Chapter 103: The Island of Two Cities

Chapter 103: The Island of Two Cities

Noir was very glad that everyone seemed to enjoy what he made, grinning ear to ear. “If anyone needs more, I have some still left in the kitchen.”

“Oh, I think we are alright for the next island or so, my love!” Noir was just about to turn around and head back into the kitchen to get his own drink, having served the crew’s before his own, but froze and pipped up happily at Jeanne. Again, he was instantly giddy! His hands were clasped behind his back and he seemed awfully wiggly and pleased. Noir… had a habit of building random fantasy like stories in his heads about every woman he’s ever met where they were both madly in love with each other. Like love at first sight!

Jeanne just let out a relaxed sigh. Good. They wouldn't have to worry about that potential ailment for the moment. For now though. "You lot also be sure to stay hydrated. I don't want anyone passing out from heat stroke or dehydration." she says as she begins setting up her hookah. For her the heat stroke wouldn't be a problem, and given how humid it was she wasn't losing a lot of moisture from her Devil Fruit powers. So she took it upon herself to sorta keep an eye on the other four.

She could do her sketches and make her new rounds when the sun was down and it was cool enough that the group wasn't in danger of heatstroke. While she did watch over the group though she rattled off in her head things she might need from the next island. She was just about done with the schematics for a PSI, and thus range, upgrade for Architronito. She had the brass to do that too. She did want to make a sidearm, but she would need to start designing that entirely, and she probably didn't have enough metal for both...

Noir, now jazzed up by a single interaction with the single lady on board, he spun around on his heel and started to hurry right back to the kitchen. “Of course! Of course! I wouldn’t want to be unable to protect you!! What if there were danger! Hahahaaa!” He dipped back into the kitchen, on to planning their next meal.

"Yeah we don't want the scars we'll inevitably get reopen..." Leroy began

Leroy did, as always, gave a bit of a sarcastic response as he waved "Oh I'm sure I'll be fine~!"

“Don’t jinx it.” Kirk frowned at Leroy before going back to his garden. Being the man of superstition that he was, scurvy was bound to happen now! Well, it better not be him at least. Last thing he needed was the get sick of all things! “We should be close to the island, based on this heat, but I’m not entirely sure.”

"I mean it's been hot and cold since we've gotten into the Grand Line.", Jeanne says, scratching her chin. "Who knows what the weather at this first island will be like.", she says with a contemplative sigh. "But then again, with a name like Cactus Island maybe it is a hot place?"

Kále on the other hand, had fallen totally asleep.

"Ohhh! I see it!" Spoke Leroy as his shirt bellowed in hot air as the approached the island. The Island was adorned with large structures of what looked to be Gigantic Cacti spotted the large island. The island seemed relatively decently Sized, maybe a dozen kilometers across. The crew had been travelling for a about an hour after the Chef Noir had served drinks. The Island itself seemed to have a more reasonable temperature than the surrounding waters. Still very much a summer island

The Horizons Palm drifted down a river that split the Island into what seemed like two clearly distinct sections. One side of the Island seemed to be loud as many people ran the streets, and the other section seemed to seemed to be a bit more relaxed. Some seemed to be ordinary people, while others had weapons strapped to them, all in unique outfits that were distinct.

The rowdy side, was known as Whiskey. While the Other side, was known as Brandy.

"Let dock up there..." Leroy said with a bit of a smile, they should probably want to dock on the side that didn't have as much trouble.

Within a few minutes, the Horizons palm was docked with the Rest of the ships on Brandy side of Cactus Island. Leroy then Hopped off the side and began looking around "We can restock on what ever we need, maybe pick up some more breathable clothes, We could even stay the night here..."

The Captain turned around and spoke to Kirk "Didn't Dr. Livesey say that those log poses take time to shift to the next island?" He then looked up into the sky to see that the sun was starting to hang lower on the horizon, maybe around 5pm. It certainly was a good Idea for them to stay the night here. And go from there.

Kále had woke up from all of Leroy’s commotion. He hopped to his feet and picked up his shirt. It was a blue button up shirt with a collar. He left the buttons undone because it was so hot. He was still wearing his dark green trousers and black boots.

His hair was still tied up to keep it from getting too greasy from the sweat. He quickly followed Leroy off of the ship, looking around them as he did so. It was a desert island, sand everywhere and giant cacti off in the distance as big as mountains. A terrible island to come to after spending days in the scolding heat. As the ship sailed up, Kále did pay attention to the obvious split in the two towns. Like the one side was full of energy and people while the other was somber and quiet.

They had docked on Brandy Side, Kále wondered about the other side. So, without telling anyone he just wandered off. He meant to tell Leroy his idea about checking out the other side but he forgot about it by the time they pulled up and so he just walked away. He spotted a bridge that lead over to the other side and he took his chance.

‘Only time there’s a difference in mood this big between two towns is when one of ‘em is a front while the other is the truth.’ Kále thought to himself. Mirror Ball was much the same, behind the doors were miserable people while the streets were lined with smiles. So, Kále figured he’d check everything out and make sure nothing shady was going on.

"Yup, it's gonna take a bit. We will have to ask one of the locals how long it will take for it to change. Let's hope this place is decent." Kirk said as he hopped down onto the deck after the other two. He didn't look forward to the idea that they may be stuck on this island for a while, getting a fishy feeling about the quiet side of the island, but it can't be THAT bad of a place.
