The Devil VI thrusts its lance towards Mimosa which she preemptively dodges by side stepping to her left. She immediately brought out a dagger and throttles towards the devil. In the trance of her movement, she swings the dagger to the pit of the devil’s armor below its head.
BAKIN!
The devil knowingly shifted its position to prevent from getting slashed by Mimosa and rams its body to her.
“Eeep!”
In a panic, Mimosa jumps backward before the devil’s body could even touch her.
“Damn, that could shatter my ribs. Also, I may not be sure yet but…I hope its special skill is not precognition.”
That’s already a bad flag you are raising there. What will you do if it is really precognition? Mimosa’s attack was already predicted. And to boot, that devil has a troublesome armor and not to mention, it has better reach because of its lance which seems much taller than me.
It’s amazing that Mimosa was able to catch its attacking motion earlier. If I were in her position, I would have panicked and will retreat due to the sudden attack. Getting close to it is more troublesome in which Mimosa made no big deal.
Mimosa is…I wonder…? A veteran warrior or just your everyday researcher…
I really never asked anything about her when we were together and I don’t think I’ll be getting a decent answer from her.
“Bah! I don’t think throwing stuff at you is a good idea until I use my Arcana Magic to you.”
Mimosa outright said as her lips curves downward with an unpleasant expression. The Devil VI just observe her until it drew the attack again with a rough dash towards Mimosa. It swings its lance and made a heavy mid sweep that could hack Mimosa’s torso, however, Mimosa dodges it by arching her back downwards.
FWOOOSH!
I’m taking back what I said earlier, it won’t just hack Mimosa’s torso, it would also completely blow away her upper body without abandon. A huge burst of gust washed over the barren field as the lance sweeps above Mimosa and in hindsight, blowing her away with great force.
As she fell on the ground, she rolls like a barrel several times before stopping with her butt facing upward.
“Sheesh! Calm down! I am not going anywhere! You won’t find a good girl if you are that hasty!”
Despite the great difference in strength and power, Mimosa remains calm and collected as she can still spew a remark and a tasteless joke.
I look at Senya who is just observing calmly in her wheelchair while Casablanca and Hibiscus took a rests as Hasu and Ichirou took over in killing the weaker devils. There are more and more soldiers from the demon race that arrives and even passes us some rations.
None of those soldiers dare to enter Ichirou, Hasu and Mimosa’s battle zone as it is too high level for them to interfere.
“Say, Senya…don’t you think Mimosa could get a little support?”
“A little support, you say? Well, I guess you are right.”
From my notion, Senya gave it a quick thought and directs her view to Mimosa and steer a little forward to her direction and then shouted.
“Mimosa, you can do it!”
“Aight! Don’t go calling me unnecessarily!”
Senya then looks at me again with a face full of smile and confident like she is an adorable girl that did her best…
That’s one way to support too but…
Still, I can’t believe Mimosa had the audacity to reply to Senya even though the Devil VI is charging at her since its last attack fails to land. However, as another blinding thrust came to her, she spins around like an idiot magnificently dodged it.
Mimosa strikes me now as an average fighter, however, if I will give her one specialty in the field, she is someone good at evading…
“Doesn’t she get tired of the way she fights?”
“I don’t even know if she gets tired. Have you ever seen her sleeping?”
“I think I…no…that time, Miss Ardisia knocked her unconsciousness. Nope…never saw her sleeping. That’s not the issue here…”
“Yes, I am just making small talks.”
I sigh and look back at Mimosa dancing all over the place. Even with a speed comparable to Ichirou and ferocity comparable to Hasu, Mimosa is not getting a single scratch at all. She holds her dagger with one hand and pivots her turns and step on the other. It’s like a human pendulum.
But nothing will happen if she keeps dodging.
Another thrust with a powerful force was done by the Devil VI and Mimosa preemptively dodged it and like the scenario earlier, Mimosa goes for the small slit of the opening in the devil’s armor.

In response, the devil just tilted its head again, however…
“Psyche!”
Mimosa immediately stops the dagger midway and pushed it with her other hand. Since the outcome changed, the devil got damaged and in response again, it tried to ram Mimosa with its body.
“Not anymore!”
Mimosa slid her dagger up to the back and arches her body again to prevent from being rammed by the devil’s body. She spins as she took the dagger out that gouges some flesh from the devil.
She immediately walks away happily that she even started skipping.
“Oh, checkmate.”
“Huh?”
I tilted my head from Senya’s remark. Checkmate means that Mimosa won?
A devil of that caliber surely can regenerate faster than I can! Also, it won’t go down with a single slash like that in the neck! It should be extinguished wholly to kill it completely. What does a single cut could do to a devil?!
Mimosa stares at the dagger with labored breathing as if she has seen something new. Since devils don’t have any outright flesh or blood when they die, there should be nothing there, however, since the devil itself is still moving, there was a flesh hooked on it.
Without second thought Mimosa…devoured the remains!?
I can feel my face being drained of blood…for the second time of the day while I grab Senya’s should in horror while shaking her and pointing at Mimosa.
“C-Calm down Asagao, that’s just how Mimosa does her things!”
“B-But…that’s…how…why?! It’s…just…why!?”
“She is an Arcana Magician that obsessed with information. Although an arcana magician, her power as one is weaker than even most arcana magicians. However, her power itself is a great threat to anyone…”
Lesser than anyone? That must be the reason I don’t feel repulsive of her. Her personality is on a brighter side and it has nothing to do with the disposition of her Arcana…
Like hell!
The enraged devil started chasing her and Mimosa started running away, however, her focus is not on the enemy. She is looking straight at something…clearly, we can’t see…
“Asagao, like what I’ve told you back then, Mimosa’s arcana magic can view anything about anyone as long as she consumes something from them.”
“And…so?”
“She said herself once, there’s an information or status something screen that pops out in her sight that details everything, the very foundation of a being, its talents and abilities, its potentials and such. She can even view things the person themselves doesn’t know about their own self.”
“That’s scary, someone else peering deep inside you, even the part that you don’t know…”
I look at Mimosa as she hovers over something invisible to our eyes with a maniacal smile. I wonder what she was thinking all the time when she asked me for my spit. I know that it was an honest request however it gives me shivers that something sounded so simple can be terrifying.
“Mimosa has always researched honestly purely out of her own volition and pursuit of knowledge. She had read so many books that Astlan and Hinoki wrote.”
“Eh? Books that they wrote?”
“That’s right. Astlan left so many reference books with his magical theories. He wrote those in boredom in his wooden shack that we retrieve and kept confidential in our library. Hinoki was able to learn more about your world’s…science…is what it is called.”
“Eh? I never knew anything like that!”
“Hinoki’s first spouse was a reincarnator, however, as a human, he died earlier. After that, you already know it. She had a child with Astlan that bore Casablanca an Hibiscus.”
“Meaning, since reading their books, Mimosa becomes inspired?”
“More inspired. She already broke down each of the races body compositions. If I remember correctly, she called it elements and their biological and chemical composition. For humans, she said we are composed of sixty-five percent(65%) oxygen, eighteen point five percent(18.5%) carbon, nine point five percent(9.5%) hydrogen, three point two percent(3.2%) nitrogen, one point five percent(1.5%) calcium, one percent(1%) phosphorus, zero point four percent(0.4%) potassium, zero point three percent(0.3%) sulfur, zero point two percent(0.2%) sodium, zero point two percent(0.2%) chlorine, zero point one percent(0.1%) magnesium, and the rest of zero point one(0.1%) is others.”
“You…are well informed huh…”
“Oh, my? Of course, I should be! If we differentiate humans from the other races, she said that other than said elements, the elves have higher salt content on their bodies and has more oxygen and hydrogen which makes up for a good magical nerve in their body. It is also the cause why elves live far longer than human.”
“T-There was such thing?! A scientific explanation?!”
“Like the elves, the gigantic dwarves have the same salt content on their body but they don’t have the component of more oxygen and hydrogen, instead, their bones are much dense and there’s more iron in their blood. The beasts have far more keratin than normal race and they have both the added hydrogen and oxygen content and dense bones, however, they are on much lower than the two races.”
“Wait…! You mean…that every race has…”
“However, look at Ichirou and Hasu. They are an exception to the natural phenomena of aging since the spirit inside their body perpetually invigorates them. Arcana magicians are no different but conceptually misaligned. Arcana magicians become an out of this world being that deter the law of aging because their magic nerves are in completely different composition.”
“Is…is there more?!”
“Well, I’ll tell later. Look at what Mimosa is doing now.”
Since Senya said so, I glance at Mimosa just to have my jaw drop…
“What’s wrong?! You are getting sloppy!”
Mimosa was parring on equal footing with the devil. Also, there’s a mist that surrounds them and Mimosa is wearing a weird mask. She dodges the lance like it was just a twig being swung by a baby.
“Attack pattern, attack range, attack interval, offensive capabilities, speed, reaction time, your skills, your specialty, your composition as a whole, your very own meaning of life, I have seen through everything.”
The Devil VI movements are stiff as if it is being petrified. Mimosa mercilessly swings her dagger in the devil’s armor slits. I am guessing that the mist around them has done something to the devil and its movement is being dulled.
If I imagine myself in the devil’s situation, it must be really hellish to fight someone as Mimosa. This will forever be in my memory that do not mess with her.
After a while of her fury of attacks, Mimosa stops and made a distance from the devil.
“Well, it’s over.”
The devil’s torso, specifically the stomach, started melting along with the armor. The devil could do nothing but thrust its lance on the ground and support itself with it. I didn’t think that a devil general would be this pushover.
“I did tell you at the start how you will take an acid to the stomach. This seems to be the result. Making so many openings that resulted with open wounds with this mist around, you are bound to get dissolve from the flesh.”
Mimosa walks off coolly leaving the Devil VI to die inside the mist of acid. However, the devil won’t go down easily. It picks up its lance again and held it vertically. Mimosa immediately noticed this and pales.
“Oh shit! I was trying to end this as fast as I can!”
What happened?
Mimosa runs towards us.
“Run! It’s really going to do it! It’s last battle cry!!”
“Eh?!”
“I mean, it’s going to use a disaster class magic!!”
Hmm?
Suddenly, an influx of magical power surges around the devil that it instantly made every hair on my body stands up. Ichirou and Hasu felt it and turn their head to the devil.
“[Mountain Cleaver!]”
“[Heart Piercer!]”
They simultaneously attack at the devil in question with all of their power. However, their attacks didn’t reach as the Devil VI started the spell.
The lance in its hand spins that created a vortex of gust that blew both attacks away together with Ichirou and Hasu. The wind is so strong that the ground around the devil started breaking. The cloud above the continent started swirling on it and the whole place darkens even more.
It was no pushover after all. It’s called a Devil General for a reason. Even its own comrades, the archdevils, and giant devils are shredded bits by bits as the wind touches them.
Mimosa runs and grabs Senya, hence, leaving her wheelchair behind.
“Run! This won’t end well. Might as well abandon that fortress!”
“What’s happening?!”
“That devil is going for its final attack. I thought I already disable it but I miscalculated.”
“Eh?”
“It’s a disaster class spell that equals the destruction of the demon lord’s spell!”
Ichirou and Hasu started dashing to my direction. Casablanca and Hibiscus held hand as they tried not to get blown away and all of the demon soldiers are trying their best to hold their ground. At this rate, escape will be impossible.
The tornado kept growing and becomes more pitch black, an impending destruction that even wreck havoc since the ancient time, one of the most deadly natural disasters that took millions of lives throughout the history of our world, a wind the uproots every creation and blows the life away from everyone.
The devil’s power grew ever so powerful and then…
“WRRrrrAAAAGHgghhhGGGGGHHHHH!”
The devil swings the lance that emitted the deadly wind towards us that ensures total annihilation. However, despite the destruction it may bring, I casually drew a sword from my dimensional storage.
“Hey! ASAGAO! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!?”
“GET BACK HERE!”
Hasu and Ichirou called out to me as they struggle to move from the strong wind. I created a barrier in front of me to prevent myself from being blown away.
The disaster itself comes ever so close to my face. I calmly position my sword to my side for a slash. Before I get blown away…I drew my sword and slash at the face of the calamity and shouted…
“[Divine Counter!]”
An explosive amount of divine power surged from my body and flows towards my sword that it instantly breaks it.
The disastrous phenomenon that was about to hit us had its flow of cause and effect reversed and the tornado blew backward.
With nothing left of it, the devil defenselessly caught its own attack and dies.
In short, the powerful gust was thrown back to the devil and not only that, it also mowed all the devils from far back and created a field of uneven ground that was mowed.
I look back at them smiled at everyone as if nothing happened.
“Everything’s good?”
They stare at me…like I am some kind of ghost…
