The next day the kingdom was once again bustling. However, this wasn't the excited or good kind.
Everyone was tense.
That was because the news that came out from the High Class District.
Seven Noble families were purged overnight!
Not a single member survived.
That wasn't the only thing.
The heads of four other noble families were tied to a pole naked in front of their homes for all to see.
“They can't do this to my mother!”
A noble man shouted in frustration.
His mother was left naked in the sun, for the world to see.
The sight of his mother sobbing stabbed at his heart.
“I'm going to free her!”
The man ran and pushed the guards out of his way.
“Move! Do you know who I am?!”
He forced his way until he stood under his mother.
“Mot-”
“It seems that I'm not really respected.”
The man froze when he heard a voice behind him.
He tried to turn around, but his world suddenly started spinning.
He heard something go “thud”.
That's when a headless body came into view.
‘Isn't that my body?’
That was his last thought before his vision was cut in two.
“Derekkkkkk!”
The woman screamed out in horror when she saw her son getting beheaded before having his head cut in two.
“Looks like there are still some people who needs to be educated on who is their king.”
The one who said that was obviously Miko.
He used a cloth a servant gave him to wipe his sword blade.
He then looked up at the sobbing woman.
“Looks like I'll have to purge your entire family to send the message.”
The woman shivered when she heard that.
“Please, Your Majesty! It was my stupid son's mistake! He was impulsive!”
“And whose fault is it that he grew up to be such a person?”
Miko threw a cold glance at her. She hurriedly shut her mouth.
“Well I'm in a good mood. So I'll let it slide this once.”
The woman's eyes brighten when she heard that.
“Burn her and choose a new family head. Preferably someone of great ability.”
“?!”
The woman was shocked pale.
She didn't even get time to plea before a servant threw gasoline on her and lit her with a spark.
“Haaaaaaaaaa?!”
The woman's agonizing screams echoed through her residence, causing all who heard it to tremble in fear.
Miko took a simple glance at her before turning around to leave.
“Burn the son’s corpse as well.”
“Yes, my lord.”
The man's corpse was also set ablaze.
Miko walked away leaving a mother and son on fire.
He disappeared after his third step.
Miko reappeared on a building top in the Middle Class District.
“Quite the ruthless king, I see.”
Luka appeared out of a shadow.
“What? Dissatisfied?”
“Not at all. That family is known for kidnapping and selling children to other nobles and anyone who can afford it. I once destroyed one of their hideouts and freed the children, but it didn't stop them. They deserved whatever they get.”
Luka said with a snort.
“I see.”
Miko then looked like he remembered something.
“Ah, yes. Did you get any update from your people?”
“Robin said that everything is going as planned. It won't be long before now.”
A year ago when Aeon was gathering everyone to train for the Throne Wars, he passed on a message from Miko to Luka.
After receiving that messaging, Luka reluctantly sent all the members of Fate outside of country to complete certain tasks.
This was the reason why they were no where to be seen during Throne Wars.
“So what are you going to do now?”
Luka asked.
“I heard that in the years that I've been gone, some new big shots emerged in the crime world. Not only that, because the borders are now open hundreds of dangerous outlaws ran in intending to make a name for themselves. Some really strong outlaws.”
Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.
Miko's eyes shone a curious light.
“I want spend sometime and meet these ‘outlaws’. Maybe we can come to some agreement that will benefit us both.”
“Do you need help?”
Miko shook his head.
“I can handle this myself.”
He then looked at Luka.
“Speaking of which, what is the situation between you and the flameheart clan? Do you still blame them for your parents’ deaths?”
Luka shook her head.
“After thinking about it for awhile, I realized that it would be wrong to blame them. They were only carrying out their duty and was being a bit overprotective of my mother.”
“Oh? That's a mature way to look at it.”
“Well, I'm a mature person.”
“Mature person, huh?”
Miko approached her.
“If that's the case, then why are you deliberately avoiding them?”
“T-That's…”
She turned her face away from him as if embarrassed.
Miko laughed when he saw that.
“It's okay. If you're not ready then just take your time.”
He placed his hand on her head and brought her face closer to his until their foreheads touch.
“No matter your choice I'll support it.”
Luka's face was suddenly flushed. She could only nod slightly.
Miko moved his head back and smiled at her.
“Well, I should get going.”
He then turned around and walked away leaving Luka with her heart racing.
Miko appeared in Robber’s Den.
He looked around and saw a lot of people with malicious expressions.
“Hmm….this place looks a lot worse than I remembered it. Could it be because no one was controlling them anymore.”
Five years ago Miko took control of the kingdom's crime world, but he shortly after he was brought to Dragna clan. But he managed to leave it in Luka's hands before he left.
However Aeon came along and kidnapped she and Fate. He managed it in their stead for two years. Luka took back control for another two years.
But a year ago Luka and Fate had to give up control, which resulted in several territories being up for grabs.
A territorial war broke out which caused the crime rate to skyrocket.
In the end Robber’s Den became even worse than before.
Miko walked through the streets while observing the area.
Even though he was probably the most popular person in the kingdom, not one person looked his way.
That was because they couldn't see him.
Miko was currently using the assassin technique [Stealth-Camouflage]. So unless someone here was a Qi master, then he won't be detected.
“Now then, who can tell me who the bigshots are and where I can find them?”
Miko started looking around.
Suddenly he spotted a skinny man trying his hardest not to draw attention to himself, while he observed everything around him.
“Bingo.”
Miko happily approached this man with a smile. Of course the man couldn't see him.
Miko grabbed this man and covered him with [Stealth-Camouflage]. If someone was watching, they would see the skinny man vanish in thin air.
“Wha?! What's happening?!”
The skinny man was shocked to be suddenly grabbed. He was shocked stiff when he saw who had grabbed him.
“King Miko?!”
He immediately tried to back away from Miko.
Miko's purge of 7 noble families had already reached his ears. He also knew that Miko had personally put the severed head of a man on the city gates, for all to see.
To him Miko was a demon in human skin.
“Good morning. What's your name, sir?”
Miko's words were polite but his tone was filled with bloodlust.
This caused the man to shiver in fear.
“I-I'm….They call me Bones, your majesty.”
“Bones, huh? It's quite fitting.”
Miko said with a smile.
“I would like to ask you some questions Bones. Is that okay with you?”
“O-Of course! Anything you want to know you can ask me! I'm the number 1 informant in Robber’s Den!”
“I see. I like your confidence in your skills. Okay, I trust you.”
Miko gripped his shoulder tighter.
“There are somethings I would really like to know.”
In a corner of Robber’s Den, there was an old building with two men guarding the front.
These men were [B Classes]. This level strength was once considered unbeatable by the common people.
But in front of Miko, it wasn't anything special.
Miko canceled [Stealth-Camouflage] and approached this building, wearing the same trench coat he did years ago.
He also had the same swords be used to slaughter dozens of criminals.
When the guards saw Miko approaching them, their eyes narrowed.
They recognized him but couldn't guess what he was doing here.
“Is this the headquarters of the top arms dealer, Iron Tooth?”
“Who wants to know?”
Miko couldn't help but to laugh when he heard that.
“I guess it was a waste of time asking you.”
*Boom!*
Miko casually punched out and blew the man's head off.
This scene drew the attention of everyone around the building.
The king just killed someone in broad daylight!
The other man tried to run, but before he could Miko's hand stabbed through his back and gripped his heart.
“Guh?!”
The man vomited out an ounce of blood when Miko crushed his heart.
Miko pulled out his hand, and the man dropped dead.
“I guess I'll just let myself in.”
Miko pushed open the door and entered the building under everyone's eyes.
*Boom!*
Explosions and gunshots suddenly could be heard coming from inside.
“Ahhhhhh?!”
Agonizing screams drowned out the gunshots.
After about a minute, silence surround the building.
After another minute Miko walked out the building with blood covering his body.
“Boss!”
At this moment, the Skinny man named Bones run up to Miko and handed him a handkerchief to wipe off the blood covering his face.
“Where's the next place?”
Miko asked while wiping the blood off his face.
“Follow me, my lord.”
Miko nodded and followed the skinny man.
The next couple days the news of Miko personally destroying gangs or putting them under his control spread through the whole kingdom.
In that time, it was common knowledge that the Blue Eyed Reaper who terrorized the crime world five years ago was Miko.
Everyone also knew that he was claiming back his territory.
Even though he ruled the kingdom on a face value, he also wanted to rule the kingdom's dark side.
Truly a tyrannical king!
Even though Miko was heartless towards the nobles and criminals, he was extremely kind towards the normal citizens.
He ordered the full reconstruction of the Lower Class District using the money of all the noble families he extermination.
He even put plans to expand the capital to accommodate at least a thousand more people into the action.
There were even rumors of him planning to develop the country side!
However no one could confirm this rumor. This was because it would cost an unbelievably amount of money to do it.
Where would the king get that much money?
“I want my allowance, so that I can develop the country.”
Said Miko.
He was standing in front of Nero who was eating pizza while getting a massage from a servant.
“Allowance? Ah, you mean your reward money for fighting in the war.”
He put down the pizza.
“Sure you can have it. If I remember correctly, you still had closely to a million Gold or 1000 paper notes, right?”
Miko nodded.
“But that won't be able to develop the kingdom to my desired level, so I'll have to find more ways to gather money.”
“I see. Then do as you wish. Just down rush things if you cant handle it.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
After he left the Primus World through the portal that was now in the palace, he left the royal district and returned to Robber’s Den.
He was now in a building that marked “The Royal Underworld Association” or the RUA for short.
That's right. Miko created a legal organization for criminals.
If one wanted to do criminal activities in the kingdom without the risk of being destroyed by Miko, they had to pay a fee and register at this organization.
Miko had no intention to try and rid the country of crime. He knew that such a thing was impossible. But he did want to have control of the major crimes in the city and profit off it.
The criminals would then be less of an outlaw and more of an adventurer registered under a guild.
Ordinary people could even come to the association and hire a criminal.
You want someone to die? Hire RUA assassin.
You want to rob someone? Then hire a thief.
It was that simple.
It might sound like something that would surely fail, but Miko made steps that it wouldn't.
First he killed the leader of every big criminal organization and pick a new one that was under a [Soul Contract] to run them.
He then used them to suppress all the small time criminals in the country, and made it hard for them to work.
Of course they have the opinion of leaving the country, but that would mean starting over from scratch in a new environment.
Not everyone were willing to do that.
So they had no choice but to bend to Miko's will.
Of course, he couldn't control everything. He wasn't a god. So naturally there would be holes in the system.
But the holes weren't big enough to cause the entire plan to fail.
What Miko did could be called "not a way a king should behave" or "morally wrong".
But in Miko's words-
“I don't give a fuck.”
He simply didn't care how strangers saw him, his goal is to create an empire and as quickly as possible.
But before he can do that, he needs to reinforce his kingdom. Even if he has to use some cruel methods.
Because of this, Miko was seen in a odd light.
A king who was kind to the common people, but ruthless to those with power.
Someone who clearly didn't follow common sense, and was pretty much the devil.
Someone who clearly wants to develop his kingdom and ease the people's suffering.
A crime lord who is also a king.
After considering all this, Miko was given a title by the people.
The Heavenly Demon King.
A being who is benevolent like a Buddha at one point, but evil enough to scare the devil next.
Truly a name to be feared.
