The Reaper And The Chimera

The Reaper And The Chimera

Somewhere in the city, someone was sitting on a ledge looking at the city through a binoculars.

“Wow, look at them go. When they let go of all pretense, humans really are nothing but animals.”

This person was dressed in a dark colored vest with a red dress shirt underneath, he had dark colored jeans with a chain on the side, high boots with buckles on it, and a pair of stylish gloves.

He was extremely handsome, had a perfect mix of purple and azure hair, and bloody red eyes.

“Oh shit! That old woman just smack that man with a golf stick! Go granny go!”

He shouted.

“You’re making quite a racket for someone who snuck into the city.”

He turned around after hearing a familiar voice behind him.

“May I inquire as to why you’re here, Alec of the Blood Flame.”

Asked Mari.

“I wondered who it was, but isn’t it MYTH’s Doll Princess.”

Said Alec.

“Don’t call me that.”

“My bad.”

Alec answered with a smile.

“Alec of the Blood Flame, why are you here?”

Mari asked again.

“Hey, how many lives does this make it for you now? Your 5th? Your 20th? Your 100th?”

“Answer my question.”

Mari said with a n irritated tone.

Alec laughed before answering.

“It isn’t that hard to figure out why I’m here though. I’m from the Day Continent, there aren’t much that would make me travel all the way here. Well, if I heard that this city had an once in a million years beauty and a millennium old liquor then I would gladly take the trip.”

Alec said while laughing, while Mari had a frown on her face.

Seeing that Alec sighed.

“My progenitor is in the city, so I thought that I would come to see her. Well, I’m pretty sure she sensed my arrival a long time ago.”

“How did you know that she was here? All information channels are blocked here. No news can leave or enter the city. So it shouldn’t be possible to know what’s going on in the city from the outside, much less a continent away.”

“I have my ways.”

Alec said with a smile.

Mari stared at him for a while before sighing in defeat.

“I guess a genius is a genius. Especially when they’re hailed as a Millennium Genius.”

A Millennium Genius is someone who is hailed as the greatest genius in the last thousand years. Nobody else can hope to compete against this level of talent in that era.

“That’s just the praise of the masses. It isn’t worth much. I would prefer a sexy big breasted lady holding a bottle of booze any day over empty praises.”

Alec made a drinking gesture as he said that.

“Even so it’s a well deserved title for someone who created a power that rendered Classes useless in a fight. I mean a 12 year old S Class killing a SSS Class in a straight up fight without the use of any weapons or outside help? That’s unheard of.”

“Believe it or not that’s not my proud feat. My proudest feat is waking up in a bed naked with a mother, her two daughters, and her sister. It’s also my greatest regret since I can’t remember what happened the night before because I got too drunk.”

Alec said as he shook his head in disappointment.

“If I remember correctly, the last person to be hailed as a Millennium Genius was your leader, Miguel.”

“That’s right. And the kaiser created such a powerful organization that helped New Era reach a new level.”

“And you guys thought that since I’m of the same level of genius or maybe higher, I’ll be a great asset to you guys as well?”

Mari nodded.

“You who made the Blood Flame, which is arguably the deadliest flame in the world, will most definitely become the future of this world.”

“You do know that me joining you people while knowing what you’re really planning is equivalent to betraying my clan right? Are you asking me to betray my clan in a city with my progenitor in it? You know she can hear us right?”

Mari laughed.

“You and I both know that you’re not someone who let familial bonds drag you down.”

“Well, that’s true.”

Alec didn’t deny Mari’s words.

“But your side has yet to meet my demands.”

Hearing that Mari frowned.

“That’s because they’re too unreasonable.”

“What’s unreasonable about it?”

Alec then said-

“Just give the world’s most beautiful woman and wine from Mount Olympus and I’ll join.”

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

“Everything about that is unreasonable. First of all, there’s no telling who is the most beautiful woman in the world. Secondly, Olympus cannot be entered my mortals without an Olympian’s permission.”

“Then I’ll change my demands.”

Alec smiled before saying-

“Give me a Phoenix.”

“…..What?”

Alec’s demand seemed to have short circuit Mari for a bit.

“You heard me. Bring me a Phoenix.”

“Are you mad? The Phoenixes are gone. No one knows where they went.”

“Is that really the case?”

Alec said with a weird smile on his face.

It was as if he was mocking Mari’s lack of knowledge. She began to wonder if he knew something.

Of course she had no way of telling, since Alec wasn’t someone that could be easily understood.

Despite being a genius among geniuses his only goal in life is to have fun.

Even his famous Blood Flame was something he created on whim. And he didn’t even cared that it provoked the entire vampire race because of it being based of their blood manipulating abilities.

When it came to unpredictability, only a few like Nero and Nova could beat him.

“Ah, but I need to correct you about something you said earlier, Doll Princess.”

Hearing him say that, Mari looked at him with askance.

Alec ignored it and said-

“I’m not the one who will become the future of the world. That title belongs to my cousin from the Primus Branch.”

*Boom!*

The war in the city was getting more out of control by the minute. Among the people who were fighting for a cause, certain people appeared who just wanted to add to the chaos and take out their frustrations on society by rioting.

*Boom!*

They attacked anyone they came across and destroyed any property they could get their hands on.

Of course, their actions were intolerable by many.

Especially those with a strong sense of justice.

“You people are nothing but scum.”

*Boom!*

A thug who was running around breaking windows suddenly exploded.

*Boom!*

A thug who was spray painting public buildings, and one who was randomly attacking people quickly followed suit.

“Because of you scum I’m always being sidetracked from finding Jin Makoto. After I deal with him I’ll crush the Heavenly Demon King and then Luna Isabel.”

Andre snapped his fingers and more and more thugs started exploding like bloody fireworks.

“Tch! This many scums started showing themselves only after this war started….Maybe I should destroy both sides?”

Said Andre.

It was at this moment that he heard a strange sound.

He turned and shock covered his face when he saw what it was.

“What the hell is that?!”

Somewhere else in the city.

Jin Makoto leaned on a bike smoking a cigarette. He was looking towards the people who were running around creating havoc with a rather disappointed look.

“I never knew that you smoked.”

That’s when he heard a very familiar voice.

He turned to his side and saw Kaido walking towards him.

He smiled and replied.

“I don’t. Just figured that I’ll try it before I go.”

“So it’s like something on your bucket list?”

“Well you can say that.”

Jin flicked the cigarette with his finger as if he was done with it.

“So? How was it?”

Kaido asked.

“If I gotta be honest, it was pretty awful but I can see myself getting use to it.”

“Does that mean that you intend to live?”

“Who knows? I don’t really care anymore to be honest.”

Jin said with a shrug.

“Anyway, I doubt you came here to discuss dirty habits.”

Jin smiled as he observed Kaido.

“It looks like you’ve removed those pesky restrictions. I take it that means that you’re ready for a life and death battle.”

Kaido didn’t immediately answer and silently looked at Jin for a while.

“They have Hana.”

“….Well, I expected as much.”

“You knew that this would happen?”

Jin shrugged.

“It wasn’t that hard to predict if you think about it. Blanche recently joined the Syndicate, right?”

Kaido nodded.

“Then that means that he would be hungry for achievements to prove his worth. Blanche being the smart person he is would realize that the best chance to do so would be during this war. Since he can’t fight, he would naturally look for another way to contribute to the Syndicate.”

Jin pointed at Kaido.

“He could supply the Syndicate with a powerful fighter, and who better than you who could fight ‘equally’ with the city’s death god?”

Jin emphasized on the word “Equally”.

“But Blanche probably believed that you wouldn’t come willingly so he kidnapped the only person close to you as insurance.”

“If you knew that this would happen, why didn’t you tell me?”

Kaido said with a slightly angry tone.

“Oh? Looks like you can show your emotions a bit better now.”

Kaido didn’t respond and just glared at him.

“Does it really matter why I didn’t warn you? I mean why should have I? That’s your problem. You needed to solve it yourself.”

He smiled.

“Besides if I did we wouldn’t be facing each other now.”

Jin got off the bike and looked at Kaido provocatively.

“I know that you’re here to take my head and use it to bargain for Hana’s safe return. I mean if you actually took me down that would be seen as a great achievement.”

The aura around Jin changed and he entered his Night Form.

“So let’s cut to chase and start our death battle. Let’s see if you have what it takes to kill me.”

“…….”

Kaido didn’t deny Jin’s words.

He had came here to kill Jin who worked for the Pillars and used that to show his “loyalty” to the Syndicate and possibly gain the chance to meet Hana.

It was a naïve plan but it was worth the try.

Kaido just needed a chance to meet Hana. After that everything else would work out. He would risk his life and take her back in an instant and escape.

Even if they both couldn’t escape, he was certain that he could allow Hana to escape if he stalled the Syndicate. After all, other than Tang there was no one in the Syndicate who could take him down.

It was for this reason why he came here to make it happen.

He silently took a fighting stance and glared at Jin. Jin on the other hand looked rather excited to fight Kaido.

“Let’s go!”

Jin kicked off the ground and charged towards Kaido.

Kaido stood his ground and lifted his arms like he was a boxer.

Jin was the one who threw the first punch.

Kaido dodged it and slammed his fist in Jin’s stomach.

*Boom!*

The heavy punch was like an explosion when it came in contact with Jin’s body.

However, half of it was negated by Jin’s blackhole body.

“My turn!”

*Boom!*

Jin kneed Kaido in the chest and quickly spun around and swung his leg like whip and kicked Kaido on the side of his head.

However, Kaido’s head didn’t budge.

He grabbed Jin’s leg and slammed him on the ground like a hammer.

*Boom!*

He then stomp Jin in the chest and caused the ground to crack.

“Guh?!”

Jin coughed up blood and smiled.

“Damn, you’re heavy.”

He pushed Kaido off him and quickly stood up, and bend his back to dodge a kick from Kaido.

Kaido didn’t let up on his assault and continuously threw kicks aiming to shatter Jin’s skull.

Jin ducked under the kicks and gave Kaido a few quick jabs before retreating under the threat of the kicks.

Kaido charged towards him and threw a powerful punch. Jin lifted both arms to block it.

*Boom!*

Jin was like a rocket that was launched, as he was blown backwards.

*Boom!*

He crashed into a building and caused it to crumble.

While the debris of concrete were falling down, Kaido rushed forward eager to finish Jin off.

*Boom!*

He threw another punch and every ounce of concrete that made up the building were like leaves in the wind as they were blown away by the force that Kaido’s punch produced.

When the dust clear only an empty plot with a trench was left of the building.

Jin was nowhere to be seen.

*Boom!*

That’s when a sword of black flames burst from underground and pierced through Kaido.

Jin appeared from underground with the black flame sword in his hand.

“You’ve let your guard down.”

As he said that, Kaido moved and grabbed his face.

“No, I didn’t.”

*Boom!*

Jin’s head was smashed into the ground by Kaido. He then lifted Jin by his face and started squeeze it.

*Crack!*

Cracking sounds could be heard coming from Jin’s skull as Kaido continued to tighten his grip.

“Ow! Ow! Ow!”

Jin exclaimed while having his skull crushed.

His aura suddenly changed again and he entered his Day Mode.

“While I want to die, I prefer not to go by having skull crushed.”

*Boom!*

A burst of electricity entered Kaido’s body and forced him to let go.

Jin then created a ball of light in his hand and slammed it on Kaido’s chest.

*Boom!*

Kaido’s chest was burst open and blood sprayed everywhere.

Jin moved to follow up, but-

“Hold up! Don’t start the fight without me!”

He stopped when he heard another familiar voice.

He turned and saw Miko landing out of the sky with his dragon wings.

Miko looked at the two and smiled.

“You can’t have a death match and not include me.”
