------------
The women looked at Avrin and raised a brow. She was even more cautious than before since it didn’t seem like he had gold. “What could you offer that’s on the value of that much gold on you right now?” She spoke with quite a bit of intelligence. It seems she didn’t stress that sentence.
Avrin couldn’t help but give a soft laugh before reaching into his cloak and started to form a blue transparent diamond the size of pebble. The women saw a sort of glow in his hand and quickly backed away.
“A..Are you planning to attack me with magic!? I’ll have you know I know a bit myself!” She raised her hands, but before she had casted her own magic avrin took his hand out revealing a large beautiful diamond. If a blue moon existed, this would be what it looked like with transparency.
The woman, whose eyes showed resistance and combat readiness, focused on the beautiful jewel and her jaw nearly dropped as she stood there speechless. “I take it we have a deal?” Avrin spoke. He knew this diamond was worth at least 500+ gold coins.
He didnt want to overdo it, and figured something of this size was good. Otherwise he would figure someone might rob this women, and he didn’t feel like putting her in danger because he overdid it. Just another sign that his emotions had started to make him think better.
Then again, creating a diamond out of thin air wasn’t always the best idea. “D..Deal..Deal deal deal!!” She took the diamond in a heartbeat, and Avrin had watched her curiously. “It doesn’t seem like you plan to sell that?” She quickly shook her head and smiled. “It’s beautiful. I’ll keep this forever. Where did you get this from?”
Avrin could see she indeed loved it. As if a lover had given her a wedding ring. It made him a little iffy. He spoke as if to calm her down. “I found it in a dungeon“ He smiled softly even though she could barely see his face.
“Oh, an adventurer?“ a mischievous grin appears on her face. “I have seen many diamonds before, but never have I dreamt of owning one. I will add in something special considering you have given me something I dared not dream about”
The women disappeared into the back and returned just as quickly. In her hand, a thick book that seemed to have aged fairly well with time. It had a black fur covering it and the pages from here seemed to have aged to.
But in her hand was a smaller book, only ¼ the size of the main book, which Avrin suspected was the one he wanted to buy. As she approached, she gave him both. ”One introduction to magic darkness affinity” She handed it to him, only slightly showing some resistance, as if she was attached.
“Uhh.. And one special dark affinity spell book” She handed the small book to Avrin, which made a smile form on his lips. And he then spoke with a soft voice “Thank you. I’ll definitely make good use out of these” He indeed intended to.
She glanced at him again, and eyed him up and down. “Now that I look at you, I don’t really see many adventurers like you. You must be quite a high ranking one to have gotten that diamond”
Avrin spoke fairly quick to cover his tracks “You could say something like that” He didn’t intend to spend much time here, but as he turned around he remembered something and let his words out. “You wouldn’t happen to know anything about a port city near here do you?”
The women, eyeing her new jewel, blinked then smiled as she went over to a wall that had a map and pointed to a small village like dot. “You’re currently here in Wayfarer. If you head north you should find the port city of Rodes. 2 days on foot or 1 on horseback”
Avrin smiled and thanked the women again before making his way out. She waved goodbye to him before tending to the jewel and her store. “I didn’t think it would be so close. Then again, there are quite a few hills and small mountains blocking the view. I guess the ocean is beyond that”
He pondered this carefully before heading back to the restaurant as a smile appeared on his face. And as he neared it he saw a large burly man go flying and hit into a pile of barrels. Afterwards 2 more muscular men went flying and smacked into the first man who was just recovering.
“What the?..” Avrin was only confused for a moment before a large being clad in a black cloak appeared out of the restaurant and spoke with a ferocious beast like voice “Stupid human...Touching my gold… Gold is for my food!!!” None other than Asura.
Avrin shook his head and then rubbed his forehead “Obviously. Who else would be this violent. A picture of Ayame and Syrana appeared in his mind before shrugging it off and walking towards Asura.
“Causing a bit of trouble? What happened?” Avrin spoke to the angered creature who then turned to look at him, smiling before rubbing the back of its head over the hood that covered its face. “Ahh Master, these humans tried to steal the gold you gave me… Can I kill them”
Avrin quickly spoke “definitely not” Avrin replied. The last thing he needed was for him to become a target for the guards, but it seemed like it was too late.
A small group of guards clad in armor followed by another small group which seemed to be armored even better, as if they were headed to war, followed by a man with a black mustache and short black hair and a small eye patch with a short sword on his waist. He wore a more plate like armor with a golden tint.

What seemed to be the first leader of the group spoke out. He reminded Avrin of someone. The thought soon hit him, it was the snake like man who stole from the beggar! This could only be the captain.
“You there!! Why are you causing trouble here!! You damn hoodlums!” The captain gazed at both the 3 men as well as Asura and Avrin. The moment he walked up to Asura, he stood still as he felt a bit scared.
“Look at this big bastard…” The guard captain nervously spoke, but still tried to keep his composure. Asura on the other hand, felt a wave of anger. He reached over and quickly grabbed the guard captain by the neck, raising him with ease into the air.
“Who is a bastard you bastard….” He spoke in a sort of mocking tone before Avrin spoke. “Asura. Down. Now..” Asura gave a poutful growl even as the other guards surrounded, them with their swords pointing towards them, telling them to put him down. Asura ignored them “But Master...He-”
Avrin intervened. “It’s fine, just do as I say. I’ll handle it..” Avrin smiled before Asura dropped the man, who fell on his stomach and quickly retreated behind the guards who were surrounding them.
The guard captain rubbed his throat, gasping for air. “Y..You see that...He tried to kill me…” A small crowd gathered as they watched the commotion. “GET THEM!!” The angered guard captain spoke, to which Avrin raised his hand, emitting a sphere of nebula mist that had then exploded into several lines of mist and circled around the guards.
These mist chains then formed solid dark iron shackles and the guards then fell to the ground. Avrin softly whispered “Shadow chains are useful after all” He spoke to himself before speaking to the guard captain.
“I apologise for my partners actions, but as you can see he was just previously defending himself from those 3 who tried to steal our gold.” He spoke to his defence before the 3 men called him a liar.
All of a sudden several women as well as the owner of the restaurant appeared and started to defend Avrin and Asura. One woman spoke “Those 3 are indeed thieves!! I saw him with my own eyes reaching over to take a handful while Lord Asura was eating!!”
Avrin tilted his head and made a huh like sound as he looked at Asura. “Lord?..” The restaurant owner then spoke “I also heard and saw it. After they got caught they threatened my customer to hand over the gold or they would kill him”
The guard captain had no choice. He was pissed off at Asura but justice was justice, especially in front of the crowd and especially the group behind him. The man with an eye patch, gazing at the guard captain as if to see what he would do.
“Tsk...Arrest those 3..” He pointed at the 3 thieves and then a small group of guards converged and began to take them in as they screamed and shouted in protest.
The guard captain then grinned and pointed at Asura and Avrin. “And arrest those two for hurting the captain of the guard!” The remaining 4 converged on Avrin and Asura to the protest of the small crowd.
The man clad in the golden tinted armor stepped forward and called out. “That won’t be necessary. Justice has already been done.” The man walked over towards Avrin and Asura and smiled.
“I’ve seen many things in my life. Many mages and battle. But never have I seen a man hold another up so easily, as if he were a toy. And never have I seen such dark magic used in such a way before. Might I know the name of the other fine warrior?”
Avrin was silent for awhile. It seemed like he knew which one was Asura, so he spoke cautiously. “Avrin. And might I know yours?” It was only fair to ask the name of the other.
The old man then spoke with a smile “I am Vice General Gregson Edwards of Humanities 3rd army” Avrin was silent for a while. Humanity had 3 armies, that meant that there must be an incredible amount of people in those 3 armies. Then again, it was the 3rd army. Were there more? He thought to himself.
He then figured that being a vice general in one of 3 or more armies must be a high position, considering the amount of people. So Avrin spoke on thought. “It’s truly an honor, Sir Edwards” Avrin gave a small formal bow while Asura just stood still, looking at the man as if sizing him up.
Gregson chuckled at Asura’s immovable presence and spoke. “Thank you Avrin. Might I know where you two are travelling? Surely adventurers with such skill are headed for a mighty journey.”
Avrin shook his head “We are heading to the central continent. We are both from not very sociable clans so we want to know more of the world” Avrin mixed his words carefully to which Gregson gave a small menacing grin.
“Ahh, good, good. In fact, I was about to depart towards the port city of Rodes quite soon. I was passing by and decided to check how things were. Why don’t you join me? It can be quite expensive to buy a ticket, and considering we use a naval vessel we would gladly help such fine powerful adventurers.”
Avrin knew this man had a hidden agenda. He had the knowledge of several books as well as this world in his mind. He knew that the kingdoms fought for people with potential, and this man was part of a kingdom in humanity. He may be after them as soldiers.
Then again, Avrin shouldn’t really pass up such an offer. It would save effort. As for time, that would be an issue for him and Asura. At their speed, they would be where they needed in half a day if not less.
“Very well. I see it is more convenient” Avrin also figured it wouldn’t hurt to build up some connections to establish a bit of information gathering.
“Good, good!” Gregson smiled as he motioned for them to follow to which they did. Gregson immediately started as they headed off towards the north section of the city gate.
“So Sir Avrin, you must be the Enigmatic user my daughter was telling me about..”
