1: Precedent of change

“Waah. Waah.”

A small baby boy looked at the world around him. No longer being in his mother’s amniotic sac. The baby had to adjust to the air through crying.

The small, pure watery eyes looked at the woman holding him. Feeling a strong sense of comfort in her arms.

The woman looked at the boy with a smile. She’s laying down on a table. With an oval-like face, crystal-clear sapphire eyes, and porcelain skin. She emanated a comforting radiance.

To her right was a man with sharp facial features, soft emerald eyes, and a smile tugging at the corner of his eyes. He looked up at the midwife looking at the baby boy. He tossed her a bag of gems.

The midwife thanked the man, wished the baby luck and blessed the woman before leaving.

The woman said, “We need a good name for this boy.”

“Of course, I have the perfect name. This boy is the royalty of dao and the bearer of hope. We’ll name him Raja. A name perfect for when he reaches the same heights as the World Patriarch.” The man’s voice contained his happiness within.

With a raised eyebrow the woman glanced at the man.

Finally, the baby stopped crying. Sharing the color of his mother’s sapphire eyes. He looked closely at his mother.

Elsewhere far away from the birthplace of Raja Kint. A middle-aged man with red and black streaked hair was under the stars, mumbling under his breath.

Sighing, he turned away from the stars and walked to the wooden house behind him.

Further mumbling, “It seems we’ve entered a time of great change within the 5 Planes. I must make sure I don’t get swept within the coming storm.”

Suddenly he stopped and looked back up at the stars.

“Could it be possible that I can benefit? Where is the path? I must find the path. This is my opportunity to break through into the Dao Realm.” With hope in his voice, he began staring at the stars again.

Around the man red strings appeared. All strings were attached to him with the other end going farther than the eye can see.

He noticed one of the strings slightly tremble. His eyes widened as he looked at the trembling string.

“He is a man with a lot of luck. But this… I can’t be sure. At least we have good connections. Maybe I can tighten our fate closer together?” The man continued to ponder before thinking.

It’s worth a shot to peer into his fate. This won’t be a simple matter and will exhaust me. But this is the only trace of a chance I see.

With a determined gaze, he went into his house.

6 years passed and the blue-eyed baby boy had now become a curious young child.

Raja Kint was currently fighting with his older brother, Fuhai Kint.

Raja Kint caught his brother's kick. Sending a sweeping kick of his own knocking his brother to the ground.

“Raja, you’re more annoying than anyone else. In hand-to-hand, you’re the only person that causes me so much trouble.” Fuhai Kint was shaking his head with a smirk.

“That’s because he’s reading through all of the martial arts books faster than you.” The voice of a young girl sounded from the side. This was their younger sister, Hikari Kint.

Raja Kint walked over to his sister and looked at her array.

Hikari Kint glared at him.

“Tsk. Tsk. My sister is making such crude arrays. You must do better.”

“Hmph. Say that when you can make better arrays than me.”

The two brothers laughed. Causing the sister to also laugh.

“The three of you are still out here enjoying yourselves. Come inside to eat, we have a good feast today.” The voice of a maid sounded out from the side.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

The three quickly ran over to the dining area. Inside was their mother, Irini Kint. And their father, Enyo Kint. The two were sitting at opposite ends of a wooden two-meter-long table.

Raja Kint quickly began eating.

Enyo Kint said, “I’m excited for you Ruhai. Next year you’ll be 9 years old and begin cultivating. With a space law body, you’ll be leading this new generation. Maybe one day you’ll be leading the clan.”

Raja Kint spoke up, “Don’t forget I’ll be there so that brother isn’t alone.”

Enyo Kint looked at Raja Kint before speaking. “Those who don’t want to cultivate could never lead a clan. Strength speaks louder than anything else.”

“I’ll make a way, why would someone refute logic? They can’t, therefore I win.”

Irini Kint spoke, “Can you two cut it out? It’s annoying listening to you two bicker like women.”

Hikari Kint smirked as she said, “Schoolgirls.”

Enyo Kint could only sigh. Raja Kint shot his sister a glare.

Fuhai Kint said, “I’m looking to become as strong as the World Patriarch one day. So brother can use his time to freely study.”

The rest of the dinner was enjoyed lightly as they sparked up random conversations.

During the night Raja Kint was sitting down in the main courtyard. Looking up at the stars he felt there was something he wasn’t seeing. As if sight alone wasn’t good enough.

Light footsteps sounded behind him. He turned to see his mother smiling at him as she sat beside him.

“It’s nice to have someone who enjoys the stars as much as me. Tell me what do you see tonight?” Irini Kint's soothing voice didn’t break Raja Kint's focus at all.

“Tonight I feel like there’s something I'm not seeing. Like there’s another meaning that I don’t understand. It’s really annoying.”

“Don’t worry, one day you’ll understand what it is.”

Raja Kint sat silent for a moment. Looked toward his mom and hesitated before looking back at the stars. This time with an unclear mind.

Irini Kint knew what her son was thinking. But didn’t say anything. It wouldn’t help if she was the first to speak.

Raja Kint looked back toward his mother and spoke. “Mom, is it really that bad that I don’t want to cultivate but simply learn? Dad is always mad. Even telling me that my talent of unreal high comprehension is wasted on me.”

Irini Kint said, “He knows that your comprehension ability makes it so that you and your brother can stand toe to toe. Leading the clan together to greater heights. Although there isn’t an official name for high comprehension abilities. It is seen as extremely important on the path of cultivation.”

Irini Kint paused, paying attention to her son’s face.

“I’m sure you understand what I’m saying. The strongest cultivators your father and I see not only have unreal talent. They have unreal luck and an inhumane obsession with their goals. Those are two qualities that one isn’t born with. But you and your brother both have unreal talent.”

Raja Kint replied, “So father sees a great cultivator in me. But cultivation isn’t the only path. With older brother around who can harm our clan? With the World Patriarch around, who would dare harm us?”

“The World Patriarch is strong but not invincible. I’ve told your father. But the stars are telling me a great era is coming. Many top-level talents that would normally rule an entire era. Will drop to even greater talents. He’s nervous about you both is all.”

“Mom, can we not just stay here on this planet and be safe?” Raja Kint understood what his mother meant. But he didn’t need to be a part of any great era.

Irini Kint looked at her son and sighed. “If only the world was that kind.”

Raja Kint was confused by her words but didn’t bother saying anything.

Mother and son spent some time talking about the stars before going to bed.

A few months later and Ruhai Kint is turning nine.

All people when they become nine years old is when they discover if they can cultivate or not.

There are many theories concerning this phenomenon. The most widely accepted is the fact that the body before nine denies cultivation because it’s still forming to reach its rudimentary form. A form that allows the body to process ki naturally.

Another largely popular theory is that it could be a law established by the dao.

———

As Ruhai Kint began his breathing exercises. The entire family was present to witness his first cultivation.

For the first time cultivating, nearly all kids will reach the inner ki realm stage one. Some kids with more talent break through multiple levels for the first time. There are those with monstrous talent who break through to the outer ki realm the first time.

As Ruhai Kint continued breathing. Raja Kint was excited. With a space law body, he was bound to rise above others no matter the results.

Reaching the outer ki realm with a law body was guaranteed. What really mattered was how many stages Ruhai Kint jumps.

Suddenly a surge of ki was entering Ruhai Kint.

The wind was tickling Raja Kint's arm. Then suddenly his brother seemed to be at an important moment.

After a few minutes, Ruhai Kint opened his eyes and spoke. “I broke through to outer ki realm fifth stage!”

Enyo Kint burst out into a peal of thundering laughter as he walked up to Ruhai Kint. “Reaching the second realm was obvious. Reaching the fifth stage is a blessing! You’re a true monstrous class talent!”

All the family members showed excited expressions at this revelation.

Raja Kint was completely astonished. He had read many books about great cultivators. For them to have a start as good as this was common for era-suppressing geniuses. Even if there was a genius like this during their times. The genius was usually snuffed out early. Or had bad luck.

The rest of the month was a celebration for their family.

When this news reached the ears of the entire Kint Dao Planet. Everyone went into a fervor. Even the World Patriarch was shocked to hear such good news.

During this month Raja Kint believed even more that he wouldn’t need to cultivate. With talent at this level, his brother would be untouchable.

A thought also crept across his mind. My brother will have to join the fight that mother spoke about.
