44: Techniques

Raja Kint left the Array Division into the main academy grounds. As he continued walking he noticed a small group of girls. More specifically, within the group he noticed Teacher Array’s direct disciple: Kyoot Kint. The cute girl he walked past when he first went to Teacher Array’s house. She turned her head and the two locked eyes.

She left her group walking straight toward Raja Kint. Seeing this Raja Kint felt inwardly irritated. He just wanted to stick to himself and cultivate. He turned away and continued walking when a voice sounded out.

“Raja, wait for me,” said Kyoot Kint.

Raja Kint frowned as he turned around to see she caught up.

She said, “If you have a moment can you come with me? There’s something I need to tell you.”

Raja Kint replied, “I need to find some techniques from the library. So how about we talk some other time.”

Kyoot Kint turns around to the girls and yells, “I’ll talk to you later.” She turned toward Raja Kint and smiled as she began walking toward the library too.

Raja Kint noticed the stares directed toward him ever since Kyoot Kint had started walking toward him. He frowned as he surveyed the crowd. The kids felt a shiver and some even became angry.

Raja Kint didn’t seem to care as he continued toward the library, Kyoot Kint next to him. Soon the two reached a simple building and went inside. Behind a desk was an older woman. The two greeted her and continued deeper.

Kyoot Kint asked, “What type of techniques are you looking for?”

“I’m looking for ki and limbo stage array techniques. And I’m looking for a limbo stage martial technique.”

She glanced at him, “You can’t even access those limbo-stage techniques.”

Raja Kint returned a smirk, “Who says so? Teacher Array said I can grab whatever I want.”

“Well then why don’t we just see.”

She led Raja Kint to the back of the library with a door labeled: Limbo Stage. Raja Kint walked up and attempted to open the door to no avail.

“I thought you could go wherever you want.” Kyoot Kint sarcastically said.

Raja Kint frowned, “Did the array not scan me correctly?”

“What array is scanning people?”

Raja Kint looked at her wondering if she was serious. When he saw the inquisitive look on her face it struck him. My home might’ve had arrays to scan for what a person was allowed to access. But what about an academy where the strongest are only in the limbo realm?

Seeing Raja Kint’s pensive face Kyoot Kint said. “Just go to the librarian up front. If you’re truly allowed to go back there. She’ll open the door.”

The two walked up front and Raja Kint says. “Librarian, I was told by Teacher Array to come pick out some techniques.”

The Librarian looked at Raja Kint as she mumbled, “So young,” then asked, “name?”

“Raja Kint.”

She stood up and the three went to the door. She placed her palm on the doorknob and the door opened right up. The two walked inside while the librarian went back to her desk. The few other students nearby who saw this were shocked. They never heard of students entering the area for limbo-stage techniques.

Behind the door, the area was about a third of the size of the outer area. Raja Kint looked around when his eyes fell on the section for array techniques. He hurried over and began looking through the manuals. Kyoot Kint took this chance to peruse the techniques.

They stayed inside the library for two days before Raja Kint had narrowed down his pick. The two techniques he was deciding between were called: Piercing Ki Winds and Great Earthly Palm.

Piercing Ki Winds allowed one to suck in the air around them and pressurize it into blades. On the notes beside this technique. Supposedly a limit hadn’t been found. With the strongest feat being a limbo peak realm killing an early stage earth devourer in 4 slashes.

The Great Earthly Palm uses the earth around you to form palm(s) that you control freely. The size of the palms depends on the cultivator. And the strength of the palms depends on the cultivator. Even though these created entire hands. The technique was named ‘palm’ because supposedly the creator loved to squash others beneath his palm.

Raja Kint really wanted both techniques. As Raja Kint was struggling he looked toward Kyoot Kint and gritted his teeth.

He softly said, “Kyoot, do you mind contacting Teacher Array?”

She glanced at him and then the two techniques in his hand. She reached into her storage pouch and pulled out a talisman. She said, “Master, Raja Kint wants to take out two limbo-stage array techniques.”

A voice sounded from the talisman, “Tell me the names.”

Raja Kint came closer and said, “Piercing Ki Winds and Great Earthly Palm.”

Silence descended as the two stared at the talisman.

“Alright, just take those two and a limbo stage martial technique.”

Raja Kint thanked Teacher Array before the communication ended. Kyoot Kint looked at Raja Kint pensively before sighing and reading. Raja Kint put the two techniques at the door and walked over to the martial section.

He spent another two days looking around before settling on a fist technique called: Four Fists of Devastation. This technique is extremely strong but also heavily uses ki. Supposedly the greatest feat with this technique was a limbo peak expert suppressing an early earth devourer with just the first three fists. It was rumored that if the fourth fist connected then the earth devourer would’ve died. What’s surprising is that this technique was created by a sea devourer expert. The original technique is rumored to have nine fists.

Raja Kint was delighted with this technique and walked over to Kyoot Kint. She had been studying the same technique her entire stay here. Raja Kint asked, “Are you bringing that with you?”

“How can everyone be talented enough to learn limbo-stage techniques and understand them? I can only stay with Ki-Stage techniques for now.”

“What was that thing you wanted to tell me about a few days ago?”

“To watch yourself around here, I don’t know what’s going on. But many kids are angry that you’re receiving such special treatment despite just entering.”

Raja Kint looked confused so she continued.

“You need to be more socially aware. Ever since you arrived here you’ve been put on a pedestal by the limbo experts of the academy. Normally that wouldn’t be so bad. But you also walk around not talking to anyone. Not socializing at any of the events students plan. Then you just up and disappear for a few months and now you’re back. To everyone else, you’re someone who arrived just to steal all the attention and look down on them.”

Raja Kint shook his head, “What’s the point in socializing or going out of my way to be nice? We need to cultivate to become strong.”

Kyoot Kint sighed, “Master told me you were misunderstood because you’re focused on cultivation. Even though we’re an academy for cultivation this isn’t the environment for you. This is why the competition occurs after all. And why those with talent are swept up by stronger people.”

Raja Kint raised an eyebrow.

Seeing that she continued, “These academies for the most part don’t have the ability to nurture a talented individual. Take for example the young man from the Fenix Sect. He was taken to train under a powerful group. So that his talents can be fully brought forth.” She paused as she became serious. “I too wish to go to a place more suited for nurturing talents. A place where I have the chance to reach the peak.”

Raja Kint said, “So the people here are mad because I’m basically in my own world. Why don’t you do the same if you’re serious about cultivation?”

“I still like to socialize with people Raja. Not everyone is like you.” She smiled as she mockingly said. “Oh, today seems like a good day to go sit in my room and cultivate alone.”

Raja Kint kept a blank face as he turned around, collected his manuals and left the room. Kyoot Kint’s laughter sounded behind him.

The two reached the librarian and she put the three techniques into three talismans for him. Raja Kint thanked her and the two left. When they arrived outside they noticed a few kids immediately leaving. The two began walking toward Teacher Array’s home.

Once inside of his house, the two waited on the couches when Teacher Array finally appeared. He smiled while saying, “Having both of my direct disciples here and in harmony brings a smile to my face. Also, stop calling me Teacher Array. Since you’re my disciple I’m Master or Master A to you. Whichever you decide to call me.”

“Okay Master A.” Raja Kint lazily said.

Kyoot Kint held back a laugh while covering her mouth. Master A glanced at Raja Kint as he sat down, “Show me your techniques.”

Raja Kint brought out the three talismans from his ring and placed them on the table.

Master A picked them up and nodded his head. “You know, none of these techniques were made by limbo realms. The two arrays were made hundreds of years ago. By a sky devourer for his two disciples. One who had grasped the wind law and the other who grasped the earth law.”

Kyoot Kint asked, “How did their master create two arrays from scratch like that? That seems kind of ridiculous.”

Master A continued, “There are many talents in the world. Anyways, the two disciples later allowed circulation of these techniques to the greater world. After having made themselves world-renowned with their strength of course. This fist technique was made by a genius of an era. It’s said that he dominated all under the heavens with this technique. It’s not an easy technique to grasp in the slightest. With strict requirements on your ki control and capacity throughout the entire technique. I heard that even in the later stages you have to come to personal conclusions. Regardless, since that genius, the world has only ever seen the first eight fists fully unleashed. Which is still enough to be a top figure under the heavens.

“For you to grab these techniques is something Raja. I’m quite curious how far you’ll take these. If you’ll bring forth the glory of the ninth fist of devastation.”

Kyoot Kint asked, “How do you know so much? Were you alive so long ago?”

Master A calmly replied, “These were stories and records I’ve learned over my years of living. I’m far too young to have known any of them personally.”

“Who are the top talents today?” asked Raja Kint.

Master A stayed silent for a moment, “I’ve heard there are many talents in this current era. Some are saying this is a golden era of history. And that many young sea devourers will appear. Some people believe that someone could appear to challenge the heavens this generation.”

Kyoot Kint said, “Challenge the heavens?”

“Indeed, supposedly heavenly tribulation can fall when ascending from a world. Such information is only speculation at best. In the thousands of years of history this planet has. No one has brought forth any such thing.”

“If that were possible then what type of talent would such a person have to be?” asked Kyoot Kint.

Master A looked at Raja Kint, “Maybe a peerless talent.”
