21: Kint Sect

The 30 kids remaining wore faces of torture under the pressure.

Raja Kint’s brows were slightly furrowed looking at the other kids. Causing those present to mistake his face for pain. In truth, Raja Kint was surprised by how weak these kids were.

He didn’t continue to give much thought to it as the grey-robed man’s voice sounded. “The pressure is moving up to the outer ki realm.”

Raja Kint felt the pressure deepen but it still wasn’t enough to shake him off.

The other kids began to quickly drop. In just a few moments the pressure has reached the peak of the outer ki realm. Leaving Raja Kint, the two pink glowers, the yellow glower and a dark horse.

At this level of pressure, Raja Kint was forced to focus on withstanding the pressure.

“If you lot can hold for another ten seconds then I’ll begin the second level.” The grey-robed man was pleased with the dark horse.

Raja Kint became accustomed to the peak outer ki pressure. Suddenly the pressure increased manyfold. The dark horse and the two pink glowers fell over from exhaustion. The yellow glower held on for a second before also falling over.

Raja Kint’s forehead protruded veins as he forced himself to endure.

Those watching this were shocked. The four who fell over were relieved of pressure. When they opened their eyes to see Raja Kint fighting with everything he had. They could only sigh to themselves.

Raja Kint could feel the pressure increase and his body aching. The image of his family was the only thing keeping him up. Otherwise, he would’ve fallen over with the rest.

Suddenly he looked up at the disk and roared. This was the roar of a cornered beast ready to risk it all despite death staring the beast down. Raja Kint’s eyes were extremely ruthless as he got his left foot under him. At this moment the pressure slightly increased and small cracks appeared under Raja Kint.

“Hack!”

Raja Kint coughed up blood and fell over.

The grey–robed man dispersed the pressure and stored the disk. In the eyes of the three examiners Raja Kint was a supreme talent for them.

The three finished the exam and reported the results to the headmaster. When the headmaster heard of Raja Kint he immediately descended personally along with the other department heads.

Raja Kint woke up to find himself lying on a random bed. Remembering what happened he could only shake his head. “This is too weak of a performance. But this is the current me.”

The door opened to see men with the same symbol on their robes and another differing symbol. All of their cultivation bases were far beyond anything he’d seen in this world so far. Each of them exudes a vibrant look as if given a new life.

Raja Kint realized that these must be limbo realm cultivators. He cupped his hands welcoming the seniors. One man with salt and pepper hair took the lead. “I’m the headmaster of the Kint Academy. These cultivators behind me are the department heads of the academy.”

Raja Kint was shocked that the top cultivators of the academy appeared for him. But when thinking about his performance he calmed down.

Seeing Raja Kint calm himself in the presence of so many limbo realms made the department heads want him even more.

“Right now you will join one of these men and be an outer disciple. You can also choose to join me. Is there anything you wanted to focus on?”

Raja Kint pondered for a moment before speaking. “Is there an Array department?”

A slim man with a loose-fitting daoist robe spoke up. “That would be my department.”

Raja Kint looked at the man, “If you’re willing I would like to learn arrays under you.”

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

The man bellowed as the others around him could only shake their heads. The headmaster smiled and left along with everyone else. Leaving Raja Kint and the slim man with loose clothes.

“You can call me Teacher Array. With your ability, you could’ve gone the martial route with the headmaster. Why did you choose to learn arrays?”

“Arrays is how my mother stays and protects me.”

“That’s good.” Teacher Array brought out a map from his storage ring. Raja Kint looked at the map.

“Choose from one of these places for where you’ll live.”

Raja Kint looked at the map and furrowed his brows. He had no idea where a good place would even be. “Teacher Array whatever you recommend I'll go to.”

The man chuckled and closed the map. Telling Raja Kint to follow him the two arrived at a small cabin surrounded by grass.

“This is the best available spot for you. Stay here for now and I’ll send someone tomorrow to show you around the sect. If you have any questions you can come ask me directly.”

“Thank you, teacher.”

Teacher Array turned around then stopped and pondered for a moment. “Kid, how many months past nine are you?”

“I’m just short of three full months.”

Hearing this Teacher Array felt his heart nearly jump out of his chest. “In 13 months a big event is occurring inside our empire for the younger generation. The requirement to participate is to be under 18 and at least an outer ki realm seventh stage. Even if you don’t reach it in time I’ll still take you along for the experience. Actually, come by me in three days.”

Teacher Array walked into the distance and Raja Kint turned toward his new home. Walking inside he saw there were three rooms. One connected to the entrance, one with a bed and the last had a table. He looked over the instructions for the array surrounding his cabin. The better he becomes at arrays the more strength he can garner from the array outside. From what he learned at its peak the array can beat anyone below the limbo realm.

He spent the rest of the day inside the cabin quietly cultivating.

The next day arrived and Raja Kint heard a knock at his door. He stood up and opened the door. A girl about 14 years old at the third outer ki was there. She’s wearing white joggers, white shoes and a pink shirt. She’s also about a head taller with dark brown eyes.

“You must be the new kid Raja Kint. It’s already gone around the academy about how you’re so special.”

Raja Kint raised an eyebrow.

The girl continued, “My name’s Takai Uro, it seems you don’t talk much so just follow me and I’ll point everything out to you.”

Raja Kint thanked her and the two spent the morning walking around the sect.

Raja Kint only remembered the library, Teacher Array’s residence and where to get missions. Once back at his place, the girl told him. Once he reaches the outer ki realm he can start working the array around his place.

After she left, Raja Kint set back to cultivating arduously.

The three days passed smoothly and Raja Kint set out early morning. Reaching Teacher Array’s residence he knocked on the door.

The door opened to Teacher Array standing there. “You’ve come so fast that the sky is still orange.”

He waved in Raja Kint and said, “You’ll have to wait here until the headmaster arrives. He wants to see your performance on arrays.”

Raja Kint sat down and cultivated in peace. Teacher Array looked at Raja Kint and thought about what he said. Concerning his mother and arrays. He’s cultivating so arduously that he doesn’t mingle with anyone. It seems something happened to his mother and probably his entire family. With so much talent he’s forced to bear such a fate.

Teacher Array shook his head as he headed elsewhere in his home.

Around midday, the headmaster finally arrived. Raja Kint greeted him. Then he sat down as Teacher Array began explaining what he would do.

Teacher Array says, “Alright, Raja I’m going to test you by having you draw an array on paper. I know you can’t make an array yet but you should have some skill.”

Raja Kint was handed a pen and paper and he began drawing an array. After a few minutes, he looked up and gave the paper back. The two men looked at the paper.

The Headmaster joyously said, “Good, good, good. It seems the boy has a talent for arrays after all.”

Teacher Array said, “We’ll be able to really tell once you reach the outer ki realm. This at least shows you’re serious about arrays.”

Raja Kint thought for a moment and said, “I would like to try making an actual array.”

Hearing this the two men looked at him in curiosity. Realistically you need to reach the outer ki realm to make arrays. This is for two reasons. So that you have fine control over your ki and your ki can impact your surroundings. If you can perform both of these in the inner ki realm then technically it’s possible but unheard of.

The headmaster says, “Let the boy try. Sometimes geniuses can do things that others simply can’t understand.”

Raja Kint thanked the two and went out back. He walked around for a bit surprising the two men further.
