-----------------------------------

“You can't die yet...” The voice called before Avrin’s large figure was drawn back and thrown several hundred meters. The one who had thrown him with ease was Orphelium, who was next to the tear in space, seemingly unaffected but carefully examining it.

“The more I see your strength, the more I’m convinced letting you live will be a big mistake. No more games, Inheritor....” Orphelium vanished and appeared above Avrin, who clenched his teeth in this form before slashing the reformed Astaroth towards Orphelium in hopes of mimicking the effects, but at that moment, Orphelium’s lower half agilely avoided it and then slashed towards Avrin’s right arm.

Avrin felt his right arm cleanly cut off, which was holding Astaroth, making it float away slowly with his arm. Avrin didn’t want to use any dark matter against Orphelium. He was worried he would absorb it and take what he needed. Orphelium wasn’t done, though. It quickly used the tip of its tail to pierce Avrin’s stomach and chest several dozen times in a near instant,

Avrin was amazed at how easy it managed to do this. He simply wasn’t this creature’s match. All he could do was control himself and not let any blue blood or dark matter fall into its hands.

Avrin coughed out blood that was no longer blue, but red. His particles had long since gotten used to dispersing it before it left his body and not when it was out. “Heh....” Avrin began to pant heavily as he began to feel the energy within his body nearing its limits in healing his wounds. If things continued, then he assumed God would intervene and save him as part of the favor.

Orphelium had continued to attack Avrin and slowly torture him for several hours, but it seemed the creature was nearing its own limits in regards to its patience.

“When are you going to accept your fate....when are you going to give me WHAT I WANT!” Orphelium’s mana surged out. It was truly too tyrannical and smashed into Avrin. His augmented skin began to crack and split, almost like chitin and bone. His right side was no longer augmented, his original face was visible but he was dyed in his own blood. Even his hair was no longer its beautiful silvery white. His right arm was now a near dried stump and his left arm was mangled into a blood mess. Both his legs had been ripped off, and he had several holes in his body, but his vitality was incredibly strong.

Orphelium had to also hold back. He wasn’t sure exactly what triggered converting into a Spectral. He knew conversion cores were one way, but if he was to eat Avrin’s blood or Avrin himself, that could possibly be another.

“When....you go...go  die in a hole....” Avrin couldn’t even change facial expressions without a mass of pain numbing his face, but he couldn’t help but smirk as he watched Orphelium rage at his words.

Orphelium grabbed Avrin by his head and suddenly vanished, before reappearing within the fragments of moon that had been torn to shreds by his gigantic form. From there, he began to smash Avrin against the surface again and again. “Give me....A DARK CORE!!!”

A wave of strength rippled across the fragment, causing it to break apart, and when it did, Orphelium took the bloody Avrin to another and smashed him against that.

Orphelium was seething with anger and frustration. Avrin’s face was now covered in blood and he was quiet. He was naked too. Due to Sarcanus, his augmented form was now gone and broken, but dark matter began to converge and reshape. Avrin was still conscious, but weak. He willed Astaroth, which was drifting in space, to return, and when that was done, Avrin’s clothing began to reshape. Though Orphelium looked at Avrin with a bit of surprise.

“-This cretin has quite a bit of life left in him… Maybe I should rip his guts out… Huh, what’s that?-” Avrin had previously stored his enchanted bag in his inner workings, but because the particles of his body were used to placing it back when reforming his outfit, it had been taken out and placed onto his bloody body. Reforming the clothing was a mess, and it didn’t look anything like what Avrin usually wore. It was simply a matter of them not being strong enough to retain orders. Of course, this moment would be one Avrin would use for the future to be more cautious.

Orphelium reached down and snatched the enchanted sack. The bloody and on death’s door Avrin looked in a daze towards Orphelium. His eyes suddenly widened as he raised his near mashed up left hand to try and grab it.

Orphelium twisted his body, smacking his tail against Avrin causing him to shoot into a nearby meteor, making it nearly crack apart. “Don’t touch me...” Orphelium said before it opened the enchanted sack. It began to rummage through before it pulled out a handful of dark cores. When it looked at these, excitement filled it. “Seems like you were holding back on me!.” Orphelium turned to look at Avrin before it placed the dark cores back into the enchanted sack. The bag vanished after a a runic seal seemingly absorbed it.

“What’s your name, boy?” Orphelium was much more relaxed, but at the same time, the anger that it had saved up because of Avrin wasting its time was still present. Avrin didn’t answer, he carefully looked at Orphelium. He knew it had the dark cores. Dark matter began to surge around him, forming into void spheres, before shooting out towards Orphelium like bullets.

Orphelium, who was one-hundred meters away from Avrin looked casually at the barrage of attacks. It began to hover over. Whenever a void sphere neared him, they would burst into nothingness, as if Orphelium’s mana was too intense for them to be around.

“Still trying to fight, huh. You must be the most pitiful Inheritor of God’s Heart to have ever existed. You common pieces of dirt probably don’t know this, but there were more than just three Cosmic Entities alive, you know. There were actually five. Want to know what happened to two of them?”

Orphelium reached over and grabbed Avrin’s neck, pulling him out of the rubble formed by the moon fragments. Orphelium raised its free hand and in an instant, several thousand immeasurably detailed runes and symbols began to form like a ladder, one after another.

“The first Inheritor of God’s Heart happened. He killed two of them with no effort at all. I’m not sure why, but...you should know, looking at how weak and insignificant you are.... It boggles my mind when I think of that first Inheritor, who even causes me to tremble… Then when I look at you, who resembles a crippled bug...it’s strange really. But I guess it doesn’t matter. I’ll send you away with one of my strongest spells...”

Orphelium’s face darkened as his red eyes began to glow. The thousands upon thousands of runic symbols flew up and formed into a box, and inside that box was a sphere also made of these symbols. The symbols forming the sphere began to shine a deep green before exploding into a noxious looking gas. Then, the box engulfing the sphere suddenly quivered before the symbols that made it ignited into red flames.

The red, flame covered symbols collided with the sphere and in an instant, the solar system seemed to tremble slightly. A miniature star had been formed by Orphelium. It was condensed greatly until it was only fifty meters in diameter, but it gave off a red and green, fiery glow. One could see the mana and power contained in this was even more powerful than a thousand of years old sun, but this star gave off no heat. Instead, it caused the space around it to tremble and distort.

Avrin winced, as the light was blinding. He snickered as he looked at Orphelium. This fight, to him, had been a great learning experience. Although a miserably dumb mistake had failed him and allowed Orphelium to obtain dark cores, Avrin had learned that he needed to have this level of strength to mean something in this universe. In the future, when he finds Orphelium, the creature will most likely be a Cosmic Entity. He would need to be careful before finding it.

“You don’t seem worried?” Orphelium saw that Avrin was quiet and had a seemingly calm look. “Why should I be? The next time we meet, I’m going to skin you and make some clothes...” Avrin’s words were not sugarcoated or threatening, this was simply a truth he felt and said in a tone that made it seem as if it were set in stone. Orphelium felt his body quiver with a little fear for some odd reason, and it caused him to clench his teeth with annoyance before replying. “Nonsense....I’ll be picking up the fragment after even your ashes are burnt to nothingness.” Orphelium threw Avrin behind it, towards the large star it had formed.

Avrin shot towards it like a bullet, and the moment was just about to touch the star, he vanished. Though Orphelium turned around, it hadn’t seen Avrin vanish and it smirked, thinking he was inside the star.

“Once I become a Cosmic Entity, I’ll go back and tear that place apart...” Orphelium clicked his fingers. The star imploded, vanishing out of existence. Orphelium drew closer as he emitted his sense out to scan for the fragment.

Though a strange expression crossed its face. “Huh?... W..Where is it?...” Orphelium frowned and thought. “-The spell is capable of breaking a small hole dimensional hole...could the fragment have slipped in? Dammit!! I’ll just consider this my bad luck.... I’ll find another fragment in due time..-”

Little did Orphelium know that God had stepped in. Within the vastness of the fifth universe, there are many planets with life, some inhabited some not even discovered. It was a treasure trove to search and find planets with potentially remarkable resources and individuals.

A flash of light shined for only a moment within a small forest clearing, causing the trees to shake with the wind caused by the power of the light. When things settled down, a bloodied figure wearing a half formed black cloak was laid on the ground, unmoving. This was, of course, Avrin.

“Reminds me of that time Syrana almost killed me...” He casually spoke, knowing that a certain someone was there. “That’s true, though I guess this concludes that final, life saving favor I owe you, leaving you with one favor left. I assume you’re going to use it to heal yourself?”

Avrin thought for a moment before sighing softly. He knew that as close as he was to death’s door, if he didn’t cross that threshold then he would still recover. “You know, I realized something... Life is unfathomable. I will encounter many struggles on my path, I will meet enemies at every turn.... That being said, if I die, than those who put their trust in me may also perish soon after... Can you please take the dark core I formed from them all far away, somewhere I can still find them yet away from all harm, and let them live fulfilled lives until i return? I can’t have them around me at this stage. I will find them when I am certain in my ability to protect them. As things are now, we just aren’t ready to be found out by the universe. By the time I see them again, it shouldn’t be too long, but they should have also improved.”

God looked at Avrin and softly laughed. “Impressive, Avrin. But are you sure you want to do this? I’ll tell you that you will regret something.” Avrin looked at God and chuckled. “I regret a lot, but I can only do my best to fix my mistakes and learn. I’m sure it isn't something i cant fix..”

God shook his head before speaking. “Very well.“ With a a thought, the dark core formed by Seleria and its inhabitants appeared out in the open. Avrin couldn’t help but sigh in awe at how powerful God truly was. He could do anything he wanted. What was the purpose of it all? He pondered that maybe one day, if he has a chance to ask him again, he should take the chance to ask him about the meaning of life.

“With this, I will be off, Avrin. I won’t be watching you any longer, but I will leave you with a word of advice. Do not forget about your promises.” With that said, God vanished with the dark core. Avrin remained silent as he thought about what God said.

“Promises? What promises?” He had no idea what he meant by that, but for now, he put it out of his head as he found himself fall asleep. He was too exhausted to continue any longer and his healing progress would take a large amount of time. He didn't even have the strength to spread his Divine Sense out, but he had faith in God that he wouldn't take him from one danger and leave him with another.

As Avrin drifted off, he entered into a strange series of flashes. He saw clouds as far as the eye could see, and a sun shining down upon the clouds, giving a lovely view of relaxation. But when he looked up above this serene view, he saw that there was a part of space where no light or stars existed, as if it were a void with no life.

With the scene shifting to a different image, Avrin saw a robed man fighting his way across several battlefields with their images shifting and changing, yet it seemed as if he hadn’t moved an inch. He would fight with all sorts of people and creatures, and with each battlefield changing, the man’s black robe would change to armor which seemingly evolved in front of Avrin’s eyes, as if it was a herald that the robed man was growing stronger.

The image of the scene shifted again to the robed man facing several different opponents. One opponent seemed prideful and followed a code of honor and justice, while a different scene of him fighting a different opponent who seemed more attuned to going berserk and destruction. Yet Avrin had a feeling that these two opponents were enemies, but also friends of the robed man.

Stolen novel; please report.

The scene shifted again, showing an indiscernible female. This female hated the robed man, yet the robed man seemed to find himself strangely attached to her. Avrin watched as the robed man often tripped over himself to try and please this female that seemed to love only those close to her.

The scene changed to where the robed man did something and parted ways with this female, yet an image showed the female had gotten somewhat attached and was a bit reluctant to part with this individual.

The image changed again. Avrin was too dazed and drowsy to carefully analyse and even remain mentally stable and aware that he was dreaming, but the scene changed to that of millions of people. These people were dressed in strange armor, and all of them were as strong as Elder Deities. Avrin wanted to see and recognize these people, but he couldn't picture them well. He heard a voice calling out to these people. The voice seemed familiar, from someone he knew, but he couldn't recognize it correctly.

He tried to look up to see who was speaking, but he saw nearly a dozen individuals with strength nearing Supreme and Primordial Entities. Avrin quivered a little. If it was someone he knew, he imagined it to be Orphelium, but this was a loose thought because of his tiredness and he didn’t contemplate further.

The scene changed again, and he saw a series of flashes. A small cottage within a forest. He saw the robed man sitting on a chair with an aged person laying in bed, struggling for life. He couldn’t make out the face of this person, but the strength he felt from the robed figure was something he had felt once before. The figure he looked at gave him the feeling of dark matter and seemed as strong or even stronger than a Cosmic Entity.

Because of his daze, he simply felt this may be a past Inheritor of the dark matter heart. Maybe it was passing its memories on to him. The scene changed again. It shifted many times. A blurry faced man with exquisite armor was now holding a figure by the neck. Avrin could barely make out that this figure was the aged female that was laying in the bed yet she was blurry and he wasn't sure, though for some odd reason, his heart shook with anger. He wasn’t sure why, but he knew the old female was dead.

The scene again changed. Looking at this all, Avrin had never felt this afraid before. Not even when fighting Orphelium. He watched as the robed man held the aged females corpse. He was roaring out seemingly to all of existence, but Avrin couldn’t hear his voice. Surrounding him were the corpses of people of the Primordial level and one at the cosmic level that was also not discernible. In the distance, within the background and vastness of space, towering metallic spikes that seemed to be alive had  pierced into space seemingly opening up the dimension with their sharp points were now visible.

Avrin saw a conflict occur. It was three individuals fighting against those who seemed to hold grudges and were afraid of something. These three were the robed man and the two people that were his enemies yet also his friends. Their conflict continued, and in the end, the two friends yet enemies of the robed man died. Avrin couldn’t make out their identities clearly, but their deaths caused the robed man to go completely berserk. It was as if it were a trigger for him to achieve a new boost in power.

The scene was flashed again, as if it were zooming out. When it had zoomed out enough, Avrin saw a spike so absolute, so oppressive, that it had pierced through several hundreds of galaxies ripping them apart. Avrin had a strange feeling that these were connected to the robed figure. Avrin himself could no longer tell how strong that man was. He just felt that he was different somehow, yet the same.

The scene changed. It showed a strange figure. This figure resembled a sort of universal god in the shape of a Buddha yet this so called Buddha felt unfathomable to Avrin. The figures hands were raised and was cupping over the galaxy the robed man was located in. A voice roared out from a presence near the figure, as if it were directed towards the robed man.

“Damn you and your cursed regalia!!! Have you not killed ENOUGH!!” Avrin saw the robed man was not wearing  his strange black robe, but was adorned in his evolving armor. This armor was strange and different. Avrin felt that the only one who could rival its mystery would be God himself. Avrin saw how the robed man, now wearing armor, pulled out a weapon that was indiscernible. Avrin simply felt that this weapon was even more powerful than its wielder he felt the same feeling as if being near god, yet it seemed as if it were incomplete.

Yet it still gave him the feeling that God was connected to it somehow. The scene again changed. Avrin felt a strange sense of connection, but the more he watched, the more hazy things became. A new scene flashed, and the large figure that looked like a gigantic universal Buddha was cut in half, and strange spikes that seemed sharp enough that their points could pierce through dimensions were protruding from its body. Behind it, several dozens of galaxies were also split in half as if a weapon was used to split apart creation.

Avrin wondered what strength was needed to pull that off. He couldn't sense a familiar energy from the Buddha and had long since not been able to sense the armored man’s energy. He thought that maybe they were something even a step above a Cosmic Entity, but the thought passed quickly.

The scene flashed, and the robed man was staring at someone who seemed identical to him. He spoke in words that Avrin recognized, but the moment he recognized who it was, he also forgot who it was. As if his mind didn't want him to know. “How many have I killed, only to reach this truth. With you following their path, I will have a meaningful story to tell at her grave.” The voice of the black robed man spoke, as he was no longer equipped with his armor. His voice seemed strange and familiar yet Avrin wasn't sure how.

Again, the scene flashed. Avrin wasn't sure what he was seeing anymore. He was being drawn away from the galaxies at a speed so fast they became like grains of sand. He was drawn away, and in that instant, he saw a scene so strange it made him feel more surprised than meeting God for the first time.

He spotted a strange candle holder. On this candle holder were candles that looked like the average candle yet different. The candle holder itself was pure gold in color, with no real intricate designs. But the strange thing was, at the tip of these candles were not flames, but strange, spiraling vortexes with little small blips in them.

Avrin had zoomed out from one of these vortexes, but he wasn't sure what it meant. The candle holder had five candles with these vortexes, each one looking different than the last. Avrin began to feel hazy again, but he did notice that in the distance was another candle holder. He wasn’t sure if it had candles as well, but the scene flashed by again. He saw that the golden candle holder changed. One of the golden rods holding a candle had been cleanly cut off.

The candle that was on it had fallen, and it mimicked any other spilled candle with wax pouring out, but the vortex was no longer there. When Avrin saw this, he had a sense of dread within his heart. He felt the urge to turn around, but when he did, he spotted a robed figure sitting on a chair. His hands were in front of him, elbows on the table with his chin resting on his hands. Avrin saw that this man’s skin reflected the image of space and the galaxies as well as  universes, but unlike God’s, it was black and white in color.

Avrin realized this was the black robed man judging by his attire, but looking at him Avrin could see he looked oddly familiar still. Though Avrin suddenly felt his soul shiver with fright. It was enough to make him want to huddle up in a corner.. On the figure’s face, two masses of energy began to form and turn into eyes.

The figure spoke in a hoarse voice that seemed to echo within Avrin’s heart. “Don’t forget your promises.” The word promises echoed within Avrin as many more indiscernible images of pain, sorrow, rage and aggression filled his mind, the speed of which were so fast it made him plea mentally for whatever it was to stop.

A final image came across his mind. This image was the most frightening thing he would ever see. He saw emptiness. Everything was white, as if nothing was there, yet he saw the robed figure. His skin reflecting the universe making him looking as dignified as ever.

In the distance, he saw another figure. This one was all too familiar to him. This figure was God. At that moment, both God and this robed figure emitted strange energies and they both collided. Astonishingly, it seemed that this other figure, which Avrin decided to call God Two, was equal to God himself.

The scene changed again, shifting and turning. Avrin knew this was no normal dream. He didn’t know what was responsible for showing it to him, but he knew it wasn’t God, and he knew it wasn’t God Two, if he even existed.

The scene showed emptiness beyond emptiness. Avrin wasn’t sure how to describe it, but thinking and looking at it made him feel as if he were turning dumb. He saw God laid on the ground with cracks on his body. He saw him missing his right arm and left leg. He then saw God Two holding God in his arms. Tears were streaming down his face.

“.....Rules....must be followed......” These words were spoken from God’s consciousness. The second God let out a roar before he stabbed God with his weapon, the weapon was blurred to the point where Avrin couldn’t tell if it was something that looked beautiful or something plain. Avrin saw a flash of light and God’s form crumbled to reveal a figure behind the skin that reflected existence, but that energy was being absorbed into the weapon. Avrin heard God speak. These words made the second God emotional and strangely, despite not being able to hear them, it affected Avrin too.

Avrin again wasn’t sure why, but he felt a surge of emotion, as if he wanted to cry. But something was stopping him from doing so. This feeling annoyed and confused him further.

Again, the scene changed and shifted. He saw God Two revert to the form of the robed man and go somewhere. The scene again changed, and he saw this man looking down at a young girl that seemed familiar to Avrin but he couldn't tell who. Year after year passed, and he saw how the robed man made sure that this girl would live the best normal life she could. She would never suffer any hardships, and when she grew old and died and was reborn, he would will this process of her never suffering hardships to repeat.

The scene changed again. He saw the robed man moving behind a woman and slipping his arms around her, hugging her tightly against his chest. He saw how this woman was indiscernible, apart from the fact that she seemed pregnant. He saw the robed man slip his hands to her stomach, over the bulge. “Quite feisty. I felt that she kicked me. Just like her mother when we first met..” The robed man said.

Avrin then heard the female’s voice. It was strong yet soft, unforgiving yet forgiving. “Oh? Maybe her father needs another kick for spoiling her gender to me. Well, what do you want to name her hmm?”

Avrin saw the robed man think for a moment before speaking a name. “Could we name her.......” Avrin couldn’t hear the name, but he saw a tear run down the robed man’s cheek. Avrin couldn’t see his face, but he could see this tear. The tear was seen by the pregnant lady that was most likely his wife and she reached over to wipe it away. “I think it’s perfect.” the women spoke warmly.

Avrin felt a strange feeling. The pregnant woman and the scene faded into a black and white scene. He saw the robed man turn towards him. He changed from his attire to the evolving armor before pointing his finger towards Avrin. In the indiscernible armor, the man's face revealed the skin of both the first God as well as the second God. He suddenly spoke. “Memories!!. Your greatest strength. Do NOT forget your promises!!”

The man seemingly removed his fierce aura as he looked over towards Avrin before he spoke again, with a sense of fear and worry as well as incredible sorrow “Please....don't forget...”

Avrin wasn't sure why, but a strange, emotional feeling crept up over him. Right now, everything seemed peaceful. Right now, he was dreaming, but his eyes closed and he felt that he had fallen asleep within the dream. This was a rest he wished he could experience more often. Avrin had a strange feeling that this dream was a lie and also the truth. It was as if it gave him bits and pieces, yet changed them a moment after.

It also missed many parts of the robed man's life. It was as if it were urging Avrin to come to a conclusion, as if whatever it he wanted him to and would then force him to forget. Avrin knew that this was not the end and not the start. There was so much missing in between those images. There was love, there was pride and honor, there was friendship and forgiveness, there was regret and sorrow. So much regret and sorrow, despite Avrin feeling that there were only several points of those occurring.

Outside of Avrin’s dream, after he had truly fallen asleep, a young girl wearing a blue hood and cape with a simple yet dirty white dress was happily prancing about while picking up fruit and nuts that had fallen from some trees. She would also pick up the a ruined flower that seemed to have been stepped on.

“grandma always says that life must be treated with respect. Poor flowers just need someone to look after ‘em is all.” She gave a soft grin. The little girl had orange hair with freckles, yet her pupils were black with a red tint. She also had several scars and bruises on her face.

As she wandered about happily, she looked past a bush, noticing a bloodied figure lying on the ground.
