Miss Cecille just stood there, waiting for me and Daisy to commence our attack. This is no longer something I could wait for either as I am itching for some dry battle for the past days. With a glee, I deployed the Intangible Barrier to enhance my senses then I dash forward.
“I’m going!”
“Hey!”
Daisy cried out from behind but stopping now might be detrimental so I push forward.
As soon as I got closer to Miss Cecille, I immediately spin around to make a roundhouse slash and at the same time, as an effective evasive maneuver for an upcoming attack. It will be effective if my sword will clash with Miss Cecille’s spear to create some rebound but…
WHOOSH
As expected, Miss Cecille casually dodged such half-assed attack by shifting her body sideward. Her movement was instant and fast that it won’t be an exaggeration to call it her natural reaction.
Since my attack missed, I continued forward to get behind her with my earlier momentum but of course, things won’t go my way.
With a quick and powerful kick, Miss Cecille thwarted my next action as my sword flew away from my grasps.
“Ohohoh? Cecille, you are still good at holding back.”
“When I agreed to this fight, it doesn’t mean I am out for blood. I better make my assurance after all in dealing with them.”
“How valorous of you.”
Tzari and Miss Cecille exchanged brief words.
Somehow, I felt insulted but at the same time, she may be right.
Well, I might call this testing the water just to know what Miss Cecille is capable of. My next attack may prove to be a better one.
As I run off to pick up my sword that flew off, Daisy then charges at Miss Cecille.
“Hyah!”
Daisy swung the broadsword with intensity but Miss Cecille just dodges casually. Since it’s a sword that far outweighs mine, I don’t think kicking it would do anything adverse.
But, as expected of King Folga’s daughter, she is quite a fighter on her own field. Her swordsmanship started growing fierce that Miss Cecille is pushed to use her spear to defend.
Daisy pushes and pulls her broadsword in a quite peculiar way. It is not wrong to say that she is almost like a hurricane while using the backlashing momentum of the sword and making another powerful swing towards the foe.
The focus of her center gravity solely lies within her core and her limbs are helpful to propel any forces forward again. Her movement is in unison compared to an almost like a vagabond movement of mine even after learning a bit of Calm Dragon Tempest.
“Damn! Why are all of my attacks not hitting you?!”
“Miss Daisy, please do not lose your cool.”
To be admonished during a battle, even as a mock, is quite embarrassing.
Daisy immediately loses her focus as her hits strike none. Miss Cecille’s skill is nothing to scoff at too. Her footwork is something you won’t see from amateurs. Every corner of her steps are calculated and the positioning of her spear is always optimal for either counter or block but she never executed the counter.
In hindsight, Daisy is having a hard time just to keep up with Miss Cecille’s evasive maneuvers combined with her occasional admonishing.
I don’t have time to be standing around myself so I immediately dash at Miss Cecille the moment she dodges Daisy’s last attack.
Fair enough, Miss Cecille noticed me but…
“Barrier!”
A series of plate-like barrier use for scaffolding appears everywhere around Miss Cecille. Seeing the dozen barrier appears out of nowhere baffled Miss Cecille momentarily but never lost her focus. I jump towards her while twisting my body and propels another slash at her.
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
This time, I manage to land a hit on her spear but she didn’t stagger. That just proves that her strength is far above my league but I didn’t falter.
I set one foot on the scaffolding and started propelling myself again and goes for another slash.
“Wha--?!”
Even as Miss Cecille showed a visible reaction from my new set of movements, she was able to parry my attack on the last bit of milliseconds.
I don’t want to believe this myself but Miss Cecille is ten steps ahead if we don’t use any trickery or gimmicks.
That’s how I see it.
The way she moves is really what one can call professional. Her gaits and steps are filtered to almost perfection. One would say that it is not something special but for Miss Cecille who is a normal human, such feat can only be called peerless.
Even as I continued my assault, she preemptively prepares a way to avoid or block my attacks and still make sure that she doesn’t hit me at all.
It’s annoying, it’s aggravating but it is all reasonable in her standpoint.
Suddenly, Miss Cecille grabs my collar and pushes me with an incredible amount of force.
Actually, it just entered my field of Intangible Barrier but I think it would be too late for me to act. A slicing wind of blade suddenly mowed down the ground where I was earlier together with Miss Cecille.
“Ah…”
“That was completely reckless.”
I commented as I stare at Daisy.
The person herself pales as she saw how devastating her attack was.
But it was kind of interesting to know that she can use wind magic.
“I…I still don’t know how to adjust the output…! I…I’m sorry!”
“No! On the contrary, that was incredible.”
“Even if you say that, Miss Asagao.”
“Can you use any other magic besides that?”
“Wind base enhancement magic.”
“Then use that!”
“I see if you will.”
Her magic is quite dangerous and unstable so I’ll have her use something I think she is more proficient with.
A gust of wind envelopes her body and Daisy then dashes once again towards to Miss Cecille. The sword in her hands seems a bit lighter than earlier.
After letting us chitchat, Miss Cecille once again prepared herself.
I pounce again on Miss Cecille but this time, I left out the barrier so Daisy can move without much restriction.
Daisy then started exchanging blows with Miss Cecille toe to toe with a ferocity she had before. Likewise, I started swinging my sword aiming for Miss Cecille’s flank or back.
However, her movements are too flexible.
As I aim for her back, Miss Cecille stabs the other end of her spear on the ground and propels herself upwards like a pole vaulter and escapes from my attack.
Then, I saw where my sword will strike as I immediately saw Daisy’s countenance. Likewise, she had her eyes popping as she saw me.
“Uwaah!”
“Eek!”
At the knick of time, I was able to divert the trajectory of my sword before it hits Daisy’s flank and she was able to forcibly raise hers by hairbreadth distance from my head.
Because our balance was disturbed, we both stumble down.
“That…was close…”
“Yeah, even though these are wooden swords, they will still hurt.”
“Still, why can’t we hit her!!”
“It just shows that Miss Cecille is a veteran adventurer with a plenty of battles behind her.”
“One more! One more time! Let’s not give up until we land a hit!”
“Well, I don’t plan on backing down too so let’s go! You go for the right side and I’ll go to the left. Don’t try to match my pace and continue as it is. Blitz your way towards her and attack like what you did before. As long as we can keep her spear busy, we may land a hit.”
“You are…far better than I expected…I’m sorry for doubting you earlier, Miss Asagao. You are no mere sheltered princess, you are entitled to be called a warrior of the same standing.”
“Yeah…”
It’s better if she doesn’t know about me too much, right?
Upon finishing her words, she then once again aimed at Miss Cecille while leaving a huge gust behind her. Her speed exceeds mine but she isn’t anywhere nimble and flexible as me.
I followed and goes straight to Miss Cecille’s left flank while she parried a strong attack coming from above by Daisy.
“That’s just plain wrong.”
Miss Cecille said as something in her eyes changes.
She and Daisy are in lock, however, those words sent a chill to both me and Daisy. Miss Cecille blow Daisy’s sword away with the sheer strength of a human alone. It’s not that Miss Cecille is strong but, with the right stance, she manages to do the feat.
Upon Daisy’s confusion, Miss Cecille went straight towards me and before I know it, she tripped me using the spear in her hand.
“Eh…?!”
“Wah?!”
Both of us cried from Miss Cecille’s movements.
Before I could even hit the ground, Miss Cecille grabs the collar of my shirt and threw me singlehandedly towards the baffled Daisy.
THUD!
Both Daisy and I fell down on the ground.
I lay on her stomach and Daisy lays on her butt while groaning.
I just lost all the motivation when Miss Cecille threw me with one hand.
“Miss Asagao…you’re…incredibly light…”
“Ahehehe…”
Miss Cecille scratches the back of her head as she walks towards us with a complicated smile. Her gaze can be said to be both awed and relieved. She set down her spear and helped us both to get back on our feet.
I can’t believe that she was just going easy on us…
“I got to say, for small girls like you, you can move so much. Though a little clumsy and your strategies are nothing but swinging swords, I am quite amazed.”
It was not a compliment that I wanted to hear but being too greedy about it won’t get me anywhere. She is modest and honest about it so I’ll take it into the heart.
Even Daisy sprouts a face showing awe and respect towards Miss Cecille.
“I was utterly put down like a small cub!”
“Aren’t you a small cub?”
“No, I am a full-fledged lady!”
Lady you say.
That’s how Daisy answered my retort…
“Well, that’s that! The battle has concluded! Thank you for participating, Cecille!”
“Tzari, this is just too roundabout.”
“Yeah but, I’d rather have them show their potential through their actions.”
“Goodness, I did the most minimal way to prevent hurting them too much…”
Miss Cecille then approached us and pet our head in unison.
One thing if Fonfon did this but, Miss Cecille is just too rough. It’s like she got used petting Alstroe with too much force.
Daisy wags her tail though like she is being praised.
“Say…you two.”
“What is it?”
Miss Cecille showed us a gentle smile but at the same time, we witnessed her face turning ghastly pale.
“Please don’t report me.”
“We won’t! At best, it would have been better if you didn’t hold back!”
“No, no, no! That’s no good!”
I guess I can’t persuade her to do otherwise.
Then, Tzari approaches us with Alstroe riding on his shoulder.
I guess midway, Alstroe watched.
“Good job, you two.”
“Good job, Asagao and Daisy!”
Both Tzari and Alstroe said with a smile.
They weirdly synchronized with each other.
“I have seen what the two of you are capable and in the process, the level of your Ki, the path and teachings that perfectly fits you, and how are we going about with your training.”
Training…?
I’m not here for that!
“The result is, at its stands. For Asagao…yeah…you really don’t have any Ki in your body.”
“You said that from the very start. Also, I don’t plan on undertaking any training.”
“What a shame…I’d be more happier if I can train little girls.”
“Those words itself will get you in trouble!”
He looks so depressed when he uttered those words.
“You don’t know how it feels to teach burly men all day.”
“That’s your job.”
“Well, moving on.”
“You move on too fast!”
“As for Miss Daisy, she has a strong affinity with Strike Spec Ki.”
Now that’s a new word I just heard.
