Cycle 29 (2)

Dear Diary,

So, it looks like the Admins told everyone about the whole… good luck/bad luck thing. They asked their groups (as far as I can tell) to come up with animals to give bad luck to.

Kimi and Aya already have a list. They made it ages ago, apparently.

I didn’t ask what was on it, because I don’t want to know what animals are gonna be cursed. I don’t think I could live with that knowledge. I mean, it’s not me doing it, but I’d still feel guilty.

Unless slimes were on the list. I wouldn’t mind if slimes were the absolute least luckiest creatures in the history of luck.

I feel like I should say that I’m sure slimes are delightful creatures if you get to know them. But I don’t want to! Slimes are horrible! All kinds of slimes are horrible! I’ve never wanted to befriend a slime!

I told Avi, and he asked if I remember the baby slimes in the old dungeon. Which I had almost forgotten about. But I don’t think they were babies. They were just smaller and faster. A different type of terrible. Avi said the big slimes had baby slimes, making slime families, and would I truly wish evil fortune on an innocent family of slimes? And yes. Yes I would.

Especially since it means something fluffier and cuter won’t be cursed. Nya.

I kinda wonder if the other groups are going to share notes or anything.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

I wonder what would happen if the animals they choose for bad luck aren’t on the new planet. I mean, there are animals here that weren’t on our old planet. Like slimes. So if they choose, like, wasps and snakes, but the Director says there won’t be wasps or snakes, what will happen?

I guess they’ll just have to talk it over until six good animals are chosen.

Oh, so, we know for sure that four Admins talked to their groups. Since we know, we’re assuming all the Admins told their groups about the luck thing. If it were only one, I’d guess they were the ones closest to winning.

At this point, I think whoever’s gonna win already has the high score. Like, there are only sixteen button pushes left. And it isn’t common for one group to get all button pushes. So even if second place is currently only fifteen behind the first group, they’ll probably lose.

I feel like if this were a tv show following one of the other groups, they’d be the underdogs and have to get all sixteen points to win. And there’d be some kind of race at the last minute. Athena would probably be a minor villain, trying to keep the button for the protagonist’s main competition. And next cycle for sure the whole magic of friendship trope would kick in, and they’d all pull together and win against the competition, who wouldn’t be as good of friends.

I wonder what part we’d play in that. Probably support. A friendly group they talk to sometimes. And gives them food.

But this isn’t a tv show.

Or is it? I really wish I could have given everyone going-away cakes. That for sure would have made it into the tv show.

I wonder if I could make going-away churros. That would be a lot faster than cakes.

Eh, I’ll think about it.

Goodnight, Dungeon!
