District 1.
This was the district where one of the Four gates to leave and enter the city resided. It was also the city where Jun Mizune established his HQ.
Jun was currently inside his main office staring at the three holograms in front of him.
These holograms weren't that of people, but avatars of various kinds.
“So….Is any one of the two of you gonna tell us exactly what happened?”
Said the gear avatar.
This avatar belonged to one of the Four Pillars, and the one in-charged of all of the technology in the city, Tommy “Gear” Akabe.
“What happened is simple. Jun brought a maniac into our city.”
Said the heart avatar.
The voice that came from it was tender but filled with scorn and anger.
“Ha! Don't try to turn this around on me, Sebas. You're the one who got nosy and irritated the kid.”
Jun retorted.
“Cut the crap. I was simply doing my job as the one who's in charge of protecting the city, and monitor a possible threat.”
“You mean that were afraid that I would try to draw Miko over to my side and accumulate more power by using him to form a connection with Nero and the Dragna Clan."
“Was I wrong?”
“Of course. My invitation to king Miko was of pure intentions. I simply wanted to improve the academy's reputation by having such a high profile person enroll into it.”
“Like hell I believe you!”
“You make it sound like I need you to believe me.”
“Enough you two. This bickering isn't getting us nowhere.”
Said the final avatar.
The avatar was that of a crystal and the voice that came from if was obviously female.
This voice was that of one of the Four Pillars and the person in charge of the city's finances, Luna Isabel.
“The matter of the fact is that the city is losing a lot of money because of this kid. So one of you need to do something.”
She said.
“I propose using Gaia or Jin Makoto to eliminate the brat.”
Said Sebas.
“I oppose that course of action.”
Said jun.
“I agree with Jun.”
“I as well.”
Gear and Luna also disapproved of Sebas proposal.
“Why?! If we use either of them, taking care of that brat would be a snap.”
Sebas argued.
“Sebas, as one of the Four Pillars and the one who's in charge of the military, you can't possibly say that you've forgotten the protocols regarding the usage of Gaia, right?”
Jun spoke with a sarcastic tone.
“Gaia can only be used when the survival of the city is at stake. It cannot be used to solve our personal grudges.”
Said Gear.
“This isn't a personal grudge! You've all seen the reports, that kid is a threat to the city!”
“Then are you 100% certain that you currently aren't being driven by your emotions and only wants what's best for the city?”
Said Jun.
It was a well known fact that Sebas was a very emotional person, who usually make irrational decisions from time to time. If not for his advisor controlling him, he would've probably started dozens of wars in the city already.
The sounds of Sebas clinching his teeth could be heard coming from his avatar.
“Then what about the Reaper
“That's also out of the question.”
Jun answered.
“Why the hell is it out of the question?!”
“Jin may be used for our personal agendas, but we mustn't rely on him too much or it will be the end of us.”
Jun answered solemnly.
“Also, who's going to face the anger of the Dragna clan when they find out we ordered the death of their Proxy and king? Because it sure won't be me. I would sell you out faster than a lemonade stand in the desert.”
Said Gear.
“Sebas if you want to commit suicide by angering the likes of Nero, Nova, and Kimiko, then be my guest. But don't drag the city down with you. I can't die before I get married to an incredibly rich prince after all.”
Said Luna.
“Then what are you suggesting? We're to leave the brat to do as he pleases?”
Sebas said angrily.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
“No. You started this so you find a way to end this. Preferably with all of us being alive in the end.”
Jun answered while laughing.
“In short, you're on your own bro.”
Said Gear as he cut his link.
Luna silently cut her link as well.
Suddenly only Sebas and Jun were left.
“Well, be sure not to lose too much face.”
Jun laughed and cut his connection without waiting for Sebas to respond.
His grew more louder when he imagined the angry screams echoing through out the 16th District.
After clashing with Sebas’ subordinates for a second time, Miko's fame rose to new heights.
“Half of the Night District was destroyed?!”
The people were discussing the battle on the streets, in their homes, and even at work.
“I heard that the damage was so great that the district was temporarily closed down.”
“It was. Right now only authorized personnel of the government can enter the district.”
“I heard that the death toll was in the thousands, with many of them being innocents.”
“They say that every enforcer that entered the district that day were killed without mercy. They say that most of the corpse weren't presentable for viewing so they had to hold several closed casket funerals.”
“Did the Heavenly Demon King really caused all this?”
Someone asked doubtfully.
“That's what the media says. He clashed with the enforcers and their weapons and brutally slaughtered them all.”
“That's the Overlord of death’s grandson for you. He's as terrifying as Demon Dragon God Nero.”
“What's going to happen to the city?”
“I hope they catch him soon.”
“You heard them.”
Said Regis.
She, Miko and Ishma were all sitting inside a café drinking coffee while listening the conversations of the people inside.
“As expected, the media is painting me as the bad guy.”
Miko said while sipping an ice coffee.
“But aren't you the bad guy?”
Ishma asked while laughing.
“They didn't really lie after all. We did kill all those enforcers, and are equally responsible for the deaths of all those bystanders.”
Said Regis.
“Well, it was the enforcers who took out that giant tank. If they didn't, I wouldn't have needed to fight so hard.”
“What are you guys complaining about? It was a pretty fun massacre.”
Ishma said while drinking her sweet tea.
They were all hidden using Miko's [Stealth-Camouflage] so they didn't need to worry about being detected.
Their battle in the 11th District drew too much attention so even they needed to lay low for a while.
They were currently in the 9th District blending among the masses.
“I wonder how will Sebas and the other pillars will react?”
Said Regis.
“The other pillars will probably abandon Sebas and shift all of the responsibility to him.”
(Make sense. If they're smart making Sebas alone handle it would be the best for them. That way, if anyone would face the wrath of the Dragna clan if something goes wrong, it would be Sebas alone.)
Said Tiamat.
“Hmm….Should we go pay him a visit?”
Ishma asked.
Miko shook his head.
“It's too early. Let's torment him some more first. After he's pushed to the edge we’ll deliver the finally blow.”
(Be careful. A beast is at its most dangerous when it's backed into a corner. This is true for humans too.)
Tiamat warned.
“Don't worry. I'll be sure to crush him before that happens.”
Miko paused.
“Why do I feel like I just raise my own death flag?”
He said with a wry smile.
After spending some more time relaxing in the café, the trio left and started walking down the streets.
“Oh, its Miko.”
That's when they heard an angelic voice behind them.
They turned around and saw Hana and Kaido standing behind them.
Despite him being hidden, Hana was still able to “see” them clearly.
“Yo long time no see.”
Said Miko.
As he said that he covered them in [Stealth Camouflage] as well.
“You haven't been to the academy for a while. But considering your current status, I guess it can't be helped.”
Said Kaido in his usual monotone.
“Miko, you became quite famous since we last met.”
Hana said with a beautiful smile.
This smile was able to warm the coldest of hearts and Miko was no exception.
“Well, a lot of stuff happened.”
He said while looking into the murky eyes that was staring back at him.
Kaido then suggested that they move to somewhere more comfortable, so they moved to the near by park.
It was this park that Miko first met Kaido and Hana.
‘I've been having a lot of eventful meetings in parks lately.’
Miko thought to himself.
“So what's up. Considering that it's a school day and the fact that you specifically sought me out, there must be something that you wish to discuss, right?”
He said.
Kaido nodded in agreement.
“Actually, Hana was worried when she heard that you became a wanted criminal. I wanted to put her at ease, so I came to provide some advice on how to survive this whole predicament.”
When Miko heard what Kaido said, he couldn't help but look at Hana.
She seemed to have sense Miko's gaze, because she shyly lowered her head as if trying to hide her embarrassment.
‘Ugh?!’
Miko suddenly felt unknown physical pain in his heart.
‘….Did I just react like Nero and Nova would've towards Sasha?’
Miko suddenly thought that genetics was really a scary thing.
Regis saw his reaction and frowned.
“I'm cuter so why don't you react that way with me?...”
She said with a jealous tone.
“Because Hana's gentle temperament is genuine. She's like a pour white dove. You're more like a wolverine. Cute, and looks harmless, but is really ferocious. I prefer the dove.”
Miko answered immediately.
He ignored the fuming Regis and turned back to Kaido.
“You said you had advice. What kind of advice?”
“Well, my first thought was to tell you to lay low until this all blows over, I was even willing to give you a place where you could do that, but after considering your personality I knew you would turn that advice down.”
“Then what's the other advice?”
“Create your own gang.”
Kaido's suggestion confused Miko.
“How would that help me out?”
“You currently don't have any forces on your side, am I right?”
“He has us. That's all the man power he needs.”
Said Ishma.
However Kaido shook his head.
“The thought that you three alone can take on the entire city is too naïve. You guys don't know the true strength of your enemies.”
He continued before Ishma could retort.
“Take the syndicate for example. I'm well aware of your feud with them.”
“Oh, I forgot about them.”
Said Miko.
“They were attacked by the Black Reaper and lost a lot of their military strength, because of that they didn't have time to settle their score with you. But they are quickly rebuilding the military strength they lost.”
“So you're saying that the first thing that they'll probably do when they recover their strength is to settle their score with me, before start a war with the pillars?”
Kaido shook his head.
“That might have been possible before, but not now that you're causing the Pillars and specifically Sebas Lovefall massive losses. They won't lay a finger on you for a while, because you're doing their work for them. But once they've believe you've outlive your use, they'll move to erase you.”
Even when speaking about such a serious manner Kaido's voice and face lacked any emotion.
“I'll tell you this now, if the syndicate gets serious about eliminating you it will be hard for you to survive in this city by yourself. Especially with someone as stubborn as Sebas Lovefall on your back as well.”
“So basically you're saying that I should start gathering my own forces to increase my chance of survival?”
“Wrong. What I'm suggesting is for you to create your own force and use that force to clash the pillars and the syndicate on equal footing, and if possible destroy them both.”
“………”
Miko was silent for a while after hearing Kaido's words. They made a lot of sense.
Recently Miko fought Sebas’ enforcers on several occasions. They even took out a three story building sized tank to destroy him.
That tank packed a lot of punch. Miko had doubts that he could escape an encirclement of those tanks unharmed.
Not to mention that Sebas probably had stronger weapons ready to be tested on Miko.
Even Miko had to admit defeating Sebas won't be easy by himself if he had to wary of the weapons he possessed.
Miko needed his own weapons, his own soldiers, his own army.
“…..I agree with your suggestion, Kaido. I'll create my own forces and cement my standing at the top of the city.”
Kaido nodded at Miko's words.
“I just wanted to help. Do you know how to gather gang members?”
Miko nodded.
“I'm a crime lord back at my kingdom. Although I've never actually led a gang before, I think I have what it takes.”
He responded with a smile.
“First I'll take the city's underworld by storm and gather troops. After that I'll build my criminal empire and become the third force in the city.”
He started to feel a bit excited about playing gangster.
“This should be fun!”
