Mythical Conquest
The Capital City

The Capital City

It was an early morning. A four-year old Miko was relaxing under a tree, on the farm where his parents worked.

He came here with his parents, to show his siblings the farm for the first time.

“Wow, it's so big. Look at all the plants!”

The one who said that, was the younger of the twins, Tessa.

She was a very energetic and outgoing girl. She was quite cute as well. Although a bit tomboyish, she'll definitely grow into a beauty.

“….There's a lot of people here. And I'm hot too...”

Next to her was her older brother, Kristen.

He was a lot more reserved than his sister. He was very obedient and clings to his mother every chance he got.

Just like his sister he’ll most likely grow into a beautiful person.

He's a bit sneaky though.

‘….Hey, is everyone in this world good-looking?’

Miko half jokingly asked Tiamat.

(Well, not necessarily. Humans subconsciously manipulate mana to mold their appearance to their ideal form. However, there are limits to this. But, even by those standards, your family is quite beautiful.)

‘Are you going to say it's your gene’s doing?’

(Of course.)

Miko sighed, and looked around the farm.

He could see a lot of people working everywhere. The farm his parents worked, supplied food for the entire kingdom. So, it's quite big and has a lot of workers.

“Amazing isn't it? It's almost 8000 hectares in land space. We grow all kinds of crops and livestock here.”

While Miko was watching his mother and siblings, Leon approached him.

“You sound pretty proud, Leon.”

“I told you to call me Papa or daddy.”

“I refuse.”

“Why?!”

“Because it just doesn't feel right.”

“But you call Sasha, Mother and Mama!”

“That's because she is my mother.”

“Are you saying I'm not your father?! Did Sasha have an affair?!”

Leon started panicking after hearing a child's words. Miko found a bit amusing that he took his words seriously.

“Calm down. Apparently, you're the only one she's been with. She’s not unfaithful like you are.”

Leon flinched when he heard Miko's words.

“W-What do you mean? I'm always faithful to Sasha.”

“If so why did your voice just crack? Not only that, why are you avoiding eye contact?”

Miko's words made Leon visibly nervous. So, he slowly took a glance at him.

Miko wasn't even looking at Leon, he was still watching his siblings.

“Listen, Leon. Recently, my senses have begun to sharpen. It's almost on the level of a domestic animal now. But, it's enough to know when a person's lying without even looking at them. Not to mention, you have an unknown feminine scent on you as of late.”

Leon palms started to sweat and his breathing started to become rougher. Miko easily picked up on that and sighed.

“Calm down. I have no intention of telling Sasha.”

“Huh?”

“Given Sasha’s personality, she'll definitely leave you the moment she finds out.”

Miko then mumbles something like: “She'll probably beat you death first though”, but Leon didn't hear him.

“That would be a problem for me. No, I'll probably be fine. It's Tessa and Kristen who I'm worried for.”

Miko pointed at Leon without looking at him.

“Believe it or not, your presence is still necessary for them. Even though, the type of household you have doesn't necessarily determine the child's future, a neutral family is still better than a single parent household. Those kids still need their father.”

“……..”

Leon looked at his children happily playing with his wife and felt something squeeze his heart.

“To be honest, I prefer have you than a strange man around them. You're easier to manipulate, and a situation may arise where I will have to kill my stepfather.”

“Manipulate? Kill?”

Leon was confused by the words that his 4-year-old son was saying.

“Well anyway, I have a request for you. Think of it as payment for keeping my mouth shut.”

Leon gulped when he heard that.

“What is it?”

“Take me to the capital city.”

After telling Sasha that he was going to show Miko around the city, the two of them left the farm and headed to city by foot.

It was apparently, just a hour’s walk away.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Leon held down his head from the moment they started walking.

“Well, there's no need to be so gloomy. You may be lustful bastard, but you do everything you can to provide for your family. I respect that.

“….But it doesn't excuse what I've done.”

“True. However, you were just following your instincts. So, it's natural.”

“Huh?”

Leon was once again surprised by Miko's words.

“I once wondered why men sexual desires were harder to control than women's. And then, I realized something. Women naturally out live men. After realizing that, I started to focus my thinking around that fact. And then it hit me. Because of their short lives, men instinctively attempt to reproduce as much as possible. You know, to leave a legacy behind. That's the conclusion I came to.”

Miko ignored Leon’s confused expression and continued.

“Well, there's also the fact that men immediately feels pleasure from the moment they lose their virginity. While women on the other hand, feel immense pain from their first time. I think this causes them to be more reserved towards sex. Resulting in them only wanting to do it with someone they don't mind feeling pain for.”

Leon nodded with understanding, until Miko added-

“Well, that is until the pain turn into pleasure and some of them stop caring who they do it with. But that's also natural I guess.”

“……You, are you really four years old ? You sound more experienced in life than I am.”

Well technically, he wasn't wrong.

Leon was currently 20. If Logan was still alive he would be 24. So, Miko is mentally older than his parents.

“Age doesn't determine your wisdom.”

“No, but there's a limit, right?”

It wasn't long before Miko could see a huge city surrounded by a wall. It was his first time seeing such a huge settlement since being reincarnated.

“It has a medieval setting like I expected.”

From a far, the city looked like it was built in medieval Europe.

Most fantasy works were set in this type of era. An era where technology is still at its simplest. So Miko wasn't surprised by the appearance of the city.

Leon looked at Miko's reaction and frown.

“You don't seem too surprised or excited, even though its your first time coming this far. It's kind of anticlimactic.”

“I had an idea of how it would look.”

The two continued walking for another 15 minutes before they arrived at the main gate.

Leon greeted two guards who seemed to be his colleagues, and they entered the city.

When they entered the city, it was crowded. The buildings looked just as Miko expected. Made of bricks and of an old-fashioned design.

“Well, I figured as much……..Huh?”

“Hm? What's wrong?”

Leon saw Miko with his eyes widen and mouth hanging down in disbelief.

“What's that?”

Miko slowly pointed at something he saw a man riding.

It had two wheels, made of metal, and had a loud roaring sound coming from it.

When Leon saw that he a satisfying smirk on his face. He was acting like he won against Miko for the first time.

“That my dear boy, is a motorcycle.”

“………I see.”

He said calmly. But on the inside-

‘Why are there bikes here?! Wasn’t this world supposed to have a medieval setting?!’

He was extremely confused.

“Come on, you said you wanted to see the city. You won't be able to see it if we stop here.”

Leon dragged the confused Miko into the busy city, while his mind was in turmoil.

They were a lot of people walking around. Some dressed traditionally and others modernly.

There was a lot of horse-drawn carriages, but there were a lot vehicles like bikes, cars and scooters too.

It was a perfect mix of past and present eras.

“Now that I look at the buildings more closely, they aren't made of bricks. But it's not normal concrete either. What is it?”

“Oh, the buildings are made out of Neo-Concrete.”

Leon heard Miko's mumbling and casually answered his question.

“Neo-Concrete?”

“It's an auto-forming and self-healing concrete.”

“Auto-Forming? Do you mean the concrete morphed into buildings by itself?”

“Good guess. As expected of my son, you're really smart.”

Leon had a proud look on his face, which annoyed Miko.

“But, how do you make something like that? With magic?”

“No. With alchemy.”

‘Alchemy? It's successful here?’

Alchemy was the medieval version of chemistry. It was based around the conversion of matter. However, it had too many problems, as it tends to lean more over to the supernatural than actual science. Because of that, it was discarded over time.

But, it looks like this world’s alchemy was far more successful.

“It's really expensive, but it doesn't need maintenance. It regenerates along as it isn't completely destroyed after all.

“So, that's the self-healing part. Are the vehicles made from alchemy as well?”

“That's right. The vehicles are designed to use the magic in our bodies as fuel to work. But, only the rich can afford them in this country. The rest of us have to either walk or ride horses.”

‘…..It seems that alchemy has replace modern science here…….Huh?’

Miko was walking pass a store with his father, when he spotted something he didn't expect to see in this world.

“A TV?!”

He saw a lot of television sets in a store, while looking through the window.

“They have TVs in this world?! And I was stuck reading children books to pass the time, and there are TVs in this world?!”

(Why are you so surprised? This world is as old as yours. So, wouldn't it be more strange if they hadn't advance to at least this level?)

‘No, no,no. I've been in this world for 4 years! And I've never seen anything modern in that time.’

(That's because you come from a poor household. Technology in this world is far more expensive than the ones in your's. That's because they're hard to create. Besides, you've never left your yard before.)

‘So you're saying that I'm just a country boy who didn't know how advance the world truly was?’

(Yup. And just to note, they're parts of the world where the technology is at least 20 years more advance than those of your world.)

“…..Leon, does the Internet exist in this world?”

“I'm surprise you know about the Internet.”

“HAAAAAAAA!”

Miko suddenly held his head and started screaming, which shocked everyone around him.

“H-Hey, what's…Huh?!”

Miko suddenly jump and grab Leon's collar, and brought his face so close to his, that their foreheads touched.

“Why?......Why didn’t you tell me about stuff like this?!”

He shouted.

“T-That's because we didn't want you to start crying for stuff we can't afford. So, we raised you in a way you'll appreciate the simple things in life.”

Leon was caught off guard by his son’s sudden aggressiveness, and was greatly confused.

“….Tch. That's actually a reasonable reason.”

Saying that, Miko released his father's collar and jumped down.

“For some parents, it’s hard to deny their child of something. Especially, if it is their first child. I can't blame you now, because you wanted to prevent your child from being envious of other people for as long as you could.”

Leon very surprise to see that Miko understood their intentions. However-

“But, I waaaannnnttttt it.”

That was until his son stuck his face on the glass of the appliance store, and was making a whiny sound.

“He's actually acting his age. He's like a normal four-year old right now.”

Miko would’ve probably hit him, if he'd heard what his father said.

It didn't take long for Miko to get over the initial shock, so the two of them continued their tour.

“Maybe I should buy Sasha something?”

They were in the commercial section of the city.

“Don't be stupid. Do you want her to know that you did something wrong?”

Miko said that to Leon who was peeking into the stores.

“Huh?”

But, Leon didn't seem to understand what his son meant.

“Listen, Leon. Women have this sixth sense that they call ‘Women’s intuition’. It's this thing that allows them to pick up on the simplest changes in their partner.”

Leon was listening attentively.

“If you start doing something new all of sudden, they'll know that something changed. If you bring Sasha flowers out of blue, when you haven't done anything like that your whole relationship, she'll get suspicious. Hell, she might already be suspicious.”

“What?!”

“Well, women are sensitive creatures after all. It might not be on my level, but I'm sure she smelled an unfamiliar scent on you lately.”

Leon gulped when he heard that.

“W-What should I do?”

Leon shamelessly asked his 4-year-old son for advice on adultery.

“Do nothing.”

“Huh?”

“Don't change anything. Keep doing things the way you normally do. Don’t treat her any better or any worse, it will just agitate her. Just act natural, and stop cheating on her. And then it will work out…….Probably.”

“You're not sure?”

“Hey, women are very tricky, you know? Just when you think you got away, bam! They've caught you.”

“…..Basically, there's no way to fully deceive them.”

“Yep.”

An awkward silence then formed between the two.

It lasted for a few minutes until, Miko said-

“Do you want me to help you write your will?”

“……So, I'm basically dead in your eyes, huh?”

The two continued on and spent the whole day, walking around the capital.

Miko could occasional hear his father praying to the gods for help.

(Prayer won't save you from a woman's wrath, my dear.)

‘…..That sounds quite convincing coming from a god, you know.’
