That was a terrible outburst…I mean…it doesn’t make any sense!

Haa…I don’t care anymore…

“Higan…let’s go…I feel really tired all of the sudden…”

“Well…I never saw you like that before…how do I say it…adorable even you are really angry while stomping on the ground!~”

“Geez, that was really frustrating…we didn’t pillage anything interesting. We didn’t find out much about this city other than it is existing here and they have cool buildings.”

What Higan points at is…really not secret…there are some things that were toppled down to block it here and there.

I know someone who will definitely throw a fit with all this mess and it is not going to be nice when she does…

I open the door and what comes to our view shocks us!

Surprise! Another hallway! What’s wrong with these people?!

“Asagao…”

“We’ve come this far already Higan, turning back now would definitely hurt my pride!”

“Eh? Why are you saying something like that?”

“Anyway, let’s proceed.”

“There’s a room over there. It looks like another room.”

“Let’s take a peek.”

We walk down the hallway. The hallway is four-way intersection and we decided to go straight first. What we saw is… a room with many mechanical parts scattered.

Some huge apparatuses and metal scraps. It’s a really huge room. I bet hundreds of people worked there. There are also engines and cogwheels scattered about.

“Hmmm… this must their assembly room or the room where they made those weird mechanical things.”

“Mechanical? Is that what they are called?”

“Un. I, more or less have an idea what are these people doing here.”

“You’re so cool Asagao! I don’t even have the slightest idea what’s with this place!”

After looking at the room with many machines, we took off to look at the hallway to the right on where we came from earlier…

There are…bath rooms and some sanitary equipment shed on the side of the hallway…but there is a big creepy door at the end…it says…”Do not enter without permission.”

Higan seems to be looking around for the sanitary equipment which is obviously, can’t be used anymore.

By pure curiosity, I approach the large creepy door and grab the handle…then I open it…

What entered my view…what my nose perceives…

“Bleeeeeargh!! Urk! Kuh..Ahh..haah..haah…”

What’s that?! What the hell?!

H-Human bones?!  It’s grotesquely mutilated too! I don’t know if there is or not but, my nose perceives the stench of decomposing flesh…

“Asagao, what’s wrong?”

“D-don’t come here!”

“Eh…?”

I slam the door shut.

“Haah…haah…haah…”

“Asagao! What happened?”

“Higan…you…don’t need to know…”

“Asagao…”

“Let’s proceed towards the last hallway.”

Ah…cold sweat starts flowing in my back…earlier was just wacky then suddenly…  I wonder…what are we going to stumble in that door… my stomach started twisting upon recalling the sensation earlier…no good...

I fell on my knees…

“Asagao!”

“Can…can we rest for a bit?”

“Ok…”

“Haah…haah…”

“What’s wrong?”

“I told you earlier Higan… please don’t ask…”

“Hmm? Ok, but…let me at least comfort you.”

We sat down on the floor while leaning on the wall of the hallway…

I don’t know this feeling…it’s like…fear…fear etched inside me…

Ah…I remember those soldiers that were mutilated right before my eyes that night…

I killed people before, even though Nil claims that he was the one controlling my body but… seeing a corpse…

I thought I have grown a bit from everything that happened. I thought I gained something for myself through experience. I thought I have seen everything…not yet…

This is…just a lighter side of everything…

Higan pulls my head to her chest and started stroking it.

“Asagao… you’re shaking… you definitely saw something you don’t want me to see too.”

“Higan…something like that…”

“There, there… you seemed really stressed too lately.”

“That’s because of those idiotic people who wrote that diary…”

“I didn’t mean about that…it’s like…you are really frantic… and scared of something…no…I guess from someone…”

“When you are ready, please tell me about it…”

“Are you fine now?”

“I am…we need to move forward!”

We move towards the last door in the hallway. It’s…metallic…

I steel myself and grab the handles and open it…

What we saw is… a really huge room!

The room seems like a natural part of the cave itself… no, more like they haven’t build anything here. In the far side of the room is a door. We walk towards it.

After about two steps…

BAM!

The door behind us shuts firmly and a metal-like plating covers it.

The ground starts to rumble…

I have a bad feeling about this!

Isn’t this…the boss room? A boss will come out!

Then…from the ground… a large metallic golem came out from it. It’s over five meters.

“INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!”

“Higan… it seems we need to fight this one!”

“It is as expected! Let’s thrash it!”

[Icicle!]

BAKIN

“It also has those annoying shield?!”

“This might be one of those ether golems whatsoever!”

“Asagao! What should we do?”

“Let’s try attacking it from both sides!”

“Affirmative!”

We both run from both sides.

BAKIN!

Deflected?!

“Higan! Regroup!!!”

“Okay!”

Good thing this big guy here isn’t moving. I think…

“It has that annoying transparent shield!”

“That’s most likely something that fends off the magic attack.”

“How did you know?”

“Well,…we are both magic users…”

“INITIATION COMPLETE! MANA BEAM!”

“”EH?!””

DODGE!

We both jump sideways.

BOOM!

THUMP!

The golem fired a really thick laser at us! It sends tremor to the whole place! The place where the laser hits, is melted! Hey! That’s dangerous!

And…Owwiee… I land on my forehead!

“Asagao! It’s moving now!!”

“EH?!”

“I’ll come to you now!”

The golem starts reacting to our movements and the first thing it did is, attacking of course! It’s coming to me!

I also run towards Higan while holding out my arms which she also did!

As I grab hold of her hand, the golem made a motion of striking down. Before that!

[Divine Ascension!]

Higan transforms into a divine nine tailed fox. The same as before, she radiates divine aura around her.

[Icicle!]

The large lump of icicles fired off to the golem. The shield withstood the attack but the golem stumbles.

[Fire Blast!]

[Earth Pillar!]

[Lighting Crash!]

BAKIN!

WHAT?!

It was all deflected?! Higan’s power right now is cheat level and yet!

“Asagao! It’s not working!!!”

“I can see that…”

This is a really tight situation…
