After Diyu learned about being a daughter of an incestuous relationship, the next day, she stormed off from the fortress. I really don’t know how to deal with temper right now and I have to man the Demon Forces command if devils attack.
I am at loss of words for what I can say to my daughter. Everything was going so well until my tongue slips. She must be mad not only to me but to Eno as well. We really don’t have any reasons to hide from Diyu, however, this is what we fear, the shock of such revelation.
I want to follow after her. What kind of a father I am if I didn’t. However, this fortress’ Lord is me…
“Lord Gria, your daughter ran away…”
“Oh, Miss Violetta…?”
As I was racking my brain in my makeshift office with a map at the center of the table and books and documents scattered everywhere, Miss Violetta emerges from the front door.
“Is there something wrong?”
“Ah…about my daughter…well…there are some things…that happened between us yesterday.”
“Where do you think she is going? This is the center continent…teeming with devils varying from normal and weak ones to the most powerful and largest ones.”
“Yeah…but…”
I glance towards the window. From this room I can see the view of the Demon Army, most are undead that came from my domain, there are a whole bunch of magicians ranging from the best to adept ones, after that some footmen who are holding large weapons and has a varying degree of sizes.
I know a few people who can destroy such size of an army, however, none can belittle the purpose of numbers when it comes to a siege. Powerful as those people may be, they lack the capability to scope everything around them.
These soldiers and warriors can serve as people who will clash with smaller enemies so those who are strong can focus on more lethal and powerful foes.
They are here because they are ready to lose their lives and I cannot disrespect those convictions. Leaving them behind to chase after my daughter…it is a hard decision.
“Are you worried about your men?”
“That’s right…I want to chase after my daughter and talk to her…but…”
“I understand how you feel right now Lord Gria. You have men out there exposed to danger and without a proper king to lead them, they may fall in jeopardy.”
“You nailed it…”
“So I will suggest that you follow your daughter now.”
“Yes?”
Miss Violetta’s suggestion caught me off guard. I definitely thought that she agrees with me staying here instead of following Diyu. In this kind of situation, it is the most suitable option.
I look over her eyes and it has a tinge of seriousness to it.
“Lord Gria…i have someone I know, a girl who felt great loneliness. She lost…her dearest parents in a war that…no one expected. Her father who was a farmer…and her mother who was a clothes maker in a simple but happy village.”
“………”
“The girl loves books. Her beloved parents bought her books as long as they can afford it. She tries her best to learn from those scrapped paper bundled together to create a magical story, facts and values of life, and even fantastic legends and lore. Until one day, her whole village was burned to ground…together with her parents.”
“And…what of the girl…?”
“The girl was saved by a man. It’s a common story…however…the girl’s genuine hatred and lamentation were deeply rooted in her heart. As she grows up, those emotions started resurfacing again and it pushes her to madness, however…”
“However…?”
“What she felt that time…was sadness….sadness that tore her heart apart…her young and innocent heart was miserably crushed by the loss of her parents.”
“And…?”
“Ah…!”
Miss Violetta was talking about the girl who experienced all of those. When her story progresses there momentarily, her face slowly darkens to I can feel a twisted emotion deep inside her welling up. From my voices, she snaps out of it.
“I’m sorry for such silly story. What I want to say is that you shouldn’t let your daughter feel that way. I don’t know how a real parent feels, though I am about to be one, however, as…the girl once told me, it was extremely painful that even to this day, the hate that she thought was washed away is still on her. I don’t want you to let your daughter feel such emotion.”

“Is that so? I am thankful for your suggestion. Since me and Eno, my wife, separated, she always exudes hostility towards me. It’s not harming anyone or anything, and she definitely didn’t mean anything she said towards me…however…this time for sure…it is something…I don’t know…she can’t get over with.”
“If it is not weird or rude…may…may I ask what’s the root of your trouble if you can tell me…”
“I can but it’s a little shocking…”
“I am prepared for everything.”
“Okay…the thing is…Eno, my wife and I are actually siblings and…”
“…”
“Diyu is the fruit of our love…a daughter born from out incestuous relationship.”
“What the…that’s nothing. Mrothgir had a lot of relationships involving some of his descendants. Although not on a degree like yours, he had a lot of it.”
“Ahahaha! Now that you mentioned it, I feel so silly about this now!”
Now that this girl mentioned it, I remember that as someone who lived long, Mrothgir my best friend was such a playboy. I began wondering if he ever runs out of sexual drive even though he has lived longer than anyone could imagine.
Miss Violetta has a slight grin on her lips as she mentioned it. I don’t if I proud of having such notorious friend for even his last lover knew that he has a lot of woman in his life.
Really…I feel so silly right now…
“I brought someone equally capable of leading an army. Her name is Senya so fret not. I am also here to assist because I can’t appear in the frontline.”
“I see…thank you…”
Wait…Senya?
I think I’ve heard of her somewhere, like, Mrothgir mentioned someone granting his ancient blood to someone because of a request from a friend. The odd thing is Mrothgir never mentions the name of the man who requested it.
Mrothgir said that it was a man who is far powerful than he can ever imagine, a man who can easily destroy Baal, a man who can exhaust my life without even moving an inch, and a man who defeated his brother, the one called The Black Dragon Warlord.
What bothers me the most is that…the man who Mrothgir refuses to give name…is capable of slaying gods.
Putting that aside, I glance over Miss Violetta and she nodded a little and smiled at me.
“Follow her.”
“I will. Please be here for my men.”
“I’ll try.”
My body immediately left the chair I am sitting on. I jump from the window of my room and landed on the ground. I kick the ground without further ado and dashes. As a special trait of a vampire, I made my body as weightless as possible, reduce any wind resistance, and most of all, I use the power of my love towards my family!
With encouragement from Miss Violetta, I dash without hesitation. I already know where Diyu from the scent that lingers alone in the air.
Without even ten minutes of running, I already caught sight of her and she already sensed my presence as she turned her head towards my direction. I know I traveled quite a distance away already from the fortress and I know that it will take time to talk with Diyu.
Before reaching where Diyu is, I lodge my feet on the ground for a break. It was quite a mess as the soil was dug up as I used it for my emergency brake.
As my body stops, I am completely in front of Diyu who was staring funnily at me.
“Are you a moron?”
“I’m your father!”
“And also my uncle, and mother is also my aunt, and I have a bull for a stepbrother. Funny isn’t it?”
“Uhhh…”
That really stings. I can’t even say anything back even though I am her father. I am so pathetic and I am even once a parent in my past life. How could I mess up my fatherhood here?
However, I can’t give up now, not that I was pushed by someone else completely unrelated. My beloved daughter is right in front of me…with a confused stare.
“Diyu, why did you leave the fortress? It’s dangerous out here. Are you…really that mad at me?”
“Mad? I am mad at you but that you and mother is sibling thing is…something I am quite reluctant to accept but nevertheless, I can’t call myself mad over it.”
“Eh? Really? Then why did you leave?”
“Because…! Because…I can’t really settle down there…”
Diyu lets out a deep sigh as she looks down with a knitted brow. Her eyes swim left and right and unable to look at me. She scratches the back of her head.
“I am a little worried because…everyone in there that I know vowed to work hard to save this world and as for me…I can’t pull out any of that dedication at all…”
“My daughter…what happened?”
“You see…I made a friend. But that friend of mine was in deep depression. I…stood up to be her emotional pillar and things got quite complicated.”
“Diyu…”
“Then at one point, she started using me as her life’s purpose. I didn’t want it because the way she put it was really wrong. Then, taking advantage of her vulnerable heart…I…I gave her another reason to live…I told her to live…for vengeance.”
“I see…then you felt that you are responsible for it, right? You were…always the righteous one my dear.”
“I can’t…describe how I awfully feel about myself. Even as seeing those who are related to her makes me nauseous. Asagao, even though she experienced something worse that I have, she still stands up for the sake of everything. I am ashamed of myself being next to her.”
“Diyu…I am not the best father but, I can say that I feel a little happy that you are telling this to me. I am also proud that you taking things seriously and giving them a deep thought. There’s nothing wrong with all of it, however, sooner or later, some of it is something you should settle yourself. I can only support you as a father.”
“Hmph…big talk.”
“Uoooh?!”
She is as stubborn as ever! I really thought she became honest for good but she still thinks that I am still a no-good father. Well, I might as well admit it myself but still, I am doing my best!
“Diyu, my daughter, is that all the woes weighing down your heart?”
“None, nothing any--…ah…!”
As she was about to say something, Diyu stops mid-sentence as if she remembered one more thing. Upon realizing something, her eyes widen and her face is immediately dyed red like a blooming rose.
She immediately places her hands on her face as if there is something going through her mind.
I think I know what it is…
“My daughter, are you in love?”
“Wha--?! No!”
“I thought you’d never fall for any men as you have a crush on Mrothgir.”
“Crush?! Are you an idiot father! Ridiculous! I was just admiring how great Lord Mrothgir is! He wouldn’t even come close to Lord Mrothgir’s feat, that Ichir--! What?! What are you making me say?!”
“Oh? That laddie?”
“No! I didn’t say anything!”
Her reactions are much fiercer now. It only proves that that lad, Ichirou, is this girl’s sweetheart. Well, I can’t go in between them. However, I should keep an eye on the boy just in case. To think my daughter actually fell in love with a man, I never even imagined such day will come…
“What are you thinking?!”
“Nothing, none at all. It’s just that you are quite expressive but dishonest now. I pretty sure that things will turn out well for you, my daughter.”
“Hmph, now you’re acting all fatherly…”
“Because I am your father. Now, let’s go back. Now that you’re all cheered up, do you think you can fight to save this world? It is something you will decide but knowing you, you will.”
“That goes without saying.’
“Yes and it seems that right now…we have a guest to entertain…”
It is as I said, a strong presence suddenly finds itself towards us. Diyu was several seconds late to perceive the one emitting such pugnacious aura, however, in extremely brazen place, it was natural.
What came to our view as it moved closer, a strange creature that is nothing short of a devil, wearing armor with helm written VI. He holds a scythe in his hands and there’s a strange pointy object around it floating.
I can tell already that this devil is not your usual devil. Even by just looking at it makes my spine tingles. Its seething hostility that can push a normal person the madness is just too exciting for me.
“Diyu, you better leave now.”
“Don’t order me around. I will fight alongside with you. This is a little new for me, fighting with a strong opponent with you.”
“Oh?! How sweet of you! I am happy as your father! Okay, I will show you a good spectacle! Back me up if necessary!”
“Back you up?! I can certainly take that on!”
Diyu said as she brandishes the cutlass hanging around her waist. With a smile, I also bring out the Cape of Blood God.
Even with our misunderstanding as father and daughter, even with our huge differences, there are things that we can get along with.
I feel extremely blessed with having Eno as my wife. I am happy having Diyu, as well as Balrog as my children. I am also honored to step up as a family that will welcome Cattleya in our family. For the sake of keeping that happiness, I am going to do my best even this family of mine is odd.
None shall hurt those who I love.
