Noir eventually brushed off the sharp words of the Fishman and was about to ask Leroy what was left on the ship, walking over the barrel he had settled on.
He didn't like the look on the captain's face, so maybe talking about the ship and getting some ideas might get his mind off of the impossibility of being able to find Kirk with the information they had...but another voice perked up.
"We.. can't tell you." Said a soft woman's voice. It came from a middle-aged Fishman this time, a bit off to the side. She just looked nervous and guilty.
"If we tell you anything.. we still just end up like him. You all will end up like him too if you don't get out of here." She... wasn't pretty. But she was sweet. The woman looked like a pudgy catfish, her face wide and oblong with an odd tint of greenish-grey. Her eyes were beady and her face was full of whiskers. Her hair was long and black, somehow coming down from her very fishy head.
"Please... just get out of here while you can. Get out of here and never... never consider that monster a friend ever again..." She was also extremely distasteful of the navigator, it seemed. Most of the civilians didn't like him, based on how they sorta flinched at the sound of his name.
"He is... getting what he deserves." She spoke quietly about that last part, holding her head down, before attempting to hurry off, not liking the eyes on her. At least the woman was moved to speak.
Kale tried again and stood up, this time managing to get to his feet without falling back down.
He put his hand against the bed to keep himself upright before stumbling over to the edge of the ship to see what was going on with Leroy. He saw Leroy and Noir talking to a couple fishpeople, weird looking folk. They berated Leroy and Noir for attempting to follow after Kirk. Maybe Kirk was a bad guy? Like a... kidnapper or something.
The thought of that annoyed Kale, but he did remember that it was Leroy who recruited Kirk and Leroy has a sharp eye for recruiting people so far.Like Jeanne and himself.
"Damned fishpeople... they're dancing around the subject." He said to himself, acknowledging how difficult the fishmen were being. He'd never seen fishmen before, and since he didn't know kirk was one, this was his first exposure. Luckily the term 'Fishpeople' wasn't said out of malice, nor was it a derogatory term.
Perhaps there was a reason, either Kirk was a bad guy or Kirk was involved with some bad people who no one wanted to piss off.
Meaning, either way, there was going to be a fight... and Kale didn't 'have any fucking swords'. Kale stayed on the ship, watching as Leroy became frustrated while he thought about what to do. Maybe Kale could come down and try talking to the people... no way, that would never work. He couldn't do anything really, if Leroy and the smooth-talker couldn't get these people to spill then what hope did the terrifying Bloody Ronin have at getting people to talk?

Jeanne sighed as she began finally tying off the boat to the docks. She would stay with the boat given Kale was having trouble even standing. So she stood at the dock, listening in on the Grouper and Catfish fishfolk as they talked about Kirk.
It almost made her blood boil with the amount of badmouthing they did about her compatriot, but she kept it together as she leaned on the small vessel.
"Something reeks here.", she grumbled as she looked off towards the fleeing catfish woman. "If he was just a thief stealing from us there was no reason for him to return my weapon or leave us something to get a new boat with.", she says as she rests her hand upon her cheek.
"Yeah. Somethings not right. But with no leads we can't really do anything unless we want to risk loosing our only tail here and searching another island...The note Kirk left mentioned that 'If I run away from him, I betray my entire race.' So there's someone else that's behind all this...Most likely on this island...But finding out wheres is the challenge." He spoke as he watched his fellow crew surround him.
It was an entire archipelago, surrounded by moist wetlands and coast. The person Kirk was referring to could be anywhere.
"What should we do captain? I don't trust our odds of finding him just staying here, but it would help not to rush in half cocked." Jeanne would say before looking back to Kale. "And someone has to stay with Mr Goldfish Memory, or he might just forget he's injured and try and do something stupid.", she said with a playful grin. Sure the situation was a bit dire, but maybe a joke or two would help keep everyone off edge. Especially since it seemed something a bit deeper was going on.
Noir stayed silent. He was starting to tap his foot impatiently.
He was getting annoyed by the lack of help and information they had. "We could always ask around... but we aren't sure who is bad or not around here. While I'm sure there has to be at least someone who would help us... we may get in trouble due to it." Noir looked further inland from the docks for a moment before rambling a bit more.
"Maybe we should explore the island a bit more... there might be something..." His voice trailed off as he lost himself to his own thoughts. He was fast and he was sure Leroy and Jeanne were too, they could try to search further... but that would just take up too much time. If only they could figure out where the hell Kirk was...
