------------

Neriel knew the risks. Even if he was to attempt such a spell, he wasn’t sure if it would work considering the materials of the room were meant to hide mana traces. He didn’t know if that would affect the spell in some way.

He finished the main diagram of the magic circle that consisted of a one complete circle on the inside and a semi-circle on the outer left side; a somewhat half ring. He then began to draw a smaller circle linking the semi-circle and the full circle. This was a careful process. He had to make sure everything was done right.

He felt he was not as fast as he could be. Could it be because I’m nervous of the two sylphs? The thought annoyed him. Imagine! To be worried about creatures lesser then him. He didn’t hate the sylphs, but didn’t think they were better than him. The knowledge that they had weapons forged by the god Septim made him even more nervous.

He was around 97% complete with the circle. Twenty-four minutes had passed and things had become eerily quiet outside. He figured that the prison riot had all but been crushed.

“I need to hurry up. All I need to do now is channel my mana into it." He began to do so and the summoning link started to take place as the magic circle began to glow brightly. Unfortunately for him, he was about to taste pain quiet clearly.

In a moment, a figure appeared next to his side like a lightning bolt, catching him off guard. As if in slow motion, his head began to turn but not before the figure rammed its fist into his hip, sending him tumbling towards the wall and smashing into it leaving a clear impression of his form. He coughed out blood and gasped.

"Haha. You’re here earlier – sorry – later than I expected." The figure looked annoyed but was grinning savagely. It was the elven maiden, Syranna, brandishing her sigil bow Eclipse, which had allowed her powers to be modified to combat so she could take the angel off guard, otherwise it would have been incredibly hard for a sylph even as trained as her.

"I apologize about being late then. It seems someone let out the vile creatures and they had to be taken care of." A vein was popping on her forehead, as she knew it was Neriel who had done so. However, she was unaware that the incident had been an accident.

Neriel fell from the wall and caught himself in a pained kneeling position, one hand on his waist and emitting a white light. It was obvious the light was a healing spell, but he was sure he’d broken a couple of his ribs. So this is the power of a sigil. No..more so it is half the power of one, he thought. That is truly monstrous. There is no way I can defeat her I’ll have to improvise. He considered his options but it didn’t seem like Syranna wanted to wait for him as she drew back eclipse and aimed it.

"I can’t let you out of here alive, dear angel. It would risk the order and peace of my race."

Neriel glared at her. "Of your race? You sylph have been hiding something and keeping it away from us. I can feel that shield’s power. Whatever is inside it must be something important."

Syranna made a tsk sound with her mouth and drew the mana string that had formed on Eclipse. A mana bolt that was stronger than what she had used on Avrin began to take shape, but a voice called out to her. Myra. "Syranna! That’s enough! I’m sure violence can be turned into something reasonable." Syranna was sceptical.

Avrin had been nothing but bad luck. She wanted to deal with the angel and then, if she got the chance, go for Avrin next. "Myra, I can’t agree with you. He has seen it and it puts us at risk." She spoke calmly, but her face betrayed the tension that lay beneath the surface of her skin.

Myra sighed quietly. She didn’t have a counter argument. In fact, she was more inclined to battle the angel and capture him – but it would cause problems. Unfortunately, the talking had given Neriel time to use a master level magic called White Out.

Using this magic, he engulfed the entire room in a bright light that had come from a sphere of mana. It exploded immediately after it was formed, while they were distracted. Neriel rushed over to the magic circle but not before memorizing its location and shutting his eyes tightly.

As he reached the spot, squinting his eyes to confirm, he decided to try a different approach – a more dangerous one. He placed one hand on the etilith shield, which gave him a sort of mystical feeling, and then placed his other hand on the magic circle and began to use his body as a conduit draining the mana of the etilith shield. His body burned in protest.

His body was not built to hold such magic. Cracks formed on his skin and light flooded from his eyes and mouth, but he kept steady as the magic circle began to grow brighter than it would have if he had used his own magic. He hadn’t used this before because he wasn’t sure of the effects but he was in a dire strait and it was better than nothing.

While the white out spell slowly dispersed, Syranna was covering her eyes. Myra had used a quick mana shield that blocked the effect to a degree, but only enough to buy her a few seconds to realize that he was draining the etilith shield's mana for the obvious summoning circle she spotted.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

"Oh no!" Myra whispered. Having no choice, she raised Moonwing and used a shockwave to blow Neriel away from the circle. It was too little too late. The circle was engulfed in a dome of green and blue mana about three meters wide and four meters high.

Myra knew she had no time to waste and began to chant a powerful mana bolt to try and disperse the summoning. Of course, she knew she only had a few seconds. Neriel, on the other hand, was now unconscious several meters form the circle. Syranna, however, had recovered and had the same idea as Myra.

Myra was using a different approach. A large blue arrow began to form, emitting electricity. One of the many pros of Eclipse was it was able to use any of the elements as an arrow. In this case, electricity seemed like it would do well in damaging the summoning.

A large sphere of mana began to emit from the tip of Moonwing. It was a few feet in diameter before she released it with a large whooshing sound. At the same time, Syranna's arrow was let forth, making a piercing howl as both attacks were sent forth.

At that moment, a large presence of mana was felt within the circle and, as if understanding the situation from the two large attacks, the being from within slashed downwards from within the circle, sending a large mana shockwave outwards as both attacks collided. It distorted the mana flow in the air and emitted a light similar to white out. The energy flow reached the etilith shield which damaged it greatly, but it was still holding.

The being that had countered both sylph leaders’ attacked began to show himself. It was adorned in white robes, similar to an oriental Chinese outfit and large white wings which had some sort of armour at the bony area. The being had shoulder-length blonde hair and a circlet on his forehead with a deep crimson gem.

His light blue eyes would make any female fawn over him. He had a fair build that seemed a bit muscular, but athletic. He was roughly five foot, four inches and was wielding a large sword that had a dominating aura emitting from it. The gods themselves would crave such a weapon.

Neriel slowly looked up as he was moved by the shockwave and it woke him slightly. He weakly moved onto his hands and widened his eyes with a pleased feeling. "L...lord Abbadon." He couldn’t have been happier as Abbadon’s presence guaranteed he would survive.

Myra glared nervously as she was dealing with who she figured to be the single most powerful warrior on Seleria. Syranna began to sweat slightly and tightened her grip on Eclipse.

"Abbadon," Myra said, He gazed around and she saw a pained expression cross his face as he caught sight of the injured Neriel. What made it more frightening was that he was ignoring them. Could it be he hadn’t noticed yet or he simply didn’t see them as a threat?

"Neriel, are you ok?" Abbadon was clearly worried about his fellow angel.

"I’m fine, my lord. Please, look behind you. I’m sure you are aware, but that—" Before he could continue, Abbadon interrupted.

"From what I can see, you put yourself in a dangerous situation. I will have to decide your punishment later." Abbadon frowned, which made Neriel sulk quietly. He hadn’t expected to be lectured.

The lecture put Syranna somewhat at ease. "If you are done, we would appreciate it if you would leave and never return to this forest again." Anger laced through her words.

Abbadon turned and emitted a powerful presence at Myra and Syranna who felt it immediately and stepped back, brandishing their weapons again. "Moving on, it seems Neriel was right. Whatever this is behind me, it surely belongs to a deity.

Judging by the feeling of the mana, it is an object of lenaya." He sighed quietly. "Not only that, there is something inside of it which needs such a powerful object to either protect it or keep it sealed.

The magic around it is a vine spell that has been petrified, so I’m guessing you’ve sealed something in – something you don’t want out." Myra was shocked at the whole situation. Standing before her was a being to be reckoned with. His knowledge of magic and situations was unmatched.

"You also injured an angel – a harbinger of peace. I cannot let that go unpunished, even for sigil wielders." At this stage, both the sylph leaders knew this would end in a fight.

Myra faced Moonwing towards Abbadon. "It hasn’t been recorded that sigil wielders had faced off. Do you truly wish to make us fight when these weapons are for combatting dragons?" Myra tried to change his mind.

Abbadon gave a menacing smile and raised the strongest blade ever created, the great sword Twilight, and pointed it between Myra and Syranna, gesturing that he would take them both on. "A weapon is used to kill or protect. In this case, I will use mine to give judgement."
