Mythical Conquest
The Gloves Are Off

The Gloves Are Off

Dragna Palace.

It’s been two days since Miko has returned to the kingdom. In those two days he did his best to reconcile with his brother, but Kristen just wouldn’t listen.

He was dead set on avoiding Miko. This caused Miko to become upset as well as Sasha.

Miko decided to give his brother space and started to resume his duties as king.

He was currently sitting in the great hall of the palace at the head of a table.

At the table were Hina, Luka, Edward, Ace, Sora, Leon, Jin, Bloom, Mayumi, and Kaido.

“Okay, the first thing I want to do is to state that everyone here is a general. Any objections?”

“Is it alright to have so many Generals?”

Ace asked.

“The more the better. Considering what my plans for the future are, I can’t be lacking on talented people.”

Miko answered.

“If this is a meeting between you and the generals what about Miss Sasha and Momo?”

Luka asked.

“Sasha isn’t in the mood for a meeting so she’s absent.”

Leon answered.

“As for Momo, she wasn’t invited because of safety reasons."

"Whose?"

"My own."

Miko answered.

“I gathered you all here today to discuss your future roles and what is to come.”

Miko then gestured over to his left where Bloom and the rest of the Grim City group sat.

“First, Edward will be in charge of the Royal Underworld Association or RUA for short. His experience in the crime world is second to none and he also possesses great management skill. Plus being my partner for almost a year has shown him how I like to do things. Isn’t that right, Edward?

“I won’t disappoint you, Don.”

Miko nodded.

“Ah, by the way. Edward will also double as our technology minister. His powers are perfect for it after all and he’s quite experience with MYTH’s technology so he might be able replicate them in the future.”

“Oh? That’s pretty amazing.”

Leon muttered with a smile.

“Next is Mayumi, you all are aware of her ability by now.”

“Mayumi, How many wives will I have?!!”

Ace suddenly stood up and shouted.

“Will Miko ever accept his femininity?!”

Sora stood up and shouted.

*Bam!*

They were both silenced with a kick to the head by Hina and obediently sat back down.

“I like I was saying. Mayumi will join my mother as my advisor. I’m sure you all agree that her powers are the best for that position.”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

“Next is Bloom, I’ll like her and Silver Crow act as the official law enforcement organization in the kingdom. Of course, they’ll receive more members, but the original 6 will act as the core with Bloom as the leader.”

“Then what happens to the Royal Corps?”

Leon asked.

“The Royal Corps will be something like a special task force that only moves when there’s a threat to the country’s overall public order. For example, let’s say that there’s a criminal that Silver Crow can’t stop on their own you’ll move. However your main job is to act as the military and protect the country from outside forces.”

“So basically, we’re the country’s official army and I’m its commander. That’s a lot of power for someone like me. I’ll take it.”

Leon said with a playful smile.

Miko nodded.

“Ace and Sora, you two have been assisting my father so I’ll like you to continue to do that. However, I’ll give authority over the nobles to Luka. In return your job is to grow as strong as possible as fast as possible.”

“No problem. We’ll just go train back with our masters.”

Said Sora.

“Speaking of which, have you seen Aeon Ace?”

Miko asked.

“Nope. Haven’t seen him since your Inauguration.”

“I see.”

Miko thought about it for awhile and then turned to Sora and Hina.

“Are you two still being trained by Nova?”

Hina nodded.

“Hina and Nova seem to get along pretty well. They’re pretty similar.”

Sora added.

“What about you, Luka? Is Nero still training you?”

“Just when he’s bored. Well, I’ll admit that it’s thanks to him that I’ve grown so strong.”

Luka replied.

“By the way, I’m still training with Raven.”

Leon added as if he didn’t want to be left out.

‘These guys were being trained by some big shots? That explains their strength.’

Bloom thought to herself.

“I see. Well, let’s get back on topic.”

Said Miko.

He looked at Luka.

“I would like to add Jin to your Black Hornet. Is that okay?”

“……..”

Luka didn’t answer immediately and looked at Jin who was sitting across from her.

She used her eyes to gauge him.

And then-

*Boom!*

The table suddenly cracked between the two of them.

“Hm…Not bad.”

Said Luka.

“I can say the same for you.”

Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

Jin replied.

The two had clashed with their auras in a split second.

“I like that you two are gauging each other, but this table is expensive you know.”

Miko said with a sigh.

“The reason why I want to add Jin to Black Hornet is because your powers compliment each other. Also your skill sets should be similar. If you work together I’m sure that Black Hornet will become much stronger.”

He argued.

“But in the end, Black Hornet is yours. It’s your decision.”

“Fine. If you insist so much, then I’ll work with him.”

Luka said after a while.

“Black Hornet is a covert organization that lives in the shadows. For someone like you it’s perfect, right Jin?”

Miko asked.

Jin nodded.

“I have no problem. I’ve lived a certain way for most of my life, so I have no intention of living in the light. I’m fine with being in the shadows.”

Jin answered.

Miko nodded in satisfaction and then looked at Kaido.

“Kaido, you don’t look like the type that would like being in a position of authority.”

Kaido nodded.

“As such i'll just make you an ordinary General with no responsibility other than fighting when needed to. If you want to form a squad with people of your liking then you’re free to do so.”

“Aren’t you giving me too much freedom?”

Kaido asked.

“I don’t think so. Everyone is free to do whatever they want. I mean I’m prepared to replace anyone here and take up their responsibilities and tasks if push comes to shove. So no real pressure is on them. I’m just giving everyone a chance to grow and accompany on my path to emperor. In order words, I’m not restricting anyone’s freedom, so saying that I’m giving you too much freedom is nonsense. I’m just putting your talents to good use.”

“And that’s fighting?”

Miko nodded.

“In my eyes you’ll become quite the monster in the future. As a fellow monster I can tell, fighting is your calling. So I’m allowing space to grow. Besides I’ve placed everyone in positions where they’ll be able to grow in a way that best fits them.”

“……You’ve sure put a lot of thought into this.”

Said Kaido.

“Of course. I’m king after all.”

Miko said with a smile.

He then stood up.

“Now then, you’ll all have an idea of your future roles and responsibilities. Now if you would excuse me, I need to formulate a way to prevent my death at the hands of my master/cousin.”

After saying that, he left while he whistled.

Immediately after ishma and Regis transformed from their sword modes and started guarding him dressed in black suits while wearing dark shades.

They escorted Miko out of the hall leaving everyone behind.

“So the old meets the new, huh?”

Leon suddenly said while looking at everyone else.

“But I gotta say, Miko has a great eye for talent as always.”

He said as he looked at the Grim Legacy group.

“Beauties as well. He’s really like Nero and Nova in that regard.”

Leon ignored the awkward atmosphere and continued.

“Since we’re all here, how about we take the time to get to know each other?”

He stood up and sat in Miko’s seat.

“First of all, let me introduce myself. I’m Leon Saevio, Miko’s father and possible father-in-law for about three of you here.”

“It seems that you love to cause mischief, Leon.”

Said Luka.

“What? I’m just stating the facts.”

Leon laughed.

“Jin and Kaido, was it?”

Kaido and Jin nodded.

“Of everyone he brought back, you two are clearly the strongest. In fact, I’m sure you can give our Luka here a really hard time.”

“You say that as if Luka is the strongest of all of us.”

Hina said with a displeased tone.

“Because I am.”

Said Luka.

“Oh, really? I don’t remember ever losing to you?”

Said Sora.

“Me neither.”

Said Ace.

“You don’t need to. It’s obvious. You have be as strong as Miko to fight me. I’m pretty sure that I can crush you if I put my mind to it.”

Luka said arrogantly.

“Oh? You want to see if that statement is true?”

Hina stood up and looked ready to go.

“If you want then let’s.”

Luka also stood up.

“Now, now. Settle down. There’s no need to fight. It would make Miko more upset than he already is.”

Said Leon.

‘You say that after provoking them.’

Jin thought to himself.

“Besides, I’m the strongest here. Fullstop.”

Leon then looked back at Jin and Kaido.

“You two fought Miko, right?”

“How did you know?”

Asked Kaido.

“Because Miko acknowledged not only your current strength but your potential. He would only do that after fighting against or with you. That’s just how he is.”

Leon answered.

“Hey, you tell us here who were left behind just what Miko did in Grim City? In return we’ll tell you what he did before you met him. That way we’ll able to connect the two Miko’s and get a complete picture of who he is. Isn’t a bad idea right?”

He said with a playful smile.

After some hesitation, everyone nodded.

They all started to share their experiences with Miko.

From their first encounter to their first fight either together or against him.

Hina, Ace, and Sora shared the whole Darius incident from Miko and Hina’s first meeting to Darius death.

Luka shared her first time meeting Miko to their battle in the game, to her declaration of war to their partnership.

They then talked about be trained by the Primus branch up to the Throne Wars.

They spoke about all of stuff.

Naturally the Grim City group spoke about all the wild stuff Miko did in their city.

None had more stories to tell than Edward who was with him for most of his crimes.

In the end the two groups, using Miko as the bridge that connects them, started to grow a bit closer with each other and felt less awkward towards each other.

Leon watched this with a satisfied expression.

‘Well, that was easier than I thought. I guess humans really do connect faster when they have a common ground to stand. Using Miko was really the quickest way for them to accept each other.’

He thought to himself.

However his thoughts and intentions couldn’t escape the sharp minds of Jin, Edward and Luka. Even so they still went with the flow and truly had fun talking with each other.

“Really, Miko sure went wild in the last year.”

Said Hina.

“Looks like he couldn’t help himself when he was in a new setting.”

Luka added.

“But the Miko in the past was pretty wild too? I mean fighting in a war with monsters like Killo. I don’t think I could do it.”

Said Jin.

Talks like this continued for a while until everyone decided to leave while still chatting with each other.

“So Kaido you have two beautiful girls around you?”

Ace asked with his arm on Kaido’s shoulder.

“You can say that. One of them kinda forced her way in my life though.”

“What’s wrong with that? Man, I’m so jealous! If I were you I’ll take them both. A harem, you hear me? Start a harem!”

Ace said as he walked out the palace while chatting with Kaido

Seeing that Bloom laughed.

“Bloom.”

That’s when Mayumi suddenly called out to her.

“What’s wrong, Mayumi?”

Mayumi drew closer and whisper in her ear.

“Ace, Sora, Hinami. Those three are the ones I saw betraying Miko in my vision.”

“?!”

Hearing that Bloom looked back at Ace who was walking away with Kaido, Hina who was chatting with Luka and Jin, and Sora who was chatting with Edward.

“Those three? Are you sure?”

Mayumi nodded.

“However, don’t do anything stupid like attacking them. That might only speed up the prophecy.”

“Then you want me to do nothing? The prophecy states that after being betrayed Miko will turn into a monster, lose the person he loves the most, and then die! That is something I can’t allow to happen.”

“I know, but Miko told me that if anyone tries to hurt those who betrayed him in the prophecy without his permission, he’ll kill them. I think he was serious. Besides, if we attack in the name of a prophecy them it might cause theirs and Miko’s relationship to be affected; thus speeding up the prophecy.”

“Then what should I do?”

“Act normal, and don’t try to isolate yourself or Miko from them. There’s a chance that we could prevent them from betraying Miko by stirring them in the right direction. So for now try to get along okay?”

Bloom thought about it for a while before nodding.

“Fine. I’ll try your way. However, if there’s any sign of the prophecy coming true then even if Miko kills me in return, I’ll kill them.”

Mayumi nodded.

“Come on, let’s catch up with the others before they get suspicious.”

The two then hurried to catch the others.

However, they failed to noticed that someone was listening to their convo.

This person undid the Stealth technique they used to his themselves.

This person was Kristen.

He was walking in the palace and bumped into Miko’s comrades. In an attempt to avoid unnecessary attention he his himself with Stealth-Camouflage.

Because of this he heard Bloom and Mayumi’s convo from the part about Miko being betrayed. But he never heard who would betray him because Mayumi whispered it.

However, even if he heard it he would’ve forgotten it because the next part of prophecy was something that shook his soul.

He’ll turn into a monster and lose the person he loves the most.

This was something Kristen couldn’t ignore.

An old memory flashed in his mind. It was a memory of before Miko fought Dario for the throne.

The three sibling were hanging out together in Xia Palace.

That’s when Tessa asked Miko something.

“Big bro, do you love me and Kristen?”

“Yes, I do.”

Miko said while hugging her.

“Do you love us more than anything in the world?”

Miko shook his head.

“There’s someone I love more than you two.”

“Who?”

Tessa said while pouring.

“Mama.”

“You're just like Kristen! You love mama more than me. I mean I’m cute right?”

“Yes, yes you are. But mama’s cuter.”

Miko said with a laugh while poking Tessa’s puffy cheeks.

Remembering this cute memory didn’t make Kristen fuzzy inside. It was the complete opposite.

That memory made him felt complete terror and fear.

Kristen knew that what Miko said about loving Sasha the most wasn’t a lie, which meant that she was the most important person in his life.

The prophecy stated that he will turn into a monster and lose his most beloved person.

Which could mean that Miko will turn into a monster and kill Sasha.

The memory of Miko loosing control attacking them all resurfaced in his mind.

*Boom!*

A powerful crimson aura burst from within his body and covered the palace.

“?!”

Luka and the others who were still in the vicinity immediately felt it.

“I-I can’t allow that to happen!”

Two crimson Demon wings burst out of his back.

“Before he kills her, ill kill him first!”

*Boom!*

He flew off with a powerful force.

“Tsk!”

Luka clicked her tongue when she saw which direction Kristen was flying towards.

Miko was walking on he outskirts of the capital while examining the city’s appearance and noting if any changes was necessary.

That’s when he felt a powerful demon aura approaching him.

*Boom!*

The ground not too far away from him burst open when Kristen landed there.

His expression was terrifying and his body was leaking waves of bloodlust.

Even so Miko didn’t falter in face of his brother.

“What do you want, little brother?”

He asked calmly.

“Your life!”

Miko sighed when he heard that.

“I thought that was the case. I guess I’m destine to never live in harmony with my family no matter how many lives I experience.”

He said with a somewhat sad tone. That’s when his eyes turned crimson.

“Fine. Come. If it’s destiny then I’ll devour my siblings no matter how many times it’ll takes!”

He release his claws and fangs, Kristen did the same.

“Prepare yourself, Gamiko Dragna!”

“Prepare yourself, Kristen Dragna!”

““TODAY IS THE DAY I SEND YOU TO HELL!””
