"What?! Did you lose or something?! Are the Marines after us?!"
Why was he even grouping the two of them together?! Well, he did help free the island... that's probably why he said 'we'.
He stood right on up, first going to the anchor to pull it up onto the ship with surprising strength before rushing over into the small cabin area of the ship and heading over to the control panel. It only took him a few moments from looking over the levers and buttons to figure out where to go next.
Fortunately, the keys were still in this bad boy.
Kirk grinned down at the coincidence, flicked the ship on, and reached for a lever that strictly went up and down. Looking over his shoulder as he made sure he didn't ram back into the dock, he started to back out of the space they were in, turning the wheel properly so they could turn around and go.
It was like he had been doing this since he was a baby. Kirk definitely knew how to sail, that was easy to tell.
The main thing he was worried about was how far this thing could go before running out of fuel. They'd have to get a longer-lasting and cheaper ship than this one somewhere.
...also another thing was figuring out how the hell to get out of this place with the storm above them. Based on the directions the clouds were going... Kirk could figure out what direction was what at least, but he had no idea what island was close.
As soon as they got turned around and were somewhat smooth sailing, Kirk shot a worried glare at Leroy.
"Oh stop all of that laughing! Tell me what's going on! What happened?!"
"Marines...Uhhh. Probably? But Iron Boots sitting under about 50 feet of rubble or how ever much."
With a simple sentence. It was confirmed that leroy, was indeed some sort of freak of nature, and had brought down the entire building
And yet, he wasn't sweating. He'd already finished that. Just how...Strong was he?!
"Turns out a coup had been in the works.. But they were too cowardly to do anything. But since this whole thing can be reported as a lose for Iron boot the marines will actually take action and charge him for his crimes as opposed to being more than willing."
"So We can go scot free! But I punched one of them and made a run for it after they told me I was free to go Shishishi~" He let out that distinct chuckle as he messed with the cut fabric In his hand. Making a loose knot and tying the two pieces together. "But I'm sure once we're gone we'll be fine. They'll be grateful."
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
His smile faltered for a second as he spoke "But the Island will still be under the Control of marines...So who knows if they're actually the type to believe justice or whatever..."
As the Boat pulled out. He could see that the marines had made it to the dock. The Citizens letting out small cheers as the Sun finally started to shine!
"Sir he stole the fuckin' Boat!"
"Yeah I see that!"
"Well what do we do!"
"Leave 'em be...They needed to get out of here anyway. Lets get a wire to HQ, and report this all."
They were too far away by that point to have heard anything else after it.
But now, Leroy had seemingly gotten himself a companion and first crew mate. And now the open waters awaited. Free of storm
Well, that was certainly a ride.
Kirk was just now fully processing what has just happened. While sitting back in one of the seats in the small cabin of the ship, looking out of the window at the open sea with a hand supporting his head with his elbow propped up on his knee, he had been thinking over the event.
It had come to him pretty quickly after they left that he didn't get to steal a lick of treasure from that damned place. A scowl crossed his face as he thought about it again.
Kirk had been eyeing that chest Leroy had brought along with him for a while though. Having been caught up in the rain and fleeing and yada yada yada, the Fishman hadn't noticed it until recently.
...It would be pretty useful to ask some questions. He was gonna be floating around till the next island with a complete stranger who seemed ungodly powerful for no good reason... soooo he should probably get to know the kid.
With a grunt and a stretch, Kirk stood up and slipped out of the cabin, glancing around the deck.
"Leroy? You awake?"
As soon as he spotted the pirate, he went over and leaned against the edge of the ship near him, crossing his arms over his chest while glancing back towards the ocean again.
Oh, how THANKFUL he was to not be completely drenched still. He looked a lot better with his hair dry and messily perfect. Kirk was getting sick of not looking good, almost was embarrassing to him.
"I wanna talk."
Leroy on the other hand was was soaked. So what did he do? He simply used his elasticity to wring himself out.
It'd help not to be uncomfortable. But since the rain had stopped and the Sun was shining, just about to dip over the horizon. The heat from the star dried off his clothes. But one thing had been itching at him.
They hadn't even checked below deck. This was a fully operational Tug Boat. And seemed to have not been docked for very long
By now. He'd be napping. But he wanted to stay awake for a little while to watch the sea pass by. This after all was his first proper sea faring vessel.
Thats when he heard the question of the Fishmen, sitting up from the railing and looking behind him
"Yeah, I'm awake. What's up?"
