Tzari gave us the time of the day to take our leisure departure because staying any further won’t prove anything anymore. Daisy has some resistance to leaving without achieving much but at the same time, she herself is doubtful of Tzari’s character, especially his moronic inclination towards little girls.
As such we are descending right now from the mountain and yet again, breezing through the harsh cold weather that the mountain offers.
From afar, Alstroe happily leads us down while Miss Cecille stayed awfully quiet for most of the time. As for Daisy, because we are now descending, it seems her woes of hardcore mountain climbing lessened and she can now run her mouth off.
“It seems that my aptitude isn’t that far from being prodigious, huh? As expected of me, for someone who will serve under as great as Beast Queen Higanbana!”
“Ahehehe…please serve her well, okay?”
“That’s already given! I am an excellent aide so I know my responsibilities! You saw my brilliance in battle, no? Aren’t I excellent enough now?”
Thing is, young lady, you almost got me with the wind magic that you were unable to control well earlier but I am not boorish enough to strain her mood. Sooner or later, she’ll also learn how to control her magic through training so I doubt the same thing will happen.
At least, with me… I hope…
If what Tzari said about little girls having higher learning performance when it comes to Ki, then it’s possible that Daisy’s training will be swift and guarantees to promote growth.
But in the end, it will depend on her willingness to learn and her determination. Well, considering that she had traveled from the center continent to here proves that she is driven enough to pursue such power that she herself is uncertain that she can acquire it.
Our time with Daisy will almost come to an end. We’ll be sending her home through Violetta’s warp because we are going to do our real job from now on and that’s the city inspection. This time around where we brought her here is just an exception since it coincided with our goal.
As for Tzari, we don’t know what will happen but it seems he will be coming down from the mountain soon. I hope I don’t meet him soon…
Wait…!
I shouldn’t have said that. That’s the flag!
“Ah…”
“Hmm? What’s wrong, Alstroe?”
Alstroe suddenly stops and turn her sight back at the mountaintop like she felt something from there. No, it is more accurate to say that she is looking at specifically at someone.
Yeah, I do sure have this karma that brings weirdo around me, huh?
“Master!”
“Oooooooh!”
THUD
Fair enough, Tzari landed in front of us with a huge backpack and wearing a casual dress that makes him looks like a civilian. He stood before us with a smile before chuckling lightly.
The only one who sprouted a flabbergasted countenance is Daisy while Miss Cecille exudes an extremely annoyed ambiance while frowning disgustingly. As for I, I can only sigh in disbelief of this man.
He did jump all the way from atop the mountain where his shrine is to where we are right now.
“Eh?! Why are you here?!”
And of course, Daisy asked that question while pointing at Tzari.
It’s bad to point at people like that and it is really bad when it is your habit from any unexpected situation but let’s call that off since the one in front of her is Tzari, the man we deemed as a pervert right from the outset.
I want to make a rude remark as a punchline but my effort will be wasted with him.
“Why you ask? I said I’m planning on coming down the mountain. I just figured that this is the best time to come down since something amiss is going on.”
Something amiss is going on?
Is it not because he will be on a field research or because of a whim or it is because seems like things are heating up?
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
“What do you mean by that? Something is amiss with what? I thought you will just be on a field research?”
“Partly, yes, but there are things that worry me. For example, the movement of the girl from the Fairy Kin.”
“Girl from Fairy Kin…? That…blue haired woman?”
“Ah, you know her too. That’s right, I have business with her, Hydrangea. I have some words to pick with her since she instilled Alstroe some Brahma Teachings.”
“What…?”
That’s…kind of new to me…
Isn’t that bad?
On top of being a master of the Teaching of Brahma, Hydrangea is also part of the Order of Arcana led by Nil and her Arcana Magic is wrath.
I don’t know how strong she is but…just from those learnable facts alone, I can determine that she can definitely fight toe-to-toe with Alstroe and Fonfon.
Her strength is bad news…
Gathering such strong figureheads shouldn’t happen or else, if a clash incident like what happened with Alstroe and Fonfon once again happen, I doubt this continent will last.
“Also, I am going to appoint a new sage in replacement of the felled Southern Sage. Someone needs to be a new figure within the magic’s research society.”
“Appoint? You mean you will be searching for someone to earn the title?”
“But of course. Though it might take years, it is something that must happen.”
There’s a lot more complicated stuff laid down on Tzari’s plate than I thought. Sending home all of his practitioners and closing down the shrine temporarily must have been his plan for a while now.
A Sage to replace the called Mrothgir. I don’t think anyone can easily fill his position as he is somewhat a really special existence that developed a lot of ancient magic.
The only one I can think of to replace him is Violetta, however, she is affiliated with Fonfon, whom is the king of this continent. Meaning, if Violetta accepts that title, she will need to lead the southern continent but that would be not recommendable, especially right now that she is pregnant.
Also, it asks me the question of who are the people behind this research society?!
This is the first time I’ve heard of them and Master never mentions anything about them. All I know is that he is a famous magic researcher but I didn’t know he is affiliated with such organization.
“No wonder you are not aware of that group. Even I don’t like that so they aren’t that mentioned often. To be honest, they are just maniacs that pursue experiments with drastic results that crosses the line. That was from the past when the Sage of the South started banning it. We need a new strong figurehead who will control these maniacs so I need to act.”
“That’s a lot more work to do. Also, if that’s the case, won’t it be ideal to search for someone trustworthy as soon as possible? We don’t know when those people will act and do something cruel again.”
“That’s right, that’s why I need to make it known that I am going around the continents to mitigate their actions while searching for a new Sage of the South. It’s a pressing matter right now since the threat of the devil starts receding as of recent.”
That’s right…
Since destroying Erestivatria, devils stopped spawning and people are painstakingly hunting down the leftover devils.
But that also spells that people with a much more evil motive can now act without worry of the devils. I feel like a new threat brought by the people of this world will be a lot more troublesome.
“So in that note, to operate openly, I need the King’s cooperation. I shall join you for now and do some favors for him to get some credit.”
“You are awfully sly and devious, considering that you are telling that to me, the King’s very sister.”
Though not really siblings, we are still somewhat related.
“So yeah, I want a good introduction, little sister.”
“You’re using me?!”
“Don’t make it sound like that, hahaha! Consider it as a favor for Alstroemeria.”
“You are more of a scum than I thought!”
“In replace, I’ll try to teach you and little Daisy as much knowledge as possible. That’s right, I’ll stand in as your master for the duration that we are together.”
This is getting out of hand…
Suddenly, I felt a tug on my clothes.
“Miss Asagao, consider this as a favor for me too.”
“Daisy?”
“What are your plans for me once we get back? I am aware that sending me back is a cinch. If this man stays together with us, I can vouch that I can stay longer if I have a reason to.”
She is perceptive at moments where she finds advantageous for her…
In the first place, she will entirely decide if she will stay or not, however, I cannot cater to her as much as I can since I still have a pressing job to do.
Wait…
Why did it suddenly turned that I am the one deciding things here…?
“For now, I am not someone who can decide anything. For now, I want to head back to the castle. Since my job of city inspection comes first, I’ll have everything else falls secondary. Is that alright?”
“You are not someone who will decide for me, though…”
This cheeky brat…!
“Let’s just go now…”
I beckoned everyone to move again…
I don’t have that much mental strength to deal with them all at once. Carrying on with the conversation with no apparent result will do me no good.
From my words, we once again resume our descent.
When we climbed the mountain, it took us hours, however, climbing down is obviously easier. Actually, it only took us only a couple of hours to go down and another hour walking back to the city.
The sun is setting as the sky is dyed in a blue jew that shows a serene night sky.
As we went back to our inn, Violetta was already there waiting for our return.
“Good work, Asagao. Thank you for your assistance today, Miss Cecille.”
“Yes, thanks for picking us up, Violetta.”
We exchange some lighthearted greetings before sitting down.
Fair enough, Violetta raises an eyebrow at Tzari.
“You are…”
“Oh, you must be the Southern Sage’s disciple from two hundred years ago. Yeah, I remember you! You were such a cute little girl back then!”
Violetta showed a disgusted face as she jogged her memory and seems to find some of her recollection of Tzari.
She turns pale…
“You are that despicable guy back then… You are still alive?!”
“You ain’t that cute anymore but I’d still say you are charming as a woman. Not that I have any interest in you.”
“I would have loved it if you were dead.”
With such face, Violetta immediately stood up from her seat and abruptly opened her warp.
Wait, Tzari said that he started a fieldwork regarding little girls having higher learning aptitude of Ki but, what Violetta is implying is that, even two hundred years back then, Tzari is already a despicable man?!
“I don’t want to stay here further with that man.”
“But I am coming.”
“Tsk…”
I can feel Violetta’s enmity towards Tzari.
I don’t know why but there’s seem to be something between them that Violetta immediately recalled about him.
I followed behind Violetta so I won’t lag behind and the others followed.
Violetta tried to leave Tzari behind but man, the dude is faster…
Where we ended up at the end of Violetta’s warp is in front of Fonfon, in his workroom…
“Ah, Fonfon, we’re back!”
“ASAGAO!”
“Wah!?”
I was quickly scooped up from my place as Fonfon rushes at me.
Was this on purpose?!
“Ah, this scent of flower never gets old! I hope you never get old. Not that you will but still, I want to say that.”
“That’ll be a lot of inconvenience for me…”
And then, Fonfon immediately noticed Tzari’s existence because he is the only man who came back with us. Without dropping me off, he approaches Tzari with discerning gaze and Tzari replied with a gaze similar to Fonfon.
“Who are you? I don’t remember seeing you with them. State your name and your business here, stranger.”
“I am Tzari and I am here because I heard there are more cute little girls around here!”
Aren’t you too honest?!
“What in the world…tell me…about what you said…”
“I live to see their smile, and to protect them! Also, I want to see them grow up while doing their best!”
“You…”
A sudden spark of connection lits between them…
I don’t like this…
