9: Changing worldview

Raja Kint exhaled as the ki within his body increased.

It’s been one day since he talked to his father. He used the rich ki to break through to the inner ki realm stage two.

He stood up and stretched before heading out the door. Under the brilliance of the sun, the forest looks full of vitality.

He furrowed his brows wondering that if he was in the middle of a forest then how would he get out? He chose a random direction and began walking. After a few hours, he found a trail and followed the path.

He thought about how he walked and something wasn’t adding up. He disregarded the thought. If his father is the reason for that feeling then he won’t understand no matter how hard he ponders.

While walking he heard some leaves rustling to his right. He vigilantly looked over. Seeing nothing, he didn’t dare to let his guard down. Instead, he picked up his pace.

After a few hours of walking, in the distance, he saw a town. He became slightly excited and picked up his pace.

Once he reached the entrance he walked straight through. At first sight, he noticed the people here were a little dirty on average. He looked down at himself and sank his hands into the ground. And patted himself down with dirt.

He then continued walking through taking in his surroundings. People were sleeping in the mud. The eyes of every person around were always moving. Holding a wariness that Raja Kint was unaccustomed to.

The stench of animal and human piss and shit wafted through the air. Forcing Raja Kint to use everything he had not to just throw up.

Soon he found an inn and walked inside. He still has ki stones from his previous world. But he was worried that using it here would draw too much attention. Because all his ki stones were of a higher grade.

With this thought, he left the inn. By this point, the sun was on its way down and a slight hint of darkness was present in the sky.

Raja Kint sighed to himself, deciding he would just find someplace to sleep in the dirt.

It may suck to sleep in the dirty town. But it has to be safer than being out in the wild.

He found an empty, secluded area and sat down to cultivate. From what he’s seen so far the strongest in this town are late stage inner ki realm.

Judging from the strength of this town the people are quite weak. Maybe I can visit a tavern and listen to some people. In the books, taverns are quite important for information gathering.

Raja Kint spent most of the night cultivating. When the rising sun hit his eyelids Raja Kint opened his eyes. Immediately he started back to cultivating. He needed to focus on drawing more ki into his body.

Once noon arrived he went out to find a merchant. His biggest issue right now was finding out how to pay for things. He found a tradesman and walked up to him.

“Tradesman I want to trade what I have for ki stones,” said Raja Kint.

The tradesman is a middle-aged man with black hair, a skinny body, and shifty eyes. He replied, “Show me what you got.”

Raja Kint was silent before saying, “It’s better to not be in front of so many eyes.”

The tradesman narrowed his eyes and motioned for Raja Kint to follow him.

They left the town and went into the forest a bit.

“This is far enough,” stated Raja Kint.

The tradesman turned around and looked at him. Raja Kint took out a high-grade ki stone from his pocket. The tradesman had a gleam in his eyes. He looked Raja Kint up and down with a questioning look.

He reached into his bag and pulled out a small mountain of low-grade ki stones. Raja Kint sighed to himself. After all 1,000 low-grade stones equal one middle-grade ki stone. And 1,000 middle-grade ki stones are equal to 1 high-grade.

To trade a few hundred low-grade ki stones for one high-grade ki stone was sad but necessary.

Raja Kint tossed the ki stone over and watched the tradesman. He knew the tradesman wanted to see how he would transport these ki stones. When Raja Kint looked at him the tradesman knew he wouldn’t find out.

Once the tradesman left Raja Kint took out his father’s ring and put most of the ki stones inside. Putting some extra into his regular pouch on his hip.

During his time after leaving his father. He had fiddled around with the ring and learned he could put things in but not take things out. He assumed it was his father’s doing after seeing how he had no other methods of storage.

After returning to the town he went to a tavern. After a few hours of nothing interesting being talked about. Raja Kint left and looked for an inn.

The first inn he went to denied him entry without a reason. The second inn and third inn did the same.

With no choice left, he went to where he slept the night before. On his way over to his spot he saw the tradesman in the same spot from before. And then it dawned on him. When I came back he wasn’t there but now he’s there and looking at me with a hint of a smile. Something seems extremely off right now.

With these thoughts, Raja Kint felt unease rise inside him. He could tell the tradesman was an inner ki realm seventh stage.

With no way to fight he thought of running but where would he run to? He just got teleported to an entirely new world.

He found himself in a random spot in between some buildings and silently cultivated. While keeping a vigilant ear to his surroundings.

The day and night passed smoothly. Upon the first shine of the sun, Raja Kint exhaled deeply to welcome the inner ki realm stage three. He felt no joy but instead, he had a feeling of dread. He got up with the intent to leave this town when two men appeared on one end of the alley. Raja Kint turned around to see a man and a woman on the other side. He could tell the two men were at the sixth inner ki and the other two at the fifth inner ki.

Of the two men one wore a red shirt and said. “You can come peacefully or make this difficult for yourself.”

Raja Kint says, “Why are you here for me? Is it over some ki stones? I can give those to you if that’s what you want.”

The man replied, “A young prince running away from home. You’ll fetch a good price when your people come looking for you. In the meantime, you can entertain us by fighting in the Coliseum.”

Raja Kint sneered as he said, “I won’t be fighting in any type of coliseum.”

He ran towards the two fifth inner ki with all his strength. The man pulled out a staff and ran forward. The woman pulled out a sword and ran forward.

Realizing he wouldn’t be able to slip through without a fight Raja Kint glanced behind him. The two sixth inner ki were running over.

He looked back forward and a staff swing approached. He used his arms to block. With a difference of two stages, he was forced off his feet and slammed into the building.

“Whack!”

Another staff swing connected to his chest and he coughed up blood. Finally, the two sixth inner ki arrived. The man who didn’t speak grabbed him. Raja Kint tried to struggle but then felt a tap against his neck and his world turned dark.

“Splash!”

Raja Kint woke up gasping and looking around. He tried to move his arms and realized his wrists were stuck.

A raspy voice sounded, “If you want to survive you best simply choose a weapon and walk out there. Try to give us a good show newbie.”

Raja Kint turned around to see a man with an ugly face and a pot belly. His cultivation was at the eighth inner ki. The man undid his chain and Raja Kint rubbed his wrist as he looked around.

With a gloomy face, he spotted a wooden spear with a metal tip. He grabbed the spear and looked at the man.

The man walked next to a gate leading outside and rotated a wheel. The gate began rising and Raja Kint stepped out under the cover of night.

A booming voice sounded, “Ladies and gentlemen, our last show of the night features a new young warrior at the third inner ki. And his opponent will be a boar at the third inner ki as well. Enjoy the show and let’s root for the young boy!”

The crowd cheered as the gates behind Raja Kint closed. On the other side of the Coliseum, gates were rising.

Raja Kint looked around to see there were a few hundred people there. And at one corner were a few people who seemed to be in the outer ki realm.

Raja Kint directed his focus to see a boar with eyes of hatred directed toward him.

It seems I’m subjected to the same fate as a boar. We really were too pampered being under the World Patriarch's protection. I’ll have to look at the world through a whole new lens. With this being my first lesson. Lacking strength means your life is no longer yours.

The boar was let loose from its reins and it dashed toward Raja Kint.

Raja Kint's eyes at this moment became colder than any moment in his entire life. His temperament became cold and he looked at the boar as if it was already dead.

Although he was beaten one-sidedly in the alley, he still had basic training from his family. How could anyone at the same stage as him even compete, man or beast?

Raja Kint ran toward the boar and stabbed his spear forth. The boar evaded to the left and Raja Kint jumped over the boar and slammed his feet on its back. With this slam, he channeled his inner ki and the boar simply shook him off.

Raja Kint and the boar charged again. He stabbed his spear out and when the boar went to dodge. The spear seemed to curve in its eyes and at this moment it charged toward the spear!

Raja Kint didn’t care as the spear stabbed into the boar's head. The boar expressed surprise as if it wasn’t expecting Raja Kint to be this strong.

Raja Kint narrowed his eyes at the sight as the boar slowed down. Looked at him for a few moments and fell over.
