And so ends the Schnell Saga! What's that? Why is this story so different than the description we got from Lune all the way back in Volume 1? Well, surprise! That's the fun part - Lune was fed almost an entire diet of lies and biased retellings! Woohoo!
Alright, let me explain it more clearly. Basically, Olya tried to preserve the image of Shaid and Schnell as best he could, but people didn't want to pass down the tales of three idiots traveling the world, so he had to make them perfect to fit the narrative. He also had to mostly focus on the better aspects of their journeys, thus omitting mentions of the Sun God and other similar details. Once he finished writing this edited form of the story, he had it published and, as people usually do over a long span of time, the story was getting continuously changed bit by bit by editors and censors. This left the story in a state where the only true remnants were ones passed down orally, but even then a ton of families had different versions of it, and after a while even that was lost to time. Now, when Lune's mother bought Lune that Handbook, he only knew of the version he talked about, and so now that we as the readers know what the true tale is, I hope it gave you some more answers for all the whacky stuff that went on in the past.
This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work.
As you can tell, the world has barely changed in those one thousand years, only really starting to ramp things up when Issei showed up and helped Lune become the Famed Inventor. Soon after that, many technological advancements and breakthroughs finally signified a new era, causing an "Unexpected Change" yet again in the Universe Cycle, prompting the Gods to keep a close Eye on Lune. So what, is the true killer of Lune truly king Chant, or did the Gods have a say in that more than we were originally led to believe? I wonder...?
Oh, we might get to hear more about that in the near future. A lot of interesting things are awaiting us in these next few Volumes, so I can only hope that I can properly tell all the aspects of the story in an easily understandable way.
Volume 17 had showed us a ton, from how Shaid's Lair and Schnell's Archipelago had come to be, to more talk about the Gods and Heaven 2.0, then there's meeting the 6 Wonders up close and personal like never before, and finally - who the old man that instructed Issei back in Volume 5 was. To think it'd all come full circle... It's called the Vast World, but when you look at it like this, it really is pretty small, isn't it?
Anyways, that's all for now. I'm gonna take a short rest before creating the cover for Volume 18, which should come out tomorrow. Until next time, this is Mikan Akai signing out!
