-----------------------

Gazing at a lone particle that had a red color he found out that it was linked to another; it carefully seemed to emit a faint red light into that particle that would then slowly shift into that deep crimson color before heading off to another and fusing with it to form a stronger particle.

“-Perfect, although this process reminds me a little like programming. Other than this, it seems more willed. The particles themselves can't contain much information due to the energy storage being priority, but with this I can give a basic order. The order I need to give truly is simple-” Avrin was praising his ability to learn quickly.

Then again, for someone with a mind more advanced than a human’s, as well as his experience in analyzing things, it was made much easier. “-Let’s see. I'll be heading to see Gregson soon. I'll do it like this then. Each control particle takes a minute to form. I can't tamper with its structure but I hope maybe one day I'll be able to do so and create a particle with a larger information capacity to maintain my body’s needs even more so-”

Avrin was planning carefully, and had even named the crimson particle. One might see his intentions as weird and disgusting tampering with the body, but to Avrin, such a method could not lead negatively as long as he took his time and didn't rush things. Experience was also crucial, so for now he would have to use himself as an experiment.

His intentions were to take one of the Spectrals that were made and tamper with them, but he had long forgotten that. The very thought, with his current mindset and emotional state, irked him somewhat although if the person was someone who truly angered him, he would have no worry doing so.

But he would never try it on an individual who didn't deserve it. It may haunt him later, and for a being that lived for god knows how long, such a thing would be eternal torment. Having spent 4 more minutes, he had a total of 5 control particles prepared. Their structure was simple; red spheres that emanated a dark red light as they pulsed.

These control particles were issued with a simple task. Create a total of a few billion control particles then alert Avrin. With this, Avrin would then do the next step. He knew that these control particles needed at least 2 minutes, which is 1 minute longer than Avrin himself needed to create more of those C.Particles (Control Particle)

While he would do his own tasks, the C.Particles would also do their own tasks. For now, he had received a significant boost but wouldn't proceed further yet. When he had a billion C.Particles he would task half with fusing particles while the other half would recreate new ones.

Avrin felt if the balance was overly lost, it would be incredibly dangerous for him. He also didn't know what would happen if he had amassed too many type 2 particles. (Particles that are fused with another) Right now, in Avrin’s body, he had 3 types of particles. Type 1 particles being the normal that made his body. Type 2 particles which were 2 type 1 particles combined.

And the final Control particle which didn't have a type and could be considered the worker ant of the body that was maintaining things. Avrin knew creating type 2 particles at this point had a 30% chance of success, and they would need to be recreated using energy from his body.

Of course, at this moment, it had no real effect on him, but he knew that later on it may prove different. Standing up after breaking his meditation, he felt for his body without entering the meditative state.

He had been tampering with the particles for so long over the months that he could faintly feel the presence of the control particles. He also felt the birth of a type 2 particle. As faint as it was, it made Avrin smile.

“One day this will become a method I will have to think carefully if I am to share it with my people” Speaking as if he had already considered them his own. Slowly making his way out of the tunnel, he gazed back and looked around.

Avrin had felt a small attachment to this entire cave. It led to the discovery of a legendary ore it also made him lose an arm. It allowed him to meditate freely and the creatures also allowed him to create a breakthrough.

“Such a thing isn't needed, but alive or not, I thank you for being so hospitable” He gave a soft chuckle before heading off. Heading out of the tunnel, all the creatures of this cave had learned that Avrin was not to be trifled with as many had witnessed his power and his ruthlessness to attackers.

This made it eerily quiet. As if they didn't want to perish like the orc they had devoured. Having walked out towards the end of the tunnel, he saw the bright sun light and it made him squint a little, since he was in the cave for so long. His eyes needed only a moment to adjust.

Avrin hoped that someday, with control over his particles, he would be able to shift and change his body. Standing out wouldn't do him any good. Exiting the cave he took a deep breath of the air that entered his nostrils and stretched, before gazing up into the blue sky.

“--Asura how is Eitri?--” Avrin wasted no time using telepathy, “--Ahh, Master! The Dwarf looks good, good! Like us now, hahahaha--” Asura spoke, overjoyed. Avrin slowly began to walk towards the city of Altea's’ military quarters, taking his time while conversing with Asura.

“--Not his appearance, Is he awake?--” And Asura followed with his reply “--Yes, he woke up 2 weeks ago. Uhh, sorry Master, I forgot to contact you. Right now he is practicing his abilities--”

Avrin let a rare true smile adorn his lips.

Avrin was quiet, as he extended his divine sense as far as he could to see how far it would reach. Having picked up the familiar energy of the Spectrals as well as Erebus’, Eitri’s, and Asura’s in their respective locations. Avrin’s divine sense had a range of 50 kilometers, enough to get a good scan of the outer city as well as the area around. “--Eitri, good morning--” Avrin grinned to himself before several dozens of seconds passed by before Eitri spoke “--Is that you boy? Can you hear me? How does this telepathy shit work!?--”

Avrin laughed quietly “--I can hear you. You sound angry. Is everything ok?--” Avrin had a feeling that if he saw Eitri right now, he would see him glaring. “--You bastard... Do you know how much that hurt! I swear, next time I see you, I'll return the favor--” Avrin continued to smile while heading down the path as several military trade convoys passed him. But those were occasional.

The convoys themselves had supplies as well as equipment and also new recruits. “--I'll look forward to it. How does your body feel? Worth it?--” Eitri, who stayed quiet for a moment, replied “-Yeah yeah, it's good, but it still hurt. So this is what it's like anyway, huh? The big bastard Asura told me what we were. A Spectral huh….. I thought you were some enigmatic user but it turns out I was wrong.

Just what are you?--” Avrin kept silent as he watched a small battalion of soldiers march past him dressed in simple plate mail with the emblem of the empire. “--One day I'll tell you, for now, I need you to listen carefully and please pass this to Asura. Both of you are to head to...--”

From there, Avrin began to explain where Eitri and Asura were to head to, as well as a quick explanation on the church as well as who Erebus was and for him and Asura to get Erebus to share some knowledge of the sphere that Avrin gave him.

“--Huh... What about you? Are you not coming?--” Avrin shook his head even though Eitri wasn't in front of him. It was a habit of his, as telepathy was still somewhat new “--For now, it's best if I gain as much knowledge and experience as I can here.

I may even get useful connections. Besides, now that you are a Spectral, you can possibly make all the Infernium you need. I don't need to say how important it is, though I'll trust your judgment--”

Eitri, who was currently folding his arms while sitting down on a log, laughed out, which made Asura, who was training himself, turn to him, confused. “--Does that mean I'm your race’s personal blacksmith?--” Avrin quickly replied “--Not at all.

You are your race’s personal blacksmith now--” Mentioning the fact that no matter what, the same sort of blood and energy now ran through his veins. He was only dwarf by height, and even then, one day when Eitri would learn to control his form that may be a memory.

“--Well, putting it like that, you make me sound like a traitor. But fine, I guess it doesn't sound bad being able to work with legendary ores. I feel this will also help me become a greater blacksmith. One day I'll rub it in that damn council’s face--”

Avrin stopped for a moment as he was ending the conversation “-- Asura, Eitri, Erebus, I'm speaking to you three now. Make sure everything is in order. Eitri, I'll be relying on you to learn as much as you can and practice and teach the willing in blacksmithing.

Asura, other than me, you are the strongest warrior. Make sure to protect them and teach those who want to fight. And Erebus, for the converts, you are known and most trusted. You will act as leader--”

“--Of course Master, Fine, Yes My Lord--” the three spoke in unison. Avrin added on, still communicating “--Erebus, Asura and Eitri will explain things to you when they arrive. But when they do, I want you to prepare to leave the city in a safe way.

Do not bring attention to yourselves, and head north. If you need to rest as you travel that's fine. But remember, I'm only able to communicate within my divine sense’s reach. Once you cross it, you will all be on your own until it reaches you again--”

Erebus replied. “Of course Master, about the issue regarding reconverting. It seems it isn't possible…--” Avrin blinked and frowned as he sighed physically. “--I see. It's a shame. Regardless, I suppose a proper way is to be put in order. I took the time to think it over carefully. The system you have in place isn't appealing, so I’ve come up with a base for you to work on.

Because my intention is to establish an empire, then we will go using that system, but make it more open and available to those who receive it. Consider yourself ranked as King, currently the highest pinnacle of power for our race other than myself.

Under king it goes in order. Grand Prince, Prince, Archduke, Duke, Marquis, Earl, Baron or Baroness, Arch Knight, Knight, Squire, these titles should be based on several requirements. Mainly on how strong the individual is. If their potential is to become a Prince when they are a Squire, it does not mean you are to make them a Prince based on their potential.

Strength alone isn't what will help this empire grow. We also need smart thinkers and craftsmen. Those crafters who are capable may also be allowed into this system. But to hold confusion a simple solution is needed. Add the title Craft, such as Craft King or Craft Duke. Eitri, what I said before, consider you a Craft King. But that isn't to say you won't be able to train and improve your strength--”

Eitri’s voice resounded in the telepathy. “--Fine, it seems simple enough. Craft King it is. But what if there is someone who is a Craft King with the strength of a Knight or something--”

Avrin took a breath and nodded, by habit himself.

“Good question. People who are ranked can share a different rank. For instance, a Craft King may also be a King. Consider my title as Emperor, but I am not as good as you, Eitri. In smithing, my rank would be Craft Duke, for example. Emperor and Craft Duke, This way people who want to improve themselves will not find it such a waste. Eitri that being said if you would like I can change your title to Craft Emperor. There is no doubt that with your talent and methods, no one will surpass you--”

Eitri replied after a second of thinking. “--My title is fine. As long as I am able to improve myself, I have no issue. One day, there may be a better talent out there that it can be reserved for. Hahahaha, don't expect me to call you Emperor though--” Erebus made a “”Uuu wuu” grumbling sound before speaking “--Y...You dare speak to His Highness that way?!!” He already accepted the rankings.

Eitri replied back “--This man... Hey Avrin, don't tell me the rest of our so called race is like this loon?--” Avrin laughed to himself which made a passing group of knights look at him strangely as they wondered and whispered weird things about him.

“No. Erebus is loyal and his intentions are good. Erebus, don't worry about Eitri, its fine. He is a good friend and has helped me a lot--” Replying with acceptance, Erebus was quick to forget it. “--If you say so my Emperor--” Having already replaced the Lord title was quick for such a man.

“--Asura, your training should be going good. In the northern continent, although it's lawless and no one will judge our people as much, I feel it may be dangerous. Do not start fights and only protect our people--” Grumbling to himself Asura finally agreed “--Master. If no one picks on me and annoys me, it will be fine--”

Avrin spoke again to the three so that they both knew as a reminder. “--For the matter of blood purity, it is strictly forbidden for you three to convert. If you are to do so get someone who is on the level of a Squire. As for how you will measure this, I have felt how strong the priests are and feel that their level will be equal to that of a Squire’s.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

I do not want our race to be filled with ranked individuals who are not capable and strong, only those who deserve it. I will try to figure out a method to deal with the issue of purity. That being said, those who want to live their lives happily are free to do so.

But for now, I don't want anyone breaking away from us. They are to know that the world may persecute us as this is the truth--”

“--Truly wise, Your Highness. And with such a way for us to work things out, I thank you for your advice. We 3 will make sure to prepare things well for you. And I'll do my best to judge individuals based on their strength. This also means we 3 will need to do our best to keep ahead of the others--”

Avrin was glad someone capable was in charge. This would let him ease up and focus on his own improvement. He truly thought it was too early to start increasing the numbers of his race. He lacked the experience and information he would need to try his best to fix things, which is why he couldn't focus completely on his training as he had been worrying about such an issue.

To him, it wasn't a matter of leaving them to their own devices. If someone got their hands on that power and figured out how to twist it, with Avrin’s current power it would be difficult to stop anyone in a high position of power who may have the backings of a Sigil Wielder or a higher force. “--Asura, Eitri, make your way to Erebus.

You should all know how telepathy works, so use that to communicate once you are within the reach of each other's divine sense. Otherwise, Eitri knows the directions--”

With the two confirming Avrin’s words, the telepathic link for them went silent, leaving Erebus who spoke. “--My Lord, such people, why is it you allowed such weird individuals your pure blessing?--”

Avrin was quiet for a moment as he also pondered it. Asura’s circumstances were unique, and Eitri was based on a friendly encounter Avrin had a hunch would lead to great things. So he replied. “--This is the way destiny planned it out. And such a thing isn't bad. They are both as reliable as you--”

Erebus remained quiet than spoke again. “--I will use that to better myself. Be well, my Emperor--” And with that, Erebus dropped the link and Avrin looked up at the sky as he was alone. “I wonder if you predicted something like this would happen”

He spoke, motioning to God, who was obviously watching all his moves. But he got no reply, which didn't disappoint him. After all, to God, this was a form of entertainment. With his divine sense in place, Avrin had already learned the different and familiar feelings of an individual's mana.

Although it was the same source of power, it was like a fingerprint. All different but similar and having been with Gregson before, he was able to identify his presence among them in the military outpost connected to the city walls.

As Avrin advanced and grew stronger, all his abilities would strengthen, and with all the knowledge he gained by using them, the way he could do things also changed and improved.

Teleporting based on sight changed to teleporting based on the range of one's divine sense. This branched into being able to appear near someone with a mana source. The world itself was filled with mana, so Avrin was easily able to focus it out to the point where it was like it wasn't there at all for him.

His body seemingly disintegrated into black and purple particles that vanished in the wind before as seemingly fast as he had vanished from sight he just as quickly reappeared seeing Gregson sitting down at this desk gazing up at Avrin before nearly falling back in shock.

“M...My god...Teleportation, That's impossible!!” Avrin blinked several times as he looked around, seeing the door open as two guards raised their weapons at Avrin, also somewhat surprised that he was inside. “Lord Gregson an intruder!!” Everyone was quiet for several seconds before Gregson broke the ice.

“N...No, its fine, you can leave…” The guards looked at each other then Avrin, and slowly left and shut the door. “Next time I'll use the door...” Avrin spoke and Gregson laughed. “Good idea. But teleportation, Have you always had that? Why use it now?”

Avrin replied. “It's a new trick. Also, you seem to be looking well. Something good happen?” Gregson put a document away as well as the quill and ink he used for it. “Indeed. The empire gave the appropriate sums and more to the families who lost their loved ones in that ambush. And the perpetrator of it all is being tortured gruesomely. Also, the higher ups are taking care of the rest. The king enjoyed the goods. An almost perfect trip”

Avrin walked over and sat down on the chair in front of Gregson's desk. “That's good to hear. And as much as I’d like to hear things, it's time we discuss things about me.” Gregson raised a brow “What's the rush? Surely you're not having second thoughts?”

Shaking his head, Avrin replied. “Some things came up and made things a bit more random, so the future will continue to be uncertain. My commitment will never be solid, so this is a warning in advance. “

Gregson frowned and moved his elbows onto the table, cupping his hands as he eyed Avrin. “You're trying to say you don't want a permanent position, but something that can be changed at will?” Avrin nodded. “You are indeed smart, Lord Gregson. I want to know what openings are available for me that won't tie me down for years.”

Gregson was quiet for several moments and then stood up, walking to the windows and closing the curtains. He then went over to his desk and took out a folded document, handing it to Avrin.

Avrin, who was used to technical documents, wasted no time opening it and reading it. His brows under his mask furrowed.

“You can't be serious?” Gregson laughed quietly. “Avrin, surely being a bodyguard isn't so difficult? “ Avrin shook his head. “Not at all... The issue is the boy is 14 years of age and is in the military? When did this massive empire start hiring soldiers at such a young age?”

Gregson only laughed, as it seemed Avrin showed a bit of worry. “Let me give you more information on a few things, Lord Avrin. Firstly, I'm not sure of your connections, but please keep this confidential. This boy is the grandson of the Prince of Misfortune.

Avrin, the bloodline he holds is rough and picky. His family wants to reclaim their position in nobility as well as the throne. But no one takes them seriously. They know King Leo will never lose his position, for not only does he wield the Sigil Weapon of humanity, but that strength has shifted into his bloodline.

I'm sure you have heard the news of his son?” Avrin nodded. “So he thinks joining the army will make him stronger? Sounds like he is trying to please someone” Gregson frowned and leaned back on his seat. “As I have said, his family is picky.

And he, out of his siblings, isn't a so impressive talent. He is looked down upon. His older sister and brother are seen as great talents, he lives in their shadow. I know his father personally; he is a good friend of mine”

Avrin narrowed his eyes. “It sounds more like you're worried about this boy. You seem to even know the circumstances.” Gregson laughed nervously “Avrin. A child without the love of their parents will suffer.

I fear if this boy isn't looked after, he may do something not only to put himself in danger, but shame his family because of his dream of impressing his father. He is fragile and weak willed, but he is willing to try. This is why his father proposed this idea of sending him to the military”

Avrin folded his arms. “Some father. It sounds to me that he wanted to be rid of the black sheep.” Gregson chuckled. “Precisely, I often talk to this boy.

He is kind and hasn't done anything wrong. And you are someone of immeasurable talent, which is why maybe you can teach this boy a thing or two, keep him out of trouble. The fact that you want something temporary makes it better. What do you say Avrin? This boy will be in charge of a group of 40 knights. “

Avrin was tempted to rub his head. “Even in charge of the lives of so many individuals...” Gregson shook his head. “Don't worry. It is only because of his base nobility. Every noble, based on their rank, is given an amount of knights to command. He would only be tasked with scouting around. But if you accept this, I'm sure you may make use of these men and women. “

Avrin thought carefully. He was a general in his former life. He would be babysitting a noble who commanded a fairly large group of knights. His task was to look after him and teach him a thing or two. “What If this boy refuses to listen to me?” Gregson spoke. “I'll change the hierarchy. It should be simple. You would be in charge of the boy, but second in command of the knights. I'll even give you tasks that won't seem boring. I only request you look after him for 2 years until he enters the branch academy, and if you take a liking to him, you can go with him. Hahahaha”

Gregson laughed sarcastically, as if trying to get a reaction out of Avrin but the opposite was given. “I see. Well this may prove good for me. It doesn't sound so hard, Even allowing me entry into a branch academy. My only request is you allow me to pick my own missions. And free roam of the 5 continents and their islands.

Gregson froze up a little. “W...What, But...such a thing... Why?” Avrin replied softly. “I will be bored out of my mind, and I also want to improve myself. This boy’s intention is to get stronger. He won't get stronger if you assign us missions to kill the run of the mill naked goblin with a pot on its head. He has to see the world and the creatures that are fierce.”

“Avrin, teach him a bit, not show him the dangers of the world… The best I can do, based on your strength, is allowing you free roam of the islands around the Central Continent, as well as free roam of the continent itself.”

Avrin kept silent, giving a seated position that said he wasn't convinced. “Ahh, Avrin, do not feel wronged. The islands hold dangerous Natural Beasts…. There's a legend that there may be a few dragons sleeping on those islands. “

Pursing his lips, Avrin felt it was good. “Very well, my last condition is I won't be ordered by anyone. And I may leave any time as long as I get the boy to safety first.”

Gregson smiled and nodded. “Agreed, Now then, payment, How shall we settle this. “ Avrin stood up “I don't need any money.” Gregson laughed, not doubting that with Avrin’s strength he was rich, and being able to not pay him would benefit the army as well.

“If you wish, with this settled please rest here tonight. Tomorrow I'll have Kael sent here as well as the unit prepared. After that, you can pick a mission and be on your way after receiving a Link Stone”

(---------Authors Note---------)

lets start with the particles/matter.

avrins body is made up of dark matter particles that hold energy. he is able to convert particles into a different type that can manage other particles but doing so converts it completly and can only be given simple tasks for now.

the control particles are a sort of boss that orders the workers bieng the normal particles that make up his bieng.

avrin is careful as he is afraid that if he overdoes it and creates to many particles then he wont be able to hold the energy. especially since his main task is to fuse two particles toghether to make a stronger one the stronger particle is larger in mass aswell as energy i cant say more i dont want to spoil it.

the ranking system.

Emperor/Craft

King/Craft

Grand Prince, /Craft

Prince, /Craft

Archduke, /Craft

Duke, /Craft

Marquis, /Craft

Earl, /Craft

Baron or Baroness, /Craft

Arch Knight, /Craft

Knight, /Craft

Squire,/Craft

allthough this is the base system that avrin gave to erebus it works like this. spectral's are given free will aslong as they dont go into the outside world for now. those spectrals that want to assist and join as soldiers for the future will be given a rank based on there strength.

despite this avrins wish is that he wants to make his race strong and not weak as to survive. he considers a priest in the former ranking system to be at the level of a squire in this system meaning the lowest of the bunch. this way anyone can work there way up and it gives an incentive to train. i havent explained it much but there will be more i just cant spoil it.

spectrals who do not enjoy combat and want to focus on crafting things are also given a rank. such as Craft Squire. as opposed to just squire. this way it will help tell the difference. avrins reason for allowing the Emperor Rank to go to any spectral who achieves that level in the future is somewhat morale/personal.

i wont spoil it much so il put it here

Spoiler :

He doesent want to be tied down and rule over an empire after what he has experienced in his universe monarchys are hated. and even more.

avrins divine sense i pondered a bit and it was intended to be 100 kilometers but i felt that was to overpowered and he could bassically teleport all over the place so i made it 50 as his maximum while he is still and focused. ofcourse it will rise in the future as he grows stronger.

if i have left anything out please let me know. i dont want to speak to much otherwise sr wont be interesting if it is predictable :)
