Chapter 245: A World the Girl Wanted to See 1

Kill.

I am just a being that kills.

I am a devil that takes a form of a snake and crawls underneath the land. I find a suitable prey and drag them down under the earth and constrict it to death.

There was no satisfaction or guilt on the act itself. It was just a given instinct to us by our Lord. I can feel neither joy nor sadness, just pure hunger insatiable however I devour living creatures, people or beast, none could quench it.

I kill and kill and kill until I am killed.

After that, my very essence return to Erestivatria, a paradise for us devils, a place where we are infinitely reborn even though we are killed restlessly. We may even call it our Eden.

After I am reborn again, I set out to the passage of evil and repeat the one thing we live for.

Kill.

I am just a being that kills.

Kill and kill and kill until I am killed again. I don’t care who, I don’t care why, if I get killed, then that’s it. I don’t fear death and I don’t fear to kill.

Together with the other devils, we rampage on the land and wreak havoc to places for as long as I can remember. No words, no transient mind, not even a hint of emotions, we are beings solely for carnage, dyeing the whole world in red.

Kill.

Kill.

Kill.

Kill.

Kill.

A maddening repetitive action that we always carry out for our lord for reasons unknown to us.

I slither beneath the earth, drag any living creature and kill them, nothing more nothing less. Some devils acquire arcana magic through their own achievements that made them have some added functionality and desire.

As such, they do things that deviate from normal devils, but in the end, we just kill and kill and kill.

No name, no identity, no discerning form, just a devil that only known as murderers.

.

.

.

“Hey! Topaz! Wake up! Topaz!!”

Someone…calls out to my name. My mind can’t respond well and I feel so hazy. I slowly open my eyes, albeit a little blurry. My head hurts a little and I cannot comprehend what’s happening yet.

When I came to, I became baffled by what’s happening in front of me.

I was lying down on the dirty ground, however, that was not my concern. In front of me, Mimi is fighting with her skeletal claw and wings drawn out. She was fighting against…

Oh no…

A…A devil general? It’s Devil VII!

Devil VII uses to double edged twin daggers and inflict fatal wounds. It’s swift and has a better precognition than normal general. It may not use any large scale spells but it can be deadly in a face off. It dons light leather armors and a scary mask that hides its face. It’s light on its feet and can do acrobatic maneuvers.

It can only deflect incoming magic with its dagger and can sense any spells being cast that give it a leeway to flee.

This explains why Mimi is so battered and full of bruises. It’s amazing how she was able to keep up with it.

“Topaz!! Hey!”

“Mimi!”

“Thank goodness! Mimi…while we are running off earlier, this chump caught up with us.”

“Mimi, that’s Devil VII! It’s--!”

“Doesn’t matter! Listen well to me Topaz!”

“Are you going to make me run?”

“Nyahaha! Good girl! Now, go!”

“No.”

“Thought so…you really are bothersome!”

“You just said I am a good girl…”

“Don’t sweat it…”

BAKIN!

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Mimi immediately reacted to Devil VII attack and blocked with her claw. She tried to counterattack but it was too fast for her large skeletal claws to catch up.

“Hurry up! Run away!”

“Can’t you just use your other form?”

“I can’t. I don’t have enough magical energy.”

“Eh? Why?”

“This guy has been draining it off from me. I should have used it earlier when I had the chance!”

She only has three cuts so far. Devil VII drains magic through his attacks. Every single time it cuts its opponent, it drains magical energy. The deeper the cut the more magical energy will be drained. If Devil VII manages to make to stab you, it will drain more, mostly, most of your magical energy.

Devil VII was about to attack again but in the spur of the moment, it jumps back with great distance. The reason is…

BAM!

A golden flurry of flame assaulted the place. It exploded so strong that the ground got gouged. Mimi immediately jumps back to my side.

“Oh!!~ A reinforcement!”

From the sky, a white with beautiful white hair, tails, and ears appeared riding the wind with her umbrella outstretch towards the land where she fired the flames earlier. It was Higanbana, Asagao’s friend.

She comes down slowly to us while her radiating divine aura shines all over the place. It kind of stings but it is not unbearable.

Devil VII becomes more cautious as it kept its distance to us.

“You look like a shit.”

“That’s mean of you Miss Higanbana!”

“At the very least, you kept cute little Topaz safe, I commend you for that.”

“Ain’t I cute too?”

“Your appearance matters not to me anymore.”

“I feel like I am getting an unjust treatment here…”

“Shush. More battling.”

“Ah! Careful! That thing drains magical power!”

Higanbana just nods her head before they charge at Devil VII. With swirling golden flame around here, Higanbana fires several humongous fireballs that could melt an entire house while Mimi flies towards the sky.

However, Devil VII hasn’t used its specialty yet.

Before the flame could devour Devil VII, it jumps head on to the flames used its ability… spatial shifting.

“Eh?!”

“Woah! That’s cool!”

Devil VII flew past the fireballs. Higanbana is not unprepared. She immediately maneuvers to evade the incoming attack. However, it was her own fault because she underestimated Devil VII to a fault leading to the next scenario.

Blood flew and splatters on the ground. Devil VII landed with its dagger tainted with fresh blood and the one who fell to the ground is Higanbana.

Her flank was stabbed.

It was her fault for thinking that a devil general doesn’t have a mind of its own, that it doesn’t have any capabilities of analyzing its opponent. Devil Generals are like fallen heroes that use vast knowledge of combat to fight against an opponent.

As such, she loses to Devil VII due to her lack of experience.

Devil VII knew that Higanbana lost most of her magical power and can barely stand up so it charges to her for the kill.

“Hey! Look here!”

Mimi appeared from above and swings a skeletal tail to Devil VII which created a gust. In response, Devil VII jumps backward to avoid. Devil VII can also use his spatial shifting to his dagger, and thus, was able to slash Higanbana even with the difference in distance.

I think Mimi already knew about it so she was cautious about it but can’t put into words how it works. Mimi is clearly a veteran fighter, one that topples Higanbana’s battle experience.

And I can’t say a word about it. I was trying to earlier, however, to me, Devil VII is the rightful ally here…

We are both devils, we are both created by one God and given one mission in life.

“I was careless…ack..!”

“Don’t talk! It’s not your fault. That thing is extremely different from other devils after all. Can you still keep your divine ascension?”

“Yes, however, it’s a little hard for me to fight with it alone. My skill in Ki is not quite yet reliable too.”

“Well, I won’t let you fight anyway with that wound!”

They are already trapped.

Devil VII cannot be defeated with mere tricks and such. I can just sit here and let him end everything.

“Topaz!!”

Mimi carried Higanban in her arms and flew towards me. Devil VII tried to attack them by throwing its dagger however, Mimi sacrificed her left shoulder as a shield from it and swings her tail when Devil VII followed the attack.

She landed in front of me lay down the bleeding Higanbana. She desperately tried to clog up the wound with a cloth. The blood doesn’t stain on the dress since it is a dragon fiber but it could not defend from Devil VII attack.

It’s horrifying.

“Topaz! Please, right now, please…take her and run away.”

“You?”

“I don’t matter anymore!”

STAB!

A dagger flew to Mimi’s back. Blood started spewing from her mouth as she tried to clench her teeth. Devil VII slowly walks to us with another set of daggers in its hands.

It’s an impending doom. They could have had the upper hand if they just straight up bombed it with magic rather than trying to face it off. It was just a difference in fighting experience and potential after all.

“Mimi…”

“Run away! I can’t run away with you! I have to protect you!”

“Is it because Asagao ordered you to…”

“No! I would have protected you even if she didn’t order me to!”

“Why?”

“Because we are friends! You feel it too right?! The bonds that we had, even though for a short time! Those precious moments, even though initially, I tried to kill you, however, right now, it is different. I want to save you!”

“Why…are you saying all of this now…?”

“We also promised each other right? Ah…but I guess we can’t anymore…”

“Mimi…”

STAB!

Another dagger flew to her right leg and she fell down on her one knee.

“Topaz…sorry…I can’t anymore…our promise. You should go with Asagao. There are lots of things for you to see. I already have lived my life for so long… I should know when it’s about my time…”

“Mi…mi…”

She smiles at me…

And turn her back to face Devil VII again.

Why?

Why does she have to do this?

I don’t even know why I am here. I don’t even know why I am given these useless emotions. I am devil…

Gaining a sense of my own didn’t make me better. As I learn through life, I just felt a strangling opposition from my natural instinct from the happiness and tranquility that everyone gave me.

Emotions are a curious concept.

I can never ever fathom it or understand what’s good about it.

What I know is I am torn apart between the guilt of killing so many lives in my past and myself who clings to happiness that I indulge in.

All of these things…I don’t understand.

As I think of this in my mind…it becomes hazy again…my consciousness slowly drifts away and a sharp sound came to my ear as I close my eyes which the last thing I saw is Mimi’s back who is about to fight Devil VII…

.

.

.

As I regain consciousness, no, I didn’t. it is more accurate that my consciousness itself is transported to another place.

For the reason that space is distorted as I can only see starry night sky around me, however, it was not somewhere in our world, it’s a place with only pillars and a throne where a lone man sits.

An unbelievable world that shows the very space itself as stars and constellation scatters everywhere.

“Welcome, my child.”

The man from the throne stands up.

He is a tall man with armor as deeps as the night sky. A cape of pure atrocity flutters as he walks toward me. His eye has a deep golden color and his hair is of a hue of black that grows up to his neck.

This man…exudes a presence that could only equal a god.

It’s our god, Eresti…
