Chapter 177: The Trail of Terror

Chapter 177: The Trail of Terror

The Revolters Cheered as they watched the Triumph and Return of the Pirate Swordsman. But there was no time to celebrate in full! They all got a hold of themselves and rushed through the rubble and into the pits of the mines. Curtana had laid waste to their numbers leaving only a couple dozen. But it was more than enough now that the roadblock of the Pure Gold agent was dispatched!

Rushing down sets of Stairs and Clattering onto a Catwalk, the Revolters gazed into the Mines.

The Pit seemed almost endless. Reaching Dozens upon Dozens of Meters down. The First thought they all had was ‘By the Protectors’ because in front of them, was the truth of what conditions their family members, loved ones, neighbors, and anyone else left behind in the city was relegated too.

Locked in Chains. Were the Emaciated figures of Men, Women, and Children. Anyone that had the ability to work, was currently all huddled around in groups, fear in their eyes as they stared up at the noise from the Catwalk. Once the Fighting had happened and one of the main chimneys collapsed, they did all that they could and huddled around one another. Those that were still in decent condition, if that could even be considered decent, were shielding the others with their arms

And for a moment, the Revolters could see the Sheer desolation and brutality that the Chyros Trading Company and Hornigold Rackham had subjected the people of Arabasta to.

But the Next, as soon as they realized who was up there. A glimmer of hope twinkled against their eyes.

“Marna!” Spoke a Man from within the Crowd of Slaves. A Gaunt, lanky man pushed and moved forward as his eyes caught the face of his lover, a Man within the Crowd “Ardin!” Yelled Marna, tossing his polearm to the side and running down the dozens of steps to embrace his partner.

It took Nearly an Hour. But within that time. Every single slave that was within the pits of the Doro Mine was freed and unbound from their chains. Some of the Freed Aluba Citizens were immediately reunited with Family and Loved ones that had been in the Squad of Revolters in their rescue. Others huddled around the camp, Blankets over their shoulders as they questioned what had happened. Only to be told that it was all thanks to The Red Sash Pirate First Mate.

Kále was Currently roughly bandaged up by none other than Arquette Jeanne, whom had made her way to the scene while the Revolters were deep within the mines. And once they were out, she explained that it was her who shut down the Array, to the Celebration of the Revolters. She was happy to see that Kále was still alive, and as usual, worse for wear. Kále was still unconscious though. His wounds and energy had been completely spent in his fight. “It’s not as good as Dezzi’s handiwork. But it’ll keep you alive.” She muttered to herself, she too was on the cusp of sleep

“Once you wake up. We gotta go find the Others…”

Dezzi, Kirk, and Noir had been running for a good 5 minutes, tracing their way through the Southeast section of the city! Up to this point, they’d seemingly avoided much of the action from the war, much of what they saw was merely the end of fighting, a trail of destruction by something. Or someone. There had to be at least two dozen Revolters strewn across the ground, many killed Chyros Agents, but everyone seemed to be down on the ground.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

The buildings around them seemed to get worse and worse as they followed this path. Some had a few cracks and scorch marks and pot marks. But the sight of destroyed walls cracked foundations, and cratered streets became the new norm quickly!

The Three turned around the corner and came face to face with the cause of this wake of terror!

In the middle of a large courtyard in front of a multi-story building, Was a large rotund man. He had to be at least almost seven feet tall. He had a short face and long hair that curled through its entire length. He wore leather boots that were tight around his muscular legs, He wore shorts with large pockets on them, a grey shirt with a graphic across its surface of the Chyros Trading Company Logo, with a dark green pouch vest over top. And finally, hanging down his back was a cotton hat.

The large man huffed a sigh, dragging the corpse of one of the Revolters, bloodied and disemboweled onto a pile of dead revolters. On his other hand, was a large spiked rake that was covered in blood. But he still didn’t seem to notice the three that had approached

Kirk came to a stop when seeing the man and quickly put a hand out in front of the other two. He waved them over silently and ducked behind one of the walls that were still standing.

“Alright,” Kirk started, whispering to them. He was personally looking a bit freaked out yet determined at the same time. “This is… clearly one of the ‘Pure Gold’ Agents, but there only seems to be one of him.”

“I think the best thing to do is send Noir of to those shipping docs.” The navigator looked to the cook who grimaced a bit. He started to open his mouth but Kirk cut him off. “Me and Dezzi will be fine. You have to get to the shipping docks as soon as possible, and you’ll get there a lot faster without us dragging you behind either. We’ll figure out a way to see if we can surprise this guy.”

Noir frowned a little bit, not too pleased about having to leave these two to fight alone, but eventually he nodded. “Alright… please, stay safe.” He slowly peaked around the edge of the wall, checking to make sure the agent was still busy, and started to head around the destruction towards the shipping docks quietly, but kept up a good pace.

Kirk watched Noir hurry off before looking at Dezzi, trying to put in a brave smile. He wasn’t sure how nervous the other would be about fighting, so he had to make sure he was ok. “Ok, I say we could slip around towards the back to see if we can get him from behind or something since we don’t exactly know how he did all of… this… I’m guessing a devil fruit of some kind. Any better ideas?”
