Chapter 128: Healing

Chapter 128: Healing

Dezzi had his back to the person, so They had not realized that they had awoken until they spoke, Dezzi would start speaking without turning around yet “My name’s Kanin Dezzi, I’m gonna be your doctor today... Oh right! Do you happen to know your blood type?” They didn’t want to keep them talking, but They had to get that answer.

These wounds clearly had led to some severe blood loss, and without a transfusion most normal people would die. Dezzi would now turn towards Leroy, his piercing blue eyes focusing on the wounds... stitches were clearly necessary, but that would come later, for now They placed a couple devices next to Leroy’s bed, each one meant for a separate part of the process

"My Type? I like it when they got a big chest. And a nice ass- Lean guys too..." He began to cough as he laughed at his own crude joke. Clearly the fever was getting to him His coughing died down. "My Blood type is F..." He said as he shut his eyes for a moment

If They wasn’t currently trying to save this person’s life his jaw would have hit the floor from that joke. No sane person would make jokes in this situation. Ignoring that Dezzi would step over to his bag, opening the side pocket They pulled out two bags full of blood, both bags were labeled with a large F on them “Try not to speak too much, it could just make your wounds worse...” They would start setting the blood bags up on an IV stand, they had to make sure they were ready for later

He reached out a hand. Touching Dezzis gloved hand "Wait...Your mask...I want to see your face."

Dezzi was not expecting to hear that come from the injured man’s mouth after being told to wait... of all the things They had thought would come next that hadn’t even crossed his mind. They weren't sure what to do, of course this person seemed nice, but then again They couldn’t be sure how they would react to seeing his face.

Dezzi would decide to slowly lift his mask, stopping once it was resting on top of his head, making sure to keep his ears hidden underneath it. Underneath the mask was a relatively normal face, however it was seemingly... Fuzzy? And his mouth/nose looked more like that of an animal than of a human.

He smiled. Something that Dezzi wouldn't be used to seeing in reaction to their animalistic feature "Looks like you've got the face for the perfect doctor for the future king of the pirates...Shishishi~!" He said with such a warm and genuine smile that it couldn't be taken as any other way than pure. "How about after this. You come along with us. Join my crew. I think you'd be right at home..."

Dezzi’s surprise with this man just kept growing, first he asked to see their face, then he asked for them to join the crew? Just what kind of crew even was it anyways? They saw some flag up when they walked aboard, but they hadn’t paid much attention to it. Wait a minute... Did he just say future king of the pirates? Oslar said they were pirates. Right

“That’s a tempting offer, but I’ll have to think about it, after I make sure you’re healthy” they would then give a slight smile back to Leroy, how could they not with this man being genuinely kind. Dezzi would leave their mask up for now, it was a bit easier to breathe with his mask off, going back to his bag he would pull out a few bottles of pills, taking a pill out of two specific bottles. One was an anesthetic, while the other was a form of pain reliever. “I need you to take these real quickly, they will most likely put you to sleep after you swallow them.”

"Well. If you fix me up. I'll have a hard time think of any one else that could fit the part as my crews doctor" He said with quite the sense of Charisma as he smiled, Downing the two pills. And leaning his head back. He could feel the medicine work with in moment. And soon.

Minutes later, The Captain was out. Eyes blinking lazily.

"Phew." Dezzi sighed. Before reaching into their bag and setting up another drip, fluids for nutrients. It was clear the Captain was dehydrated from the days of not being able to eat or drink properly.

This was gonna be long, and intense. So they'd need to make sure he stayed under. At first glance, the Captain was about 5'11. And 160-ish pounds. Ketamine should work. Dose just enough to keep the Captain asleep. Perhaps another General Aesthetic would work. Dezzi quickly made the decision, and got a mask onto the Captain, letting the gas flow.

And that really put Leroy to sleep.

As soon as the Captain had fallen asleep Dezzi would get to work. Using surgical scissors to cut the bandages and get his clothes off.

Going from most to least dangerous wound, They would have to make sure there was no shrapnel left in any wound, afterwards They moved on to actually stopping the bleeding, both internal and external. While working on the injured man They was still thinking of the words from before, could this man actually mean it? That They wanted Dezzi to be his crew's doctor? Soon after Dezzi had managed to stop the bleeding, They would get to the more difficult things, starting with repairing his arms, getting them back to a slightly usable state, getting the bones back in shape, stitching any wounds closed and then putting them into casts so that the bones may heal

They would inject the IV needle above where They had set the casts so as to begin the blood transfusion, having stopped the bleeding earlier it was finally safe to do the transfusion. Next They would focus on the leg, and getting it into a cast of its own. The leg wasn’t quite as bad as the arms, however it was still a mess, seemingly having been hit by the same thing the arms were. Next came the ribs and abdomen, both were pretty badly damaged, however having stopped the blood loss earlier They was perfectly set up to repair them, it took him less time than it had for the arms, mainly because the foremost issue was how much They had been bleeding and the stitches that They needed. But finally, They was done.

The entire thing took close to 7 hours, most of which were spent on the arms and leg, but when it was done Leroy’s body was as healed as it could be currently. Dezzi would now put their mask back on fully, covering only their face while their elastic strap on the back held back their ears. Hood hiding the rest. Only left to wait for Leroy to awaken. While waiting They would tend to their tools, properly cleaning them and then getting them back into their bag.
