3: Naivete crushed

3: Naivete crushed

A few weeks have passed since Raja Kint met with the World Patriarch.

“Bro you’re not going to fight anyone. I don’t get why you’re so excited about their visit.” Hikari Kint ate some eggs after speaking.

With a full mouth, Raja Kint said, “Sis you don’t understand that anything can happen.”

After a few more bites Raja Kint got up and went to get dressed. Normally he wears simple clothes. Because he spends so much time in his room.

Today he had to dress up to represent the status of his family.

Some of the female helpers helped Raja Kint put together his appearance.

Wearing white pants and a long-sleeved sky blue shirt with a symbol representing the Kint family on the back and front. Raja Kint looked like a young prince. The young girls then tied up Raja Kint's sternum-length hair into a ponytail.

After preparing he left to the front yard. There the family only had to wait for their mother before leaving.

Raja Kint sat next to a lion spirit beast multiple times larger than a normal lion. With a mane of soft white hair, Raja Kint stroked the mane.

After a few minutes, Irini Kint appeared and they all hopped on the lion’s back. With a roar, the lion sped through the air toward the stadium.

With Enyo Kint’s status in the clan. Raja Kint's family was the last family to appear.

With clouds splitting, the lion ran toward open seats near the top of the stadium. A couple of dozen meters above the stadium the lion shrunk down. Small enough that Hikari Kint carried the lion in her arms.

Raja Kint looked at all the people below him. The stadium was packed with people. And the section where the foreign sect stayed was clear. The entire sect wore the same dark green taoist robe.

After a moment Raja Kint felt the ground beneath him and sat down. He only took one breath before laughter spread through the air.

“It’s been a while fellow Daoist Hondros.” Ayumu Kint's voice seemed to be coming from all directions.

A middle-aged man stood up from the Hondros Clan and replied. “Indeed, today is a great day to witness the greatness of our younger generation. And maybe some catching up to do.”

At the peak of the stadium, a line of fractured space appeared, then it widened into an oval. Out came Ayumu Kint.

Ayumu Kint floated down to his seat. Gesturing to the seat beside him. The Hondros Patriarch took one step. This step completely disregarded the rules of space. In one step he had reached the seat.

Raja Kint was shocked at this sight. He knew Daoists were strong from books. But first-hand experience is completely different.

Ayumu Kint looked towards the stadium and spoke. “There isn’t a need for too many words. Let’s enjoy the battles of the younger generation today.”

With this announcement, down below two young men had already stepped out to fight.

Raja Kint wasn’t too excited to see this match so his eyes wandered to the Hondros Clan.

Fuhai Kint said, “You see the young boy next to the elder with white hair? He clearly hasn’t started cultivating. But he seems a bit different, like you.”

Raja Kint’s eyes wandered over to the young boy. When his eyes landed the young boy seemed to sense something. Then he turned his head and locked eyes with Raja Kint.

The boy said something and the white-haired elder also turned his head. Glancing at Raja Kint before looking at the battles below.

Raja Kint was curious about the boy. He knew boys under nine years old would come. He wasn’t sure if there would be anyone interesting.

After a day of battles, the three of the Kint Clan's younger generation were undefeated. And four of the Hondros Clan were undefeated.

Raja Kint went back home but couldn’t sleep. He left his room to sit in his personal courtyard.

Looking up at the stars he began to write random lines on paper.

Before he realized it he was opening his eyes to an orange sky.

Raja Kint sat up and looked at the tens of papers below him. He rubbed his eyes while yawning, stood up and went to dress for the day.

After a few hours, the tournament was back underway. Raja Kint once again spotted the boy. He continued to stare at the boy for a few minutes before the boy looked over.

Raja Kint stood up saying to his parents. “I’ll be right back.”

Raja Kint left, followed by his older brother.

After wandering around the stadium they were finally at the entrance. Over here the young Hondros Clan boy wasn’t by himself either. He also had the white-haired elder with him.

Raja Kint said, “The tournament is boring, let’s have a fight between the two of us here and now.”

The Hondros Clan boy smiled as he said, “You’re really full of energy, I love it. My name is Niko Hondros.”

Raja Kint smiled as he took up a fighting pose. “My name is Raja Kint.”

“The boy who doesn’t like cultivating. It seems this will be easier than I thought.” Niko Hondros took up a fighting stance as well.

Ruhai Kint and the elder stepped back. This small area was more than big enough for the two to fight.

“Fwoosh!”

Raja Kint and Niko Hondros moved at the same time. They both threw punches that were dodged and countered.

After the counter, Raja left kicked at Niko’s stomach. Niko sidestepped to the outside of the kick and closed the distance in one step. With a left uppercut hidden behind Raja's left leg.

Raja used his left leg as defense and blocked the uppercut by accident. Stomping his left foot down he swayed to the left. Dodging a right straight. Then Raja swayed down to dodge a left hook.

Raja sent a left uppercut that was caught by Niko's right hand. Niko threw out a left kick only for Raja to slide along the inside of the kick with his right arm.

Raja threw out a sweeping left kick. Knocking Niko off his feet and falling onto the ground.

Raja got up and took two steps back waiting for Niko to rise.

Ruhai Kint was shocked to see such a battle. He knew how unparalleled his younger brother was in hand combat. To think he barely held an advantage over this kid was insane.

Niko Hondros said, “Not bad, that’s only the first battle.”

Raja Kint sneered, “I’m winning one to zero and we’re only doing a best of three.”

Niko Hondros stood up and walked towards Raja Kint with no guard.

Raja Kint smirked as he mirrored Niko.

At two steps away Niko speeds up. Raja expected this and threw a left straight.

Niko went to block as Raja's fist covered his vision. The impact he was waiting for never came.

Raja used the left to cover for a left kick. Connecting with Niko’s body. Niko grits his teeth and grabs Raja’s left kick. He sweeps his left leg at Raja's right leg.

Raja jumps to evade the sweep. Niko’s left leg reached the ground first. And then he spun his body and slammed Raja into the ground.

Niko Hondros smirked, “Now it’s just one more win for me. He stepped back to put a few meters of distance between the two.”

Raja Kint chuckled, “To think there was someone this interesting, maybe I should cultivate. If I can fight more guys like you then I would be quite happy.”

Niko Hondros sneered, “I’ll show you the difference between our ideals right here. You aren’t strong enough to beat me.”

Raja Kint's left eye slightly twitched. “Hmph, you talk too much. Just because I don’t want to cultivate doesn’t mean anything about this fight.”

Niko Hondros moved forward with a powerful stance. It was clear that this powerful stance was most natural for him.

Raja Kint moved forward with a stance conveying power as well.

The elder furrowed his brows in thought. How is this boy from the Kint Clan so strong? Niko is considered the most talented of his generation. Carrying hopes only second to the law body cultivator. But he’s already in the second step. This is a future threat that needs to be eliminated. We don’t need another Ayumu Kint in our realm.

Suddenly a voice appeared in the elder’s mind. “Don’t be rash, things are in motion for us to rise.”

The elder felt cold sweat run down his back. He didn’t dare harbor any more dangerous thoughts in the Kint Clan. Instead, he turned his thoughts back to the battle.

Raja Kint was feeling the pressure at this moment. He knew that at this rate he would be completely swept up by his opponent.

Niko threw a right hook. Purposely locking down Raja's left arm. So that he could force a right-leg kick through.

Raja raised his left leg to block. Only for Niko’s right kick to lower and miss Raja's left leg. Niko's entire body twisted as his right leg swept Raja's right leg. Raja stomped his left leg hard to maintain balance. At this moment Niko used a shoulder charge and Raja fell to the ground.

“I told you there’s a difference between us. Maybe if you cultivated you would be a good rival. As you are now, you’re nothing to me.” Niko Hondros walked away with the elder.

Raja Kint sat there in dismay.

“Of course, there are strong people out there. We just have to become stronger.” Ruhai Kint walked up to his younger brother and sat next to him.

Raja Kint said, “Bro, maybe cultivation is worth it. This is just one clan with a few of the younger generation. And already I’ve lost before I have the chance to cultivate.”

When Ruhai Kint heard this he was in shock as he looked at his brother. “You don’t mean that you’ll… that you’ll actually… cultivate?”

Raja Kint sighed as he said, “At least I won’t neglect it as much as before. I acknowledge that I'm an idiot for thinking and not taking cultivation seriously. What if the elder just now had attacked us? Would we be standing… no. we would die. I won’t leave you alone on the path of cultivation.”

Ruhai Kint laughed happily when he heard this.

“We gotta get back to the stadium before we’re gone for too long,” says Ruhai Kint.

The two brothers stand up and walk back to their seats. Raja Kint's heart was currently in turmoil. All his life to this point he wanted to simply learn. He has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge in all areas.

Today showed him that he was being too naive. And that this naivete probably is from his coddled upbringing.
