Chapter 61: Lawn

"Where am I docking her, Captain?" Jeanne would ask with a sigh.

"Just pull up any where near the Palm." Leroy said with out even looking to the Markswoman.

In truth she wanted to reclaim the Palm first and foremost, but she had to trust whatever Leroy had in mind. Even if the last time she did that Kale was grievously injured and Kirk slipped from their sights. That letter kept rushing through her mind too. What was Kirk hiding from the rest of them that he couldn't let them help with? Who was he trying to save? Questions like this nagged at her mind for a few minutes as she guided the small vessel.

Noir eyed the people of the docks as they got closer, also noticing how they sorta stayed away from the Horizon's Palm.

In fact, the dock beside the ship was entirely empty. How odd... plus they were just staring at it too. Like Jeanne, that note wandered around his head a bit. How much trouble was this Kirk guy really in? It had taken a long time to get to this place, would there be enough time to help him?

It merely took another 30 minutes before they were fully docked at the island.

With a stir of energy, Leroy was the first to hop off of the boat.

His eyes scan the surroundings, looking at the people around them. Noticing that they were humans, and fishman living together.

Made sense that this was the place Kirk came from. He nodded his head to the rest of the people on the ship before running off to the palm, scooting past everyone that was looking at the ship

He quickly scaled the side of the Palm and burst into the galley "Kirk!" He was becoming frantic, his head on a swivel. It had been hours since he'd last seen him. He could be anywhere at this point. But the Palm was still here. He didn't even pay mind to the stairs, instead he vaulted over the railing and pushed open the door to the storage room.

"Kirk!" His eyes spotted that the chest was missing. And many other pieces of loose valuables were gone as well. In his mind things began piecing together. He was taking these valuables to give to a higher-up? A different Captain? No...That wasn't it

Maybe it was a debt he was repaying.

Noir soon followed after Leroy, glancing back at Kale with a bit of concern, but went on silently. Instead of running, he just shoved his hands into his pockets and followed Leroy's shouts for the navigator to at least follow him. At least the ship seemed to be safe, but it was unfortunate that Kirk wasn't there.

He didn't suspect that the man would be there, but there was hope. It had been a long time since Kirk had arrived, hadn't it?

Noir looked up at the ship from the dock as Leroy went through it, the smoke from his cigarette floating lazily up into the air. His face was plain and serious as he struggled to come up with theories about why Kirk was doing this.

Kale stayed seated after attempting to get up the first time. How pitiful, he couldn't even stand up and move now. He clenched his teeth in frustration. He heard as Leroy and Noir got off the ship and began yelling after Kirk. Kale knew there was going to be no answer, Kirk was most likely long gone by now, no way he would've stuck around. Especially since he knew Leroy was definitely going to follow him.

"Kirk!" Leroy suddenly yelled one more time before he was cut off by a sudden voice over the side of the ship

"He ain't here!" The voice sounded annoyed at the constant sound of someone calling for the Navigator

"You seen him?" Leroy leaned over the edge so fast that his hair covered his eyes for a moment.

"Yeah. I've seen him. And sorry to say, but you've been swindled, Pirate!"

A scowl came over Leroy face as he hopped over the ledge and looked up at the man. He was a fishmen. A grouper, giving him a distinct underbite. He also seemed to be old, his skin hung wrinkled against his face as he leaned on a cane and looked down slightly. Meeting the eyes of the captain.

"And how would you know that? Hm?" The Captain put his hands on his hips as he gave an annoyed look back to the man, tilting his head as he awaited his answer.

"That Boy's a thief. Always have. And always will be. Ever since he was young!" Said the man as he looked down at the Black Haired captain. Leroys face softened

"Oh yeah. Well, that doesn't change anything! He's my friend damnit! I need to know where he is!" His voice was beginning to raise as he spoke

The mans face began to get a look of fear. Fear of what would happen to him if he told the young man what had occurred. "Look. There's no helping him now. He's as good as dead. Now Please. Leave this place before you cause all of us even more trouble!"

Noirs eyes instantly went to the older Fishman as he shouted at Leroy like he was a kid on his lawn, causing havoc. His brow pinched together, similar to how Chef Ducasse did back at Rose Arbor. A thief, huh? Perfect for a pirate, he guessed, but ever since he was young?

The old man then turned and walked away from Leroy. Causing Leroy to swear under his breath.

Balling his fist as he looked around at the crowd.

"Will anyone tell me where he is!" He looked around at all the faces, and yet none of them spoke up. Too fearful of the man that ruled the island. Without a semblance of a trail. He couldn't risk sailing out to a different island. He just sat down on a barrel. With an almost defeated look on his face. His leg bounced incessantly as he thought about what he could do.
