blurred Avrin carrying his hammer.

“M...My hammer!!...Give….GIVE IT BACK!” It rushed towards him, but it's movements were clumsy and hindered due to its sight, as well as its injuries. Avrin dashed forward, using his right palm to use a Shadow Splinter against the creature's stomach.

With the force causing the weakened Draconian to stumble and cough out blood, it held it's stomach and dropped to its knees, Clovis whistled and laughed. “That's quite an attack. I wouldn't want to get hit by-”

Before he finished, Avrin mercilessly swung the hammer down onto the Draconians back with great strength, smashing it into the ground causing a small crater to form. The Draconian screeched in agony as it felt the strength of the blow crash down on it.

Avrin quietly looked at it. “You think I won't pay you back for that sneak attack before?” Using his right foot, he turned the creature over onto its stomach, as his eyes darkened slightly. He emitted a killing aura that made the Draconian, who was panting for breath, wince in terror.

“W...Wait...w...we can talk this thro-!!” Avrin threw the hammer to the side, before he emitted dark matter into his fist. He began to barrage the Draconian with heavy punches, causing the ground to shake rapidly with each punch.

Just like the Draconian did to him, he returned the favor. The Draconian didn’t use any technique, and neither did Avrin. Just his raw energy to pummel the creature. This lasted for several minutes, and the scene had already gotten the attention of the mercs, who were cautiously watching with fear on the side of the crater.

Kael looked at Avrin with worry. “Master...w...why?” The Draconian was a bloody pulp. Avrin had made sure to use a set amount of force, wanting the Draconian to feel the pain it caused him. Avrin soon stopped, as he raised his body, panting slightly.

His gauntlets were covered with the Draconian’s blood. It wheezed in agony, barely alive. “So….I guess I'll see you off then.” Avrin grabbed the Legion Hammer that was by his side and raised it up, ready to strike the finishing blow.

As he was about to bring it down, a hand grabbed onto his. “I'm not sure...what happened between you and this creature...but you defeated it… There is no honor in killing someone or something when it's down…”

Avrin glanced to his side, seeing Clovis gripping his fist firmly. “Hmmm...” Avrin turned to look at the Draconian, then up at the faces of the mercenaries, that showed signs of fear, some stepping back as he made eye contact. He then looked at the worried Kael and Felia, who seemed to show a look of caution.

“I'm done here... anyway” Avrin dropped the hammer to the side before stepping out of the crater that had formed on an angle, allowing him to walk up it. Making his way over to the side where his cloak was with the enchanted sac hidden under it for safety, he reached to pick it up but stumbled slightly, as he felt quite dizzy.

“Hmm!” His mind grew blurry as he fell to his knees and coughed out some coagulated blue blood. “-My body…took a beating. I lost a lot of blue blood… I guess I can recycle it-” Raising his hand, the dark matter contained in the bits of blue blood that stained the ground as well as his clothing began to separate from it.

A stream of purple mist began to make its way towards Avrin for a moment, before it entered his body. Although it had brought only a slight relief, it was better than nothing. Avrin continued over towards the wall of the chamber and leaned against it.

When he sat down, he looked over, seeing hundreds of eyes focused on him. Not one person could understand what had happened. He mercilessly beat his opponent to near death before walking off as if nothing had happened.

Avrin grumbled slightly, before he began to slowly draw the mana in the area to try and help replenish the dark matter he lost as he paid no more attention to them. He shut his eyes to try and rest, knowing regardless of how long he did the Draconian would still be unable to move before Avrin did.

As Avrin began to draw in the mana from the area, he decided to take the time to nap, feeling a strange urge to sleep. What welcomed him was no dream but a dark void with images flashing before his eyes.

Friends he made, friends he saw die, people he met, people that died, many images of those he killed and mercilessly tortured for information. His mind came across one memory that seemed as clear as day.

“General, why? Why would you kill so many? We could have quarantined the system…. We could have somehow found a way to save them!!” A blurry female image gazed over a young Avrin, who was sitting inside his cell, leaning against it with a calm look.

He looked at the blurry female image that soon began to clear up, revealing a young girl with shoulder length blonde hair. She had an innocent, childish look, but the tears staining her eyes and the anger mixed in made it hard to see her as a child.

She looked as if her dreams had been shattered, and something terrible had happened. As Avrin gazed at her, unable to control his actions, as if he were a silent puppet in his own body, he spoke the words he did on that day before his trial had started.

“It was an unavoidable sacrifice… Hate me as much as you want. I would do it again.” The young female wearing a similar uniform to him neared the glowing bars of the cell Avrin was in, but didn't touch them. She raised her fist as it shook with anger. Her body shaking. Causing her curves that were still clear under the uniform to shake slightly.

“HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT!?!” She called out in anger. “Y...You… You….always found a solution to every obstacle… Finding another way to handle a situation…. But you changed ever since this virus…. The only method you took was to kill anyone or anything that had it…” Avrin glanced at her and remained quiet.

The female whose tears ran down her cheek sighed quietly. “The outcome of your trial is obvious…. Goodbye…. I hope that if there is such a thing as reincarnation...you will find redemption. General… It was an honor serving as your Lieutenant…”

The female then vanished from sight, leaving Avrin feeling somewhat strange. But it was cut short as two guards appeared and neared his cell. One spoke out “Your trial is starting!” Avrin gazed at him as he didn't move.

The guard spoke but the tone was much different, causing Avrin to raise a brow. “Master? Master, are you ok?” Feeling confused, as Avrin was about to reply, everything turned black and another rush of images appeared in his head.

A deepened voice accompanied these strange images that he had never seen before, too fast for even him to properly analyze. Especially with his surprised state of mind. “Perish with your cursed Regalia!”

Avrin felt a strange sense of anger as he reached out and grabbed in front of him into the darkness, feeling something soft as he gripped onto it tightly “Argh!..” He felt a soft voice squeal, slightly in pain.

It was then that he was snapped out of his sleep, gazing with his eyes focused on the figure he was gripping the flesh of. He found his hand was clasping Kael’s neck tightly as he tried to free himself. “M...Master!!” He uttered out weakly.

Avrin immediately let go, as he stood up and placed his hand against the wall, panting slightly, as he faced the wall and raised his mask slightly as he pressed the cold metal of his gauntlet over his face.

“Kael...I...I apologize…” Kael, who rubbed his neck, looked around, seeing that no one had saw this as they had all seemed to set up a sort of place to rest with some tents blocking Kael and Avrin’s position.

“Master...are you ok?” Avrin lowered his mask, turning to look at him. “I'm fine.” Avrin looked around to see the scene that played out the chamber was now converted into a sort of base camp. But it didn't faze him significantly.

Kael nodded as he stood up. “Master, you must be hungry. Let's go eat. It's also weird here, and hard to breath….so I'm going back first.” With that said, Kael soon left, and Avrin soon felt that the mana around where he stood was nearly completely drained, and that mana from the area was flooding in to try and replenish it. But he also felt his body had healed, and he had nearly restored all the dark matter he had lost to healing.

He began to make his way towards the camp. “-Dreams… As a human, they were welcome, but as a Spectral they torment me… Those images... What could they have been? And who was that man and this ‘Regalia’ he spoke of...-”

As Avrin pondered this, he entered the campsite, which soon grew somewhat quiet as the mercenaries quickly got out of his way in fear. Clovis, who was eating a stew near the campfire, laughed as he saw Avrin. “Oh, you're awake? And you're looking as good as ever. It's going to be annoying to get those blood stains out I’d say.”

Avrin looked down at his attire seeing it was somewhat shredded and torn. But the blood had only a color of red, as the dark matter that turned it blue was long absorbed into him. With a simple thought, Nebula Mist surrounded him in a thin aura before it began to reform his attire.

As if it were now child’s play to him. Within moments, the stains and his clothing were gone and shown as brand new, as if he had never entered combat.

Avrin sat down opposite of Clovis, who was shaking his head while laughing at Avrin. “You have quite the handy magic. You should teach me some of that.” Avrin gave a soft laugh, and then looked to his side, seeing Kael offering him a bowl of meat stew.

Avrin took and thanked him, and soon Kael sat beside him and began to eat happily. “Master, that was incredible. How did you defeat the Draconian…?” Kael spoke curiously.

“Played to his weakness.” Avrin spoke with a sort of truth, as the lip area of the mask seemed to open up as the Nebula Mist slightly reshaped it, allowing Avrin to eat smoothly. Kael smiled and spoke again. “It must have been quite a weakness for you to get it in such a state.”

Avrin nodded. “Indeed. It's body was tougher than the other one. You should go take a look.” Kael frowned a little. “I would, but after you went to rest, it vanished in a portal of sorts.” Avrin blinked as he spoke “Oh? What about the hammer?”

Clovis grinned as he spoke out. “That hammer was something. It caused the beast girl to go into frenzy, as she snatched it before the portal could take the hammer too”

Avrin laughed quietly. “I see. Well, not much I can do then. I guess it's hers.” A soft voice spoke out in reply to Avrin’s words. “Oh, is that so? I'm sure it will ease Wyni’s worry than, knowing you don't want the hammer after defeating such a creature.”

Avrin turned to see Felia, who walked over, sitting beside Avrin as if expecting something from him. “The Draconian told me it's made from Unique metals. It gave me quite a problem. If anyone benefits from this dungeon so far, she is in the lead” Avrin uttered softly.

Felia grinned as she held a bowl of stew she had gotten before arriving here. “Indeed. Such a weapon would make people go crazy, but in her hands, I'm sure it will help us get through this dungeon.”

Avrin stopped eating for a moment, as he remembered the creature's words. ““-I was handpicked by the great one as the second greatest fighter next to Elder Brother!-”” Avrin frowned

“It's dangerous to venture further. Kael and I will be leaving once I recover completely…” He uttered out towards them, his worry was that he could not keep kael safe during a fight, where he would most likely need to go all out, placing kael as well as them in danger. he also had hoped this decision would influence felia to turn back as well.

so regarding avrins blue blood. when writing an mc from scratch you need to know that the mc will have faults. no matter how perfect he is he will have faults. writing an mc and making him grow more intelligent is a good way to develop him and show the readers that they were there when he wasn't as good as he is currently giving the feeling that he has matured in there eyes.

to avrin when he bleeds significantly it is then that he will worry about his blood spilling he doesn't really show much worry in small amounts. on the transport vessel he felt that was a one off thing because that mage was intelligent he doesn't think much about people around him at this stage who don't seem so intelligent at most he considers they would think his blood is some sort of technique.

but as things progress he will have to be more cautious as people ask him about it as well as recycling it as you saw in the current chapter.

Moving on.

avrin fighting the draconian. yes he could augment himself and demolish it. yes he could use astaroth and demolish it. but he understands if he uses these to make up for his lack of skill with raw power or a weapon that surpasses a god then how would he grow stronger himself?. just as he taught kael a life and death situation makes one stronger he is practicing what he preaches.

by using what he currently has without weapons or transforming he can grow stronger and gain that battle experience. dont forget avrin still lacks battle experience when it comes to opponents that equal himself all this time he had been fighting weaker opponents. i ask that some people who worry keep an open mind when it comes to the way i let him fight.
