Volume 13 is complete! What a journey, this time focusing on Meil's journey to a higher education... Not. He's really too smart for University it seems, but hey, he's studying up on the human psyche at least. Now that Lune's gone, he's really left with a small amount of friends, so he's trying his best to improve in that regard. Though I fail to see how killing a bunch of his peers would help him in that. Eh, I'm sure it'll all turn out good.
How are you liking this new way of storytelling? It's a lot more spontaneous, but I try and keep things as organized as possible. If it wasn't for that, you'd probably get a completely different storyline for Volume 13 than what you got. Basically, I remember being inspired by a lot of different stories which I mashed up into this one.
The slice of life school aspect was based mostly on the light novel "A Sister's All You Need", wherein the main cast hangs out and just enjoys friendly banter with one another as they all slowly grow in their own way.
The System and the whole Aguilar segment was inspired by works like "Death Note" and "Breaking Bad" (I know, one of these things is not like the other...). Basically, Meil was to play the role of the mastermind, going safe instead of taking risks, and carefully treading unknown territory until he figured everything out. Though, the comical part came when the mystery got outed as not being as deep as he originally thought, and not only that, but the antagonist, Aguilar, really wasn't as scary as Meil expected him to be.
The "conflict" part was divided into two, sort of, wherein the main conflict is Aguilar and the mystery behind his ability to control the System. An integral part of his and Meil's battle came when you realized that, in reality, Aguilar and his bunch really didn't deserve the fate Meil dealt them. I tried to model Aguilar and Heffer's friendship after Lune and Ed - just two bros with promising goals, however the main difference was that Aguilar and Heffer didn't meet everyone with open arms like Lune and Ed, leading to Meil considering them enemies. This is done also to showcase just how much Meil's loss of Lune meant to him, to the point where he loses all restraint and kills anyone and anything that just barely threatens his dear ones' safety. He's lost a lot, and he's not ready to lose any more.

The second "conflict", so to speak, is more so a prologue for Volume 14, as it'll continue well into there as well. That's right, I'm talking about the love drama. I really did come to respect romcom and romance authors even more after this, because they have to plan ahead and really be efficient in the story they're telling, because there's really no room for "padding things out". You gotta be efficient, concise, and most importantly, confident. Well, I say that, but actually I just really wanna write a love drama for a change, and I also really wanna write a school slice of life, but I don't wanna do any impulse moves and jeopardize Transcontinental, so I mixed all three into one. Call me whatever you want, it's my story, fight me.
That's basically everything about the afterword. You can check out my Twitter to see a sneak peek of who will be prominent in the next Volume, and/or subscribe to my Patreon. So, if you wanna support your favorite author, or just see him get a heart attack once the "Patrons" section goes from 0 to 1, the button that takes you there should be right under this chapter.
Thanks again for reading, this is Mikan Akai. Au revoir!
