Avrin was currently leaning against a tree for support. After having left the city, he found there were no suitable places to camp and had decided to just find an area with a small clearing. Focusing carefully to inspect his body, he felt his mind drift, as if it had transitioned.
In his view was a site that would make him grin had it not been for the fact that in this state he was unable to control his body. Thankfully he was still aware of the surroundings due to his Divine Sense, and leaving the space-like place his mind was in would only take an instant.
Carefully gazing around his body, the purple Type 1 particles had nearly vanished. Feeling around more, he could see that over 80% of his body’s being was now made up of black Type 2 particles that were double in size to Type 1s. Avrin was ecstatic. He had felt that during his travel, he was steadily getting stronger, and this was a joyous moment for him.
While 80% were Type 2 particles, 10% were still Type 1, while the remaining 10% were C.Particles. When Avrin had begun his meditation, in the beginning he had stopped doing useless body exercises such as pushups and sit ups. The only real physical training that he needed was to practice techniques.
Considering his body’s way of advancing, exercise no longer affected him, and would only be done by habit. When he first entered this world, his exercises would be considered somewhat effective, but due to his rapid growth, it was now useless.
Avrin had estimated his current strength to be nearly twice as strong as he was before. It wasn't a case of estimating, the feeling was quite close to twice his energy mass and strength as before. This caused him to wonder about the method of meditation.
“-Type 2 particles... I should consider their effectiveness. Each particle takes a few atoms of dark matter to create. I can't really see that in depth yet though.., hmm... This is confusing. If I remember right, an 80kg body would have an 8 with 27 zeroes. I'm not sure of my weight, but I'll round it off to 70, a 7 with 27 zeroes added. That's quite a long number. Then again, my body isn't made of atoms; it’s made of particles-”
Avrin quietly laughed; as such a thing would confuse even the greatest scientists in his universe. They would kill for a chance to dissect him. But if ever a chance appeared, he would be sure to dissect them instead.
“-If my body was made up of atoms, I can't really guess the number. Since my particles are larger than the average atom that makes up a human body, it makes it a lot easier to count them, not to mention that my particles have doubled in size.
If a Type 1 particle is twice the size of an atom, and a Type 2 particle consists of 2 Type 1s, it should be 4x the size of an atom. 7 with 27 zeroes, my body was made up of enough Type 1 particles to equal two humans. No wonder my strength is as large as it is. God surely doesn't play around when it comes to creation-”
Carefully examining more, he began to continue on in his mind. He wanted to be sure of as many facts as possible regarding his advancement. “-I'll take a guess and say by the end of this I'll have 3,500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 Type 2 particles, halving my body’s amount. Such a thing... I wish I took more classes in science; I only have some basic knowledge to go by.
Thankfully, as I advance, I can tap into some memories that I have forgotten. But how will my body cope if I continue to form? And I don't feel any real change other than strength from half the particles.
I'm truly worried that my body will break apart, but then again, maybe I'm worrying too much. These Type 2 particles are really something. 80% should be 2.8e+27 (I'm really sure if i did this calculation correctly maths isn't my strong suite so i'm expecting to be corrected)) Hmm 1% should be 3.5e+25, so for every 3.5+25 amount of Type 2 particles, my power exactly increases by 1%-”
Avrin quietly left his body’s inner workings and opened his eyes, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “-Does God plan on teaching me mathematics? Regardless, I'm more amazed that the C.Particles has done so much with this amount of time.
It seems the more they convert, the easier it becomes. No doubt before the day is over the remaining 10% should be converted. Although the boost should only be 90% considering the C.Particles take that 10%, a sacrifice that I'm willing to allow.
Creating a Type 3 particle should be interesting. I'm curious to see the next page of that book God melded with me. I doubt I can turn the page yet. I can't believe my estimation before was off-”
Avrin was referring to the fact that the first few particles he had created himself had the value of 10x while the C.Particles at most could double the strength of a lone particle. He hadn't noticed this until he had left his body’s inner workings.
“-Does this mean that the C.Particle isn't perfect?-” Avrin blinked as he remembered God's words. He softly spoke them without thinking “Depending on what you discover will be the fact that changes its speed. Heh, indeed, techniques that go 5x faster or 10x faster. If I was to do it myself, no doubt it's 10x the strength. But at the cost of speed, does he expect me to meditate until Seleria crumbles?”
Avrin looked up, it seemed he had spent a good amount of time tampering with the particles. Several hours had gone by. “In any case. Astaroth” He quietly called out, before the large Sky Metal scythe obediently appeared in Avrin’s hands.
He quietly felt around the scythe’s energy, melding his own energy with it, as if gauging strength. “I'll probably only be able to use 5% of this weapon’s power when this is over. Is this truly the difference between me and gods?”
Avrin quietly frowned. He was also using the weapon to gauge the strength between him and the gods of Seleria. Of course, he understood that the Sky Metal held the power of 2 gods, so in truth his strength should be 10% of the gods’ on Seleria, a thought which irked him. But he calmed himself down as he remembered something.
“Not bad for a being created only a handful of years ago” He grinned to himself before limiting Astaroth's power to 1%. He began to effortlessly swing it around as it screeched across the wind, causing the air to ripple as if it was trying to escape.
The unlucky tree he had used to lean against had a trunk girth of nearly 2 meters, but against Astaroth’s and Avrin’s might, the tree split in half from trunk to top, causing the natural giant to crash against the smaller nearby trees.
“The ranking system of this world is useless to me, considering Sigil wielders and dragons are my biggest worry until I get stronger. I should have only a bit of trouble with everyone else”
Quietly, Astaroth turned black before turning to ash and vanishing back into Avrin’s left eye. Avrin decided to practice his martial arts techniques. Doing so would ensure he didn't get sloppy in any respect.
As minutes turned to hours, night had come and nearly gone. By then, Avrin, after training for nearly the entire day, had returned and was allowed in. He was preparing to go eat before leaving, but as he entered, a crashing sound met his ears.
“Huh?” Turning to look at the source as the sun was rising, he spotted a young figure on his knees, sweating and exhausted. He wore a simple undershirt with his lower half adorned with armor.
“Kael.. He actually did that?” Avrin was shocked. His real intention wasn't so much as to teach Kael something other than patience, but it was to keep the boy away from him while he did his own things. Avrin felt a little bad, considering he expected him to give up. He didn't think the boy had the willpower and drive to actually do it.
Avrin walked over towards Kael, who was leaning against the stump. Several guards were watching with awe, giving a bit of respect to Kael, who had spent the entire day trying to cut it down.
His hands were numb and bloody from gripping the hilt of his sword. The blade itself was covered in the tree’s greenish sap, which was glowing slightly because of the mana. The blade was also dulled and blunted from the constant sloppy slashing.
“I can't...believe...I did it….” He began to huff with a proud expression on his face. “Indeed, neither can I. Well done” Avrin softly laughed as he walked to the side of the boy, gazing at the poor tree. No doubt it's owner would be in tears once he saw this scene.
“Lord Avrin?.. I did it! What now?” Avrin, after hearing the boy was eager for more, despite him being on the verge of collapsing, tugged on his heart a little. “-Maybe I have been too hard on him. There's no need for me to be as such, he only wants to get stronger.
I can't be harsh on one willing to grow-” Avrin smiled softly under his white mask. “Go wash up and get some sleep.” Kael blinked, wondering why he needed to. “But aren't we leaving soon?..” Avrin shook his head a bit. “It has been postponed for later, so for now, go rest”
In truth, they were intending to leave soon, but he decided to spoil the boy a bit and let him rest. Kael nodded and weakly walked off with the help of a male and female from his unit. Avrin turned to gaze at one of the nearby guards.
“At the Wing Eye tavern, there is an Elf known as Felia. Go tell her that Lord Avrin will meet her on the island and to leave me with directions” The guard blinked, then nodded, saluting Avrin before running off.
Avrin decided to walk towards the mansion, but he attracted the annoyed stares of the unit Kael was leading. No doubt they felt angry due to Avrin’s harsh method in teaching Kael. As Avrin entered the building, seeing servants and maids tend to their duties, Henreth came down the steps, adorned in his armor.
“Ah, Lord Avrin, it was troubling seeing Kael like that. I'm sure you have seen the stares of the unit?” Avrin nodded as he walked over, heading towards the makeshift dining hall that was set up for the unit.
“Indeed. If looks could kill, then I suppose I would be wounded“ Joking around as he made light of the situation, this made Henreth laugh softly. “Indeed. Some had tried to stop him, but he had told them he was fine. I came down after hearing a crashing sound, but who would have thought that after gazing out the window, I would see Kael’s success.”

Avrin gazed at Henreth as the two walked toward the dining area and took seats at one of the several tables. “If he doesn't have the willpower to train, then I won't bother teaching him anything, regardless of who asks me” Henreth was quiet for a few moments.
“I agree. You and Lord Kael should be leaving soon, correct?” Hearing Henreth’s question, Avrin shook his head. “I’ve postponed it.” As the maid brought an assortment of meat and fruits, the mouth section of Avrin’s mask retracted at the nebula mist that went to work under to shape it.
Avrin and Henreth began to eat from their respective trays before Henreth spoke. “Thank you, Lord Avrin, for thinking of Kael’s well being” Avrin stopped for a moment before he saw Henreth finish and leave.
“Perceptive one.” He quietly whispered to himself. He understood Henreth was thanking him for postponing, which allowed Kael to rest. Henreth’s intention in speaking with Avrin was to request Kael to rest.
Meanwhile, the guard Avrin had sent out was currently speaking to an Elven female who was sitting down, gazing at him. After his lips stopped moving, he gazed at the female, who seemed to be frowning.
Felia, as it turned out to be, pouted quietly. “That potion he bought yesterday… Does it have something to do with him postponing things? 10,000 G for a potion.. Just who is he to spend that sort of gold?” She mumbled quietly. Wyni, who was drinking some alcohol and seemed geared up to adventure out, saw her leader’s annoyed look.
“Felia, what's wrong?” She couldn't help but speak. Felia stood up and slammed her hand on the table, causing the plates and mugs to shake slightly, and even startle the nearby mercs. Even the guard jumped up slightly.
Felia turned to look at the guard before speaking. “Tell Lord Avrin we will meet him at the port of the Verge Island. We won't wait more than a day.” Turning to look at her men, she spoke “All of you, we’re heading out”
With all the mercs standing up, they began to shuffle through the door and make their way towards the port area, leaving traders and merchants curious to their location. As several hours passed by, Avrin was in the library that Helbin owned.
Reading a book of Rare quality that guided one in construction of warships, Avrin had already talked to the guard. He returned to tell him about Felia. “That went better than I thought.” He quietly mumbled to himself.
Before long, another hour had passed, and Henreth arrived to let Avrin know of good news. “Lord Avrin, the supplies are all prepared. Are you certain you are leaving now?”
Avrin closed the book, placing it on the table nearby before standing up. “The sooner the better. Is Kael awake?” Henreth nodded and replied. “He is. He should be waiting outside for you”
Both Avrin and Henreth began to walk down the hall, and it hadn't taken long before they both exited the building. In the corner of the garden area, Helbin was speaking to two men who were there to remove the now cut down tree. Helbin turned and shot a teary glare at Avrin, who in turn wanted to laugh.
“Lord Avrin!” Kael spoke out while he was seated atop the horse with a look of excitement in his eyes. He was surrounded by members of his unit, who were seemingly talking to make sure he looked after himself not putting much trust in Avrin.
“Kael, we will probably be gone for some time. I hope you handled your matters” Avrin spoke as he mounted his own horse with Henreth beside him. Each of the creatures had several packs and bags to their sides that were filled with rations and supplies.
“Lord Avrin, I had several potions prepared just in case, as well as dried rations and some extra medical supplies. Also, is there really no date for you to give me for your return?” Avrin gazed at Henreth once more and spoke “You worry too much. I'll be taking care of Kael, but you cannot baby him forever. He has to learn”
Henreth rubbed his head nervously and nodded with a stuttered laugh. After things had been prepared, both Avrin and Kael left, and had made their way down a side path that cut through all the traffic in the trade district.
Before long, they were face to face with a large transport vessel that seemed as mighty as a wave in a storm. “Lord Avrin, this is my first time leaving the Central Continent, what should I expect on the Verge Island?”
Kael excitedly spoke as they dismounted and had both their horses taken into the stable after their supplies were packed. “I'm not sure myself, as it will be my first time arriving on the island. But be on your guard, the islands themselves are dangerous. Use this as practice for the Twisting Lands”
Kael clenched his gauntlet covered fist and smiled with a fierce look. “All aboard! The ship departing for Verge Island is leaving in a few minutes! If you haven't packed your things, this is the last call!”
One of the sailors aboard the vessel called out. But by then, both Kael and Avrin were already waiting in a lavish room used for VIPs. Avrin was quite surprised at how much he could use the badge, but Kael explained that it was rare to find an establishment that did not respect high tier nobility.
With the sea being calm, the water distorted from the side of the ship as the anchor was taken up. The vessel itself was filled with eager adventurers, but Avrin didn't see Felia or her mercs anywhere. He guessed they had left earlier on another ship.
The ride to Verge Island lasted half a day. Kael, who eagerly went up, admired the view and the sea water. As he leaned against the edge of the ship, he attracted some attention. Several females gazed at him with puppy dog eyes at how cute he looked.
Of course, the gazes of their male partners made their faces twist with anger and annoyance. One of the large bulky individuals walked over to Kael and spoke “Hey boy…. You seem to think you're some hotshot noble…” The man spoke, guessing Kael was of nobility due to the emblems and his armor’s design.
Kael blinked confused at the man. “What do you mean?... Are you trying to pick a fight with me for no reason?” Kael guessed, since he hadn't done anything. This man had just come to berate him.
The man grinned, before several of the females walked over and yelled at the bulky man, with one speaking. “Leave him alone you stupid troll!” While another stepped between him and Kael and replied “Picking on children, what's wrong with you?”
Of course, the man’s anger began to surge, and before long, the males had joined him. With two sides arguing back and forth, the group of women seemingly on Kael’s side while the group of males itching to teach him a lesson on the other side.
Kael looked dumbfounded, as he was being held against the chest of a female adventurer who was cuddling him as if he were a stuffed animal, while two others were eyeing him with not so clean thoughts.
This scene caused the group of males to go into a rage as they unsheathed their weapons. At this stage, the females had gotten nervous and stood aside. They knew these were their friends, and didn't want to make things worse.
Before long, Kael was left on his own, glaring nervously at the group of 9 individuals, as he also unsheathed his sword. “You scum… How dare you raise your swords against me..” He called out.
The bulky man smirked with a mad look in his eye. “You think you're cute. To seduce our women… I'll cut up that face good….” As he charged forward, he and his comrades suddenly felt a large pressure on their bodies, before they were smashed down against the wooden deck.
The pressure was strong enough to keep them there, but also weak enough not to break things. Avrin, wearing a black robe and white mask, began to walk casually, as the adventurers were all forced greatly. The thin nebula mist was pressing on their bodies, restraining them.
The females felt their faces tighten up, as they, as well as their male counterparts, looked on with fear. “Cut his face up?....” Avrin walked over and knelt down beside the large male who incited it all. Avrin bent down and took one of the man’s daggers from his side.
He placed the dagger’s tip carefully across the man’s cheek, and pressed enough for it to draw blood. Avrin’s eyes began to glow from the mask’s eye sockets. This caused the adventurer to feel an incredible amount of fear, especially with Avrin’s actions.
“Why don’t I cut you up first?... Let's see how you like being picked on...“ Avrin had no tolerance for the strong bullying the weak. It was something that annoyed him greatly, especially since he had used his augmented hearing to keep an eye out on Kael. He had heard it all.
The reason for this was stupid, which annoyed him even more. “Lord Avrin, please have mercy on him…” Kael walked over and bowed on the man’s behalf. Avrin raised a brow and looked at Kael. “-This boy is too innocent… I wonder how long it will stay when he grows up-” Avrin stabbed the dagger into the deck of the ship, and half of the blade vanished into the wood.
The man, who was still being restrained, thanked and begged Kael for forgiveness. “T...Thank you, my Lord!...” Kael glared at him, and with a sharp kick, his boot landed in the man’s gut and he coughed heavily.
Kael then left with Avrin back down into the lavish section of the ship. Avrin walked over to one of the leather decorated seats and sat down as he picked up a book he had stolen before leaving Helbin’s mansion. “Kael, in this world, there are cruel people.
Giving them mercy is like a gamble, where the chance of them changing their ways is always low. They do their cruel methods and live their lives badly for many years. A gesture of mercy is only telling them that if they’re caught, they have a chance to escape punishment.
That bandit you stopped me from killing, no doubt he is being tortured and soon will be dead. Along with his men. That adventurer you stopped me from punishing, no doubt he will still pick on the weak without having a taste of his own medicine”
Kael stood quietly as he looked at Avrin, who gazed at the book. He felt his heart drop a little “Lord...A..Avrin, I'm sorry… I just…” Avrin looked up at him and chuckled quietly “There are many ways to become a better person.
Nobility is just a fancy word used for people who have money and benefits. They are not free from corruption. I know your family’s history. Your ancestor tried to eradicate the beast tribe slaves and many innocent lives were lost. Don't tell me justice runs in your veins or you want to uphold it.
Before you tell me that, attain power for yourself. And when you have that great power and uphold your view of justice, then I will see that I was incorrect about you.
Kael clenched his fists tightly, as he didn't know how to react. He was wondering if Avrin was taunting him or giving him advice. “T..Thank you, Lord Avrin. “ Kael turned and walked out of the room, somewhat slamming the door behind him.
“Kids in this world are too sensitive... “ Avrin grunted quietly as he remembered his own time in training. He had lost all his friends in the harsh training environment they went through. Their superiors would taunt them and hit them, trying to mold the orphans into something usable for the military.
Avrin himself wasn't one to be to overly happy with an individual. Although he cared for people being treated right, he wouldn't hesitate to make the proper sacrifice. Being easy on his teachings with Kael would only let the boy grow up without facing hardships or truth.
With time going on, Kael didn't return to the room. Instead, he went back to the top of the deck, and had gotten the attention of some of the females. Of course, the males didn't dare act, knowing he had a powerful protector, and only watched with teary eyes.
With the land mass of the Central Continent long gone, a new, smaller shape in the distance came closer and closer, before it became large enough to turn the ship into a small and meaningless dot. A voice called out as it resounded on the ship. “Prepare to dock on Verge Island!”
Avrin closed the book. As he had looked up Verge Island when he found a book regarding the islands near the Central Continent, he knew that Verge Island’s name came from the meaning that those who entered were always on the verge of death when returning.
