Chapter 115: Better hurry.

Chapter 115: Better hurry.

Jeanne didn't wake up for the gunshots. However, Kale bursting in with a bleeding Leroy did cause her to startle awake. It took her a second to register what all was going on, the haze of sleep amplifying the confusion and panic. Somehow her nightcap had slipped off, her hair poofing outwards as she shot out of bed. "What the hell happened?" she would ask as she got to her bag. Luckily for Leroy, due to Kale, she kept some medical gear on her person now.

"He's out cold, so luckily he won't have to be awake for these stitches.", she would say as she began inspecting the wounds. "I... God... I've never seen anything like this before." she would say as she began cleaning out the wound with antiseptic. Hopefully the sting didn't wake him up.

"I'll do what I can, but we definitely need an actual doctor." she said shaking a little bit. "Kirk, you've been with him longest. Do you know his blood type? He might need a transfusion with all this bloodloss."

The sound of a slim brass grind wheel Lighter flicking open was heard behind the panicked crew. The a quick huff of smoke being exhaled as the lighter was flicked shut.

Rango scotch had been there, watching the crew. Leaning against the wall just after Kale had rammed into the door. He was impressed by their care and concern of the captain. "Ya'know. I heard about a Doctor Family on Drumvolc Island. It's a few days journey from here. But, unless you've got a log pose to Drumvolc, it'll be two weeks before you make it there."

After dropping Leroy on the bed stood back and let Kirk and Jeanne handle Leroy's injuries. Upon hearing the lighter clicking behind them his swords immediately left their sheathes and pointed directly at Rango's neck. Kale didn't know who this man was but for him to silently appear here and act so nonchalantly about Leroy and his injuries definitely spelt BAD to him.

"If any one you happens to be an expert navigator. You could figure a way out..." He said before walking away "Clocks ticking. I made sure not to hit anything...Too major." wether it was a lie or not. It seemed like all the injuries were diliberate. He had missed things such as his jugular or femeroal. But the internal bleeding and rupturing of major veins caused him to bleed severely.

"You should be lucky I didn't kill him. There is still much ahead for that man..." He said before disappearing. The sound of spurs clinking into the distance down the hall.

Kirk looked over his shoulder in shock of the new man. He couldn’t even get himself to move after Rango as he left, too shocked to run after him. He recognized him as the drunk guy from the bar of course… but why did this happen all of a sudden? In the middle of the night? Why was Leroy outside in the first place to let himself get attack by the bounty hunter? As the clicking of Rango’s spurs faded down the hall, Noir tried to jump into action, hurrying to the door and leaning out with a hand on the door frame, looking out at the hall. “Hey! Get back here!” Despite his call, Rango was already gone.. “Now isn’t the time to fight him, Noir. If Leroy couldn’t beat him, you certainly won’t be able to. We need to focus on keeping him alive!” Kirk shouted over his shoulder at the cook, his eyes going back to Leroy.

It was weird, though… these looked like bullet holes. How did bullets actually pierce a man made of rubber? “I… don’t know how I can get to ‘Drumvolc’ without a log pose… I don’t even know what direction to go… but we need to start heading there right away. Let’s get Leroy cleaned up the best we can and then set sail immediately, I’ll… see what I can do.” Kirk certainly didn’t consider himself an ‘expert navigator’. They were in a brand new sea with brand new laws! And he didn’t have any sense of where to go! With no compass and only a log pose that pointed him in the direction of a stupid island full of dinosaurs, how was he meant to find Drumvolc!?

He wasn't around for the crew meeting Rango earlier, so he knew very little about all this log pose and stuff, nor did he really care about it. As the man began walking away, Kale kept his eye on him. Making sure he actually walked away. Only to see that the man literally disappeared midstride! Kále stepped out and looked in the direction he'd begun walking in, with Noir. But he was gone. How could he disappear that quickly?! He was only walking right?

Kale picked up the pace and swiftly charged down the hall. His swords still gripped tightly in his hands as he ran. He made his way outside, it was still night, and there wasn't a soul on the streets. Where the hell did that cowboy go?! How could this all fall apart in a matter of hours? He looked down both sides of the street, the pool of Leroy's blood was still on the ground, and in the centre of it was a small device. Kale sheathed one of his swords and picked the device up.. "Hmm, this looks like that thing Gills wears on his arm... the Branch Compass or whatever it's called..."

He took one last look down both sides of the streets before heading back inside, trusting that the cowboy had actually left this time. He made his way back up to the room, carrying the device in his hand and, without noticing, still having his sword in his other hand. Upon entering the room he held the device out. "Hey! Gills! I found this outside. I think that cowboy might've left it for Leroy..." He remembered, shocking, what the cowboy said about Leroy and his future, it meant that he at least knew something about Leroy and didn't kill him for some reason, maybe this was it. "Now c'mon, wrap those wounds, and let's get him back on the ship. We gotta get to... that place? Or Island? Or whatever it was." Kale forgot where Rango said they needed to go.
