“Higanbana, Beast Queen, best regards.”
I sprouted a quizzical and confused countenance, everyone does. Higan, of all people, marches right into this place and sat in the seat designated for King Folga. She then announces that she is the now the Beast Queen with a huge smug on her lips paired with her uncaring eyes.
Not long after that, Izuna, Higan’s mother, hurriedly entered the room together with King Folga and a small girl with lion ears, the same as King Folga.
I said small but she seems at the same age as Higan.
Finding King Folga entering the room, everyone’s gazes immediately looked at him as if their eyes presses him for an explanation.
However, contrary to everyone, even to my expectation that King Folga will tell off Higan, he just walks behind the chair where Higan is sitting and firmly position himself there.
“King Folga, care to give us an explanation of the situation about this? Have you conceded your title and position to Miss Higanbana?”
Gria asked King Folga with one eye closed and looks at him indifferently, however, his tone is someone pressing for answers as if Gria wants an answer.
“There’s no mistake about this. I am no longer bound to the throne nor the king. I am reduced to no more than a mere councilor for this child. That said, I, as the citizen of my own land, pledges to do my best for its sake.”
“Are you sure you are not growing senile? Are you sure you are not conceding your position to such girl to come terms with your own selfishness?”
“She chose it herself with eyes burning with passion. She challenged me to a duel and fought overwhelmingly.”
“A duel you say?
“Yeah! Ahahaha! Boy, she sure hits hard!”
“So we no longer address you as King, right? Therefore, Councilor Folga, if you truly conceded your authorities and rights to this young fox, let me ask this, did you fought using everything you have?”
“Hmph! Don’t be silly…”
“…”
“She’ll die if I do that. Just a mere mettle of her strength, aptitude to lead people, and knowledge that grows fast. Those are the qualifications I am looking for a leader.”
“I see, you do sure have chosen well. I just hope that you didn’t make a mistake…just like what I did for Cattleya.”
“I ain’t like you.”
I can tell where’s Gria pulling such emotion from.
The mistake of letting young children take responsibilities at such early age. It was nothing sort of dreamy and happy, in reality, it is just a torture for the young mind.
I heard it all from Diyu, of how she hated Gria not because her parents got separated but because Gria pushed every responsibilities for his selfish dream to Cattleya.
Even now, Diyu has a complicated countenance as she looks at Higan.
“Allow me to further explain that situation.”
Izuna’s voice rang out.
Fonfon who knew Izuna directed his attention to her and Hinoki Prasiolite, who knew her since young, looks at the fox woman with concerned eyes.
Hinoki Prasiolite, the Elven Queen, knew of Izuna’s plight and saw her grew up with her own lessons in life and knowledge leading her to be one of the Beast Generals for the former King Folga. Senya who knew both kept her lips quiet and just listens to what Izuna has to say.
On the other hand, Mimi who knew Izuna since childbirth and became her very own personal guardian as she grew up, looks at her with warm and gentle eyes like seeing a parent. Fang who is standing behind Senya also has such eyes befitting of her guardian.

“Everything is the truth. My daughter defeated King Folga and ascended to the title, however, to be more precise, she is still in a probationary until she reaches a suitable age.”
“Oh, so that’s how it is!”
“Yes, Demon Lord Gria. It is just that, my daughter, the new Beast Queen, wanted to be involved in this specific congregation. Once this is over, the authority will still be with her but as someone as twelve years of age, all responsibilities and burdens will be carried out by me and Councilor Folga in the meantime.”
“Magnifico! Such conditions…if…sooner or later, I have thought of that. Nevertheless, it is something I can accept. What about the rest of the people here?”
Gria said as he observes the rest of the Kings and Queens for any objections.
“As the King of the Humans, I don’t see any problems with this situation. Frankly, I have known Folga for quite a time and I can see that he has a good judgment or one can say instinct. My opinion is nothing short of same with Demon Lord Gria, I think the new Beast Queen shows promise.”
Fonfon said with a subtle of biases that I could only point out. Not that I can repeal his words by saying Higan was a good choice for the new leader of the beasts.
I myself have personally experienced King Folga’s heart attitude, but never would I have thought that Fonfon regards him in a better spotlight.
“As a De Facto representative, I cannot claim any rights to judge such decision. Any opinion that I may speak of is due to personal reasons so it is better for me not to mention anything.”
Priscilla said as she closes her eyes in resignation, however, her grand demeanor didn’t even diminish.
“I can vouch for the same for me. I am none other but a representative for the Fairy Kin. I am left with all the decision making and I am confident to say personally that there wouldn’t be any problem if the terms for Queen Higanbana to hold every power will be stabilized once she comes to at right age.”
Senya said with approving gesture. They are doing really great not to oppose Higan’s wish.
“Aight, no need to interfere with furballs. Do what they like, I don’t like them anyway.”
Simply said by the Dwarven King. It’s a relief that he isn’t too much of an asshole to pick on Higanbana at this point. I’d be raising my sword against him if he gets violent against Higan.
“As for me, Queen Higanbana is a good and dear friend to Casablanca and Hibiscus, my dear daughters. It’s painful for me to watch someone like her standing on the same ground as us seeing that she hasn’t even reached a suitable age. I want to probe on this problem a little longer if you allow it, current host of the congregation, Demon Lord Gria Hellbeing.”
“Granted.”
I know that she is just showing her genuine concern but I didn’t expect that out of all people here, Elven Queen Hinoki Prasiolite would give a little opposition to this. Her words are carefully picked but the tone of her voice has a certain weight into it.
“The problem here first and foremost is that even if it is probationary, Miss Higanbana is still a child regardless of conditions and the situation. She may already be qualified for the position, but the image of a child taking the throne and title may harm our very images too.”
“What are you into, Queen Hinoki?”
“That’s the second, image. People might get mislead that they can be a king or queen at such young age which may give rise to a further revolt of people in the future. We certainly want to reduce such chances or probability of that to arise.”
“You are certainly giving out your points and it is all making sense. Not to mention, at such young age, the mind is still feeble and trusting that people behind the scene may manipulate her…”
Every possibility arises that’s giving a crack of doubts in the air. A strain has been revealed and further contemplation may lead to a complete halt of the congregation temporarily.
To be honest, I don’t want Higan to be the Beast Queen too. If that happens, in the future, we may not have time with each other anymore.
“You people have been running your mouths about me. Have I given my own opinion and answers yet?”
Suddenly, Higan spoke out of the blue. It startles Gria and Hinoki but for me, I just thought that it’s about time for her to say something about the current situation.
“I am not forced into the position, I forced myself into it.”
“Why would you do that?”
“Politics, economics, foreign and local relations, everything. I have developed an interest in them a year ago and it is not even an exaggeration to say that I am knowledgeable about our current political system, economic woes, and much more.”
“Wait…interest you say, Queen Higanbana? Do you mean that there are other pressing matters other than those if you only developed an interest in them?”
“Those interests are not lacking to lead such subjects under me. But you are right, I have my very own personal reason for doing this. It is my foremost goal in doing this.”
As Higan ended her speech that baffled everyone in the room, she reaches out for her pocket. My gaze instantly fell on her hand as she took out something from her pocket, firmly grasped it, and put it down on the table.
Gasps can be heard as Higan shows what’s inside her hand. Even I cannot believe it that she wields something.
“Is that…a wedding band?!”
“Truth be told, I have already someone in mind, however, I want to take control of everything first before asking for another proposal.”
“You are the one doing the proposal?! What are you even thinking that you need to reveal such information in front of us?”
“This is deeply tied to what’s may come next, for the future of our land that is.”
“Who…did you proposed to then?”
Ah…wait…
Higan’s gaze suddenly falls on me and everyone follows the direction where her eyes look at. Attention suddenly draws towards me and I felt everyone’s gaze that goosebump started prickling my neck.
“You don’t mean…”
“That’s right, I have proposed to Asagao Lionheart, the sister of King Ashfon Astlan Lionheart. If the Beast and the Human Kingdom becomes connected to such tight binding, we can bolster more powerful ties that could lead to an explosive boost in economic trade between us.”
“I see…land is to sea and sea is to land. You think well, Beast Queen Higanbana. The rotation for the trades will be even more productive than before…you are quite a feisty one.”
Everyone furrowed their eyebrows as they heard of Higan’s aspiration. It seems they are thinking that such circumstance is a blessing…
However…
The lack of response from her words about proposing to me is scary to a degree. I mean, did they already accepted that a relationship between girls is acceptable?
“So, I believe that your proposal is not an empty vow?”
“I dearly love Asagao Lionheart.”
“As I said earlier, you are quite a feisty one to boldly announce your love. Nevertheless, you have proven miniscule of your worth. By all means, I guess there’s no more objection, right?”
“I have no more qualms.”
“Then let’s proceed with the congregation!”
Gria shouted.
