A few short moments later Geeve stopped the group outside of a large building. It was made of sandstone and had intricate carvings, but didn't seem to really be a place of royalty like a castle or the sort. The thing that gave away its importance was the group of guards in front of the archway, which had a silk sheet draping from both sides to act like a door, that lead to the interior. The Guards weren't adorned in any significant armor.
They wore Golden bracers on their forearms, abdomens, and shins. Which kept exposed deeply tanned skin. They wore gilded leather neckwear that wrapped fully around their necks and covered a decent portion of their clavicles. What was not covered they had covered with linen. Their heads were adorned with in similar ways as many people in a linen headdress. Finally, they had Kopesh's at their hips, which each on either side of the entryway gripped with their hand as the group approached.
"They're with me" Geeve spoke, lifting a hand to put the guards at ease. The two that stood in front of the entrance stepped aside, allowing the group in. Geeve spoke as he moved the silk out of the way for the rest of the crew to walk in after him. "Don't mind the Medjay. They're hardened warriors in service to this country. Meant to keep the peace." Leroy had a Gawking look as he passed them. Admiring their swords and outfit. "Coool~"
The Crew was immediately hit with a cool breeze indoors. Even with the sun so close next to the open-air entryway. The inside was a pleasantly cool temperature. The interior was well furnished with lavish furniture. The Medjay were also in the corners of the room as well. Looking it over. Two standing at the far end between two large doors.
"Please. Make yourselves comfortable here while I go talk to the King. It will take some time but please, relax." With that. Geeve approached the two doors at the far end, and they opened the door for him. Not much could be seen on the other side, Geeve blocking the way. But Leroy tried his best to peek over while standing on his tiptoes before the doors shut.
Leroy didn't need to be given a reason not to relax! He slumped onto one of the large couches. Sinking into the extremely soft fabric and immediately kicked his feet up onto the table. Jeanne then sat down on the couch next to him. Her shoulders slumped as stretched her toes "Finally..."
Kale plopped himself down on the couch opposite Leroy and Jeanne, his feet also immediately meeting the surface of the table. He was still thinking about those guards outside, wondering how strong they were. Especially with those weird-looking swords. Taking a glance around the room, the luxurious furnishings present were completely lost on Kale.
He couldn't understand who the hell would waste so much money on fancy couches and tables. Another look around the room and Kale noticed something very important... "Didn't that guy say there was gonna be food and drink here? I'm not seeing any food or drink around here."
“Be patient.” Noir said quickly to Kale, trying to remind him of his manners. “I’m sure when everything gets settled, they’ll gift us those things. Don’t go yammering on about getting stuff.” The cook wrinkled his nose. Obviously, based on how Geeve was talking about the place, the kingdom was in a hard place and probably couldn’t spare many resources or materials.
Just looking at people throughout the markets as they came here gave off the impression that this place was running dry. Unlike the others, a bit more wary and still unsure of this whole king thing.. he stayed standing and upright, folding his arms while narrowing his eyes.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Kirk plopped down on the couches as well, putting his arms up and behind his head to let the cool air run over him. Finally, some cool air! “Well, this place does seem pretty lavish… I wonder how extensive this place really is.” He had noticed the golden cuffs and clasps on their body, getting him even more excited for the potential money they could get out of this. “Maybe if we have time, we can ask this King about the Marshal.”
Soon later a group of servant dressed ellegantly came from a different room near the corner of the far side of the room where Geeve had entered. the Platters were filled with food, the tea they served was hot. Kebabs, veggie dishes, a large flask of water to pour fresh water. "Oooo!" Leroy said as he bent forward and looked at the food with a tongue hanging out of his mouth "Oh! Well look at that!" Said Jeanne as she sat forward and poured a small glass of tea, sipping it lightly
"Finally. I'm starving." Kale began to tuck into the food that was brought to them. He took one of the Kebabs, with various pieces of chicken, onions, and peppers on it. He took a few bites before stopping. He took a look around the room, noticing all the fancy furniture and decorations, he turned back to the group with a confused look on his face. "Where the hell are we? How did we get here?" He stopped eating his kebab, he'd probably already forgotten it was in his hands.
Leroy Slapped his Knee as he began to laugh with his mouth full of food
“We’re waiting for the king, just chill out and keep eating.” Kirk said bluntly, frowning at his lack of memory. Dezzi was absolutely gonna have to check up on that at some point, it was worrying. The navigator was very pleased with the nonmeat meals, having been worrying that he was going to have to deal with picking through it rudely just so he wouldn’t have to deal with that texture, so he quickly grabbed himself a plate and some water.
Noir inspected the meals a bit, immediately getting some ideas of what to make back at the ship based on what everyone was grabbing. He picked up his own kebab to try it out and see if he could place any of the seasonings they put on it, but he generally wasn’t too hungry. Tea would be nice too.
Dezzi would grab a cup of tea and start drinking, as well as a few fruit, they had to move their mask in a weird way to be able to actually drink the tea while still keeping their face hidden “This tea is delicious…”
"I know right!" Said Jeanne as she diligently sipped from the cup. Her hood was now down to let the breeze flow through her pompadour
The following thirty minutes seemed to flow by like molasses. Leroy had gotten through the food in no time. It was nice for the crew to be able to take a load off from the intense heat. While those like Noir and Kirk could sit still and wait patiently. Leroy was constantly bouncing his leg, or getting up and staring the guards down, trying to get them to break. At one point he'd even gotten one of the Medjay to play a round of rock, paper scissors! "He really can't sit still can he?"
Said Jeanne as she tried to keep her own hands busy. The doors at the far end of the room suddenly opened, the Medjay guarding the entrance stepped aside and allowed for the familiar finely dressed butler Geeve to walk into the waiting room. That silk white and blue handkerchief wiping the non-existent sweat from his brow as he spoke "Okay. Everyone. The King is ready for you." With a hop, Leroy spun around and walked over to Geeve, a subdued look of excitement on his face
"Alright!" Jeanne took after her Captain put both hands on her chair before hoisting herself up. "Let's see what this whole things about."
